7401  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: couple questions about PoS for programmers on: March 19, 2021, 07:47:17 PM
as i know the Proof of stake is about staking an amount of specific coin in the network so it can make decisions what's gonna be in the next block
can I develop a code that I could use this amount of coins while it's under Mortgage?
could I develop a  blockchain code that you can stake whatever coin you have?

I'm not 100% sure that this is what you need, but maybe you can check for LPOS (Leased PoS), WAVES has that. Maybe you can mix PoS with LPoS and other whatever-PoS got invented meanwhile.
But I've never looked into the code of any PoS, so I don't know...

admitting

See? I made others too talk!

If you take the time to read all the 30 pages of this thread, you'll see you are not the only one. So many snooped around the foxhole, you can't even imagine Smiley

I'm not surprised. I am unpleasantly surprised that some are not nice and try to stay silent and record everything, like you guys would not notice that.

second foxhole re-opened to properly celebrate the second anniversary of my vixenation (yes, we're ostensbily celebrating the anniversary of the Merit Cycling Club, but we all know what we're really here for)

Free booze  Grin And afterwards, *no comment*.
(At least I don't pretend I'm working!)
Happy anniversary, btw!

Lesson : Always double check the fee, converted to Fiat value... before you press proceed.  Roll Eyes

Yep, it's a good lesson. Only that not all the wallets allow that.
I see people having fund in BTC, mBTC, whatever and they don't pay attention to all the details.
A proper wallet helps. Proper settings (to see also the values in fiat) help avoiding mistakes. And patience and double check is always necessary when one works with money.

Unfortunately knowledge is also necessary to have all these correctly together, and many don't have enough of that.
7405  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: ELECTRUM SCAMMERS ? on: March 19, 2021, 09:55:40 AM
The server returned an error when broadcasting the transaction.
Consider trying to connect to a different server, or updating Electrum.

I've had in the past, once, a similar error.
I've "restored" from the (same) seed into a (new) wallet and there I made the transaction and went through.

- we will notify our users on the forum, discord, twitter that they need to change the trust ip

People stop following crypto news. People stop using social media. People change mail. Just imagine the owner going through a very long illness... This can so easily end up with those funds lost ...

no seed phrase on the exchange  Sad

Indeed, but the main rule use to be to not keep too big funds on exchanges, or any custodian service. Many things can go wrong. Not your keys not your coins.
The seed idea is for those who keep their funds on proper wallets.

Send me PM your BNB address (bsc network) and I'll send you the policy for the test.

Thank you for the kindness, but I'll pass. Keep it for somebody who will find it more useful, somebody who keeps his funds at exchange. Maybe somebody who trades a lot. (I did say that this is a niche service, didn't I?)

I don't need myself such a service (for multiple reasons), I've only tried to do some (hopefully constructive) criticism, my goal being a well thought and good working service.
For now the change of (your) IPs can be a problem. And although the proposed solution is .. weak, the actual problem is not that big (rather small chance for happening if multiple ISPs are used).
And yeah, there's also a trust issue: people have to trust you that you (or your employees) won't log their info and steal their funds later on.
7407  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: F1 Formula Sports Racing - Sportsbet.io promotions & discussion thread on: March 19, 2021, 07:30:16 AM
^  And word going around that Ferrari is a toxic environment to work in.  They pressured poor Vettel into baldness then he called it quits and took a pay cut to be with Aston Martin.  I think his new team will be good for him tho.  Let’s see those hair follicles revive!  Cheesy

Well, he went there willingly - I don't understand why - and he weren't doing it for free either. So he did deserve a kick in the butt, in a way or another.
But I reckon he does deserve a normal team and he does deserve a more reliable car too. What Ferrari did with him last year was... insensibility. Very ugly.
7408  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Buying 1 BTC is ‘like owning 60 cars? on: March 18, 2021, 07:57:37 PM
60 cars... interesting.
Well, right now you can buy 60 wrecks for that money, that's for sure. I wouldn't call them cars though.
But maybe he foresees the future, when maybe 1 BTC will be highly enough priced for 60 cars  Grin

Although he may have a point about speed (although it could be by luck), he seem to have gotten wrong all the rest. So.. yeah..
Btw, who's this troll? Another guy who wants his name on the news?
7409  Economy / Services / Re: LoyceV's Avatar for Rent [first 2 🦊🦊YEARS🦊🦊 (104 weeks) rented out] on: March 18, 2021, 12:48:59 PM
As I am not part of the gang, I am not allowed to be part of this. So I stand still, on a corner, holding my silver platter with a selection of kinky tools, alcohol, and snorting substances, for you to serve.

Of course I am blindfolded, so I cannot know who is impregnating who.

I am relieved to see I'm not the only one admitting to be here (uninvited).
I mean that I expect to have a much bigger (blindfolded) crowd around here, but I see that all stay silent.
(Rising a full glass towards the direction of @fillippone's voice) : cheers!
7410  Other / Serious discussion / Re: Why do people forget their passwords? on: March 18, 2021, 12:44:49 PM

I'll make a list, not only for passwords, instead for losing access to various means of storing the coins.

I am usually afraid of making a list with my Various login details because i am scared that someone will somehow run into the list and have a hard access to all my accounts and informations.

Getting a sentence out of context and misunderstanding it is the way to go  Grin
If you read further you'll see that it's a list of problems, not a list of credentials.
7411  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Legacy to Segwit Wallets on: March 18, 2021, 09:06:20 AM
Can I have both?
On the same wallet? Yes.

I would add that if OP goes on this path the wallet will not create for him change addresses, hence he will have (even more) reduced privacy.
I think that this should be explained. And I think that the best for OP would be to have SegWit wallet for the daily use for reduced fees.
7412  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: F1 Formula Sports Racing - Sportsbet.io promotions & discussion thread on: March 18, 2021, 07:46:41 AM
-/* Ferrari seem off the picture AGAIN.../-
It is hard for a Ferrari fanatic to read these words, as they resound as an answer and a question at the same time in the reality of the context that is lived.

If you go by the hearth, it's very difficult.
If you go by the brain, you know that they have reliability issues way too often and they get it right less often then getting it wrong. Sadly.

They seem to need at least one truly exceptional pilot in order to help them set the car right. Or luck.
However, I think that we need at least 2 races to see how bad (or good?) the car is this year.

Although I am (by far!) not a Ferrari F1 fan, I can understand how difficult it is for their fans.
7413  Local / Română (Romanian) / Re: Cardano -90% din valuarea totala vandute in numai cinici minute on: March 18, 2021, 07:33:53 AM

Clar, "buy and hold" e mult mai usoara.

7414  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: How to Secure Your Assets on Exchange in the Event of Your Death? on: March 18, 2021, 07:18:34 AM
Before creating a policy, the owner of the Binance account in the whitelist enters the static IP address of the KeycoSafe server. We will make sure that this address never changes.

If the policy is stolen, the attacker will need to somehow change the recipient's address in the policy.

This sounds better and somewhat reassuring. I'm somewhat still not 100% convinced (but I can't say clearly why), but you seem to be going on the right direction.
I guess it's still too technical for many and people will prefer to pass on a seed - in a way or another - but your service can easily have its niche.
7415  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Legacy to Segwit Wallets on: March 17, 2021, 08:57:54 PM
You can create a new wallet with Electrum.
When you want to use the legacy one, load up that one, when you want to use the SegWit one, load that up.
I advise you backup your seed safely to paper, just in case, until you do the creation and verify they both load up.
Write the new wallet seed also on a paper for safe keeping.

This image was decent enough to show the kids.

You guys reminded me of the days when one of the very few nice cartoons I could watch was Vuk.
7417  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: offline seed creation on: March 17, 2021, 05:42:37 PM
What is the most important reason people do generate their seeds offline (to my knowledge, this is possible with the Electrum-wallet)?

Unless they set up a cold storage, as the others said, I see one more use case for offline generated seed: paper wallet. Of course, a Live OS is advised so you make sure the seed will not be saved onto a computer that will later go online. The seed and a few addresses from the wallet can be easily seen as a paper wallet and can be used for deposits aimed for long term hold.
7418  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Visa: We make it possible to buy bitcoins using Visa on: March 17, 2021, 02:17:49 PM
VISA has its own "internal" (?) FOREX rates, usually better than what the banks offer.
If they would do something similar for Bitcoin, hence turning off the many (sometimes hidden) fees various "Bitcoin card" issuers or "Exchanges selling Bitcoin for card" have, it could be an interesting news.
But I think that we are not there yet.
We'll see...

I cannot find the wallet.dat file in the directory Sad any ideas?

You should start with looking for the paths presented here: https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Data_directory
7420  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: How to Secure Your Assets on Exchange in the Event of Your Death? on: March 17, 2021, 10:10:24 AM
1. As said, this is not the best place to advertise your project, hence you should move the topic.
2. What stops you from conveniently log/store the information you get before (API keys) or after (policy number) encrypting it? If you want to tell about IP blacklist, read 4.
3. What stops the trusted person use the policy number and withdraw - sooner or later - those funds like he would have the API keys himself? (excepting IP)
4. From what I see the only security measure would be that the Binance account API keys work only with a small list of IPs. I don't have experience with the API keys, but I don't expect "the next generation" will be able to enter from the exact whitelisted IP. Most households have dynamic IP, hence the Binance account will have to allow IP ranges or everything (if that's possible), hence allowing the funds get stolen (see [2] and [3]).

Am I missing / misunderstood something?
