7481  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is a Game Changer for Cybercrime on: August 22, 2019, 01:21:53 PM
Cybercrime has been very evident even without bitcoin, and we've seen it grow into insane proportions right even before started to boom. It just so happened that bitcoin's model is complementary to that of the activities of these nefarious people causing some statistics for cybercrime in relation to bitcoin to rise up. Also, I don't think bitcoin per se is the primary reason as to why these crimes shot through the roof, and it's just plain wrong to assume just that IMO.
7482  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 22M btc transacted today on: August 22, 2019, 12:40:21 PM
This isn't "normal" in any way, though it's not impossible for things like this to happen due to the fact that bitcoin is designed to also do silly and inefficient things such as this. For one, we know that the miners benefited from the tossing and turning of the coins around the blockchain and apparently there doesn't seem to be any signs of affecting the network in general. This could be some large entities just wasting their money on fees or exchanges doing their routinely transfer of funds from different wallets/address.
7483  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Burn Satoshis coins to end the threat of prices crashing - Paxful Founder on: August 21, 2019, 02:36:29 PM
Burning these coins doesn't really solve the problem of price crashes at all. There are still whales which controls a huge amount of coins that can control the market at will even without satoshi's coins though, so it will be a totally worthless effort after all. Besides, even if the coins do exist, chances are there would be no one claiming them ever and will be left to rot in the void so what gives?
7484  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin currency stability on: August 21, 2019, 12:25:45 PM
Perhaps a few people would look into bitcoin though I don't think that at this point, people are that confident to trust most of their assets in a relatively unstable currency and use as a hedge on a devaluing fiat. Most people are still believing in the power of their government to turnaround whatever economic crisis are they experiencing right now and I don't think it'll be a different story any time soon. Bitcoin can also be a target of law enforcement should they find out that it is being used to evade economic sanctions, and we all know what would it be like once that happens.
7485  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Whales Every time change the market?? on: August 21, 2019, 10:33:36 AM
Profits that you are looking for, perhaps are those with insane amounts of return from the initial bankroll you have had, which to me is no problem but sometimes unachievable due to people being greedy. A 10% profit from your initial bankroll is already a huge gain in my books, and I see no reason why would anyone not take those. You don't need to time the markets and get the maximum profit possible from your bankroll, you just have to take profits whenever you feel like it and wait for the next run and that's it.
7486  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: won`t all the miners join the same pool? or 1 pool become bigger than the rest? on: August 21, 2019, 09:12:30 AM
Larger pools with lots of miners in them would need to split the bounty entirely on those huge numbers, meaning that even if you get all those blocks, chances are your rewards would also lessen compared to when there are individual miners taking a chance on the pot with fewer members to split the shares. Theoretically when block reward only relies on tx fees, pooling up all the miners in a single entity is fine, however again the constant struggle between shares would always be there, and knowing that 'luck' is a factor in bitcoin mining, sizable mining farms would likely just split up and hash on their own than joining that one giant pool and just hope that luck plays out a good spell on their ventures.
7487  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Biggest Austrian Telecommunication Provider Now Accepts Bitcoin Payments on: August 21, 2019, 04:02:10 AM
A1 has been doing a lot of good things lately and had been in the limelight for crypto developments. and it's kinda new for me to hear that an Austrian company is really getting it out in the open for crypto adoption. Some other countries' telecoms companies are already in the brink of doing the same move in accepting crypto for payments, but this is the first that I hear something from Austria. It's a gamble, and perhaps a bit of a PR move as well.
7488  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How people fund their Sportsbooks on: August 21, 2019, 02:25:11 AM
I'm kinda supporting the idea of a privately-funded sports book more than a bookie that relies their funds on their own issued tokens. It's not that the business model of the latter isn't good, it's just that I don't find it stable in the long run. It's more of a way of circumventing regulations in ICO or whatever coin offerings/token offerings are there in the form of a sports book, which IMO is kinda off. But yeah, if a sports book decides to open its doors for investors, that IMO is a good indication that they will stay and will accept public cooperation for the long term and would probably be around for quite some time.
7489  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Beauty Contest Gambling on: August 20, 2019, 03:51:23 PM
This is kinda tricky if one does not know how pageants work or who to root for. These pageants may have some favorite beauties to win although for the most part, it still as random as it can get. Heck, I might just consider betting on Chili Hotdog Eating contest and other crazy stuff that appears on some bookies rather than a beauty pageant which I'm not very fond of.
7490  Other / Meta / Re: Extension for Bitcointalk ? Do you want it ? on: August 20, 2019, 03:03:10 PM
For me, I'd rather have an extension for all websites, rather than just one.

Besides, once Bitcointalk relaunches with a new theme, the current one might be redundant.

For people who are eagerly waiting for the said themes to launch for quite some time now, I guess this extension is for them.  The current looks of the forum seems good to me and is also quite a bit nostalgic, and perhaps an extension to change the appearance of the forum isn't just for me. So long as there are no malware and hidden code that will steal information or snoop on what other users are doing, I don't see this any reason why some users won't support this idea.
7491  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sports betting: Possible to capitalize on shifting lines? on: August 20, 2019, 01:54:50 AM
I have to agree with Darkstar's comment regarding the matter. Line shifts closer to the event are often the most accurate it can get, as initial lines posted are only aggregates of the team's possible performance based on their last matchups, or H2H for that matter. That's why I don't usually bet hours before the game is played, instead I wait before there's only 30 minutes left then I make my decisions based on line shifts/movements from the original lines. Of course, if a team is performing better compared to the favorites/underdogs/whatever, I'll take that line regardless of line movement.
7492  Economy / Economics / Re: Hong Kong Activist Leader Calls For A Run On Chinese Banks Tomorrow (Friday) on: August 19, 2019, 06:02:11 PM
The situation in Hong Kong is getting worse every day, though I doubt that this plan for the banks would seriously make a dent on the unrelenting stubbornness of the Chinese officials for the welfare of the Hong Kong activists. Idk why the issue on the said state isn't that much reported in major news outlets all over the world but seriously, HK protests are slowly mirroring the events that lead to the Tiananmen Square massacre. I just hope that it does not end like that.
7493  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Are you guys started to gambling with cryptos or fiat money? on: August 19, 2019, 05:39:54 PM
Simple carnival games is where I started gambling, and that's obviously in fiat way way back. My gambling habits became prominent only when crypto was available and online gambling has been illegal in my country. Usually crypto gambling doesn't require KYC. All you need to do is deposit and play your game and you're good. For fiat gambling, you need to go through all the hoops and those troubles before setting on a game that you really wanted, and they're getting stricter day by day too.
7494  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The secret of gambling? on: August 19, 2019, 04:04:24 PM
There is no literal secret to gambling IMO as they are, at most associated with luck for the most part. Perhaps you may have found some betting strategies that worked for you to get a green streak for a day, but there are no guarantees that you will be getting the same roll of luck tomorrow or the other days. It's a hit or miss, alongside an insane amount of luck as well. Perhaps there are some people that are extremely lucky to be always winning, but I guarantee you that there are also a lot of them who are broke to the core at some point and just managed to win that one jackpot that everyone is looking for.
7495  Economy / Services / Re: [Open] Yobit Signature Campaign / Sr. Member- Legendary on: August 16, 2019, 08:28:11 PM
It's funny how Yobit have their support handle in this forum but in their platform, no customer support is ever really present.

Willing to rent out my signature space, avatar and/or personal text. I usually do 30-60 posts/week on various boards.

I may reject some offers, including but not limited to:

  • A personal propaganda towards something/someone in this forum (hate campaign).
  • Obvious HYIP services.
  • Other potentially scam services.

Kindly send me a message and we'll work something out.
7498  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: New Zealand Gives Greenlight for Cryptocurrency Income and Salary Payments on: August 16, 2019, 02:42:18 PM
What a bummer if they are only forced to use stablecoins for payments. It would be best if people would be able to ask what form of salary/pay can they accept and let the government allow it by giving the companies freedom to do so. But then again, I guess we're far off from that, as the volatility of crypto would make it hard for filing taxes and whatnot, and knowing how fast 1 BTC's value drops or increases, it's just not suitable for companies that need to stick with their budget IMO.

Thank you, Wolf.bet and Zwei! Will be waiting for the next campaign and I hope we have helped you get the word out somehow.
7500  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Sell Now - Buy Again @ $10500 on: August 13, 2019, 06:29:24 PM
Sold @ $11300 and right now I'm waiting to see whether we can touch $10500 again before I pull the trigger and buy some more. Perhaps the coins that I will snatch after the quick dip would be in the haul for the long term since short-term price movements are still range bound and seems to be not breaching $12000 any time sooner. A good advice indeed, since a profit is already made @ $11k region and this opportunity right here is pretty rare, considering how price stayed in the upper $11000 before stepping down to high $10k levels again.
