741  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: November 25, 2023, 04:24:54 PM
Liverpool played more attacking football than defensive football in the second half and that earned them an equalizer against Manchester City at Etihad Stadium. Manchester City Doku had an impressive play against Liverpool, he was a big threat against Liverpool's defense, but his crosses were not converted into a goal. Salah pulled out a poor performance against Manchester City, he was lost on the pitch, maybe luck was not on his side today.
Arsenal now has the opportunity to top the league if they can win Brentford in the game today. They missed the opportunity to win the League last season but let's see if they can top the league and maintain their top position till the end. The match between Liverpool and Manchester City was tough but the former was able to withstand the attacking force of City.

That free kick was beautiful, I've been watching the technique used and it was just perfect. Before the free kick given to him, he should have made good use of that ball honestly. That was a good goal scoring opportunity which he snoozed. Joelinton doesn't play like a Brazilian, I don't even know why he made the line up. He had a free header but also missed.

Chelsea responded very well and they've been playing well. The offside trap was well kept but Cucurellla failed to make his moves smarter.
I'm suspecting the game to end as a draw, we'll see no more goals in the second half in my own opinion.
I feel like the lad Alexander Isak has been rushed into the lineup too quickly, good positioning and timing for that goal. Chelsea also have to invest in a new Goalkeeper.
Cucurrella failed to watch the offside line and this led to the goal by Newcastle United. Thanks to Sterling for that wonderful free kick. Jackson has been terrible in this game. He has failed to make any meaningful move in the attack. I think he shouldn't be in the first team. Chelsea has just conceived two quick goals. Now Newcastle is two goals ahead and I doubt if Chelsea will recover from this game.
742  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin network fees are not high is you who can't afford it. on: November 25, 2023, 03:42:14 PM

Please 🙏 the basis for this thread is not to create an argument rather but to trigger up discussions that can help our basic knowledge.
Also, I have tried to edit the title a bit to give it a better introduction to what the ops really covers, hope this works well for you guys.
We can claim that paying high fees is better than losing privacy especially if you can afford it. But these fees will make Bitcoin less competitive because even fiat transactions are now cheaper. But it is wonderful that you rephrased that topic to enable newbies to know that the high transaction fee is temporal and this topic can now foster discussions that will help expose newbies to alternatives. Lightning Network will be a good option to for those seeking low transactions option..

Are you trying to show off because you can afford the transaction fee? I can also afford it but honestly it's a waste of money,  there is nothing to be ashamed of if you decide to queue using small transaction fee or just abandon the transaction for now and try again another day.
The OP has debunked the insinuation that he is unconcerned with the high transaction fees because he is rich. He has also apologized for the misconception his topic has created.
743  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How much do you Trust Bitcoin ? on: November 23, 2023, 11:33:23 AM
To what extent do you believe in the long-term viability and stability of Bitcoin as a leading cryptocurrency, considering the impact of decentralized finance (DeFi) and non-fungible tokens (NFTs) on its perceived value, adoption, and regulatory landscape? How do you perceive the potential influence of DeFi and NFTs on the trustworthiness and growth potential of Bitcoin, and how does this factor into your overall level of trust in the digital asset ?
To make it simple from 0 to 100  how much do u trust on Bitcoin ?

A currency that has consistently maintained its nature for 14 years should be trusted. Bitcoin has never derailed from the whitepaper published by its founder. It has also been able to grow stronger even in the face of attacks and diverse challenges. Bitcoin is designed to be a decentralized currency which means it displaces any form of intermediary. Any decentralized finance that promotes peer-to-peer financial services will be a plus to the Bitcoin ecosystem. Regulation is an enemy of Bitcoin because it will limit its quest to promote pseudonymous financial transactions.

But it is also important to note that we don't just trust in the Bitcoin space, we verify. And doing your own research is an ideal way to verify a coin or service in the crypto sector. To answer your question, I trust Bitcoin 100% more than any other cryptocurrency.
744  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Who's next in line? on: November 23, 2023, 09:31:26 AM
  • FTX boss, SBF's trial finally came to an end few weeks ago and the crypto community are anxiously waiting to hear the final verdict come 28 March 2024.
  • Bittrex's winding down and $24 million dollars penalty settlement.
  • Binance fined of a whooping $4.3 billion dollars, the highest ever paid by an exchange and CZ pleading guilty to money laundering.

Which exchange or CEO do you think is going down next?

It is quite unfortunate to see the biggest exchange facing this level of attack from the government. Binance is the most popular exchange in my location but I am glad that it didn't affect its operations. I listened to the live conference by the US Department of Justice where Attorney General Merrick B. Garland outlined the various crimes of Binance. His comments made it look like CZ International violated US laws because of profit. The comments from the representatives of the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN), Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) and the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) during the conference show that the US government wants to fully regulate the crypto ecosystem within its territory.

The message is clear, if you don't want us to see and control everything you are doing, leave the US crypto market. The next exchange that will go under the hammer of the government are those that fail to comply with the draconian laws the government has put in place. My only fear is that the actions of the US regulators might have a ripple effect on other nations. Since many countries look to copy policies from the US, we might begin to see the same moves from other nations.

But I am glad that Bitcoin is gradually becoming independent of the effects of the attacks on crypto-related businesses. Everyone expected that the price of Bitcoin would fall further than what it is now, but the coin is resilient.
745  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Italian League Prediction Thread (Serie A) on: November 23, 2023, 08:40:51 AM
I have noticed a decline in Kvaratskhelia's performance and it is very unfortunate because his performance was so brilliant last season and now his name is starting to disappear a little and he is losing the stage he usually gets in every match with Napoli. Kvaratskhelia has above average speed and dribbling and that is what makes him difficult for opposing defenders to stop, but what has happened now is that he has lost this since being in the hands of Rudi Garcia and cannot develop it any further. Moving to another team would be better for his career because he already won the Scudetto last season and with Napoli's disarray since Spalletti left, this team will have difficulty defending its title.
The Georgian striker has managed to score just four goals in eleven appearances in the Seria A and one goal after featuring in four Champions League games. Although Khvicha Kvaratskhelia's performance started depreciating at the end of last season it became worse after Rudi Garcia took over the club. He has failed to produce those dangerous runs that destabilized many defenders last season. He was known for creating goalscoring chances and assisting others to score.

However, Napoli's new coach Walter Mazzarri is known for bringing the best out of players. He was instrumental in the improvement of the performance of Edinson Cavani, Ezequiel Lavezzi, and Marek Hamsik. Rudi Garcia caused a lot of harm both in the pitch performance and also in the dressing room. There were speculations that the players were not united because the Frenchman's style of leadership led to conflict among the players.

747  Economy / Gambling discussion / Do you believe in psychic betting? on: November 22, 2023, 06:11:31 PM
Psychic betting is placing bets based on the prediction of individuals or even animals because of the belief that they possess supernatural power to accurately determine the outcome of a bet. There is the true story of Fatih Ozcan[1] who helped his boss Hayati Kucukkoylu to win a $1.7 million lottery through the power of dreams. He claimed that he received the revelation about the Euro Millions tickets from his dreams. There is also Paul the Psychic Octopus [2] who is known to predict international football games correctly. He even predicted correctly that Spain would win the  2010 FIFA World Cup. Some persons also believe in the gambling predictions of religious leaders [3] to place bets. Some people believe that lunatics are possessed by some supernatural powers so they also depend on them for predictions.

Do you take these Psychic predictions seriously?

748  Economy / Economics / Re: You are the product. Corporations spying on us deeper than we thought? on: November 22, 2023, 07:46:10 AM
I'm pretty sure it's not a coincidence. I have experienced something similar before, just didn't pay attention. I have used both Android and IOS it doesn't matter really. Whatever I mention in my conversation: car tyres, dog food or Bitcoin, targeted ads appear every time. And note I wasn't googling these items.

Yes, perhaps it was my fault by giving access to these apps but when you're installing Instagram for example, you kind of expect it will ask for camera permissions right?
These big tech companies have denied that they are not listening to our conversation but I think they are not telling the truth. I did a brief search online and discovered that OP is not alone in his observation.
Zoe Kleinman a BBC Technology Reporter also had the same concern. There is also a thread in Reddit that is discussing the same observation. Another source also reported that four years ago about 1000 Google Assistant harvested voice recordings collected from Android phones were leaked to a Belgium media house.

I have not experienced this issue maybe because I have not paid attention to my conversation and the ads I see. This is a clear indication that we can only do our best to maintain our privacy but we might not be able to stop these firms from invading it because they have eyes and ears everywhere around us.
749  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Two Carreer skill benefit of gambling on: November 22, 2023, 06:47:59 AM
There exist over one million and one reason why people hate gambling, but few benefits of gambling can make a player to outsmart his colleagues in the office. Or even in an interview. I was able to check how gambling benefits relate to what HR officers look out for in a candidate before hiring them. There are 2 main benefit of gambling that improves the major skills people look out for in an employee in every offices.
Religious sentiment and social misconception is the reason many people are against gambling. They just assume that gambling is an abnormal behavior because few people have gambling disorders. They forget that gambling gives revenue to the government and also has some positive financial impact on the individual gamblers.

Quote
1. Critical thinking: there have never been any job opening that doesn't require candidates to have this skill, because every company needs it to grow. And under critical thinking include skills like problem solving, idealist etc.
To be a good gambler one has to develop analytical skills. The ability to pay attention to details, observe, and reason is what makes one a productive gambler. Gambling helps people to think constructively and make accurate predictions. I do not doubt that gamers one the smartest people because they can generate and interpret ideas to make predictions.

2. Socialization: Mainly the corporate world will call it interpersonal relationship. It's a very crucial skill anywhere we find ourselves in the world. And gamblers who participate in board games, easily develop the skill. When in the office, they'll always socialize and make friends with co-workers.
Although gambling shouldn't be used as a substitute for boredom it could serve as an option for acute isolation. Introverts will find gambling useful to socialize and interact with people. This benefit is more pronounced in physical casinos but online platforms also offer the same privilege. The friendly atmosphere of casinos is one of the reasons I visit it occasionally. If you want to develop interpersonal skills responsible gambling is a good option.
750  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Feeling more comfortable while integrating into the forum community on: November 22, 2023, 06:08:59 AM
Honesty and transparency is the key. Even if you can't give the best idea or suggestion from a single thread, that's okay. No one will criticize you for that as long as you give your honest and genuine answer that everyone can relate. Getting merits is not actually giving the best ideas in the forum, sometimes its more on relating with other people that they become satisfied with your desires to give them the most honest answers.
The problem with some newbies is that they are very impatient. When they see the merit some members have earned they assume that it was received in a few weeks. This will push them to begin to devise means to acquire their own merits. In the process, they want to create posts they feel will earn them merit. This is why we are seeing threads created by chatbots increasing in the forum. The reason for the use of these AI tools is to create posts that they don't even understand to get merit. They want to skip the process of learning and understanding the forum and the workings of the crypto space. If you want to enjoy this forum, you need to take a step per time in your adventure don't claim to know what you have zero or little knowledge about.
751  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: When does the moment come when the gambler loses control? on: November 21, 2023, 11:14:15 AM
There is an opinion that the greatest dependence on gambling is formed at the moment of a big win. The player understands that money can be earned LIKE THIS. This is a fairly common opinion.

But I believe that the greatest dependence on gambling appears at the moment of loss, when the player admits in his head the idea that he could earn so much. He is disappointed, but wants to recoup. It is at this moment that the desire comes to play again and again in order to return to the previous state.

What do you think about it?
Both assumptions are correct because people could react to wins and losses differently. Inexperienced gamblers who win big in their early days in gambling might assume that it is easy to win. This might make them depend on gambling wins to meet their needs because of the assumption that they can easily win. The other assumption is called loss chasing. This behavior is fueled by the feeling that you will recover your losses if you keep playing. But this is not always the case because playing more games doesn't guarantee more wins. Taking a break after constant loss is advisable and following a gambling budget is ideal.
752  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: November 21, 2023, 10:14:33 AM
Like you, My money is on Liverpool. Over the course of 1 year, Liverpool have rebuilt our midfield and so far, I'm pretty impressed with the results that we have managed to obtain  is very promising — just 1 point behind city despite being dealt a wrong decision that impacted our Tottenham vs Liverpool game which cost us points. That notwithstanding, it's going to be an interesting game maybe not as interesting as Chelsea vs Man city 4-4 game before the international break but would still be a good watch.

About possible goals, I don't think there would be plenty of goals. Looks like a 1-0, 1-1,0-1 tight goal margin kimd of game but this is football and anything can happen.
The game will be very difficult to predict because both teams are in top form. City will be without Mateo Kovacic, Nathan Ake, Matheus Nunes, Ederson, and Erling Haaland which might have little effect on the cityzen's performance because these players a very important to the team. Liverpool has injury concerns with players like Konaté, Gravenberch, Gomez, and Robertson sidelined for the big game. In the last four games that both teams played, City won two and the Reds also got two wins.

The outcome of the game might be determined by the tactical skills of both coaches. Luckily both teams have two of the most experienced coaches in the EPL. I am predicting that the game might end in a draw or City might have the advantage because they are at home in Etihad Stadium. A draw might not comfortable for both sides because it will give both Arsenal and Tottenham the opportunity of moving to the top two spots. But a win from any side will solidify thier hold on the top spot.
753  Economy / Economics / Re: this makes a huge impact on the economy. on: November 21, 2023, 09:17:39 AM
I noticed majority of the people in my area tend to spend more money then usual when they get their salary, like buying things they don't really need.
I said majority of people because my dad owns a grocery store, I have noticed that most of the customers tend to buy more stuff on the 1st and 10th day of the month because on these days they get paid in my country.
I already seeing this pattern on news or business related youtube videos, but I didn't think it was a big deal.
Now I realized that its very important to consider this behavior of people when making business decisions because it can have a big impact on the sales or finances.
I am surprised by it because in my family we usually buy only things we really need, I am starting to understand how other people's spending habits can affect the business.

Do you also find yourself spending more on you payday?, or you approach your expenses differently?
I don't really know how you came to the conclusion that they don't really need what they are buying. Using your father's grocery shop as an example is not valid because groceries are an essential need. Usually, people always buy what they need at the end of the month when they receive their pay. My family makes a list of what is needed for the month and it is bought immediately after salaries are paid.

There are also people that a wasteful spenders. They don't plan how to spend what they earn and don't even save for the future. I know some people who drive straight to nightclubs immediately after they receive their salaries. They are not concerned about investing or having emergency funds. These set of people buy not because they need it but because they can afford it. In most cases, they will access loans or credit before the end of the month because of careless spending.

I live in a country where if don't plan, you will end up a debtor or a beggar. The economic situation has forced most people to spend only on what they need. I have a monthly budget that enables me to spend only what I need and also assist me in keeping aside funds for investment and emergency. There is no difference between my payday and other days because I already have a plan.
754  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 9 Years Before He finally claim his lotto rewards on: November 21, 2023, 08:31:58 AM
My questions are :
Do you think it's worth the wait, he's getting 6% interest per annum but he still has to pay a lot of money and suffers a lot even to the point of having a rift with his daughter
Will you do the same thing and fight for your rights to claim the prize
Antonio Mendoza is indeed a motivation to the gambling community for his patience and doggedness. Although he had to suffer so much mental, financial and even emotional loss in the course of these protracted legal battles the good news is that he won the case and will receive his reward. He will indeed spend some money on legal fees, tax and other incurred expenses but at least he would be left with some money. It is also good that he was given 6% to cover the effect of inflation on his win since the Philippines' highest inflation rate for the past nine years is 5.82%.

I don't think I would have been patient enough to keep fighting for nine years. Maybe he has a good legal team and family members who kept motivating him to keep fighting till the end. This process will be frustrating, energy and financially consuming. Many people just like me would have seen it as bad luck and continued our normal lives.

The Philippine's legal system should also receive an accolade for standing with an ordinary citizen. Most of these gambling firms are influential and heavily connected. They would have influenced the outcome of the legal matters if the judiciary was corrupt.
755  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will Argentina Be The Next El Salvador To Accept Bitcoin As Legal Tender? on: November 21, 2023, 07:50:59 AM
The government cannot function without the central bank and will not (cannot) replace that with Bitcoin.
I wonder how Javier Milei will run a large economy like Argentina without a central bank. I know that some small economies don't have a central bank such as Andorra, Isle of Man, Kiribati, Nauru, Palau, etc. He talk about the dollarization of the Argentine economy which might mean that the Latin American nation will have to depend on the monetary policies of the the Federal Reserve.

Milley sees Bitcoin as a transformative solution to improve her standard of living in Argentina. He envisions it as a way to return control of money to the private sector. Milley sees the decentralized nature of Bitcoin as the right way out of the centralized control exercised by Argentina's traditional financial institutions, including the central bank.
I see this as a political statement targeted at getting the votes of the people. I am sure he is aware that bitcoin cannot single-handedly change the fortune of the already battered Argentine economy. Argentina's friendliness with Bitcoin will attract investors and tourists to the country and it could also help in building an inflation-resistant economy. But it should be noted that bitcoin is not the only solution to the economic problems of the third biggest economy in Latino America.
756  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is this a good advice? on: November 20, 2023, 01:44:19 PM
I keep seeing gamblers advising themselves that you are one step closer to winning the jackpot when you quit too early,  it's sad that they strongly believe this.

Is this true?
I have heard gamblers make such statements but I believe that it is just a motivation not to quit gambling because your lucky day might be close. There are cases where gamblers quit gambling out of frustration due to constant losses. This saying is like an encouragement to keep gaming because quiting early is not an option.

Quote
This advice is actually making gamblers believe that they can win when they spend a lot of more time in the casino, they strongly believe that not stopping or taking break will bring them closer to their jackpot.
Maybe this advice was misinterpreted because spending more time or money on casinos doesn't guarantee winning. Taking a break helps to improve concentration and also gives bettors the privilege to evaluate their gambling activity or experience.

Quote
One of em told me that this is why I don't win, that I only gamble when I feel like, he said constantly gambling is a must if you want to win, but I disagree, because I have seen too many people not knowing when to quit until it was too late.
Everybody is entitled to his own opinion. This might be his own experience but this is not the correct position. Constant gambling might also lead to ceaseless losses. Gambling might not be favourable every time so there is always a need to follow a budget.

Quote
To me, gambling is a theater, a form of entertainment that I pay for, not a way to get rich quick, for them it's a must to win by force, one question seem to change his mood though.

I asked him why he isn't rich yet if he is actively gambling every time for all this while, this changed his mood and I took a turn.
Your gambling view is correct. It shouldn't be seen as a source of income because it is unpredictable. It is possible to be rich gambling but we shouldn't rely on it to get rich because big wins come once in a while. I liked the question you asked him, at least it showed that his beliefs are invalid assumptions.
757  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Italian League Prediction Thread (Serie A) on: November 20, 2023, 05:56:38 AM
If you look at the odds, it might be true that Juventus will be much more favored to win this match than Inter Milan because they will be motivated enough to beat Inter Mila to be able to top the standings. However, that doesn't mean that Inter Milan doesn't have the same chance of winning the match because compared to Juventus, Inter Milan has so far been much more consistent in Serie A. If you look at the head to head results, they are still quite balanced in the previous five matches, but this season there is a slight difference where Inter Milan is trying to be the best in Serie A with the results they have achieved.
Both teams have an equal chance to win this game based on their present performance. Inter Milan is just two points away from Juventus and it seems that they also have two of the best coaches in the Italian Serie A. Massimiliano Allegri has been an extraordinary coach who has stood with Juventus all through the club's trial period and with his tactical acumen, he has continued to make the Bianconeri a force in the league. Juventus has a more determined team that will put up a strong fight in this game.

But Simone Inzaghi's is not also an easy nut to crack. Although key players like Benjamin Pavard and Alessandro Bastoni are injured, the Nerazzurri will want to please their fans in the Allianz Stadium. To replace the injured players coach Inzaghi might deploy Matteo Darmian and Francesco Acerbi who are also good players. Inter have scored the highest goals and as equally conceived the least goals, so he will be watching a complete team against one of the best in the league.

I am not too optimistic about this change of coach. Napoli has never been this top team that can perform like for several years like they did last season. Lots of teams have years when they play extraordinary football and seem to be unstoppable. But those that don't do that on a consistent level often experience a decline in their performance in the season after and this is what I thought would also happen with Napoli after this insane first half last season. It was never possible for them to top that and getting close to it. Everything worked smoothly for them, every result was perfect and every game that could have ended with a draw eventually ended with a win for them. Now they are taking actions while I believe that the also failed to properly classify what they have achieved last season.
Walter Mazzarri has not been a successful coach after he left a Napoli where he won Italian Cup in 2012 and help the club to finish second in the league. He failed in Inter, Watford, Torino and Cagliari and have not had a top coaching club for the past ten years. I see his appointment as a gamble maybe he was appointment because of his close relationship with Aurelio De Laurentiis. His appointment might also because of his low wage bill since the club will still have to be paying the sacked coach until 2024. We just have to wait and see how he would change the fortune of the club.
758  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What do you bet on when your league is in break? on: November 20, 2023, 05:06:22 AM
It seems that almost the average gambler is looking for other alternative games to get entertainment. like you who return to slot games, some gamblers may not like games like that. but I prefer to bet on other parts of the league I follow on a break.
Even though I don't understand the competing teams, I just bet randomly by luck. of course, it's not a big bet. Betting on UFC matches is also interesting for me. Apart from football betting, I also bet on UFC matches.
Once you get used to the time you usually use for gambling it is difficult to replace it with other activities. I tried to take a break from gambling when my favourite spots league ended but it was very difficult. I tried replacing it with video games but  I couldn't get that satisfaction I get when I gamble. Some people might call it addiction but I don't think so because I still gamble within my budget but I just see it as my lifestyle routine. Since I have little knowledge of any other sports, immediately after my preferred game season ends, casino games will be my best option. Casino games are also exciting because they come in different forms and varieties and they can be played at any time and season. But loyalty to sports clubs always makes sports bets a combination of passion and profit-seeking.

#HODLing is not a smooth journey, do you agree? Grin
Totally agree, it is mostly easier said than done for most investors. I personally can recall the different juicy opportunities I have missed to really make it big in this space as a result of a lack of patience to HODL. Especially those early days in crypto when you barely understand the market and easily get freaked out with every FUD and market dip.
Experience is the best teacher they say and I believe the majority of us are more experienced and mature over the years of being in crypto.

What is your view on #Hodling Guys?

source

We came into the crypto space with so much expectations. Some of us were not given the right information so we thought investing in crypto would make us rich overnight. After sometime it became clear that the sector is not a get-rich-quick scheme and like other solid forms of investment it has risks and requires patience and bravery. The journey of hodling in getting to the level of making a profit is not easy because the media is filled with news that spreads FUD. And lack of understanding of the market will make you miss uncommon opportunities to make a profit because may sell your hodling below target due to FUD.

But as one begins to understand the market, hodling becomes more easier because you have understood the basics of investment. We have to invest what we can live without and having a good emergency fund is an important advice every investor should know. Investing what you can afford to live without will make you to be patient while having emergency funds will be of help when you are faced with unpredictable problems without tampering with your investment.
760  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Javier Milei just won the presidentiial election in Argentina on: November 20, 2023, 03:51:03 AM
Political pundits said Javier Milei is the Argentine version of Donald Trump and he has come up with various radical policies which include the dollarization of the country, cutting government spending through the reduction of ministries from 18 to 8 and he usually speaks well about Bitcoin. Argentina has an economy that is battered by inflation and other challenges which means that Javier Milei has a lot of work to do to bring back the nation to its past glory.

His positive stance on Bitcoin is a good omen for the community because it will lead to more awareness and adoption. Argentina is the third biggest economy in Latin America which means more publicity and more business opportunities for Bitcoin businesses. But politicians cannot be trusted because they always fail to fulfill campaign promises.  In most cases, these campaign promises are to gain public support and nothing more. Time will tell if he has good intentions for Bitcoin or if he just used to coin to gain support from young voters.
