7461  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why haven't governments illegalized bitcoin transactions? on: August 28, 2019, 09:44:34 AM
They can easily categorize any bitcoin transactions illegal, the thing is there is a lot of potential for them to use it/benefit from it by leaving it as is. One thing is for taxes, the other one is, well, catching big fishes and keeping the money to themselves. They are constantly seeking for regulations to engulf bitcoin that can give them the edge all the while pretending to be as caring and open with any advancements that will help the community and the development of the crypto itself. Also, even if they were successful in making tx illegal, underground economies would still persist and they cannot do something about it, so yeah, they'll just let it slip and look for things to exploit its existence.
7462  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: My tips for Starladder in Berlin (counter-strike) on: August 28, 2019, 08:57:46 AM
ENCE - AVANGAR, 28 Aug 2019, 12:00
Pick: Ence @ 1.65
Stake:5/10

Source: Paid service

ENCE is the clear favorites for this match-up, although you simply can't rule out jame's stellar performance on some round. 1.65 is already a juicy odds for a rather consistent team as of late, and it's a bet I wouldn't like to miss. There is a slim chance that AVANGAR would snatch this from ENCE but if one wants to go that route, a low bet on them is not going to hurt one's bankroll.
7463  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: In what way bitcoin gets increased usage? on: August 27, 2019, 05:54:01 PM
I'd like to cling on the side of bitcoin being used increasingly in illicit activities, knowing full well that even with the help of CipherTrace in tracking where X amount went, it still is time-consuming and before the said algorithm catches the culprit, funds are already liquidated and the people behind it are already in hiding. Not that I want bitcoin to be used in such, but apparently that's what's happening, with cash being the second best option to launder money due to the existence of Swiss bank accounts that offer full protection to their clients.
7464  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What is the difference between binary option and gambling? on: August 27, 2019, 04:51:32 PM
Binary option for me is just like a form of gambling although with a lower sample rate for data that can be used for future positions whereas gambling is just basically luck playing out in your favor (unless it's sports betting wherein you can study a bit on your picks and win off of the data you have.) Personally, I'd pick pure trading and not just binary options. But between binary options and gambling, I'll choose gambling and sports betting specifically because you'll have more control over the risk you'll be playing rather than betting blindly and hoping for the best.
7465  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2019 MTV Video Music Awards on: August 27, 2019, 03:32:39 PM
Bovada do have this one and they do already accept bitcoin http://gpsts.org/bovada-accepts-bitcoin/

I'm also interested to bet on this event.

Bovada is one of the biggest sportsbook but I think they'll require a KYC even for bitcoin transaction, can anyone confirm here?

Just tried it earlier out of curiosity and yes, they require KYC even for bitcoin transactions. Even though they were highly unregulated 2 years back, they might have updated their terms since regulators are pressing hard on for regulations related to bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. As for the event, I'm pretty sure onehash was offering the said line just days ago, though I'm not updated with it right now.
7466  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Free Fixed Match - 200% Fixed, Maxbet - Insider info on: August 27, 2019, 02:06:58 PM
MPBL is on its infancy, so I personally think that there are some fixed matches so as to establish some teams first before getting in those advertisements and whatnot for the league. Also, there aren't any preventive measures against match fixing on the said league so I don't find it hard to believe that this guy might be telling the truth. Anyways though, we'll have to see first the results in the coming games, although again last minute sways is still possible even though insider info says a match is already guaranteed fixed.
7467  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: I don't know how to trust a gambling site nowadays! on: August 27, 2019, 01:33:27 PM
Personally if a gambling site is offering a deposit bonus, I first check what kind of terms they offer for that and if it has a high requirement for me to be able to attain and withdraw, I don't use it and I just let things be. Usually, only newly-erected sites are the ones offering such bonuses to attain a following from a lot of people early on in the game, and those well-established ones have some kind of bonuses every now and then but not as lucrative and crazy as to what these new sites offer.
7468  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tyson Fury vs Otto Wallins on: August 27, 2019, 04:31:01 AM
This match should be an easy work for Tyson Fury. No offense for the other dude but seriously, I can't seem to find any decent fight/match-ups this guy had. And lo, 62% KO rate from an unknown fighter against a rising star? I don't think stats would matter by then. I'd chuck in some money on Tyson's side and let him do the dirty work on the ring.
7469  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: OpenNode requires KYC now! on: August 27, 2019, 02:16:42 AM
Just like what I've mentioned in previous posts, it's only a matter of time before these services/payment gateways implement KYC rules in their own platforms to adhere with what the government says. It's not really hard to tell if they're going to implement it or not because that's what most services are going for anyway even if they remained strict to their stand about not budging in to the government's control. In order to keep their business afloat, they have to do some form of a compromise even though it might hurt their user-base.

Now I'm keen to the developments of KYC for BTCPay.
7470  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Overall winning - Dice on: August 26, 2019, 11:12:02 AM
For some instances, yes, though I don't consider dice as a real gambling game that will net you big profits because it's all dependent on luck and nothing else. Once you get that single roll of your life, you will be chasing that same old run that you used to have and end up in disappointments, resulting into an empty wallet and a broken budget. No strategy is applicable to dice as well, as again, you are playing against what the seed has to offer and nothing else.
7471  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis - US Open thread - Predictions on: August 26, 2019, 09:02:10 AM
Tbh I'm kinda rooting for Djokovic to reach semis than Goffin but yeah, as you said it, the road will be pretty hard and tedious especially Medvedev who seemed to be in a good playing form right now. Federer, well, yeah, Cincinnati, but then again you can't rule out how this man controls the tempo of his games even though he somewhat played bad in Cincinnati, especially against Rublev who's basically a rookie when compared with Roger's experience. We'll see how it goes, but I have my pick for Djokovic and I believe he can get past the hurdles, but he will have to earn it.
7472  Economy / Economics / Re: First biological theory of money supports Bitcoin on: August 23, 2019, 11:58:33 PM
I'm a biologist who specializes on genes myself, and yes, we do believe that there is this certain gene that controls our greed, selfishness and lust for money and power that has been the cause of war since the beginning of human civilization. I would be keen to take part on this research and place my inputs myself, and one facet of this study only lingers around money and not even with power. Thanks for an interesting reading.
7473  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Anonymity with your Bitcoin Transactions on: August 23, 2019, 10:54:02 PM
Before, you could  easily stay anonymous by using multiple exchanges for transactions, although of course it comes with a cost (negligible entirely back then) and the process is painstaking. Along came mixers, although at the current times, governments are already looking at it with a watchful eye. Binance, like squatter said, can be pretty much an avenue to circumvent KYC laws, though the question is until when? Tor doesn't help one bit; it only changes your IPs but not mask your addresses.
7474  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How Often Do you Bet on Politics? on: August 23, 2019, 09:48:16 PM
It's an extremely interesting bet to be made honestly and some bookies are offering it just for the lulz. There isn't much money pouring on such bets even though the lines are lzucrative and sometimes, huge amounts of profits can be had. The Brexit one perhaps is the last bet I made in politics, although it's already predicted countless of times that we'll be having a No-Deal Brexit, odds at play are still 5x on that obvious outcome alone.
7475  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can a Bank Run Financial Activies on Blockchain Without Crypto Currency ? on: August 23, 2019, 09:17:15 PM
Yes, and some of them are planning to do it although I don't really see how much would be changing knowing full well that their services can work great even without the blockchain. It's just a decentralized private ledger after all and I don't even see how things would stack up from there. Perhaps some of their services would be faster and more users/customers would be taken care of but generally, services would still remain the same.
7476  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Mining Bitcoin at a nuclear power station in Ukraine on: August 23, 2019, 01:31:19 PM
There is nothing magnificent or amazing in stealing energy and using it for monetary gains, even if it includes bitcoins or other crypto. If people want to use nuclear or other cheap sources of electricity, they can do so by visiting Iceland and other countries where renewables are ever present and is the main source of energy for those countries. Although bitcoin was not really the main culprit for this bad news, this somehow puts bitcoin in a rather bad light indirectly, which we know isn't good in any way.
7477  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are banks scared of crypto on: August 22, 2019, 10:03:32 PM
Obviously they are not, and it will take a lot more than new ATH and other positive comments about the price before banks get threatened by what crypto can do. They still offer far more services than crypto will ever do plus the fact that they are mandated, regulated and supported by the government. A banking entity is far more superior on what they do compared to a crypto, say bitcoin. Individual entities can issue bitcoin loans with interest etc but it will not be as butter-smooth as what banks do.
7478  Economy / Economics / Re: Trade war Influences on cryptocurrency on: August 22, 2019, 08:00:10 PM
Large-scale businesses and foreign investors would still choose the use of USD over any other currency given that most still use the said fiat for the majority of their trades and dealings around the world. Bitcoin, in its current shape and form does not pose to be one of the leading currencies to be used in the event of a larger tension between the US and China, simply because a lot of companies would simply need to follow suit and of course, the threat of volatility still lingers within the currency. For now, the two nations are vying to be the most used currency around the world, with CNY devaluing harder and USD gaining the upper hand. Bitcoin and crypto, perhaps, could be a hedge should this continue and worsen over time, but for trades and transactions, it's no doubt that USD is still king.
7479  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Two Thieves Caught on Tape Stealing Bitcoin ATM in the US on: August 22, 2019, 07:33:21 PM
Ahh, the power of surveillance cameras. Had it not been for those little eyes we won't be seeing this gem right here. Good thing though the ATM is placed in an area where there is a camera rolling, thus the law enforcement will have better chances on nabbing these guys on the run. With the recent popularity bitcoin has received due to its sudden peak from 2018, it will certainly be a hot target for thieves and nefarious beings, one example is this report. This will not be the end of the many faces of thieving around the bitcoin industry.
7480  Economy / Gambling / Re: Blocked: The money transfer wars - Could bitcoin help? on: August 22, 2019, 01:34:46 PM
I have had one of my exchange account blocked after I receive a payout from a gambling website. I still have my funds on the said exchange and I feel like not retrieving it anymore given that they are asking for tons of information just to get my account unlocked. Knowing that online gambling has long been frowned upon in this country, it's only recently that they managed to up their game and involved cryptocurrency exchanges in the said crackdown. Perhaps some countries had it easy, but in the Philippines, it's exceptionally hard to go and gamble online and try to withdraw your funds.
