741  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin vs Gold? Which one you would choose to invest for long term? Why ? on: October 02, 2019, 02:41:48 PM
We all have different  prospective regarding the investment , be it long term or short term.

Bitcoin has been the most amazing invention and has given massive return of investment for those who joined from 2013. From low point in 2013 to 20k in 2017, it has gone from one end to another end. Right now today its trading at $10461 per bitcoin. The prediction is with just 21 million maximum supply it will reach 1 million bucks per coin one day.

Gold has been one of the most popular investment for centuries. Every country or government be it in the past or present always prefer gold reserve over their own currency even to prepare themselves for financial meltdown. Right now GOLD is being traded at $1425/oz.

So my question is which one you would chose for your investment ? Which one you would chose to outperform the other ? GOLD or BITCOIN? Please tell us with a reason why ?

Thanks everyone for taking part in this discussion.
I would put my bet on Bitcoin, simply because bitcoin is just starting it only start in 2009 yet it has now become a trend, it has a high value and high volatility rate compared to gold. Bitcoin was likely made for investment, to become an asset like gold but more contemporary. Gold takes a lot of space while Bitcoin could only be stored in a secured drive which saves a lot of space. Gold is not attainable for small investors, unlike bitcoin. But despite their differences, they have their own strengths that can not found in other one.
742  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How to invest my $1.5K? on: October 02, 2019, 02:18:36 PM
i have got around $1500 to invest in coins which coins do you guys suggest to invest in for quick money ? a year ago I have invested in STRAT and Sia and I lost big amounts and regret investing in those coins.

I'm thinking of investing $1k into BTC as its low risk but I would like to risk the the other $500 with a coin that I can make quick money with it
By looking at the market we have now I there's no quick to earn a profit. The best to do with your money is to invest in a coin that will surely give you a high return like Bitcoin, Ethereum and BNB. However, these coins will sure take a lot of time before recieve your profit. If you want a quick return I think you should go for gambling, however, there's a low possibility for you to get a profit in that way. Hence, you must choose between the two a quick profit but almost have no chance of winning or go for investment on potential coin that will surely give a return but will take time.
743  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Want to learn trading on: October 02, 2019, 11:19:24 AM
Hello guys! Well, I have known about crypto for a while, but never really gone into trading.
Recently I got an interest in crypto trading but didn't know anything about it. So, If anyone here can guide me from where to start and learn about trading?
Do tell me if there is any course available online, free or paid? Maybe in Udemy?
Would be a real help. Thanks!
There's a lot of ways to learn to trade such as watching some tutorial on Youtube and learn the fundamentals however, knowledge itself is not enough. You must gain experience upon making a trade and by doing that you will discover what you were supposed to learn such as losing a trade. By losing you will realize your mistake and you'll tend to make the same mistake again. Managing the emotions is matters as well because if you let your emotions manifest upon your trade then it would be quite a trouble. Don't take any trading advice from others but rather you should decide for yourself.
744  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Regret In Changing A Bet Have You Experienced on: October 02, 2019, 10:50:44 AM
This really happens to my friend in a horse racing, he is making a good run of winning he was in a winner take all bet and he needs to only win one, before he buys a ticket a winner take all-ticket, he has doubt on his bet on the 7th race because he is not the main favorite, he opted  for the favorite of race 7

He wins bet on all the 6 races  and he just needs one win and he is confident that the horse who he picks for a replacement on the horse he first bet to win the race, in the end, he loses the big jackpot in the 7th race because the horse that comes out the winner happens to be the horse he replaced with the favorite, he loses $3000 jackpot because of that.

He had a hard time moving on with that experience.
That is only normal I guess, in my case, it happens a lot in a dice game. I remember my gameplay that all of the bets are winning but for some reason, I change my bet into a higher amount and then suddenly all of my winnings together with my capital are lost in instant. I learned that I should be contented with what I have at that time. I think it is normal for us to lose because this is where we learn this is where we acquire experience, it'll only be bad if we made the same mistake. Also, I learned that if my winnings are enough I should take a rest for a minute and take half of it so that even if I lose I still got some of it.
745  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Merit "trading" - buying and selling Bitcointalk merit on: October 02, 2019, 10:01:02 AM
can you discuss to me what is merit all about? thankyou Smiley

Read- https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2818350.0

There have already been some bans considering the merit trading, but just ask yourself is it actually worth it? If someone was to buy ~50 merit points, he might get 1-2 lower ranks but he'd still need to buy that same merit 3-4 times to get to some higher rank. For example you'd need to buy 5 times 50 merit, to get to Senior member, 5 times from different users or 1 time from one person (or multiple) every month and if that doesn't get suspicious, I don't know what will.

if you're buying merit, you'll sure to get banned sooner or later, it's just a matter of time.
Indeed. Actually, you don't need to trade a Merit not just because it's illegal but also just try to give some effort on your post or topic and make sure that it has a sense. Don't just post anything you want, if you are going post tips or news make sure that it has references as for the credibility of your data. Trading of Merit is not allowed in the forum if you got caught then I am pretty sure that the account of yours will gain a red trust. So basically, a quality post is the only way to earn Merit.
746  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin up to $20,000 before 2020? on: October 02, 2019, 09:18:59 AM
I don't think it will happen before 2020, but I am sure it will happen at the end of 2020, after Halving Bitcoin happened. We have experienced 3 years before where a year after Halving Bitcoin happened, the price of Bitcoin will be to the moon. And I believe that can be repeated again at the end of 2020.
I hope so, but the fact that even if we did such profound analysis still there's a high possibility that it won't happen basically because the crypto market is unforeseeable. All I can sure about is that bitcoin will hit again the $20,000 but the date is vague. I had read a lot of speculation together with some analysis but unfortunately, most of them did not come off. It is not bad to have your speculation but don't just trust it since it is really vague to follow with.
747  Economy / Economics / Re: Please, we should not totally eliminate fiat currency on: October 02, 2019, 02:59:26 AM
From what I have seen so far in this forum and other crypto platforms, most of us want fiat eliminated. But let us not forget that there are still situations whereby we can't use crypto except fiat like in rural places without computers or even internet facilities.
One thing I only knows l, fiat currency will never replaceabe maybe crypto could become an alternative mode of payment but he will never replace fiat. Why? simply because there are some places especially in third world country that don't have internet connection and we know that the only way we can use crypto is through online. Just like what I have mention cryptocurrency could be better use for online transaction while fiat for physical transaction.
748  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How 18-year old boy became Millionare from Bitcoin on: October 01, 2019, 03:17:29 PM
Honestly, an 18-year old boy can easily became a millionaire from bitcoin as long he has a dedication to learn more or go deeper about cryptocurrency and blockchain technology, that is why a lot of people are now getting rich because of bitcoin and cryptocurrencies.
Exactly, anyone can be a millionaire from just being here in crypto industry but you must be possess of great knowledge and experience otherwise you'll just become a normal folk. Passion, is one of the key as well, without this thing you will not last long in this industry. You must be wise as well, willing to learn and more. I have seen a lot of people who become successful through the usage of crypto so just believe in ourselves, if they can do it and so we can.
749  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What should I do with a 1000$ and what would you do? on: October 01, 2019, 02:48:47 PM
If I would have $1000, I would like to spend all of it investing with high potential coin like Bitcoin, Eth, XRP and more. These coins had a good run in crypto industry and they will never put your investment in vain but make sure that you will buy and sell on the right time. You could also put some investment in other altcoins it is risky since you have no idea if it will leave a profit or worse.
750  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Bitcoin versus other offline currencies on: October 01, 2019, 02:21:52 PM
As a NEWBIE, how would you explain bitcoin as against other offline currencies?
Which one has more market value and why do you think so ?
Hi and welcome to bitcointalk forum!

By other "offline currencies", I guess that you mean to gold and cash, let me explain why bitcoin is better then them.

Cash- Huge inflation, which means that if you hold cash as a store of value, at the long run you will lose value!, can be only transferred by a face to face meeting(someone need to physically deliver the cash to you).

Gold-Hard to store( takes a lot of space and may require to have a security behind), and also hard to transfer

Bitcoin- Fixed inflation, which means that you won't lose value at the long run, and also very easy to transfer, you don't need to actually meet someone in order to transfer bitcoins and you can do it from home.
Also it's value goes up at the long run.

Actually we cannot compare these two for the reason of they have their own strenght and weaknesses. For example, in offline currency you can able to use this one whenever place you are I mean there are few countries who does not accept Bitcoin in their place because of having a bad image. Unlike offline currency is available across the world. For bitcoin, it is better for online transaction like trading and investment due to its unique characteristics. Besides it is decentralize so government couldn't manipulate the Bitcoin.
751  Economy / Economics / Re: Big risk ,big results. on: October 01, 2019, 12:51:20 PM
A guy bought a very big house, which triggered an argument on a telegram group.
some people were arguing on a telegram group that they guy couldn't have bought the house with only trading profit....some insinuated that he must be into other businesses.
I laughed at their ignorance.
Why? Because I know that even in this present market condition that some skilled traders are making a killing.
I'm not talking about traders who trade with small capital here.
The conclusion is that when you trade with massive capital ,you earn massively.
I belive in the idea of, the higher risk you take the more profit you'll have. Hence, it is not questionable for me if he able to bought a house. Just imagine if you invest with small capital then how would you gain a big profit? I'm basically that there's no magic in trading, if you want big profit then invest high amount. However, just don't take any risk because there's is no guarantee that you will always win, another tip is that don't risk the money that you cannot afford to lose.
752  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Tools to improve your trading on: October 01, 2019, 12:12:20 PM
All those tools will be useless if you haven't familiar with fundamentals or the basic. To improve, you must possess a discipline to avoid being engulf by our emotions. Knowledge is also necessary for this industry, you must have study every minute. But the most important among them all is the "experience" because this is where you learn. Having a trading plan is a good tool as well.
753  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Getting too emotional while trading crypto on: October 01, 2019, 10:38:03 AM
I always feel that it's very intense to trade. I have been trading crypto for two years now, but find it's still difficult to get used to all the constant price fluctuation.

I decided to write an article about this topic, including solutions to make sure your trading becomes more rational: https://steemit.com/cryptocurrency/@wickcrypto/an-emotional-guide-to-crypto-trading-why-paper-trading-is-useless

For example, using some simple tricks you can remove a lot of the emotion out of your trading. I trick that helped a lot was as simple as changing your color scheme in Tradingview. I don't think I am allowed yet to post pics on this forum, but you can check it out the big difference here:

What do you think? Do you have some more tricks you use against these emotions?

Also, it was the first post I made on Steemit so far, I'm very open to hear any feedback about it!
I think the only tricks that would be effective is the descipline because even if you change the color scheme of your trading platfrom if you don't have any discipline then you will lose to your emotion eventually.
Actually, losing to your emotions is inevitable but the things make it worse is that if you let yourself engulf by emotions. We should practice how to manage our emotion inorder to minimize our loss.
754  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Is it worth for me in my situation to start btc trading? on: October 01, 2019, 06:39:13 AM
I chose to expirement and try luck with trading and freelancing, if there is no success with any for september, I will choose full-time job.
This span you have chosen is very small to see whether he can succeed or not because Trading needs time and attention you need to read learn and analyse and keep reading markets.

Can I learn and do trading for month to make at least some money(around $100-$250), while doing freelance programming? I can arrange 3-5 hours for each activity per day
This is very hard to predict as it completely depends on your skills and efforts.
So he was supposed to make profits in short term alone, not sure he did that or not but the time frame he said was ended.

Myself it is surely possible to make profits in short term but learning complete crypto trading may not be possible.

We have to be careful with fundamental of trading to make money and we can keep learning the strategies and try it will less capital from the total capital we got for trading.
Excatly, it is possible to earn trading in a short time however the problem is that you must learn first the fundamentals and get some experience. If you just enter the industry without knowing nothing then I'd say that all of your capital will be in vain. By looking for the given time frame I think it you are still in the learning stage so it would be impossible for you to earn that quickly.
755  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling Money is Dirty Money on: September 30, 2019, 02:04:23 PM
Gambling is a worldwide industry, lots of people enjoy gambling. I disagree, I don’t see it as any kind of taboo or terrible thing. People lose money gambling, sure. People win lots too, I don’t feel sorry for people who become addicted to gambling, these kind of people are weak. You are the master of your own life.
Yeah you're right but admit the fact that there are some countries who prohibit this kind of activity, for them it was a crime and if it is a crim then it is dirty money. However, in my case the money came from gambling is not dirty but rather its opposite. Some countries see gambling as beneficial in the way of it could affect upon their economic status. In conclusion, the perspective on gambling varies depends on the place where we belong so we cannot fully tell if the money came from it is dirty or not.
756  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How many gambling sites are you playing and do you use the same strategy on: September 30, 2019, 01:19:37 PM
I actually played in 3 sites because there are some features in some website which cannot be seen in others. And regarding with strategy I usually play dice game and as far as I know it doesn't need by any such strategies. I just use gambling for fun and I don't have any intention to earn from this so I think I won't need to use any strategies but rather to test out my luck.
757  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: I quit my job to do full-time crypto-trading. Made 12 BTC profit last month on: September 30, 2019, 11:35:48 AM
What a quite luck you got there buddy, but I guess you don't have to quit your job because luck is not always in your favors. All things have limitations.
I've only seen few traders who make it sustain their income after qutting their job. 12 btc is quite huge, enough to sustain your necessity for months or even years but not your entire life. Maybe it is better you make crypto-trading as a side job or what so if you hit another big shot then that would be good.
758  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Buy now or wait for Bitcoin? on: September 30, 2019, 10:52:32 AM
Hi all,

I want to invest some money in Bitcoin (long term investment)
It's better wait the next fall down (like the situation on December/January), or buy now?
Otherwise fixing a target for example 7000 or 8000 $ and buy in that moment?

Thank you in advance for your suggestion

We never knew when or if bitcoin will decrease its price compared to its current price right now hence, we should take the advantages and buy as much as you can otherwise it will be your loss. Actually you can purchase whenever time you want since you were going for long term investment, bitcoin never stop wavering so if the time comes that you think your investment would gain an enough profit then that is the time for you to sell.
759  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Too many exchanges? on: September 30, 2019, 08:05:53 AM
We are seeing more and more exchanges nowadays. Is it beneficial to the community if we have more of these? What do you think are the benefits and/or the negative impact on having too many exchanges?

I think competition is always beneficial to customers. We have more options, we can choose the best exchanges with better fee and loyalty programs, and projects also have many options to get listed. But we need to consider about their user interface, liquidity and security.
Indeed, it is good to hear that there are many exchange are appearing but it is alarming as well. Do not just choose a random exchanges if really care to your assets. It is beneficial in the way of we could choose an exchanges that would satisfy our desire, or have a better service compared to the other one. But it could be a troublesome to new bud traders because it would confusing which among them are credible one. Do not just considet the interface and security but the integrity as well.
