7461  Other / Meta / Re: A different approach to solving the sig spamming problem. on: January 04, 2019, 02:59:52 AM
there is no point in solving a problem that does not exist in the first place.

the current situation is working just fine for the forum itself, the signature campaigns and the members participating.

it's all up to the signature campaign managers to chose their participants, it is not hard to filter the good posters for the shitposters. but most campaign managers follow the bulk ads sort of way.

plus, shitposters will always find a reason to shitpost, if it's not for money then for fun.
7462  Other / Meta / Re: Planing to translate whole topics to local board> need permission. on: January 04, 2019, 02:50:10 AM
While I applaud the initiative the internet really sin't the place for free exchange of ideas across borders/languages. It's more for transferring images of unclothed humans performing various tasks.  Tongue

That is 1 way of exchanging ideas, you get to learn new ways of performing your own various tasks   Grin

I want to clarify though, are you a native Arabic speaker or at least passably fluent as a local? If not I would encourage you to maybe find someone to partner with for this project as translations shouldn't be done through a translation service/program. However working with another forum member who's English might not be the best but can communicate may be beneficial for both of you.

Arabic is my mother tongue, this alone does not qualify me to be a professional translator but I have the translation experience needed, but i 100% agree with you, find a helping had will differently be way better than having to do the whole thing myself, i will check with "Kavelj22" ,he offered to help ,  i will see how to combine efforts together to make the work easier for the two of us.

btw, always nice seeing people from the mining board on Meta.
7463  Other / Beginners & Help / How to post more effectively and get more Merit. on: January 04, 2019, 02:38:21 AM
I Didn't know where else to post this , this goes to newbies ranked members all the way to legendary members.

Rather than telling you the DOs, i'll just list the DONT"s

1- Don't be a 1-liner shitposter

this is not Twitter, you will seem like a shitposter who is only posting to get paid for the signature campaign, even if there is nothing much to say , just type some bullshit to fill in your actual words.

2- Don't post  China great wall text

nobody has got the time nor the mood to read 30 lines for the same person unless it was Satoshi explaining  how to get free bitcoin.

3- stick to simple format

don't use capital / bold / kinder-garden like colors / weird ICO symbols on your tittle.

if you stop doing these 3 annoying things, you will be more effective, get more merit, more love and you can thank me later.

Cheers.

7464  Economy / Speculation / Re: What's the real price? on: January 04, 2019, 02:11:04 AM
haven't read the replies, so sorry if someone has already explained this.

the major difference in BTC prices is due to some exchanges have BTC prices against FIAT USD while some other exchanges price it against USDT. and UDST is not an exact 1 Fiat USD. so if you exchange USDT to USD to BTC the price difference will be much less than how it looks to you.

but still almost everything on planet earth is priced differently on different places, but usually the cost of buying at place x to sell at place y is higher than x-y / y-x price, but there are still some chances of arbitrage.

when you travel to a country and try to exchange USD to that local currency, you will find slightly different exchange prices even on the same street.
7465  Other / Meta / Re: Planing to translate whole topics to local board> need permission. on: January 04, 2019, 01:56:56 AM
ok so i think the majority suggest taking the op permission before translating, this will slow the process down but seems like the best way to go.

thanks guys.

i saw your translation, very nice , Arabic is very complicated that it looks so obvious if auto-translation was used. i can sure use some help. will send you a pm and see how can we work together on translating some good content.
7466  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: s9j hosted, often hashrate is 0 (on nicehash) on: January 04, 2019, 01:49:36 AM
This is typical of NH. You are not "mining". You are renting your hash power. The zero is when the miner switches from user to user I believe.

while this is true, but somehow wrong, if everything is workig great then you shouldn't notice any disconnect on your NH status page, the current hashrate has to always to be somewhat close to the average, the only thing i can think of right now is that the firmware he uses has some dev fees, that's one common way of the sudden 0 hash rate which will not show on NH if the miner is 24/7 directed to NH.
7467  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: s9j hosted, often hashrate is 0 (on nicehash) on: January 02, 2019, 01:46:47 PM
does it show 0 hashrate on your pool side too? if no > don't worry , if yes , do worry

possible scenarios
1- the ASIC is broken
2- it just needs a reboot
3-it just needs a reset
4-it needs a new firmware
5-your pool information might be wrong, no pool alive found, not hashing
6-you have been scammed.

there are probably another 10-20 possible scenario, without a screenshot of the miner status page, and the Kernel Logs, it will be hard to help you, you have not even mentioned if this s9 ever mined for you, whether it recently stopped or just never worked. don't be stingy when providing information regarding a technical problem you have, throw all the info and the pictures you can at us so we can help you.

Good luck

edit: post the pools screenshot too, there is a good chance you using wrong inputs.
7468  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Finding best new coins to mine on: January 02, 2019, 01:38:57 PM
This website > coincalculators.io

it has an option of showing "low marketcap coins" it will show you bunch of coins that whattomine does not.

now this is very personal, but i think it's not the smartest idea to mine a coin that yet to see the light, the risk is as big as the reward, the way i treat mining is that i mine the most profitable coin based on BTC income, and then use the profit to buy some new shitcoins, i don't risk all my mining effort on shitcoins simply because we may never see another bull run like 2017 where every single coin got pumped,i believe the next rally will favour good projects only, most people realized that the majority of these low marketcap are not worth the investment. but again i could be wrong.

you can also check shittomine.com , it got lots of shit-coins to mine.

and by the way, you need to move your topic to ALT mining, this is BTC only space.

Good luck.
7469  Economy / Reputation / Re: Fix trust rating on: January 01, 2019, 09:35:57 PM
I posted a whole topic in  regards to "regulating" DT trust for feedbacks that are not based on "trading" manners, so i thought you got tagged for trolling or some other silly reason, but when i looked at the reason why you got it, it only makes sense that you deserved it, regardless of your "intention", since nobody is able to read your mind , it is safe to think that the chances of you trying to "scam" are pretty high, it is like someone walking into the bank wearing a mask, while he could be doing it for fun , chances are he is planning to rob the back.

7470  Other / Meta / Re: HOW do I get merit? on: January 01, 2019, 09:27:01 PM
Tip no.1 to get merit: use default font size .

Welcome.
7471  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I am a loser. My only question now is, how do I tell my wife on: January 01, 2019, 06:30:42 PM
I would sell half of the ETH and buy other coins, just in case ETH does not do well in the next bull run, you already have taken a big risk, bailing out now could be a worse decision. but also be prepared as it could take 2 years or so until you can sell your ETH for a better price. if ever.

Good luck.

Great mining room.

thanks for your comment.
7473  Other / Meta / Re: What do u mean? Freeze? Mr officer?! on: December 31, 2018, 10:36:19 PM

Rule number 1 in life is  Respect.
---------------------------

even if you are  "right" in any argument, the moment you start disrespecting others, you lose your rights and instantly become the one to blame.

i was going to try and help or at least explain things to you , but after this attitude that you showed, i can't even wish you good luck.
7474  Other / Meta / Re: What makes a post a HQ post. What makes a post a LQ post. ? merit - lets see?? on: December 31, 2018, 09:31:35 PM
I could be the only one who thinks this, but in many cases language skills including grammar and spelling are not an important measure of post quality at all, some people who hardly speak English are crypto-experts, i see a few of them on the Mining forum especially,  some of them might be using Google Translator to provide some high quality posts that include advanced solutions to major problems. those to me are very HQ posts that deserve merit much more than a well written post which has nothing worthy to merit, i also don't think that someone who is providing some sort of valuable information for FREE is obligated to have any language related skills, it's the reader who needs to put some effort in understanding, on the other hand if the person is asking for help to a certain issue then he is somehow "obligated" to make himself clear if he wants to get the proper response.
7475  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: newb- Lightning node questions on: December 31, 2018, 01:05:27 AM

7476  Other / Ivory Tower / Re: What is bitcoin's largest obstacle to bitcoin adoption? on: December 31, 2018, 12:42:29 AM

well that's a good common sense, but it does not really answer the question, we all know when people are "Forced" to do something, they will learn the best ways of doing it. but i am talking about the average person, who uses only his local "stable for now at least" currency. average joe is too scared of holding his own assets and having 100% responsibility of securing it because he always counted on the bank to do that for him, average joe likes bitcoin but only worried about being hacked and never refunded. how do we go about this average joe ?
7477  Other / Ivory Tower / Re: Artificial neural network VS Bitcoin Address. on: December 31, 2018, 12:36:59 AM
Hey mikeywith great answer!, now i have clearly why this is impossible. The way you explain it (with apples and sticks) is clear for any one.  So, we can say the score is Bitcoin 1 - ANN 0.

Actually it's more like SHA256 1 - ANN 0 . we need to give credit to Merkle whom i think was the first person to introduce collision-resistant hash function.
7478  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: My "mini" mining farm on: December 31, 2018, 12:31:09 AM
Jeeze whereabouts are you that 45C is normal?

We get hot and humid summers in southern Ontario and as long as their was managed airflow there was no need for AC. But agree that introducing some cold air will maintain the health of the miners long term. Easy to calculate your overhead and stay profitable.

very close to the sahara desert "no joke" ,  if power is dirt cheap AC is the way to go i the summer, if not the you will need to move a ton of air around the miners when it get's really hot. it's just a matter of everyone own abilities.

cheers
7479  Other / Meta / Re: Forum suggestion for countering low quality on: December 31, 2018, 12:23:06 AM

exactly the point, we can't tell the exact number or ratio, which i would bet the house that in terms of shitpost to quality posts with be many:little. rank alone is not enough criteria to build restrictions on , if there is anything to be implemented it has to be rank-less based, it has to be quality-based, it also has to apply to everybody only then it will be fair.

i also think that shitposts are one of the main reasons the signature campaigns are still going. if every signature campaign focused only on members who post quality posts, then i am sure 2 or 3  campaigns will be able to utilize every qualified member.

but those signature campaigns focus mainly on VIEWS, someone who is promoting a shitcoin ico would rather have 100 shitposters wearing their signature than 5 quality members. and it seems like it's working for them ! .
7480  Other / Meta / Re: Forum suggestion for countering low quality on: December 30, 2018, 11:51:57 PM

yes i have been on the forum since April but only started to be active like last month or so , and i do know how the merit system works. my statement was not a reply to anything you said in particular, it was mainly to the op suggesting the limit of newbies.

for example this

Newbie   -    Should not be able to open their own topics, should not be able to post links, with current 360s between posts they should also have daily limit.
