7441  Other / Meta / Re: Zero To Hero in under 4 months. (My Merit Journey). on: March 11, 2019, 02:09:06 AM
I have been visiting the forum as a guest for years, mostly being directed by Google when looking for answers regarding mining gears.

I was always too lazy to go through the sign-up process , neither i felt the need for being a member.
That's interesting to me that you wrote this, because that pretty accurately describes how I ended up being a member here, except it was a few years before.  Bitcoin had just crashed and the Mt. Gox disaster happened, and I thought bitcoin itself was just a fad that a lot of people were going to get burned on, and that it would go to zero.  Funny how it didn't turn out that way.  But every time I checked up on the price or looked for news, it was bitcointalk that I kept getting referred to by google.

Anyway, good job ranking up.  You do make good posts, which is why you've earned all those merits and were able to rank up.  Though Meta doesn't get as many "how I earn merits?" threads lately, I'm sure the question hasn't been answered to a lot of lower-ranked members' satisfaction.  They see it as almost impossible to earn enough merits to get past Jr. Member, and a rank like Legendary must seem unattainable without buying an account.  Those folks ought to take a look at your post history and take note, because you're one of a few examples of someone being able to earn those merits and achieving a relatively high rank.

Instead of saying "congrats" to this post why not send or give this post a sMerit? Me, I might do that but currently, I don't have any sMerit right now.
Well, I'd be inclined to agree with you except then we'd probably have everyone who made it to Jr. Member coming to Meta and starting threads.  It's the same reason why state parks don't want you to feed the squirrels.
7442  Other / Meta / Re: Community generated suggestions to improve the forum (+ eventual voting on them) on: March 10, 2019, 04:39:08 PM
- can use animated avatars;
I'm with you right up until here.  Animated avatars should be taken out to the woodshed and shot--regular avatars are bad enough, which is why I have them blocked, and their existence should end right there.  No frills, no more space, no animation....ever.

I kind of like the "deity" rank, but have we heard anything from Theymos lately about whether he's considering adding any more ranks?  I always got the feeling (or maybe he wrote it somewhere) that Legendary is as far as anyone is every going to go.  At one point I thought that that would lead to an overabundance of Legendaries, but since the merit system came into existence and it's much harder to rank up, I don't think that's going to be the case.

My view has kind of changed since January of last year, and perhaps Legendary is as high a rank as needs to exist.  Don't know.  Something higher than that would be nice, however--and I'm not even talking about for myself.  There are some members here who've been around for many years, and it'd be cool to make a distinction between them and some of the "newer" Legendaries.
7443  Other / Meta / Re: DT members - ethical to sell DT services? on: March 10, 2019, 03:03:43 PM
I don't really get the whole paid review business, maybe that's my problem.
I don't either, and it's the "paid" part of it that makes me think it's sketchy.  While I would feel obligated to give an honest review if I were paid to do so, 1) there still be bias in my mind after getting paid, and 2) there's no way for anyone else to know if I was being objective and not just writing a puff review because I was paid.  Those are the reasons why I wouldn't do a paid review, and in this particular case I also am not a gambler and wouldn't even know what I was doing.

Whether or not you have done the research, promoting a product in your signature is an endorsement of that product, and your reputation is influenced by the legitimacy of the campaign.
I respect your opinion, though I don't agree with it 100%.  I don't personally endorse any of the services I've used my signature space to advertise for, and in fact in all of the sig campaigns I've been in (with the exception of Yobit), I've never used those services myself.  I think of it like a TV station, where they rent advertising spots to businesses but don't necessarily endorse those businesses.  On the other hand, I would not join or continue to be in a sig campaign if the place I'm advertising for has been proven to be a scam.  In that case, it would be wrong to continue renting my sig space for that business because not only might people be sucked into that scam via my advertising, but it could potentially damage my reputation as well.

There has been some argument that people shouldn't be promoting gambling here, but I'm not sure if that's just because some DT members are doing it and it fits nicely into some folks' anti-DT campaign or whether people really think gambling is harmful.  I'm of the opinion that it's potentially harmful, as are many things and that advertising for online casinos isn't immoral.  Anyway.
7444  Economy / Reputation / Re: Royal family exposed, an alternate reality on: March 10, 2019, 02:31:36 PM
This is all the fault of the Dark Witch cryptohunter, who has been sowing the seeds of discord throughout the kingdom for many an age. Plus she turned me into a vixen. Embarrassed
Please don't sire any children with him, as you never know how much of the offspring will be tainted with whatever it is he's afflicted with.

OP, tread carefully--you are risking a massive amount of trolling by those who would take you seriously.  There's already the notion that there's a huge conspiracy among the DT members/merit sources/whatnot, and this will only fuel such delusions.

Also, that other thread got locked, but as far as suchmoon giving out 4 merits per shot: that sounds reasonable, and I wish I always had enough merits to do that every time I gave some out.  As it stands, I usually hand out only 2 merits per good post which is enough for the recipient to have one whole sMerit to give.  I try not to give out odd numbers of merits for that reason, not that it matters a whole lot.

Now that I have a new computer and am back behind an actual screen and can read more easily, I should be able to search for good posts again.  It's tough to do that on a crappy phone with a tiny-ass screen.  Yay for Dell.
7445  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: It's obvious bitcoin is going to have a trillion dollar MC on: March 10, 2019, 01:00:51 PM
Bitcoin will be 50k usd in a few years. Bitcoin will be 100k usd after that no doubt. Bitcoin will be 1mil usd when the supply is capped. All of these are facts.
Those aren't facts, they're predictions--and they're predictions people have been making for years now.  The truth is that nobody can (or should) tell you with a straight face what bitcoin's price is going to be tomorrow, much less at any point after that.  No one knows.  We could have nuclear war that wipes out the internet, or something could come along that makes bitcoin obsolete, or any number of scenarios whereby it won't rocket to the moon.  It's only ten years old and hasn't been widely adopted yet, so pretty much anything could happen.  Do I hope bitcoin goes to $50k?  Yes.  Do I hope it achieves a market cap in the trillions of dollars?  Absolutely.  But I can't bring myself to speak with your level of certainty, because I'm not sure it's going to do those things ever.

I absolutely agree with you bro but the whales keep manipulating the price and bringing FUDs to the community.
I hear this quite a bit, and I don't agree with it.  Those "whales" might have the ability to manipulate bitcoin's price, but you have to realize that there are probably millions of people who own bitcoin and who thereby contribute to the price being what it is, so I tend to think of it as the free market in action.  You'd also think that if people who owned tons of bitcoin could and did manipulate its price, it'd be a hell of a lot higher than it is now.
7446  Other / Meta / Re: Excuse me if this has been discussed before... why does the forum never change? on: March 10, 2019, 12:49:38 PM
It's a project that has been ongoing since long before I got here.
Yeah, me too.  It's been in the pipeline for so long that I see it as kind of a pipe dream, although apparently now it seems to be moving toward becoming a reality.

I'm a bit torn as to whether I'd like to see an upgrade (not that it makes a difference to whether it's going to happen), because the forum as it is is very simple and does basically everything it needs to do without being bloated or overly complicated.  It's very easy to use, very intuitive, and there aren't a lot of moving parts that lead me to be confused.  I guess I'm just worried that a new design won't improve anything and that it'll take time to get used to.  Basically there's some fear of change on my part.

One of the things I can't stand about eBay is that they've changed their design and mechanics so many times over the years that just when you're getting adjusted to new changes, they change something else and the site is way different.  I'm glad Theymos hasn't done that with bitcointalk, because I think it's very important to have a consistent user interface, something that's familiar to people.  I don't like websites that keep changing their design when the changes aren't really improvements, just changes.  Having said that, there are some things I'd like to see added to this site, but overall I'm very happy with how it is.  Even the trust and merit systems, which are sort of complex, aren't even that bad.  Hopefully the new software will be a step up and won't make it more difficult to use the site--but I trust that Theymos knows about good web design, and that's not too awful an assumption.
7447  Other / Meta / Re: MODS DELETING FACTS - which mod is it? Time for them to answer for this. on: March 10, 2019, 12:11:14 PM
5. TP is PROVEN to be HBW the link is at the top of this page also was busted not just because he sneakily using a sock puppet to greedily racist troll for btc dust... it was because he was trying to switch to a "higher paid sig" part way through the campaign therefore he is on topic and relevant.
You keep repeating this as if it has meaning, but I don't even understand what you're talking about--so if I don't get your point, likely nobody else will either, and that's assuming anyone cares.  I'm pretty sure they don't, as evidenced by the fact that after each repetition your posts are met with resounding silence.  It's the switching sig campaign part I'm referring to.  No idea what you're referencing.

Also, nobody cares that HBW is my alt account.  You're grasping at straws in an effort to discredit me and thereby get me booted off DT or as a merit source or whatever.  If you had your way, scammers would have free reign on this forum and nobody would get warned about shady activity.  People generally see this, and that's why you rarely hear anyone supporting you.  Do you not see that?

Edit:  Now you're going back on ignore.  Finally got my new computer, so I can actually type out answers instead of pecking on my phone's tiny keyboard and I thought I'd respond to at least one of your rambling lunatic screeds, but that's it.
7448  Other / Meta / Re: Self made sr. member not being a pro in the cyrpto field ... on: March 10, 2019, 03:31:09 AM
So you have jumped from nothing to senior member after merit system? That's superhuman ability sir.

I have collected 9 merit in 1 year Tongue
I took a look at the first page of your post history, and most of them are just 1-liners in Meta that don't really add much.  You don't seem to be a bad writer, so perhaps if you put more thought into what you write about, i.e., expand upon your ideas, you might earn more merits.

OP, congrats on ranking up this far.  It's not easy to do so, and it's not supposed to be, but at least by tooting your own horn a bit you call attention to the fact that it can be done.  And there certainly are others who've earned a lot of merits very quickly (Coolcryptovator, cryptobraineurboss, and others) without English being their first language (and while posting in the English section, too).  You and the members I mentioned put some time into what they write, and that tends to not go unnoticed.

Earning merits isn't rocket science, and I've said that plenty of times.  If anyone is still befuddled as to how to earn them, just take a look at the members who've earned the most, either recent or all-time.  Their posts should be a guide for how to do it.
7449  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Marlboroza has stolen in a commercial center on: March 09, 2019, 11:33:40 PM
Is this a revenge feedback for something that I missed?  Obviously you've provided no evidence whatsoever for your claim, which seems ridiculous on its face anyway.  Looks like you've been recently negged to hell, so I'm guessing that's it.  You're not helping yourself with this accusation, dude.

Edit:  Oh yeah, I missed marlboroza's original thread with the scam accusation.  Yeah, I agree:  this guy is probably a teenager trying to scam money for beer or porn or whatever.  And now he's trolling.
7450  Economy / Reputation / Re: An obvious case of trust abuse (DT members welcome) on: March 09, 2019, 10:33:24 PM
Yes, the handful of documented trades in your ratings over the past 2 years are impressive.
Well, nothing is every going to meet your standards because you're comparing everyone to yourself.  In your mind, you're the ideal DT member who's done tons of trades, blah blah blah....end of story.  Meanwhile, what I said still stands.  Deisik isn't being inhibited from doing trades; he doesn't do many, anyway; and the negative he got is essentially meaningless for trading purposes.  You go right ahead and tell yourself you won this argument, but this is why it's pointless arguing with you.  You just changed the goalposts and cherry picked one trade I did to minimize everything.  Nice job.
7451  Economy / Reputation / Re: An obvious case of trust abuse (DT members welcome) on: March 09, 2019, 01:18:10 AM
Looks like deisik doesn't do much trading here either, based on his feedback, so TECSHARE is making an agenda-driven mountain out of deisik's molehill.  I would suggest that deisik would have little trouble trying to do business with a neg that's untrusted and is not because he's a scammer--just like I've never had trouble.  And TECSHARE, I don't know how many trades I've done here, but I bet you didn't either when you wrote that nonsense.  Ask gameristo how many trades we've done, count up my feedback from deals and then get back to me, eh?
7452  Economy / Reputation / Re: An obvious case of trust abuse (DT members welcome) on: March 08, 2019, 11:59:50 PM
You don't get it. Such things are destroying the trust system. Not that I'm quite happy with it at all (I made my point pretty clear about it long ago) but it was basically none of my business. Now it is

Funny how everyone stands on the sideline until it is their own ass isn't it?
Stand on the sidelines of what?  Deisik got a neg from someone not on DT, which I think he shouldn't have received but nevertheless should just accept and move on.  If I got upset every time I got negged, I'd be in a straitjacket, locked in a room with padded walls.

Deisik may post way more than the average member, but his grasp of English is above average and his posts aren't crappy like you typically see with sig spammers.  It is certainly possible to make as many posts as he has and still not be a shitposter--you just have to be able to write (which deisik can) and spend enough time (which deisik apparently does).  I don't think it's reasonable to call him a spammer based on post count alone.
7453  Other / Meta / Re: New? on: March 08, 2019, 11:45:43 PM
If i would like i could find at at least 50% if not more of todays legendary accounts this kind of plagiarism
So why don't you?
And I would add that without finding those examples, it's a pretty empty claim.  He's just saying they exist to give him a reason for yet another tirade that defends doing the wrong thing instead of the right thing, and against a forum that obviously pisses him off and yet one that he keeps coming back to.  He's an emotional masochist.  If everyone here is wrong and the forum is run like shit, you'd think he'd just move on.  Nobody is supporting his positions on issues anyway.  You would think he'd have learned that, but no.  Thule is like the person who holds your attention hostage with incessant rambling while you're trying to think of an excuse to get away.

Fortunately we have the ignore button, which I have yet to use on him--but it's getting close.
7454  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin spike on: March 08, 2019, 09:51:55 PM
The spike on December 2017 was slightly a Bitcoin bubble and I thought that the price would subside for a good reason.
"Slight" is putting it way too mildly.  The runup to $20k had the air of euphoria attached to it just like every other bubble I've ever observed--not that my experience is vast, but I do recall the internet stock bubble of the late 90s and the real estate one that happened in 2006 or so.  People were going crazy over those investments just like bitcoin in 2017.  The btc bubble just happened to be shorter lived than the others.

I've no idea when the next pop for bitcoin is going to be, but I'm fairly certain it'll happen sooner or later.  It's still a pretty new technology and I don't see the enthusiasm for it dying down.  It's just in a rut right now, but at least it's stable where it is, and it's not like it's cheap.  I remember when 1BTC was $300, and a lot of folks here were into it when it was going for pennies.
7455  Other / Serious discussion / Re: Facebook's privacy invasion is INSANE on: March 08, 2019, 01:53:35 AM

I heard them say " you can never delete something from the internet" , didn't believe them, but now i do . I am almost certain that they will always track you, all it takes is 1 photo/comment or any piece of information you provide at any given time, and then they probably have these sophisticated software that will connect the dots and give them another piece of information about you.
I don't have the technical knowledge to evaluate the truthfulness of that statement, but I'm leaning toward agreeing with you.  On the other hand, I can't find any pics whatsoever when I google any variation of my name, so that's a bit of a relief.  Just for privacy reasons I keep a very low internet profile and don't have any social media accounts.

But I had that damn FB account years ago, and I trust them as far as I can throw them.  It's a scary world we're living in.  The weird part is that it's become very much like George Orwell's 1984, but it's not the government spying on us--we're volunteering personal info via SM and recording everything on our phones.  Bet Orwell never thought that would happen.
7456  Economy / Reputation / Re: nutildah got red trust recent hours. Is the red trust fairly for him? on: March 08, 2019, 01:11:56 AM
Is it? I was on DT1 earlier today until one of your pet muppets suddenly decided my judgement could not be trusted by sheer coincidence I am sure.
It's not a coincidence.  I don't trust your judgement, don't think you should be on DT, and voted accordingly.  What is it about that that's baffling to you?  As I said, excluding you was overdue, and the fact that I did so just now is only relevant in your mind because....who knows.
7457  Other / Serious discussion / Re: Facebook's privacy invasion is INSANE on: March 08, 2019, 01:07:15 AM
That's effing scary--and I remember how crazy Shazam was when it came out.  I was absolutely blown away by the technology, but this is frightening.

I deleted my FB account back in 2010 and never looked back, but doubtless that doesn't mean anything as far as them still having all the pics I uploaded.  Ugh.
7458  Economy / Reputation / Re: nutildah got red trust recent hours. Is the red trust fairly for him? on: March 08, 2019, 12:01:18 AM
Aren't we glad to have TECSHARE in DT, what with the new "standards*" he's advocating?
Well, everyone is free to cast a vote on that with their exclusions, which I just did.  As I explained in the other thread, it was long overdue.  I haven't trusted TECSHARE since he stalked me (thread, PM, and finally in a neutral trust when I blocked his PMs) after I didn't feel like engaging in a debate which his inflated ego found necessary to win.  He's aggressive and arrogant and I don't think he exhibits sound enough judgement for me not to exclude him.
7459  Economy / Reputation / Re: DT everyone? on: March 07, 2019, 11:21:02 PM
Speaking of that, interesting timing to exclude me isn't it The Pharmacist?
It might be funny to you, but it was overdue.  I think you have lousy judgement when it comes to matters of the trust system, which is why you were booted off DT the first time you were on it.
7460  Economy / Reputation / Re: DT everyone? on: March 07, 2019, 10:50:05 PM
Huh. Look at that they aren't on DT2 any more. Amazing how that works.
Doesn't seem like they should be, and if you disagree I'd say your judgement is skewed by your rage against the current DT list.  To me, Leo did the responsible  thing.

Cryptohunter is again blowing smoke, and the only thing he's going to drain is the precious time of anyone who bothers to read his moronic tirades.
