741  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The fight between Mark Zuckerberg and Elon Musk. Who you betting on? on: August 14, 2023, 11:28:50 PM
This is actually a little embarrassing.  What is elon even thinking, this guy is just a straight attention where.  Figures that's why he latched onto dogecoin.  If he was pumping bitcoin nobody would blink and eye.  Dude is smart but needs to get his social shit together lol.

He may be smart but he definitely needs to get his act together. I don’t know if he actually would feel embarrassed by any of this cause he’s still getting talked about and that may be good enough for him. And considering this fight was most likely not going to happen, he’s getting more engagements on his social media app  as his ass kissers fuel his ego, making him seem larger than life.
He’s probably thinking on how to get more people engaged on his app.
742  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: August 14, 2023, 09:47:31 PM

I didn't see anything special in the second half from Manchester United, but it was Wolves who did the better in the build-up. Wolves almost succeeded in breaking into Andre Onana's goal several times, but Onana's good performance still managed to save him.

I’m glad Manchester United still won the game and clinched the 3 points. And yes, I had high hopes having Onana defending the goalposts and he didn’t disappoint as he came out with a clean sheet.
Wolves also surprised me a bit with their performance as they had put some pressure on United’s goal in a bid to score but Onana was not having any of it. Ten Hag must be proud of himself for having brought him into the squad. Despite Manchester United having slightly more of the ball in their possession, Wolves managed to get more attempts at goal than United did. Perhaps, Man United had underestimated them a little bit going into the game.
743  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League 2023/24 Season on: August 14, 2023, 06:13:43 PM
How the best players from Europe are joining Saudi or other leagues. As such I think the Champions League will not be as competitive as it used to be after a few seasons.

UEFA Champions League. I think the name of the league alone speaks for itself. This is the league where the best clubs in their respective leagues come together to battle for the trophy and be known as the champion of them all. How exactly do you think a league like this wouldn’t remain as competitive as always after a few seasons?

Players leaving for other leagues won’t affect the competition faced in the champions league. Using your logic, how about all those skilled players who have ended their football careers. Did their retirement have any impact on the competitiveness of the league? No.
When these best players you speak of join the Saudi or other league, there are new as well as old players who are equally amazing and hungry to be crowned champions.

The match you mean will happen today, not tomorrow. And I'm also sure that Manchester United will win at home against Wolves, because besides the squad changes at Manchester United this season. Wolves themselves are also not such a strong team that there is a possibility for Manchester United to win at home today, apart from that from the results of their previous meeting it is also clear that Manchester United is far superior to Wolves.

I too think Manchester United could win the game against Wolves and claim the 3 points. Asides playing at home, I think Manchester United has made some good changes to the squad and is poised to enter the game and come out with a win.

Manchester United is probably seen as the stronger side and they’re the favorites to win by a clear margin. I'm rooting for Man United to win the game and with their current squad and form, they’re looking really good for it too.
I also don’t want to get my hopes high up only to get crushed. Hopefully, with Onana guarding the goalpost, Man United would finish the game with a win along with a clean sheet.

Looks like hundreds of people have died in the Hawaii wildfires and Biden administration was very lax, at least during the initial phases. Official death toll is still 93, but according to media it may rise exponentially. Hawaii is still a deep blue territory, but the impact will be felt across the other states in the US. Opinion polls that will be released in the coming days may provide a better picture on how much the ground situation has changed. This is an ideal opportunity for Donald Trump and the rest of the GOP to swing the momentum in their favor.

You do know that the Governor of the affected state has to first hand in a request to the president to declare that a major disaster has occurred in the state and then, the presidents declaration activates federal help to the affected state. I wonder how you think Biden was negligent when he immediately approved Hawaii cry for federal help.
Yes, isn’t that what Trump and the GOP does? Wait for something bad to happen and capitalize on it without having any solutions themselves. When Puerto Rico was ravaged by a hurricane in 2017, what did he do? Withhold aid initially and later travelled there himself to literally throw paper towels at the crowd.
746  Economy / Economics / Re: Big companies will never let you have the financial freedom on: August 14, 2023, 02:35:46 AM
Owning a shitty small business is a lot better than working for someone else. That shitty small business may become big in the future but your paychecks will stay small forever.

It isn’t easy to startup and successfully run a business but it’s definitely worth it. Being employed and working for someone else, you invest your time, knowledge and skills in growing and managing someone else’s business/investments. All your efforts and hard work towards growing another person’s business would then be rewarded with just enough to foot your bills pending the next paycheck.
Running your own business no matter how small and shitty is a lot better. You don’t have to worry about ever getting laid off and if you work and persevere hard enough, the small shitty business would grow and expand and soon, you would have people working to help grow and manage your own investments.

If there wasn't any offside on Chilwell's goal maybe things would have been much more different for the Chelsea - Liverpool game. But it was still not seeming easy for Chelsea to win the game of course. They had a quite big dominance in ball possession but when it comes to finding chances there wasn't a big difference.

The problem for Liverpool was that they had big problems on finding the target. Despite 13 goal attempts only 1 of them was on target which ended up with a goal. It looks like Liverpool aren't quite ready for the season as well. But this is only the beginning so let's see the next ones.

I thought Chelsea had played well but were quite unlucky to have come out with a draw. If only they could have gotten more shots on target, perhaps they might have scored another to win the game. They had more time with the ball in their possession but failed to convert their chances gotten into more goals. I think they were pretty confident going in and perhaps that may be cause they had played in front of their home crowd.

Liverpool on the other hand, had about 13 shots at goal with just one hitting the target and ultimately giving them a goal that made the game end in a draw.
I think they had a bit of luck in that game coming out with a draw and gaining one point. They had one shot on target and one goal. Perhaps, if they had tried and gotten more of their shots on target, who knows…
748  Economy / Economics / Re: New Research found Work from home workers to be less productive on: August 13, 2023, 11:34:37 PM
These researchers found that if you work from home you will be less efficient and productive than people who from their office. Can we say the same about freelance workers?  Do you think that if workers are given the chance to "own" a task like freelancers they'll be more productive because it is just like being self-employed where you treat it as your business and not with the mindset of another man's business?

I do not share the same opinions of these researchers. Employees do not become less productive just cause they work from home. Admittedly, there would be some few people who might actually become less productive due to working from home as well with other reasons but I think majority of people who work from home tend to get the job done.
There are employees who work much better and are more productive with little to no supervision. Without your supervisor being physically present, breathing down your neck, watching your every move and making sure things are done by the book, an employee could learn to be innovative and more effective than others physically going into the office.

I think it mostly depends on the employee and the approach to work. An unproductive employee would remain unproductive working from either the home or the office.

749  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: He Committed Suicide After Losing School fees, And That Of Friend To Betting.. on: August 13, 2023, 10:42:15 PM

Parents also need to provide an early understanding of things they need to know at their age, including getting along with their friends. I feel that the association of young people in this era has sometimes exceeded its limits and no longer pays attention to ethics. And if it has anything to do with illegal activities like gambling or anything else, parents will have a hard time figuring it out. And that will cause more trouble for their parents if their child kills himself because of the problems he has made.

I agree. Parents should instill in the child at the proper time and age, discipline and what they should know about how peer pressure from so-called friends could pressure someone into doing something wrong.
I think parents also need to be more aware of their children and their behavioral changes as they grow older. Also, parents need to be really patient and understanding with their kids. Be readily accessible to your kids so they know they could always rely and come to you with their problems without the fear of being judged and reprimanded all the time. A child may barely contemplate suicide if when having fucked up, could easily confide in the parents for help.

In this particular case of the young man who sadly ended his life, I think he was more scared of what his parents would think of him and probably do as well.
750  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Germany League - Bundesliga Prediction Thread on: August 13, 2023, 09:05:23 PM
It's early into the season and yes this was an important cup and yes I understand all the jokes about Kane not getting a cup again, surely it's funny. But just because they lost now, doesn't mean that they are going to keep on losing. They may end up doing a lot better and they may end up being a lot different over course of the season.

Last season they still managed to win thanks to Dortmund, and this year with Mane gone and Kane in, feels like it's going to be much better. They will grow better without a doubt. Should be something that takes time though, they can't adjust the system in a single day. I still see them as the biggest title contender in the league, they always are, and feel like they always will be.

Actually, I don’t find all the jokes about Kane not being able to attach a trophy yet to his football career amusing or funny. He’s an amazing and experienced player but he alone cannot do everything in a team and win trophies in the end.
This is Bayern Munich we’re talking about. Just cause they had lost to Leipzig doesn’t mean they’re going to keep on playing and losing. They’ve always been strong contenders in the Bundesliga as long as I remember and have won the title a whole lot of times too. Perhaps these jokes would stop when Bayern goes ahead again to win the league title for the umpteen time.
751  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: August 13, 2023, 08:18:35 PM
Both teams tried very well to maintain the score line by avoiding too many goals in the match because, as I predicted before the beginning of the match, I knew that each team would try to score goals; therefore, goal goal was my prediction for the match.

Liverpool's performance was not impressive because they have more Premier League-experienced players than Chelsea, which just signed some players that are yet to get to know the Premier League style of play.

I don’t think having some experience playing just in the Premier League matters a lot. A good and experienced player would still play good football irrespective of moving over to play in a new club and league.

I too had thought both teams could score a goal. I wasn’t quite sure who was going to come out the victor in that game and I agree with you. Liverpool didn’t play with much enthusiasm as I had envisaged. And in my opinion, they’re the lucky ones to have come out of that game with a draw. Chelsea played with some confidence and it showed with their time and possession with the ball.
752  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The fight between Mark Zuckerberg and Elon Musk. Who you betting on? on: August 13, 2023, 07:41:42 PM

That's what makes the people to be more curious if they are indeed making the fight happen because both of them are saying the same thing, it's not just a plain words because both of them are also having their respective preparations for the fight. But yes, I do agree with you, they have something different in mind that is why they are making these things and staying relevant to the public.

I don’t think any of them would need to hint of the possibility of a fight to stay relevant. They’re relevant and always talked about and really don’t need the prospect of a fight to stay relevant.

Elon seems to be the one mostly hinting and talking about the possibility of a fight on his newly rebranded social media app, X. I’m inclined to think that he seeks to get more engagements from his followers and others on the app. And he seems to be getting it too as more people are tweeting away about the fight that may never take place.
He gets more engagements on his app and he also gets to be at the center of all that attention. A win win.
753  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League 2023/24 Season on: August 11, 2023, 02:02:19 PM
Tottenham has been a failure to many players, Kane has been in the club all his entire life, raise them to many group and finals but they always failed to bring something home, with all the experience he had in Premier League and the Champions League, no any that was lifted, zero effort and time wasted but atleast he has made name in the club, they will never forget him, it will take another great player to break what his has done for the club.

I agree with you on the opinion that Tottenham wouldn’t forget Harry Kane in a hurry. He has been extremely loyal to the club and has helped the club the best he could. He would surely be missed.
With his exit at Spurs, he would make a great addition to the team at Bayern Munich. Perhaps, the feats and results he couldn’t get at Spurs would now be gotten at Bayern. He’s a player with a lot of experience under his belt and that experience would be utmost useful at his new club. With Kane amongst the team, does Bayern has what it takes to go ahead to win the champions league trophy? I guess that remains to be seen.

The Japan - Sweden game is underway and so far it's in it's 30th minutes. Both sides are creating chances but none has found the net. Japan are pressing the Swedish side and are coming close to goal and I believe if there's going to be any goal in the first half, it would be from them(Japan). I predict this game to end in a 2-1 win in favor of Japan.

The game is now over and Sweden has clinched the victory with 2 goals to Swedens 1. Japan scored a late goal to give them an equalizer and I did think they would go harder and strive four another goal to have the game go into penalties.
Japan had more of the ball in their possession but couldn’t do much with it as Sweden had more chances to score goals. If you had placed a bet on this game, you would have lost out as Sweden was the first to score in the first half and went on the win the game. You predicted the correct final scoreline, but not the winner.

Nice to read that finally a star is not going to saudi arabia, but to america. The country will probably be a lot more fun in the last 2-3 years of his career. Even if he will earn less money there, playing with messi is cool. Playing with ronaldo is great too, of course. I think there is a different sense of community, because david beckham owns the club and play soccer very successfully in his career. In the future i hope a few more players will go to america and make football better there.

It’s sure refreshing to see players overlook the financial aspect of going to Saudi Arabia than going over to America to play football. This tell me that not everyone is motivated by the amount to be paid.
He would definitely earn much less than he would have earned if he made the move to the Saudi league but then again, he isn’t moved by money and that, I think is really cool. Playing alongside Messi is also cool. Hopefully, more players would overlook the pay gap and make the move to play in the US. Soccer isn’t as watched as it should in the US and perhaps, the arrival of these players could help in some way.

Statistically, we can't deny that Man City is superior in every way and that is a fact. But I also don't rule out that Burnley is a club trying to become a defensive club after they struggled to get into the Premier League. Even though the final result Burnley had to lose in the match later, the most important thing is that they have gained a lot of experience to be able to make their debut in the Premier League again against this year's champion club. So in my opinion it doesn't matter if Burnley loses badly, because what they have to make an important point is to be motivated that competing in the Premier League is not easy.

Manchester City is obviously the superior team both practically and on paper. Burnley in my opinion shouldn’t be looked upon as a walkover that would easily hand the 3 points to Man City. They’ve struggled and earned their place in the premier league. I wouldn’t classify them a push over and I’m eager to see their performance during this season.
I’m not exactly expecting much from them in the first game with Man City as City is obviously the stronger side and is most likely set to win the game. I’m sure Burnley is motivated enough and knows the competition in the premier league is a lot different.
757  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: August 11, 2023, 11:24:17 AM
English Premier League Round 1 is going to start first match Manchester City vs Burnley. We know that Manchester City will definitely win this match because Manchester City has become the champion as the best team of the season. Every player will perform exceptionally to make Manchester City better this season. burnley is not a very strong team manchester city 2022/23 epl champion team and it will be very difficult for burnley to cope with this team. According to the points table of 2023-24 EPL, Burnley is at the 6th position and Manchester City is at the 13th position. If Manchester City wins today's match then they will go to the top of the points table and there is no doubt that Manchester City will win today's match. Manchester City will probably welcome the City fans with their win at the start of the new season.

Even if I’m pretty confident of a Manchester City win in the first game of the new season against Burnley, I like to keep an open mind. Burnley may surprise us all and come out with a win or perhaps hold Man City to a draw. Burnley may not be a strong team and compared to Man City, they’re seen as no challenge at all. But there are times where the seemingly lower team goes ahead to win the game against a tougher opponent. We could perhaps see that in this game.
I’m hoping to see Burnley play good football after having worked hard and later being promoted to the EPL. Even if they lose their first game to City, they’re still lots of games to play and prove themselves.
758  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: August 10, 2023, 09:08:36 PM
Well the opening game is always tricky, I expect Manchester City to win, maybe with 2 goals and Erling Haaland to score too, I don't think he will score hattrick but maybe a goal or two.
I am personally waiting to see Chelsea - Liverpool match in Stamford Bridge since Liverpool odds look better in that away game. I wonder know if Klopp will be able to restore the team to its good and successful shape.

The opening game is always anticipated by both fans and players and mistakes due to the pressure of trying to win the first game of the season, could be made on the pitch. I too envisage a Manchester City win but for Haaland to score, I can’t really say.
Knowing him as the danger man capable of scoring goals, he may be well tackled and marked. Being tightly marked has not fully stopped him before from scoring goals as he still tries to lose his marker and open up for passes from his teammates.
I’m eagerly awaiting the first game of the new season.
759  Economy / Economics / Re: Big companies will never let you have the financial freedom on: August 10, 2023, 08:46:07 PM
Obviously, big corporations would try to grab all the profits for themselves leaving crumbs to trickle down to the floor where the common man grovels, hoping for a little piece of the pie.
Why would they let anyone be financially independent and not having to depend/pay heavily for their goods or services rendered? They would love total dependency from the masses and in a way, they’re getting it too.

Same thing goes with the government. Any government would love and dream of a controlled and obedient citizenry. Citizens that wouldn’t question any actions taken. That dream isn’t possible with a democracy so the government would always cook up schemes and policies that would aim keep the people controlled and in a way, supervised.
Anything that would foil their plans at controlling its citizens would be seen as a threat and would be fought against. Take a look at bitcoin.
760  Other / Off-topic / Re: Keeping your gambling habit a secret. on: August 10, 2023, 08:19:45 PM

Those that keep their gambling habit a secret is it that they're not proud of what they are doing?.

I think people keep their day to day activities secret from people including their family for lots of reasons.
People might feel they would be judged if they open up to friends and family about their gambling interests. We as humans are sometimes too quick to form an opinion and judge others on things we don’t really understand ourselves.

A lot of people would rather keep their activities private to keep tongues from wagging. And there’s also the point of not being proud of what you’re doing for various reasons.
A lot of cultures and religions today might not see gambling as an acceptable activity to indulge in hence the need to keep the habit a secret.
