7461  Economy / Reputation / Re: Fix trust rating on: January 01, 2019, 09:35:57 PM
I posted a whole topic in  regards to "regulating" DT trust for feedbacks that are not based on "trading" manners, so i thought you got tagged for trolling or some other silly reason, but when i looked at the reason why you got it, it only makes sense that you deserved it, regardless of your "intention", since nobody is able to read your mind , it is safe to think that the chances of you trying to "scam" are pretty high, it is like someone walking into the bank wearing a mask, while he could be doing it for fun , chances are he is planning to rob the back.

7462  Other / Meta / Re: HOW do I get merit? on: January 01, 2019, 09:27:01 PM
Tip no.1 to get merit: use default font size .

Welcome.
7463  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I am a loser. My only question now is, how do I tell my wife on: January 01, 2019, 06:30:42 PM
I would sell half of the ETH and buy other coins, just in case ETH does not do well in the next bull run, you already have taken a big risk, bailing out now could be a worse decision. but also be prepared as it could take 2 years or so until you can sell your ETH for a better price. if ever.

Good luck.

Great mining room.

thanks for your comment.

Rule number 1 in life is  Respect.
---------------------------

even if you are  "right" in any argument, the moment you start disrespecting others, you lose your rights and instantly become the one to blame.

i was going to try and help or at least explain things to you , but after this attitude that you showed, i can't even wish you good luck.
7466  Other / Meta / Re: What makes a post a HQ post. What makes a post a LQ post. ? merit - lets see?? on: December 31, 2018, 09:31:35 PM
I could be the only one who thinks this, but in many cases language skills including grammar and spelling are not an important measure of post quality at all, some people who hardly speak English are crypto-experts, i see a few of them on the Mining forum especially,  some of them might be using Google Translator to provide some high quality posts that include advanced solutions to major problems. those to me are very HQ posts that deserve merit much more than a well written post which has nothing worthy to merit, i also don't think that someone who is providing some sort of valuable information for FREE is obligated to have any language related skills, it's the reader who needs to put some effort in understanding, on the other hand if the person is asking for help to a certain issue then he is somehow "obligated" to make himself clear if he wants to get the proper response.
7467  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: newb- Lightning node questions on: December 31, 2018, 01:05:27 AM
this does not seem like daemon is running, did you try

Code:
bitcoin-cli getinfo

or

Code:
bitcoin-cli getblockchaininfo

also you should post the bitcoin.conf info
7468  Other / Ivory Tower / Re: What is bitcoin's largest obstacle to bitcoin adoption? on: December 31, 2018, 12:42:29 AM

well that's a good common sense, but it does not really answer the question, we all know when people are "Forced" to do something, they will learn the best ways of doing it. but i am talking about the average person, who uses only his local "stable for now at least" currency. average joe is too scared of holding his own assets and having 100% responsibility of securing it because he always counted on the bank to do that for him, average joe likes bitcoin but only worried about being hacked and never refunded. how do we go about this average joe ?
7469  Other / Ivory Tower / Re: Artificial neural network VS Bitcoin Address. on: December 31, 2018, 12:36:59 AM
Hey mikeywith great answer!, now i have clearly why this is impossible. The way you explain it (with apples and sticks) is clear for any one.  So, we can say the score is Bitcoin 1 - ANN 0.

Actually it's more like SHA256 1 - ANN 0 . we need to give credit to Merkle whom i think was the first person to introduce collision-resistant hash function.
7470  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: My "mini" mining farm on: December 31, 2018, 12:31:09 AM
Jeeze whereabouts are you that 45C is normal?

We get hot and humid summers in southern Ontario and as long as their was managed airflow there was no need for AC. But agree that introducing some cold air will maintain the health of the miners long term. Easy to calculate your overhead and stay profitable.

very close to the sahara desert "no joke" ,  if power is dirt cheap AC is the way to go i the summer, if not the you will need to move a ton of air around the miners when it get's really hot. it's just a matter of everyone own abilities.

cheers
7471  Other / Meta / Re: Forum suggestion for countering low quality on: December 31, 2018, 12:23:06 AM

exactly the point, we can't tell the exact number or ratio, which i would bet the house that in terms of shitpost to quality posts with be many:little. rank alone is not enough criteria to build restrictions on , if there is anything to be implemented it has to be rank-less based, it has to be quality-based, it also has to apply to everybody only then it will be fair.

i also think that shitposts are one of the main reasons the signature campaigns are still going. if every signature campaign focused only on members who post quality posts, then i am sure 2 or 3  campaigns will be able to utilize every qualified member.

but those signature campaigns focus mainly on VIEWS, someone who is promoting a shitcoin ico would rather have 100 shitposters wearing their signature than 5 quality members. and it seems like it's working for them ! .
7472  Other / Meta / Re: Forum suggestion for countering low quality on: December 30, 2018, 11:51:57 PM

yes i have been on the forum since April but only started to be active like last month or so , and i do know how the merit system works. my statement was not a reply to anything you said in particular, it was mainly to the op suggesting the limit of newbies.

for example this

Newbie   -    Should not be able to open their own topics, should not be able to post links, with current 360s between posts they should also have daily limit.

7473  Other / Meta / Re: Planing to translate whole topics to local board> need permission. on: December 30, 2018, 10:44:21 PM

that will be impossible to do for a few reasons

1- The OP might not be active on the forum anymore
2- some topics involves decisions, and the replies are more important than the OP, having to PM everyone for permission to translate their post will be practically impossible.

I plan to do this on large-scale not just 1 or 2 topics, so unless there is an efficient yet within the law method then the task will be impossible to achieve.
7474  Other / Meta / Re: Forum suggestion for countering low quality on: December 30, 2018, 10:30:43 PM

look around the technical and series discussion, you will be amazed , many members who joined recently are top notch geeks.
If that's true, then they shouldn't have a problem advancing in rank if that's important to them.  But if you think it's not the low-ranked members who are the primary problem, obviously you haven't ready many threads in Altcoin/Bitcoin Discussion.  Not to mention the rest of the altcoin section, the ANN, bounties, and tokens parts in particular.  The shitposting noobs have also started to infest Economics, Trading Discussion, and Speculation as well.  Go read some threads in all those sections and then tell me if you disagree with me 100%.

I clearly mentioned this "look around the technical and series discussion"

here are a few examples

> https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3459858
>https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2258344.0
>https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4768828.0
>https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5079681.0
>https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5089384.0

These members with low ranks along with many others have many great posts. the reason you see the low-ranked members as the source of problem is probably mainly because of the number of the low-ranked compared to the high-ranked.

for every good newbie there are probably 10 shitposters newbies posting in the same topic, it's mainly a matter of low-rank to high-rank ratio that gives this perspective.

everyone was a newbie at once, and i believe they all should have the same chances like those previews newbies who now ranked up.
7475  Other / Meta / Planing to translate whole topics to local board> need permission. on: December 30, 2018, 09:51:31 PM

There is a lack of content within the local Arabic board, there is a large numbers of users but with barely any content. and this is mainly because many members
 don't understand English.

so i am thinking of copying-pasting whole topics from mainly but not limited to (Bitcoin Technical Support , Beginners & Help ,Serious discussion and Mining)

The way I plan to do this, is basically copy paste the OP of topics i find useful , picking a few informative replies, translate everything to Arabic, and post on the
 Arabic board.

i will surely post the original link as a reference , but then having to quote every reply/comment will requite a lot of work.

so the short version of my question is ; can I just post the link + the original poster's username and then paste the translation without having to quote every
single thing? will this be against the forum rules "i have read them all but couldn't find anything that's quite closely related to my question".

also i am open to suggestions of how to implement this "content exporting" without violating any copy rights, also keep in mind that I am doing this for free and
mainly to to help spread the awareness and the good quality posts to the Arabic local board, so doing this with the "least" effort will be more encouraging, as
long as i am not violating any rules.
7476  Other / Meta / Re: Forum suggestion for countering low quality on: December 30, 2018, 09:28:57 PM
I don't understand why many people relate poor quality / shitposts /spam posts to newbies or lower rank members. this is 100% wrong.

why would you limit a newbie who has a huge amount of knowledge just because he recently joined the forum?

look around the technical and series discussion, you will be amazed , many members who joined recently are top notch geeks.

allow everyone to post, let the members decide who is worthy and who is not,  by merting and commenting on quality posts.

7477  Other / Meta / Re: Autoban on: December 30, 2018, 01:18:22 AM
His profile is https://bpip.org/profile.aspx?p=riosakamoto in case you didn't see hyperlink.

looked at a few of his posts, he is not a shit-poster in fact the quality of his posts is not bad at all. and he didn't seem like a copy-paste person, i am interested in knowing the ban reason  Grin.

7478  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: will work/ help out for merit on: December 30, 2018, 01:06:41 AM
1-offer your services within the marketplace if you want to work and get paid.

2- if you want Merit use your knowledge to post quality posts, for example make a simple guide for newbies on how to set up their own masternodes , i am pretty sure you will get a lot of merits for posting things you are good at.

7479  Other / Meta / Re: Is the Default trust system still working/active? on: December 30, 2018, 12:42:09 AM
I can't take serious someone like the description licking boobs

who doesn't like licking boobs ? Huh i sometimes's stop and stare at that profile picture, it actually has a tongue moving. Grin .

anyway if you plan to trade again on the forum, just be extra careful, offer a valid collateral if you need a loan.

Good luck.
7480  Other / Ivory Tower / Re: Artificial neural network VS Bitcoin Address. on: December 30, 2018, 12:22:12 AM

So, the rules were: give a table of data with 3 colums. first the temperature, then the pressure and at last the property we want to get, it could be entropy, density, viscosity and other stuff... Run the ANN ad if we get a R close to 1 (linear regression coefficient), then our equation was right.

in theory you can, but practically you just can't. the difference between the example you gave is that that first both input and output are small, and the result does not have to be 100% accurate, also the output can be reversed with a few possibilities.

for example if you are only allowed to multiply 2 numbers as an input to generate a single output

if you have

3  *   4   = 12

if you have

3 *  ?  = 12 > easy to solve the second input

if you have

?  *  ?   = 12

you have a few options to try out

1* 12 = 12

2 * 6 = 12

3 * 4  =12

4* 3  = 12
----------------------------------

but doing this with a 256 bits you always have 2^256  combinations !

the strength of the hashing function is that you can't know where it came from.
