7461  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum wrong fee estimation, can cost you a lot on: January 02, 2021, 10:33:13 AM
I suggest using a different wallet instead; probably something like Mycelium, but I personally prefer BlueWallet. I personally use their desktop wallet from time to time, but I really don't remember their Android app being any decent.
7462  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: i give up on: January 02, 2021, 07:54:55 AM
Having this problem too, also with Hodlhodl. That's why I'm always forced to take some risk(chargebacks) and use PayPal when I'm trying to sell some BTC. Most people just don't see the importance of no-KYC p2p platforms yet unfortunately.

How about taking a look on https://localcryptos.com, kyc isn't required so it's a plus, I just don't know if there's enough buy/sell available for your country.
Mate OP just said that he gave up on LocalCryptos due to the lack of sellers in his/her region. You might want to re-read. 🤣
7463  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is trust Wallet and Bread Wallet are non-custodial wallet ? on: January 02, 2021, 06:17:30 AM
I want to be clear that trust Wallet and Bread Wallet are non-custodial wallet ?
Yes, both are non-custodial(at least them claim to be).

Is it safe to store bitcoins and crypto in these wallets because we have full control over the private ki ?
Yes, I personally have used BRD as a hot wallet and it's pretty decent. But of course, with bigger amounts of funds, a hardware wallet is the way to go.

In case, both of them close their services, we can still use our coins by importing private key in other wallets ?
With BRD, yes. Not sure about Trust wallet, but most likely yes.
7464  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to keep fiat safe while waiting to buy dips? on: January 02, 2021, 04:55:24 AM
I know keeping fiat on any exchange is not wise while waiting.

You should be fine with leaving fiat on exchanges because exchanges getting hacked is mostly concerned with stolen bitcoin and cryptocurrencies and not fiat; Assuming you're actually referring to real fiat money and not stablecoins.
7465  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Where to check the All Time High of bitcoin based on average of main exchanges? on: January 02, 2021, 04:32:34 AM
CMC if you want the average of all listed exchanges. It's pretty controversial though because they also have crappy probably-fake-volume exchanges so it could lead to inaccurate numbers.

If you really want accuracy though, you probably might want to do it manually by just averaging the ATH prices of exchanges that you deem legitimate enough. But yea, like what BitMaxz said mostly Preev should be enough.
7466  Economy / Services / Re: [FULL] ChipMixer Signature Campaign | Sr Member+ | Up to 0.0375 BTC/w on: December 31, 2020, 04:00:13 PM
Happy new year ChipMixer squad! 🎉 From the South-East Asian timezone 🇵🇭. Long live ChipMixer, and may you all stack more sats in 2021. 🙏
7467  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why is Plan B disappearing? on: December 31, 2020, 03:40:11 PM
Why the concern for privacy? I thought he was already pretty private? Is it in case Bitcoin does NOT follow his model?

He is already pretty private. He has said that he’s just going to go into hiding once bitcoin reaches a certain price peak. And him being accurate with his S2F and S2FX in the long term is obviously going to give him a lot of attention, and it’s probably something he doesn’t want especially if he has a good chunk of BTC. And not to mention that he could mess up with his netsec somewhere down the road, potentially exposing his real identity.

If his model ends up being inaccurate, so what, really.

Though he’s not someone like Satoshi, dude’s just playing it safe, which is the smarter thing to do.
7468  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why is Plan B disappearing? on: December 31, 2020, 02:25:56 PM
If I remember correctly, it's either he said it on the WhatBitcoinDid podcast or on Twitter that at some point(probably at a certain bitcoin price) that he will go into hiding. It's a safe assumption that it's for his personal safety and privacy.

With that said, what specific tweet made you think that he was leaving/disappearing?
7469  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I couldn't find live bitcoin prices on YouTube so I made it. Thoughts? on: December 31, 2020, 02:18:09 PM
Personally, not sure why I would play your stream all day if I could simply use something like Preev and save a lot of bandwidth and RAM. With that said, perhaps at least play some royalty-free music on the stream or something? Not the best addition to your stream, but feel free to think of better ideas. Just to at least give people a reason to actually play your stream vs using Preev/LiveCoinWatch/CoinMarketCap/etc.
7470  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: SEC on decentralized projects on: December 31, 2020, 11:43:09 AM
1. For development to be actually decentralized. If he was still publicly working on Bitcoin, no doubt that there would be heavy biases towards Satoshi's opinions.

2. To protect himself/herself/themselves, because you know, creating a decentralized money system to overthrow central banks and all that. While we don't know what the government would do to Satoshi if he/she/they were to be caught, it's probably safe to assume that it wouldn't be anything good..

7472  Other / Off-topic / Re: Why twitter account suspended mostly on: December 31, 2020, 06:09:14 AM
Let me guess, were your accounts used for bounties? If so, it's pretty obvious. Posting links, following/unfollowing people in huge numbers, mass liking of tweets; you know the drill.
7473  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Who else is putting their Stimulus into Bitcoin? on: December 31, 2020, 06:03:05 AM
I respect that, but shouldn't this be an opportunity for small amounts to become bigger. If you want to safely park then you might as well just put that money in blue chip stocks because there, there are dividends as long as you are an investor.

It's still an opportunity to grow small amounts of money, if you're looking at the bigger long-term picture.

Now, I'm definitely not against putting money in stocks, but let's not forget that the stock market also has been in a bull run lol. And that not all bluechips distribute dividends, and that dividend cuts happen.
7474  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What's the point of so many cryptocurrencies? on: December 31, 2020, 03:44:43 AM
1. Cashgrabs
2. Scams
3. Some are trying to join in on the hype
4. More scams
5. Some are trying to go for a different use-case(kinda reasonable, but most are still crap)
6. Some are trying to beat bitcoin(goodluck lmao)
7475  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Who else is putting their Stimulus into Bitcoin? on: December 31, 2020, 03:24:54 AM
If one did, would it be a good idea to be constantly advertising that fact? What if authorities crack down? It's supposed to be stimulus and not take the money and stash it in your own monetary system-ulus.

One could see what we're allegedly doing as immoral. I don't see it that way. Just playing devil's advocate.
At this stage, knowing that the people who buy bitcoin are still a huge minority, you're probably overthinking it a bit. Gonna give it to ya though, sometimes it's good being paranoid. Use the money to buy bitcoin(assuming you don't need money for basic needs) on no-KYC peer-to-peer exchanges so the government doesn't know about your bitcoin purchase.

At this time of year is not a good timing to buy a bitcoin because the prices are running high. I understand that the 600$ is not a lot but I do not see the profit because this run will not be going on forever. I hope that you can get your profit even at this ATH in the bitcoin prices.
To be fair, people have been saying the same since when we were at around the $15k-$20k range. 🤷‍♂️ The fact is, it's pretty difficult to time the market, so just continue stacking sats if you actually believe that bitcoin rises in price in the long-term.
7476  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: NFL have their first player played in bitcoin on: December 31, 2020, 03:21:15 AM
Bitwage was doing this for years, now ZAP copies it and it's revolutionary...this is the part that pisses me off a bit.

Hmm. I guess the huge advantage is that Zap actually accepts lightning? As it seems like Bitwage doesn't yet. While it seems to be pretty much the same business structure in an outsider's perspective, I give huge credit to services that goes and accepts LN.
7477  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: NFL have their first player played in bitcoin on: December 30, 2020, 03:31:49 PM
Actually, it's a totally misleading title.
He is not paid in BTC he is paid in fiat and he uses that fiat to convert it into BTC like a lot of us do, receive fiat in your bank account and use that fiat to buy coins when you want. The only thing he did that is different is that he sent directly half of his wage to this strat-up via a direct deposit, nothing spectacular, Bitwage has been doing this for ages.

I don't disagree that it was misleading, but I don't think it worked as you described. Assuming that the description in this[1] article is accurate, the process was:

Panthers -> fiat converts to BTC through Strike/Zap -> Okung

rather than

Panthers -> Okung -> *buys bitcoin*

Again, I agree that it's misleading. But it's not like he just received fiat straight off and just manually bought the coins himself through a typical spot exchange. Also, technically, wasn't he paid in bitcoin? It's just that he was paid bitcoin by Strike/Zap because of the conversion and not necessarily by the Panthers.

Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong though.

7478  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: NFL have their first player played in bitcoin on: December 30, 2020, 02:32:02 PM
Unfortunately he’s not being paid in Bitcoin, he’s just converting some of his US dollar salary into Bitcoin. He may well be promoting Zap ?

https://www.theverge.com/2020/12/29/22205181/nfl-russell-okung-not-paid-bitcoin-debunk-carolina-panthers-cryptocurrency

Even though the news isn’t quite correct , it is great news. Any high profile person promoting Bitcoin has got to be a positive thing  Smiley

Yea technically the money was converted automatically to BTC through Zap without Russel nor the other party needing to do anything(if I understand correctly). So yea, slightly misleading with the title, but hey, the other party sent fiat and Russel received bitcoin, and both parties got what they wanted/needed. Mission success.
7479  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: SEC Knocking on a projects door means the end? on: December 30, 2020, 12:13:55 PM
Thanks for the replies, I've read all comments but can't see many crypto project going out of business because of SEC, so why all the buzz about XRP going to die? Why all the 'finally it's over for XRP' ?
Not sure if I'd agree that XRP is actually going to die(because I don't know crap about these lawsuits), but I've read a few times on Twitter from people that are definitely a lot starter than I am that Ripple's case is far more dire than Kik's. They sure are getting a taste of their own medicine, and I sure hope the project dies completely.

Some even show hatred for this project,
Do quick research on Ripple and XRP, and I could almost guarantee you'd hate them too.

Jating said kik survived SEC battle, why won't XRP do same thing?
Kik survived, but did their KIN project? Yes technically it seems to be still being worked on, but it was already a huge hit to their reputation.
7480  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: SEC Knocking on a projects door means the end? on: December 30, 2020, 08:08:48 AM
It will completely depend on how the lawsuit will go, mostly. While these projects may or may not die, it just really shows how valuable a project being actually decentralized is. With most of these projects, the government just pursues the development team or company, and the project is automatically in heavy trouble. With Bitcoin though? Pfffft goodluck to them. 😂
