if i mine on scrypt HDD not need more?
Scrypt is just for the multipool; they mine scrypt coins and sell them to buy burst.

People asked why I sold my 14334 BURST coins at 698 satoshis only a couple days ago.  I wasn't sure it was the smart move at the moment, but now I see it was.  This is why.  I have seen this pattern in many coins in the past year and a half.  They start with a nice run up in price because everyone is excited about the new thing.  Then one of two things happen.  Either the price wavers around a bit and climbs again, like DOGE and Litecoin, or once it starts dropping it just keeps on dropping and never regains its former glory, like most coins.

BURST may have a unique algorithm and mining method, but the real question here, where long term profits are concerned, is "What can BURST coin do that many other coins can't?", including Bitcoin.

And the answer is - nothing.  Aside from its mining method there is nothing special or unique about BURST that should give anyone a reason to think it has any long term potential whatsoever.

Not to talk it down, as I want to mine it and make lots of money off of it, but this is the reality of the crypto coin world.

Having said all that, I am only here for the profit, and if I can't make money mining this coin, then it is useless to me.  I don't give a damn about anything else that it can or can't do or anything unique about it.

And in my side business of home computer repair, I will be able to sell my 3 TB drives off within a few months to people who need new(er) hard drives, and for more than I paid for them, so it is impossible for me to lose on this deal.  The only question is how much $$$ can I make off this coin.

Don't forget that burst has probably the lowest energy use of all coins.

Step 3: If using windows, replace the first word "java" in each of the .bat files with "C:\Windows\SysWOW64\java" and "save as" each of them as .bat files again.

Example for the run_generate .bat file:
Original; java -Xmx4000m -cp pocminer.jar;lib/*;lib/akka/*;lib/jetty/* pocminer.POCMiner generate %*

modified: C:\Windows\SysWOW64\java -Xmx1000m -cp pocminer.jar;lib/*;lib/akka/*;lib/jetty/* pocminer.POCMiner generate %*

Step 3a: Many of the values in the original .bat files were causing issues for my computer, so I changed the -Xmx4000m (or whatever your # was) to a lower value like 1000 or 500 (ie. -Xmx1000m) and it began working. This will be entirely system dependent, and is like tweaking a normal miner's settings to find what works best.

For step 3. I don't see a java folder. Did he meant the java application? How do i "save as". I can't see an option there. I tried renaming java.bat but it is still recognized as "java.bat.exe"

You save as in the run_generate.bat I think

Hey guys - Asked earlier but no one replied; I have 8 TB of Harddrive space that I would like to use to mine Burst, Can someone please tell me the optimal number of coins on average I can expect to get per day when everything is configured as it should be?

Also, does the other hardware have any impact on the mining? Only using a i5 3570k and 8GB of DDR3 - is that enough to get the most out of the hard drives?

Cheers!
I think now it's probably around 1000/tb/day
751  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][SKULL] ☠ SkullCoin | in-Game Treasure Hunt | PoQ on: September 03, 2014, 11:30:47 PM
The cost to sweep "SkullCoin" treasures is ~30cents.

In the future we are going to require hunters who find "SkullCoin" treasure to pay the full sweep amount of btc fees(keep a few dollars of btc in wallet).

If you don't want to pay the "~30cents" the next person will.

This is way to be sure hunters/finders really want the "SkullCoins" and aren't just getting them because they can. This will cut down on production costs allowing us to efficiently stay on "CounterParty" for the time being.

On DogeParty sweeping costs would be negligible(well below ~30cents).

Basically, if you won't pay the ~30cents in btc fees to sweep $4.00(5k) - $8.00(10k) worth of "SkullCoins" you probably don't really want them and someone else can get a chance to own them instead.

Update with the game for the next "Treasure Hunt".

The game is coming along nicely. I'm excited to try something new and different. The scripting is a challenge & extremely fun.

I think its going to be a very fun launch.
What game is it?

If we start mining while a plot file is being generated......

Will the miner use the additional plot space as it is created, or....

Will you have to stop and restart the miner periodically to use additional freshly plotted space?

It will read all new plots

Deve should cut total amount. 2 billion is too much. This coin si gonna ne big, if che cut the way to moon si guaranteed

For some people who can't read.

Block reward starts at 10,000/block, then decreases 5% each month (similar to halving every 14 months, but much smoother)
Should do 25% or 10% each month  Tongue

if i stop my plotter while its generating what will happen and whats the downside? is there a way to know where it stopped so i can start it again

If you use the windows plotter it tells you were it is. And you can start plotting from where it tell you it left off. If you are using the linux plotter... not really.
This is the downside. Other than that, nothing much. The miner will give an error message that it can't read the file, but it actually does.

How do you know it is still reading/using the file when it gives the error message saying it can't?

Is it confirmed that non-completed/stopped plots really are working and able to submit shares...?
Yes, it has been this way since day one.

I have a minor announcement to make.

I am in contact with multipool devs, and we will likely have one soon.

Minor announcement?

so with 180gb mining the v2 pool i constantly get no valid shares to submit to pool.. been mining for over a hour now... and my ID has not appeared on http://178.62.39.204:8121/shares .... i havnt gotten a clear answer if there is something else i need to do for it to mine in the pool. do i not have enough GB plotted?
I have 400 GB and get shares every 30 minutes, just be patient

Hey burstcoin, did you finally get in contact with Bittrex?

Is anyone close to getting a Windows version of dcct's Linux plotter and/or a decent gpu plotter?

Will you simplify the V2 pool process in the near future?

Thanks for your hard work on this project....
Please answer... the hype for bittrex is real.
