Recently I watched a video by Sabine Hossenfelder, where she showed a graph of the current speed of development on Quantum computing and a projection until when this techonology is estimated to probably crack current wide-spread encryption technology. (I did a quick search but did not find that particular video, you can check a new one on the topic here, though: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CBLVtCYHVO8) The projected date was between 2030 and 2040. The exact dates do not matter much imho, the important fact is, that current state-of-the-art-cryptography WILL become obsolete within the next 10 to 25 years.
I don't want to go into detail, why this will probably not widely impact our current system(s) relying on these encryption-techs too much. Short version: All bigger companies, governments and institutions are aware that these techs need to be updated within rougly the next decade and current development already has quantum-proof solutions. These will (hopefully / most likely) be implemented in all critical infrastructure (banking, communications, accounting, any password-based stuff, severs, crypto, etcetc.) and ideally most end-users won't even notice much of a transition. HOWEVER: All funded crypto collectibles rely on this old, NON-QUANTUM-PROOF encryption (sha256 and whatnot to hash publickeys and addresses from the underlying private key), and therefore are doomed to securely hold funds longterm, as long as the public keys were exposed at any point in time. The main reason: A physical collectible cannot be upgraded to quantum-proof as it would be possible with any software. Yeah, it may still seem like a long shot, and there is a chance it will take (much) longer than currently be projected - but I don't think just hoping is the right approach as physical crypto collectors. tldr: Sooner or later we will have to peel all our funded collectibles to avoid getting quatum-swept by some powerful organasation or government.
I didn't do a deep-dive into the topic (yet), these are just random thoughts I'd like to discuss here, happy to hear any insights and ideas on the topic from anyone that has something to say about it.

I think this is the lowest I have personally seen on ebay, the forum, or anywhere #361 satori I got from Japan ![Cool](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/cool.gif) ![](https://ip.bitcointalk.org/?u=https%3A%2F%2Fi.imgur.com%2FKm3Y4sx.jpg&t=664&c=K2UzjwdSkF6GNw) This is just an amazingly low serial, wow! Didn't want to hijack another recent satori-sales thread, so asking here: Is there any grading for Satoris possible right now? I recently got a few ICG "verified" but they don't grade them. If there is no actual grading for Satoris available right now this would make any existing graded chips extra rare I guess?

Been trying to avoid most things related to this yogg-up for a while now. Was about to move on. But seeing this sweep just goes to show: - Words are wind, there seems to be no remorse whatsoever. At least his priorities are clear. - Sweeping an insanely tiny amount of 10x 0.0021 (around 500 USD at this point in time) makes it clear that that he's either extremely desperate or just doesn't give any fucks (if he ever did?), willing to grab anything in his rech for his own benefit. Probably a mix of both.
Disgusting to see another friendship/collaboration destroyed by sick greed. My condolences to bitcoiner24h and anyone owning one of these.

Haha omg, what a stunt! Well, considering where Bitcoin might be headed within the next 10+ years, maybe there will truely be an incentive to retrive the keys at some point in time.
Meanwhile I am just curious to see to which levels Musk will push Doge and if there will indeed ever be an implementation within twitter.

Lot 3, 3@ 0.002
Question regarding lot1: How many of these sets do exist? It's been a while, how many of these sets were produced? (got 200 in mind but not sure)

Still haven't peeled (I know it's probably one of the more stupid gamles out there, roulette has better odds, that's for sure). But rn I can't access the note for over 1 month, so fingers crossed. Last time in hand (already post-yogging) I didn't have the heart to do it. Next time I'm gonna do it and accept polymerbit's replacement offer.

Fantastic presentation and great theme again! Love that set, pm sent.
Finish on the last 3-coin set was amazing, looking forward to see these in person.

Oh, that's a crazy cool piece of art (the skull-sculpture). Here is a video in case OPs link doesn't work for you: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u0mQ7CxyICwbtw: Ridiculous idea to just change some code to reduce Bitcoins energy consumption by 99%. PoW or what exactly is this "amazing idea"?

66 - kryptowerk
And I really really plan on joining next Sundays tournament. If that counts please also add: 86 - kryptowerk
Thanks for the raffle in any case.

Received mine and can confirm, they do look as great as it seems from the pics. If implemented in a great routine, these coins could be awesome for some EURO-coin-magic. Maybe a little too valueable of a coin to use, but still...

All the same, 6 minutes for level 1 is not enough. I did not have time to enjoy the game during these 2 hours. In any case, it was a pleasure to see you all and I hope to see you next Sunday. ![Cheesy](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/cheesy.gif) Congrats to our winner and the runner-ups. Wasn't able to participate but trying my best next time. Knockout bounties sound like a fun extra, but any kind of community tournament is appreachiated.

Oh yes, count me in please.

Transaction id coming soon, I can send payment tomorrow the latest if that's okay. Thanks for another raffle!

Lot 1: .011 - note the CI does have some discoloration of the Silver on the edges but still a very cool item and happy to bid. Lot 2: .003
Yeah, I noticed many / most (?) CI coins tend to have these tarnishes after a while. Is it the capsules that come originally with them or something on the coin / minting process? I wouldn't even consider it an impairment, since it's so common with CIs. And, on a side note: Amazing collectible photography again. @Eclipse: Could you mabe create a video / slideshow with some of your photos? - Could be a cool way to show off crypto collectibles and maybe increase awareness / interest.

Its funny you post this today. I actually sent them an email earlier saying how much i liked their coins but how i thought their load value was a slap in the face. They responded and said they appreciated the feedback and would take it under advisement. Eveyone should write them and request higher load values or even buyer funded.
Thanks for the engagement. Agreed, with more community effort we may have a chance to make them think about their target audience a little more. I guess normal coin-collectors don't care at all about if and how many sats are on that silver coin. But we do!

Still need to create a betnomi account. Are there any promos currently running? Or any sign-up / promo codes out there for a new betnomi account.
And has it been decided yet, how many Icarus tournaments will run?

Man, this one looks very cool again. And I like 2 oz, but it's still quite overpriced especially since the loading is just a pure gimmick and nothing substancial. @MJ Did you grade any of their other coins (Doge or BTC liberty coins)? I wonder if they got high grades.

https://arstechnica.com/tech-policy/2023/02/secret-crawlspace-cryptomine-discovered-in-routine-inspection-of-ma-high-school/that the mining operation had stolen nearly $18,000 in electricity from the district. CPD said that Nahas is presumed innocent until convicted in a court of law, but they found probable cause to charge Nahas with vandalizing the school and “fraudulent use of electricity.” Makes you wonder how much of this is out there. Not the miner or 2 running in an office. But a more than a dozen or so that are shown in the picture. Plenty of older buildings out there with power and ducting going who knows were as things were moved and reconstituted and changed over years and years of needing to have different things configured in different spaces. -Dave Since it's cheap to get out-of-date mining hardware I would guess there are thousands, maybe tens of thousands illegal mining activities running at this moment. Most of them probably teens leeching electricity from their parents and overheating their poor GPUs for some mili-ETH. But just recently I heard about an IT guy working at a university nearby, who had some ASICs running alongside some real servers. And there are probably so many more similar activities that are going unnoticed. Nice for decentralization, not so great if individuals are directly affected - but my guess is it's usually large companies or public place (-> tax payers) that are getting drained. Otherwise it would quickly ring some alarm bells as soon as the latest energy bill is presented.

Tell me of your experience in buying goods or services IRL for Bitcoin, please. Like I did purchased ProtonVPN service with BTC for example. I'm interested in total revenue one may get using Bitcoin as a legal tender or money per se.
Even though I like to hodl, sometimes it's just very convenient to pay in BTC. You should check the collectibles board, most auctions and deals are paid in BTC. Personally I have used BTC to use a food-delivery service, pay some smaller online purchases (mostly via Bitpay) and even once paid at a local coffee shop that accepted some crypto. All are easy and convenient experiences.
