741  Economy / Economics / Re: The steps to follow in creating a budget on: December 29, 2023, 07:48:06 PM
Sometimes people make budgeting as if one needs a rocket science degree in order to do it right. I think budgeting is very simple. It's probably just a matter of common sense.
I agree, people these days be freestyling their daily budget as if they are just picking up their money on the floor. Budgeting should be realistically set using the common sense, living without a daily budget is like living in borrow time.
When we give importance and value to the money we earn we lavish it on every luxurious item that comes to mind. The first step to be fervent in setting a budget and sticking to it is by giving value to any amount of money we earn. For with value to our money all other steps to a healthy budgeting is seamless.

Avoid an unnecessary lavish life. That's it. If you are still having a hard time budgeting what you have despite living a simple life, then that means you need to find ways to increase your income. Now, that's probably the harder and complicated part.
Diversifying is the best way to counter or align your budget, do not settle for one source of income, try to explore more rooms where you can generate profit even it is a small business or lesser income than your main source. I don't think it is hard to find, well maybe it is at first but once you find it, you can prolong it or best you can add more to it. Luxury these days doesn't apply to all, if you can't afford don't buy it, it is a very simple logic.
The solution to surviving this hostile economic time is having as many streams of income as you can handle and be efficient at it. A single income flow can be daunting and no matter how big the amount from a single source might seem like it is not a hedge to feel comfortable about. What if a an incident took place leading to the pause or totally stop of the source, what or where will you fall on for survival unlike when you're with a multiple income source?  Multiple streams is the only hedge to all the effect of the  economic recession we are currently facing.
742  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: [ECONOMICS] Who's Using eNaira Here. Expect Less Cash in Circulation on: December 29, 2023, 05:31:04 PM
According to an Economic Report’ for August 2023 by the Central Bank of Nigeria.
Quote
The volume of eNaira in circulation rose by 284.6 per cent to N9.78bn in August, according to the Central Bank of Nigeria. This is as the volume of notes and coins declined by 14 per cent to N2.65tn in August 2023.
https://punchng.com/e-naira-jumps-by-284-notes-decline-to-n2-7tn-cbn/

I nor need talk to much because na two questions wey I get to ask;

1) Who dey use eNaira here? If you have downloaded the app, has any merchant accepted the eNaira for payment? Me nor understand this statistics at all whether it is for usage or downs of the app.
Am also surprised by the statistics as you Op because I can't remember when last I heard any Nigerian talk about using this eNaria system throughout this year at least for someone that stays in the metropolitan area I have supposed to have heard one or two persons say they are using it but can't think of any.

People strongly subscribe to the use of PoS, online bank app transfer and ussd code for their transactions so to them they have no need for the eNaira which is why the government need to establish a broad publicity network across the country beyond how they are currently doing it because from my knowledge not even one-third of Nigerians know about the eNaira neither do they make use of it. Which is why am surprised by this tremendous upsurge figure rise given by this statistics.

Quote
2) We are slowly transitioning into a cashless economy. If you dey do any form of business here, how you don dey take prepare your business and that of your customers for this change? Abi do you feel that we are not ready for it yet?
If we talking about cashless economy we are already in it years ago and not that we're just entering.... The POS, mobile bank apps and more we use are all examples of a cashless economic system. The eNaira is just an upgraded part of the system.

Note: If the topic content is not suitable, you can delete it. If there is no problem, I will continue with other betting sites.

I don't think you would be having a problem with mods/admins deleting your thread provided the casino's you will be enlisting here in the forum are legit casino's with no legitimate reputation and scam accusation records and just like the first user said, if there are conditions in place that interested users have to follow to earn these bonuses please do well to make it known so people already have in mind what they are up for.

. However, since I do not know the rules exactly, I have only shared 3 casinos for now to avoid any problems.

745  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Just think of holding and not the high transaction fees. on: December 28, 2023, 05:23:50 PM
Right now is not a great time to be selling your BTC, not primarily as a result of high gas fees charges but because we're now getting closer to the harvest as the halving approaches next year, so holding should be a priority for all bitcoin holders. Except in pressing situation where you have no option but to sell and use the money to solve your financial problem.

It is for this reason of unpredictable circumstances that can force us to sell that bitcoiners are encouraged to build and spread their tentacles into other sources of getting income flow and not just on bitcoin alone, doing this will make you hold to your expected plan.  I think the high fees rate of bitcoin transaction has been an encouragement to many holders to keep holding which support the saying that to every disadvantage there's an advantage in part.

747  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: License: is it a guarantee? on: December 28, 2023, 02:00:44 PM
But have been wondering and wanting to ask, does a license guarantees that a casino won't scam it's customer's going forward.
As far as I know, a license is not to be used for fraud and cheating in the gambling industry. A gambling license is to have official permission from a government authority, where the online casino operating looks legal, that's a licensing point of view.

This is different from acts of fraud or cheating, generally the casinos that operate here have a license in general, but we still see negative things, whether for users or the casino itself, conclusion: the license does not guarantee you a loss, the license is only to act as a site that is officially recognized by all elements, especially users, who want to bet at a particular casino.
It is not to be used for fraudulent practices against the customer's but some casinos still go on scamming their customers despite having a valid license. Some of them do it in a cloak they may not exercise these scamming act outrightly like denying customer's of making withdrawal of their winnings, it could be done through probably unfair gaming system, technically taking advantage of their customers.

The issue with the government that have led to increasing number of scamming casinos including with those that have government valid license is that the government have felt so relaxed and reluctant to act with full force of the law against these erring casinos maybe due to the huge taxes they are receiving from the gambling industry. But it's left for the gambler to safeguard himself from being victimized by making used casinos that are well known for their long time reputation in the industry and not just only base on license validity.
748  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What Was You Biggest Win in 2023? on: December 28, 2023, 11:32:03 AM
For me calculating my losses and wins is what I dislike doing as a gambler I assume it will make me feel like am wasting money if my calculations shows that am losing more higher than am winning and on the other hand if the calculation turn out to be of high wins of profit over the losses it might persuade me to gamble the more whereby increasing the stakes from the usual.

I know I have had many winnings this year the beginning of the year was remarkable with lots of winnings though recently I haven't been that so lucky with my bets and it has made me slow down a bit with my gambling. I mostly bet on sports betting rarely with casinos so I haven't had a single win with any of those few casino games I have played before.
749  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Should mentally unstable people be allowed to gamble? on: December 28, 2023, 09:19:50 AM
a depressed person isn't same as a mentally unstable person, the two conditions are entirely a different health issues, so a depressed person can still work and not be violent but I don't think this can be true with a mentally unstable person. He's mental so what sense has he to work ?

True. I agree with you Lida93. But I know some mentally unstable people still work at their family business to help their family. They work only what was instructed to them and always need guides and helping hands. The important thing is, even though they work and help in the family business, the members never give him cash money to spend according to his wishes, he always asks his family what he needs and they buy that thing for him.

So, he has no chance to gamble at all. The person I was talking about is our local and almost everyone knows him. Even if he goes to any shop and wants expensive things, the shop owners will refuse even if he wants to buy them with cash. Because they know that he is mentally unstable!
For this set I wouldn't categorize them as mentally unstable but people that are deficiency of reasoning and self determination, because like you said they take orders, follow orders accordingly as instructed and don't act except they are told to and for that other people see them as persons that can't decide for themselves therefore even when they try to take certain spontaneous decision for themself people will interpret it as unintentional because of their mental deficiency.

All am trying to cap in real sense is that mentally unstable people (demented person) don't take instructions neither do they adhere to it to go with. So those persons you @shishir99 is referring to as not mentally deranged or demented but are just deficiency of reasoning of their own. They are like dummy's.

Mentally deranged or unstable persons are well known for their violent behaviors of causing harm to others, they don't work for money neither have a sense to gamble for money but this man from the op does the opposite which makes me count him as not mentally unstable but as someone suffering from a depressive condition from life's challenges that had overwhelmed him making him to care less of himself
I don't think it is all mentally unstable people that are violent. I also feel that the ability to work and gamble is not a yardstick to conclude that somebody is sound. Many emotionally unbalanced people still work and are not violent.
Alright, they may not all be that violent but still normal people won't feel comfortable occupying same space with them knowing that this person has a mental health problem.  And one more thing @fiatless, a depressed person isn't same as a mentally unstable person, the two conditions are entirely a different health issues, so a depressed person can still work and not be violent but I don't think this can be true with a mentally unstable person. He's mental so what sense has he to work ?
I don't understand your point of argument because you keep contradicting your former stance. You stated in your former post that mentally unstable people are violent and might not have the ability to earn a living and gamble. There was no time you made any effort to distinguish the type of mentally unstable people you were referring to when you generalized that they cannot work and are all violent. You never said anything about discomforting other gamblers, and neither did I mention any of the concept of depression. Come to think of it depression is a mental disorder and some of the cardinal signs of this condition (especially in extreme conditions) are anger and aggression which is the root cause of violence.

However, I think I have learned some lessons from this thread which include that everyone has the right to gamble as much as his presence doesn't cause discomfort to other gamblers and the casino management deems them fit. Also, we shouldn't judge a person's mental state by merely looking at their physical appearance. And it seems that most terms of service of many gambling platforms are silent on this issue. It is also evident that some national laws might not have covered this area.
I don't know what seem to be contradictory in my explanations to you.  I still hold my ground on this matter that the mentally unstable people can't work  except they are not really mentally unstable but are a depressive individual's or person's suffering from mental deficiency in such state of condition they can work to a limit but for mentally unbalanced persons am not sure. And if they are allowed to gamble if am to be fair they are humans too despite their condition so they have a right to take up human activities too but normal people won't feel comfortable around them because they wouldn't know what next action they can carry out as it rings in their head ignorant if the consequences of their actions.

And for the record depression as you had defined as a mental disorder is actually not correct as you had defined it. According to the Wiktionar-Dictionary defined depression as  (psychology) In psychotherapy and psychiatry, a state of mind producing serious, long-term lowering of enjoyment of life or inability to visualize a happy future. There was no mention of a mental disorder.

We're all here to learn and it should also delight you to know that I have learnt new ideas from your Op post but that being said we still have to sharpen some edges and not agree to all things uniformly.
750  Economy / Gambling discussion / License: is it a guarantee? on: December 27, 2023, 05:49:32 PM
Almost every gamblers notably those that make use of online Casino's for their gambling have the notion that except from a license owned casino they don't use any  casino without a license, which I think is a cautious thing to do.

But have been wondering and wanting to ask, does a license guarantees that a casino won't scam it's customer's going forward.

Quote from: Su-asa
Why because they can't control themselves, even when they are not an addicted gambler?
Is like you don't know what addicted is all about OP, because anything you are doing in life and you want to quit from such thing and you still find yourself doing it show that you are addicted such behavior in the society and you need a psychologist to help you out before it will lead you to destruction. But if you are not addicted to gambling, I guess is very easy for you to stop gambling by avoiding those things that is leading you to gambling and, with time you will begin to cope without gambling from your environment.

Don't be addicted to gambling, so that if you want to leave gambling will be easy for you to quit gambling by having some budget in your daily or weekly gambling whether you win from your bet or you don't win from your bet you will not gamble above your budget which is the best way not to be addicted to gambling in the community.

Op is saying something contradictory, but he's saying out of his view on gambling and why some people can't leave. He's never been in a situation like this and has not helped someone else escape addiction. Hence Op is not fit or the right person to send out such a message to gamblers. His view only shows how other nongamblers would think of gambling addiction. They'll look at it as the addict's fault and also, he, the addict, is not interested in changing. Not knowing that it's not in the gambler's jurisdiction to change. The same type of people also blame gamblers, like Op is trying to say in his way that it's the gambler's fault to remain in gambling, despite losing money. I'd say that gamblers are humans and deserve love, it's not common for somebody to stick to something that's eating up his time and wealth. But, their loved ones, fail to conclude that these people don't understand or feel what's happening in their life.
There are a host of things in life that are easier said than done and this is one of it as Op has made it seem based on his perspective about gambling addiction. Everyone is talking about addiction whether hard drug or gambling addiction but not everyone has experience any of these addictions, therefore the manner and tone at which someone who have never been an addict will talk about it will be so different from how a former addiction or someone who had had an addict under his care would also talk about addiction.

Op is talking based on a surface level of thought and which at a surface it is a decision that had to be made at once and stick to it stopping it immediately but deep on the inside the battle it surpasses that school of thought from the Op perspective. Have op wondered why some gambling addicts will say today that aren't gambling anymore and after a week or two you see them back again. The addict's alone can't do it successfully they need relatives and friends support in encouraging them that it can be eliminated gradually.
752  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Should mentally unstable people be allowed to gamble? on: December 27, 2023, 12:54:13 PM
The casino employees aren't licensed psychic doctors, so they can't decide who is mentally sick and who is OK. I'm sure that if a guy starts acting weird, they will kick him out of the casino.
I assume that some physical signs can show that someone is not mentally stable. And I pointed to the fact that can such a person be barred from gambling based on some of these clear physical signs and not a psychiatric check.
The certification of a person to be said to be mentally unstable is not something that demands professionalism to know, for just by the abnormal behaviours and actions expressed by the individual it will be written all over him/her. What we can argument on about that needs a professional hand is only in the aspect of getting a cure it solution to the mental ailment.

753  Economy / Economics / Re: A career - as an employee or a business owner which do you prefer and why? on: December 27, 2023, 12:19:45 PM
In life we have different folks with different likes and preference. There are people that chosed to go into business as businessmen from scratch and turned out to be business tycoons and movers and shakers of the industries with some few years in business.

While on the other hand some other person chosed to be employees as in working for those that owns business organisations/companies and yet still made it in life to an enviable climax. Perhaps cause that's what they love and have enthusiasm for rather than being an entrepreneur which perhaps might not have worked out well for their career eventually.

Either way, be it a business owner or an employee there are some other people who venture into either of them made no success too. Life can be somehow unfair, right? No! Life isn't unfair, for that's how the cosmos works. So everyone can't just win on a particular thing, definitely not everyone  Smiley

Now let's have a discussion about it all, for between being an employee to work for some other person's establishments/organization/company  and rather taking time/years to establishing your own company and not working under an employer but rather you being the employer, which will you chose and please ensure to back up your choice with reasonable thoughts, as it could be a guide to some other person's that might be reading this tread.

Let's begin!

It is a lot harder to be a business owner and the reward is sometimes not worth the effort. You soon start to realize that so many "hidden" costs need to be factored in and covered by the price of your product or service before you can make a profit. Things like business insurance, postage fees, server hosting, stationary, covering the cost of your vehicle wear and tear, plus so much more. That you will probably not have to think about as the employee of a bigger company. You can reap a lot bigger rewards as the owner, but only if the market is big enough and you're able to scale to the right size before someone else tries to hop on your idea. Otherwise you can end up in a rather unprofitable or break even limbo which is the worst of both worlds.
There are challenges and obstacles within the business environment that could deter a person from continuing to run a company which you have mentioned few key factors to that effect and for many when they analyze and compare the weight to bear in becoming a successful business owner to that of just gaining the needed set skills and education to be gainfully employed a whole lot of people decides to be employed and be contented with any level of success they can attain under such status.

Moreso like you had mentioned "another person reaping you off" before you could even stand sturdy, as in, the competition alone has made a good number of person's with business ownership mindset to drop the dream because they couldn't match in the competition and the politics against those that have already gained a higher ground in that line of business over you.
754  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Focus on your business on: December 26, 2023, 05:04:47 PM
You will be left behind. So please let be fully focused on our business.
I am that person with the habit of not intruding into people's affairs especially their private life as I strongly believe it doesn't concern except when they make the call there then I am keen to interfere. Perhaps, I cultivated this lifestyle due to bad experience's I went through trying to bother myself into people's business I wasn't called to, only because I felt I was trying to be a good fellow.

So in life minding one's business will holistically save you from unnecessary insults, and your mental health will have you to be thankful for. Best to utilize that energy you will wanna use uninvited into others business for yourself and see how tremendous you'll develop all round beyond what it is for you now. So Op, I agree with you we have to learn to be fully focused on our business maybe until when out input is sort for.
755  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Risk management and responsible gaming on: December 26, 2023, 04:45:29 PM
Governments and several organisations work to encourage responsible gaming. This involves establishing betting restrictions, offering support to those who think they have a gambling problem, and participating in self-exclusion programmes.
Not so many countries care about the negative effect that gambling is emitting in the lives of their country's citizens, what they most care about is to create a peaceful environment for the smooth running of those casinos operating on their soil in return for the high taxes (money) that are paid into their purse. If you are referring to nongovernmental organizations and civil liberty organizations rendering support in encouraging responsible gambling I can agree to an extent but for the government I don't think they fucking care anyway. The only restrictions I see from the government is 18+.

Op don't forget that those self-exclusion programmes aren't for free, in some cases you have to be granted a subsidy where you incur part fees to benefit from those programmes. So it's like a win-win from the government achieving from the gambling companies and also from those who fall into gambling addiction seeking for specialist/rehab support. Lol.
756  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: December 26, 2023, 03:58:42 PM
I was a bit skeptical about this Newcastle vs Nottingham Forest because of two reasons; Nottingham Forest now have a new manager who would want to hit the ground running so as to impress the club owner and also Newcastle's poor form. I know they started this month with a victory over Manchester United but it's turned into a miserable month for this Newcastle side, as they now won one of their last seven games and been eliminated from the Champions League and Carabao Cup in a matter of weeks.

They weren’t even playing well in the game, which suggests that something is wrong somewhere. Honestly Newcastle never looked like producing a comeback of their own. I think they have some serious thinking to do going into January. They have got really tough fixtures going into the new year and the whole team is always looking exhausted. Signings needed to bolster the squad. Now they’ll face the daunting prospect of starting 2024 with fixtures against Liverpool, Sunderland, Manchester City and Aston Villa. I feel they have lost our confidence and cohesion. They need to find their form before these games.
Newcastle actually started the season in a formidable form that saw them sitting in the top four of the EPL table but it's quite unfortunate to see that their form couldn't stand the test of time as they have been dropping form recently with each game played. It could be as a result of the injuries some of their key players are battling with and we hope they recover soon and get back to form with the team.

Another thing apart from a needed signing in bolstering the team's performance next year is that the Newcastle coach has to also go back to the drawing board and redraft his tactics as it is no more working for the team anymore maybe because other clubs has discovered its weakness. I won't fail to loud a big congratulations to Nottingham forest for their victory today at least it's a gradual walk away from the relegation zone which is the area almost every club is avoid by all means... What a boxing day hattrick from the Wood.
757  Other / Meta / Re: Was the forum better before without Merit or is it better now with Merit? on: December 26, 2023, 03:35:26 PM
Members, reputable members. Was it better before back then when this forum was without merits or is it better or even much better now with merits? Please explain your answer so users like me can get an idea how it was and what you prefer. Smiley
The merit system as I know was introduced in 2018 of which I got into the forum in 2022 which clearly indicates that I didn't experience how the forum was regarding to discussions/threads quality as at that time before the merit system but by the role and purpose of the merit system as established common sense alone will tell you that the introduction of the merit system  was to solve a recurring problem called spamming and low quality posting and it has made things much better in the forum than when it wasn't in place.

Simply put, If before when there was no meriting system was so great than now then there wouldn't be a need for enacting merit system. With the merit system spamming has been been reduced to it barest minimum as merit stands as a reward for quality delivery in posts/comments.

I congratulate you on the purchase of your first Bitcoin! This is obviously the begining of your investment in the digital space, as you grow, you will notice more avenues to invest and it will also expose you to most of the events in the space.

Try to make it a constant thing to invest in digital assets, its never a waste and it exposes you to a whole lot of possibilities.

You seem to be referring to some kind of need or wiseness to invest into shticoins... @wallet4bitcoin, and surely that is not true.  It is probably dumb to be wasting time to be buying any  shitcoins at all, and if you have some kind of a gambling tendency, then maybe limit your investing into shitcoins to no more than 10% the size of your bitcoin holdings.. and that might even be too much.
Anyone with a gambling tendency who's also investing in shitcoins is practically double his risks because shitcoins are no different with gambling... And I'll prefer sticking to actually gambling only after investing in bitcoin which is the real deal, instead of adding shitcoins in spite of the % used addition to the gambling risks increasing your potential losses.

Better late than never.
0.033 is already a nice amount these days, not everybody has 1400$ in crypto.

You can see that as a start only and hopefully some day you can call yourself the proud own of 100% of a bitcoin.

The road seems to be long but we have time.

What's the long term target? You have anything in mind?

It is not necessary to own a whole bitcoin.

Each person should invest in accordance with his abilities, and sure attempt to get as many bitcoin as you are able to get, up to a point... so OP has gotten to 3.3 million satoshis, and the next goal might be to get to 10 million satoshis, and then the next goal to get to 21 million satoshis, and then maybe to half of a bitcoin, etc etc etc.. and some people might not be able to reach a whole bitcoin, even if they started investing at $100 per week, they would invest $5,200 after a year and $52k after 10 years, and that still might not add up to a whole bitcoin.  Point is to do what you can, and sure be aggressive if you are able to be, and you likely need to aspire in stages and goals that are realistic and reachable.
Newbies should know that there is definitely no competition with the owning of bitcoin as it can only lead to an unhealthy competition with investor's investing beyond what they can afford to lose because they are racing to meet up with someone else they are competing against whereas their income flow is nothing compared to who they might be racing with. AFAIK, the only competition that exists with bitcoin investors is the competition against any potential challenges that may arise along the way to hamper the investor's initial long term investment plan forcing to sell at a loss. Every generation has their own advantages and disadvantages the times determined the life style of the people of that time but as development advance a lot things has to fall behind. if we are to make a non bias comparative analysis of the gen z and x we will find out that each of the key differences of the generation has its peculiarity and uniqueness, and an advantage conditions in gen x may not apply or fit into the gen z visa-viz.

Older people will tell you that life in their younger times was simpler, much natural with much of the diseases of today alien to them, with less economic hardship and peaceful co-existence. while young people of today will argue that technology today has made life less hard to deal with unlike times back with crude tools, communications now made easy etc etc. What i can say at this juncture is that the conditions of things are just a reflection of the time we just have to adapt.
