7422  Economy / Goods / Re: 1OZ SILVER MAPLE LEAF / CHECK BEST PRICE IN OP on: March 17, 2013, 05:34:00 PM
Whereas,
We are so Happy to have more trust among the members of this community due to the following developments,
- 2 orders in the first 3 days of operation
- The new "donator"-tag with all the associated privileges
- I have successfully edited my signature to reflect my status,

WE WANT TO GIVE OUT SOME MAPLE LEAFS AT SPOT PRICE, , INCLUDING SHIPPING.

We see this as a move to try out the capabilities of our shipping department also, and to see how the new ordering system works. The offer is limited to 50 coins in total, and a maximum of 3 coins per customer. Note that there is a quota of 3 orders only, to every single European Union country, which means that you may not qualify to order even though there are coins left in the total quota. I will inform you beforehand of this development, by posting below, the countries that are excluded from the offer due to the cap in orders:

.No countries excluded.

You may take advantage of this offer by following the procedures set out in the Original Post (OP) of this thread, with the only exception of the price being the one set on this post. (If you order for normal price, I will honor your decision.) Please use the satoshi-message as specified.

Also when you order, I would appreciate your greetings here in this thread.

What's a cooler deal than buying silver at spot price with no VAT using Bitcoin? Seriously can't think of much.

Just had to do it and ordered 3. A great offer.
7423  Economy / Goods / Re: 1OZ SILVER MAPLE LEAF / CHECK BEST PRICE IN OP on: March 17, 2013, 11:50:06 AM
4. You PM me first your name and address and the total amount of coins, the total price, and your message in satoshi. How? The message is a number from 111 to 999, which you decide, and add to the sum in satoshi. Eg. You want to order 25 coins at the price of BTC0.724. You calculate your amount payable as follows: 25*0.724 + 0.500 + message*0.00000001. Assuming your message is 337, this evaluates: 18.1 + .5 + .00000337 = 18.60000337. This is of paramount importance, as this is the way how I will be able to connect you to the incoming funds.

This is not such a bad "hack" until we have a working pay-to-contract scheme that produces a way for the buyer to prove payment for a specific order while still allowing the merchants wallet to be offline.
7424  Economy / Goods / Re: 1OZ SILVER MAPLE LEAF / CHECK BEST PRICE IN OP on: March 17, 2013, 11:38:27 AM
For BTC.738, Maple is as cheap as it gets. Delivery in EU only BTC.500 for unlimited quantities, except over 500 pieces it is free  Grin

I will likely buy from you as soon as I like the market conditions and your price is still as competitive as it is now. I hope you'll have "VAT free quota" to germany left at that point.

How big is it? I am greatly afraid that Germany will be the first country to fill its quota. For obvious reasons  Cheesy

Btw. do you like the fixed s/h fee? I know it will be a little different based on country, but this way there is no guessing, the risk is on me, and I can serve also smaller orders as they don't yield a loss.

Since you've ordered a Casascius 1 BTC Coin from me (thanks) you obviously know I'm going the same route with the shipping being flat-rate.

Of course it's even more complicated in your case since you can't just stuff the coins into a letter. But even I had like 12 different shipping options (differing by destination, weight, insurance) in one of my earlier sales-threads so the approach you take makes a lot of sense, I like it... both as a buyer and as a seller.

I'm glad I don't have quite such a large problem with bitcoin price fluctiations since my supplier (Casascius) charges BTC, not USD, so fluctuation only affects the shipping cost, not the product. It looks like you have a workable solution for that problem now and I congratulate you on that.
7425  Economy / Goods / Re: [SALE]: Casascius 1 BTC Coin only BTC 1.234 incl. worldwide shipping on: March 17, 2013, 10:17:45 AM
Due to how awesome the last 2 you sent me were, I'll take another 2!

They're great for tipping people over the edge that have been 'umming and ahhing' whether to get into BTC or not Tongue

nice. It's good to have customers come back Wink.

order accepted, please pay BTC 2.468 to 1Gbher7ZMA2BZDijvQT9xdSNuPs1FHfBud to finalize order and PM shipping info including country (again).

interesting story bruno, and certainly relevant.
7427  Economy / Goods / Re: [SALE]: Casascius 1 BTC Coin only BTC 1.234 incl. worldwide shipping on: March 17, 2013, 09:22:21 AM
Since I get some questions frequently I thought I'd make a...

FAQ

Do you ship to country xzy?

Most likely yes. Here's the list of countries I ship to (taken from post.de site and google-translated from german to english):

Afghanistan, Egypt, Albania, Argentina, Armenia, Australia, Belarus, Belgium, Bolivia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Brazil, Bulgaria, Chile, China, People's Republic, Denmark, Ecuador, El Salvador, Estonia, Finland, France, Ghana, Greece, Britain, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Iran, Ireland, Iceland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Jordan, Canada, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Colombia, Croatia, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Maldives, Malta, Morocco, Mexico, Monaco, Nepal, New Zealand, Netherlands, Nigeria, Norway, Austria, Pakistan, Peru, Philippines, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russian Federation, Zambia, San Marino, Saudi Arabia, Sweden, Switzerland, Serbia, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, South Africa, Taiwan, Thailand, Czechia, Tunisia, Turkey, Ukraine, Hungary, Uruguay, Uzbekistan, United Arab Emirates, United States of America, Cyprus

How long does shipping take

Weirdly enough, it doesn't really depend much on the country of destination (Italy seems extremely slow). Canada and US are about 10 business days (variance is high, though). Up to now no letter has taken longer than 23 calendar days (except the two that got lost).

What happens when a shipment gets lost

Long answer: I'm insuring every letter (in fiat currency unfortunately). This means you will get either the coin(s) or your money back at some point in time. But please be patient, I have to be sure the letter is definitely lost. I can only be sure once the postal service admits it. They contractually have 3 months (!!) measured from the point in time I trigger the investigation to either admit having lost the letter or produce proof of delivery. So in the worst case, the customer will have to wait for about 4 months. I will be really sorry about that, but won't be able to do anything about it. So please, don't use any money for this that you might need within the next 4 months.

Short answer: You will get either your coin(s) or money back, but it can potentially take a long time (up to 4 months).

The coins are brand new (un-used, contain a private key with 1BTC)?

The coins are brand new. I've not touched them without gloves and put them into plastic bags right after taking them out of the roll they have been delivered in. The coins have been loaded by Mike Caldwell (Casascius) with 1 BTC each.

What material are the coins made from?

Brass, I think. For the specifics of the coins let me refer you to the supplier site: http://casascius.com

How can you sell so cheap?

I buy bulk (>=100 pieces) from Mike (no special deal, anyone can). Mike decided to offload shipping of small orders by increasing his price to BTC 1.50 for volume <10 coins. This is what I do: take care of these small orders. In addition I do this mainly for gaining experience and getting these beautiful coins into the hands of as many people as possible, so I don't require a big profit margin... just breaking even is ok for me.

Why shouldn't I order directly from Mike Caldwell?

If you buy 10 or more coins you definitely should. My offer only makes sense for small volume.

Why can I order a maximum of 3 coins only

I plan to offer higher volume shipping in the future. But I'll first have to restock. I like the idea of shipping 1 coin to 10 people more than shipping 10 coins to 1 person.

How many coins do you have available?

Currently (as of 2013/3/18) about 25. You can order a maximum of 3 coins. If you notice the price going up it might be an indication that I'm running out. If I'm out I'll put a big note into the OP.

7428  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Whitelist Requests (Want out of here?) on: March 17, 2013, 08:48:22 AM
Please let me out.

I've been reading the forum for months, finally registered the other day, and have been considering asking for a whitelist but decided why bother. Now I want to claim a cassius from Molecular, but I can't send him a message or post to ask for one.

For what it's worth, I've been starting to establish myself with reputation in bitcoin-otc so I'm not a noob trying to figure this out and I'm not exactly sitting on one bitcoin hoping to buy a house one day.

Gracias.

7430  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: instawallet has fallen new owner stealing on: March 17, 2013, 08:28:36 AM
im actually an itelectual bad ass I was about to send the 740 btc to a secure wallet I was just using instawallet as a quick holder for a few days as I built my new system and poof it was gone. but either way that is the amount I can afford to lose and not die over, but even if I only had 2 BTC stolen I would still try to get them back or alert other people..Im not stupid Its not like I put 20,000 bitcoins In an online wallet.

Calling troll on this one.

definitely.

EDIT: why use an online wallet to temporarily store sizable amounts of coins. Use a paper wallet or vanitygen or whatever for fucks sake.

EDIT2: shit, I fell for the troll
7431  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I used to have some respect for Chris Douane... on: March 17, 2013, 08:22:20 AM
wtf. It seems Chris has received some bad press (hinted at in the video, maybe in relation to his bitcoin ponzi vids, dont know). Now someone put some overpriced silver offer on ebay using his name (not _in_ his hame, though).

7432  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker on: March 17, 2013, 08:09:08 AM
Anybody on here use a certain number when buying or selling, using a bot I'm guessing? I've noticed several "1337", wether it be buying .1337 at a time, or selling a huge amount at X.1337BTC or even 1337.XX BTC, 133713371337 BTC. I would love to know if it was someone on this forum, but that would be against all the anonymity thing.

Sorry, I have a fascination for being a big time player to where my bids/asks were plastered all over the books.

Pretty sure it's someone who reads the forum. 0.1337 bot popped up (or changed from 0.11 bot) after it has been suggested on the forums: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=142126.0

Loaded just showed up again last night.  A good sign? Wink
Unless hes about to take a dump all over us.

No worries, I've been busy selling off the mass of coins I woke up to on Wednesday.

The speed at which the fork was repaired has mostly improved confidence among clients.

more fun coming next week? Wink

7434  Economy / Goods / Re: [FIRE SALE]: Casascius 1 BTC Coins grad. pricing starting at BTC 1.00 incl. ship on: March 17, 2013, 06:43:02 AM
lol, I can't even execute my own rules. I undercharged Bitcad (he accidentally got all 3 coins from group1). Well, it's on me.
7435  Economy / Goods / Re: [FIRE SALE]: Casascius 1 BTC Coins grad. pricing starting at BTC 1.00 incl. ship on: March 17, 2013, 06:20:58 AM
The following people payed BTC 1.25 per coin and are elligible for a reimbursement of the differnce to my new offer (BTC 1.234) of BTC 0.016 per coin:

  • peterepeat (3*0.016 = 0.048)
  • lolwut (0.016)
  • lebing (0.016)

please give me addresses so I can send the coins.

EDIT: lolwut hasn't payed yet, so I crossed him from the list. He can confirm his order by paying BTC 2.468 to address given above.
EDIT2: lebing said I should consider it a tip, so I crossed him, too.

7437  Economy / Goods / [OUT]: order Casascius 1 BTC Coins for BTC -.-- incl. worldwide shipping on: March 17, 2013, 06:17:19 AM
Hey guys,

due to popular demand, I'm selling 1 BTC Casascius coins using a simple, fair and straightforward pricing mode:

Offer

1 Casascius Series 2 physical Bitcoin: BTC 1.60.

Recurring customers (people who have already received coins from me) get a 5% off bonus.

Limits

You can order up to 2 coins at a time.

Shipping

please note: I'm shipping from germany. To the US it can take quite long at times. I've seen anything from 3 to 20 days (1 letter even got lost). Most likely ETA seems to be something around 6 business days.

How to order

Just post how many coins you want (either here for my reputation or via PM for your privacy). I will reply with an address and once you pay, the order is confirmed. Then PM me your shipping info exactly as I should print it on the letter, including country of destination. If you fail to pay within 48 hours I am not bound to honor my offer.

More Details / Rules:

  • I will pay for tracked shipping (you will receive the tracking number on request)
  • If postal service loses the letter we will wait until I receive my insurance money (this can take up to 5 months!!). So please don't buy if you can't afford to have the money in limbo for that long.
  • If tracking service of Postal service says: "received" or "could not be delivered, needs to be picked up" or similar, it's on you: the coin is considered to be delivered at that point
  • In case of trouble/dispute I am allowed to publicize the tracking number (this does not reveal the receiving address)
  • On request, I will publicize the tracking number here in the thread
  • Upon receiving the coin(s), it would be nice if you posted that fact here.

If you have suggestions for or problems with these rules, please let me know.

Status

Here's the public google sheet I use to track stuff: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0Au-mVSBh0PA4dEE5R1VMNVpNa2NWYk1pRW9xd3pXS1E&usp=sharing

Theres a FAQ in second post.
7438  Economy / Goods / Re: [FIRE SALE]: Casascius 1 BTC Coins grad. pricing starting at BTC 1.00 incl. ship on: March 17, 2013, 06:08:41 AM
I'll take 3 with EU shipping please, also I would be happy to make an offer for any that may remain unsold after everyone has finished buying if there are any left overs.

order accepted, please pay BTC 3.8 to 1AHD5wmEv9w5csP8zCkYsekMF9F9UCN54g to confirm and PM shipping info.

let's PM, I'll delay your shipping for now.

I should have read the thread through fully before hand, I'm more interested in bulk & as you mentioned that's better direct from Casascius, please cancel my request, most impressed by what you're doing here btw with this!

No problem at all. I was expecting you to do cancel Wink.

When ordering >5 coins I suggest to order either from casascius directly or from another reseller, preferrably in your country. Import VAT tax risk is an issue here and Mike solved this problem in a way only he can (reseller can't do this) by no loading the coins until they are in the hands of the recipient.
7439  Economy / Goods / Re: [FIRE SALE]: Casascius 1 BTC Coins grad. pricing starting at BTC 1.00 incl. ship on: March 17, 2013, 06:06:59 AM
If I didn't miss the boat I'll take 3

edit**: no offense molecular, but after reading your terms I'm out (I'm sure you know what I'm referring to lol)

But everyone else: molecular is a stand up guy, buy your coins from him.

No offense taken, thanks for your criticism.

I admit it was a really weird pricing/selling mode, encouraging to buy only one, preferring early customers and all that. I learned a lot. It's not a good way.
Maybe some spotted where I was going: I wanted to make things a little fun and cater to the little devil in you guys that tells us to "buy now, because it will be more expensive later". I also wanted to find what's an acceptable price for a coin including shipping and I think I found one.

Everyone got a good price so far I would say (noone payed more than BTC 1.25 per coin including shipping).

I suggest you don't buy from this thread any more coins since I will put up a new (and simple) offer shortly.

Whoever bought from this thread at a higher price than the new offer will be reimbursed the difference.

EDIT: here's the new offer: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=154083.0
