7461  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin or Gold? What would you pick? on: July 10, 2014, 07:44:16 AM
Im pretty dam old so I can remember 20 years ago and bitcoin would work still.   We arent going to reset that far unless its a full nuclear war then it'll be 1914.
The difficulty would be much slower but they had Pentium cpu back then and parallel processing.  Not that far off peer to peer and seti joint processing of packets and so on

I guess I should ask then what was the Gold Standard like in the 1970's and how well did it function as a means of trading and exchange
That is pretty far back now but having a comparable commodities based payment system versus the fractional fiat system compared to a digital currency system seems like an interesting area of discussion.

Basically gold physical commodities versus digital gold and virtual commodities it seems to be the generational gap point in currencies worth noting
1971 - Gold Standard 1971-Present No Tiered fiat system 2008-Present Digital Payment Systems

Wait so you are or are not claiming your Nakowa?

I am claiming I am not nakowa. I'm willing to disclose *that* personal detail. He's (or she's) one of the other 7 billion humans.

And also not Satoshi in all likelihood just had to eliminate that list by one more Smiley

Pretty much without a reinvestment its a mining bond with a fixed per G/H value that will be adjusted by difficulty changes
On the bright side difficulty seems to be pretty much at a temporary peaking period so their is a chance that this will keep the price fairly stable for a bit although I would say this is the best chance to reinvest but we will see how it turns out with the various factors in play.

7464  Economy / Speculation / Re: Do you really believe that Bitcoin will hit 1,000,000 on: July 10, 2014, 07:36:37 AM
I've been studying every damn article about bitcoin for the past 9 months and focusing on a macroeconomic level, $6000-$10000 is definitely realistic by the end of this year. If nothing else, just think about the ridiculous amount of infrastructure that currently being built for it AROUND THE GLOBE... its happening whether anyone likes it or not. (unless something completely drastic happens which no one can predict including me...)

With that said, I'm in the process of putting together a project to help facilitate mass adoption of Bitcoin. Let's hope I have something to show the community soon.

Yep the infrastructure and usability is a big factor in Bitcoin
Then you have the Buffet's who say that those two are not connected but that's an older generation of thinking in the digital world technology has proven to be revolutionary in every industry, perhaps the value at times varies but it is nice to believe in the potential utility of a whole new payment system.

Brazil against Netherland, and Germany against Argentina.
Hard to say who will win.
I think that all 4 teams deserved to be on those places where they are.
Now we will see who will be 3-rd and who will be a champion.

Well Brazil will come in kicking to try and recover the little pride they can save
Neymar is lucky that he missed that game and this one perhaps as well

As for the Champion it is a really interesting question and I don't know either a bit Bias to the Germans but only because of what happened that game, considering Argentina still has its top players like Messi this will be a lot closer.
7466  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Should The Bitcoin Foundation be renamed as The Realcoin Foundation ? on: July 10, 2014, 12:12:53 AM
Pierce did not wait long to stir up even more controversy.  I just read an article saying that Andreas was distancing himself from the foundation.   Don't think it's good at all for the foundation to be kind of viewed as "the face of bitcoin"  (at least to inexperienced people)

Yep that is the second discussed thread these threads are concurrent
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=684029.msg7759615#msg7759615

Regarding the accusation they are the realcoin foundation, not sure don't have enough info on that myself but it sounds like a direct conflict of interest to be shilling an altcoin alternative while using the foundation as a mechanism to do so.
7467  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Very severe blow to bitcoin on: July 10, 2014, 12:06:56 AM

Andreas Antonop's tweet is the worst news yet that I've heard for bitcoin.

Looks like Andreas is done with the Bitcoin Foundation. Good. Screw the Bitcoin Foundation.

"I can no longer have even the smallest association with the Bitcoin Foundation, because of the complete lack of transparency" https://twitter.com/aantonop/status/486926129409052672

The Bitcoin foundation has gained Pierce and lost Antonopolos.  This isn't going in the right direction at all.

This is good news, the foundation is a questionable organization for Bitcoin and we need alternatives.
It would be better to start fresh while Bitcoin is still relatively young and get this shuffling done when its not as painful to do.
7468  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2014-07-04] EU Banks Must Shun Bitcoin Until Rules in Place, EBA Says on: July 09, 2014, 11:59:32 PM
Shun them
Translation were afraid of Bitcoin destroying our financial system, but really terrorist financing is a bunch of FUD since its the same with any other currency.
Although I guess that press release from ISIS didn't help either ...

“Banks are not engaging with digital currencies yet as it is a person-to-person network that operates outside of banking,” he said by e-mail. “The more likely result of the announcement is to scare people from using digital currencies rather than banks.”
7469  Other / Off-topic / Re: FIFA World Cup 2014!!! on: July 09, 2014, 11:45:39 PM

p.s. I'm sure the Brazilians are going to support Argentina in the final.

No way. They are historical rivals.

Breaking news Germany vs Brazil game:

The ending was epic Smiley
I believe that Germany was running at around 75% after the second half and even holding back still got 2 more goals on them
If they tried they could have gotten another 5 but that would be insane enough.
7470  Other / Off-topic / Re: FIFA World Cup 2014!!! on: July 09, 2014, 10:43:03 PM
O_O Netherlands got blocked
This is Match point and they are going to the limit
Argentina Win this goes to the NEXT ROUND

Latin America VS EUROPE FINAL!

This hurts for Brazil though since Argentina plays their finals in Brazils home game good old friendly rivalries Smiley
7471  Other / Off-topic / Re: FIFA World Cup 2014!!! on: July 09, 2014, 10:24:47 PM

This is taken from the ropeway cam hanging over the stadium, also known as SkyCam.

Thanks didn't know there was a Skycam that published feed images somewhere of the match

This looks like it will be decided by penalty shots which I believe is what the Netherlands wanted going by their playing style, that said in my Opinion Argentina is not terrible at penalty shots so it will be interesting if it gets to that.
7472  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2014-07-04] How Bitcoin Merchants Are Pushing The Price Down on: July 09, 2014, 10:03:16 PM
Yeah because they never had to take days or weeks apply for a credit card or open a paypal account.

You have to wonder about the authors of these articles.
:-)

True enough people will switch when they see an immediate incentive.
That said I'm sure some of the users will look and consider it if they click on the overstock link to Bitcoin.
7473  Other / Off-topic / Re: FIFA World Cup 2014!!! on: July 09, 2014, 10:01:49 PM
3:1 ...this is how they are trying to stop Messi...

It's like a march of the Gazelles of Soccer that is an excellent photo
Wonder who took it but nice point.
7474  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Auction winner Tim draper says "Investors should have btc in their portfolio" on: July 09, 2014, 09:59:52 PM
I would hope that he believes that after just dropping $19 mill or whatever on all those blocks of BTC....  Tongue

Ha-ha Smooth point, I wish that he would tell us what price he got for those coins but we will be left in the dark on that one
Unless it's in the accounting reports of the Marshall's lol.
7475  Other / Off-topic / Re: FIFA World Cup 2014!!! on: July 09, 2014, 09:54:35 PM
Appears like we'll be having first goal-less semi-final just last few mins of intense footballing action.
Robben missed it..
Heading towards 30 mins more..

That would be a stark contrast
First the most goals in the Semi Final in its history (Believe)
Then on the opposite end for the next game the first goal-less semi-final the world cup is making history
7476  Other / Off-topic / Re: FIFA World Cup 2014!!! on: July 09, 2014, 09:50:36 PM
O_O that was so close for the Netherlands
The goalkeeper was in trouble that one and it would have won the game in Injury Time
Right in front of them but not good enough off to ET
7477  Other / Off-topic / Re: FIFA World Cup 2014!!! on: July 09, 2014, 09:35:33 PM
Well Messi almost got one there
But its about 75 mins and now is the time the Netherlands switches to the attack
Will be an interesting 15
7478  Economy / Economics / Re: What if someone wants to buy out Bitcoin on: July 09, 2014, 09:25:31 PM
Like acquire all 21 million coins.  Then what?    Roll Eyes

Could not acquire all the supply, and there would need to be a lot of coins on the exchange to do it lol.
15 Million Presently so they would need to live till 2100+ to get to the full mintage  Cool

Lol a FAQ for this would be useful
7479  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: BTC is a BUY on: July 09, 2014, 09:11:07 PM
800~ 6 Month target?

Everyone could easily call that.

Its way higher anyway.

Some made up Moodys for Bitcoin I guess
Not really putting any value behind these opinions
7480  Other / Off-topic / Re: FIFA World Cup 2014!!! on: July 09, 2014, 09:06:34 PM
Time to start the second half
One switch out for the Netherlands and a position switch so I wonder if it will make a difference in their tactics.
Oh well time to watch and observe again.
