Bitcoin collapsing. God UP.
No, you're wrong. GOD! Oops, God is always UP. Gold is another story. Depends on which god you worship. I imagine the Gold God would always be down in the earth making more gold? Bitcoin is God? or is it Satoshi? ![Grin](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/grin.gif)

That was good. That was really good.
My respect for Armstrong just went up a notch.

Given the US stiffed Germany out of its gold, I could see this.
|
|

wow, a USD exchange based out of Singapore.
that's sounds promising. what jurisdiction does the US gov't have there?
|
|
|
certainly there is some value to what you say.
however, i think it's more than that. i think what resonates most with Bitcoiners is that it's a provably fair system. unlike with the Fed, who you never know how they are going to manipulate the system next. these moves are only known by a small insider group who can play the taper/untaper game to their own advantage.
this corruption is what drives the Bitcoin price primarily IMO.

but by having bitcoin-qt on your computer you're a node as well right?
only if you open port 8333 and establish >8 connections. how do i open port 8333, i connect to internet via wireless and cannot directly connect via ethernet as it is my landlords wireless network... help please, your landlord is unlikely to give you the password to his router so you probably won't be able to run a full node off your computer. this is another reason some of us are choosing to use vps.

To the extent that Bitcoin takes the role of gold, we have this to look forward to: ![](https://ip.bitcointalk.org/?u=http%3A%2F%2Fify.valuewalk.com%2Fwp-content%2Fuploads%2F2013%2F12%2FGold-debt.png&t=663&c=nfKl8tYARUWcwA) How will we know when bitcoin is an asset class? When cryptocurrency gets mentioned in the BASEL Accords. Proper price of gold currently: around 1600. Proper price of bitcoin? A lot more... that's a very crude attempt at a correlation. and potentially very misleading.

Yes, but if they did, the USD would be in deep shit.

good for them.
they deserve to start making some money.

We don't really need more nodes, maybe ONLY IN third world countries acting like a cdn Don't waste your money
this isn't true. don't make me go find the link from Gavin and the other devs about this. as the pools get larger and more centralized, these individual nodes help counter balance this. there have been many graphs posted showing the #full nodes dropping over time as a result of this effect.

lots of hubris oozing from this "expert".
just ban all marketing 'eh? like "we can do whatever the hell we want to do". really? we're not talking about money laundering here, nor child pornography. the fact that the Silk Road takedown did exactly the opposite to the price of Bitcoin of that predicted by these experts says it all. ppl are moving into Bitcoin for very different reasons, namely store of value and its future potential as a free, non-manipulated currency.
if the gov't tries to do something unreasonable or overbearing to Bitcoin, there will be a backlash with much unintended consequence. i can assure you of that.

I think that if the SEC were to approve it, bitcoin prices would more than double. Wow, how nice it would be to have insider information on when/if they will improve. One could make a killing on bitcoins in just a day.
you don't need to know precisely when. now's the time to make your move.

i use vim to edit files, so if you don't have it: sudo apt-get install vim. or use whatever file editor you like in linux. cd ~/.bitcoin vim bitcoin.conf
hit i in vim to insert, go down to line connections=40 and change it to 80 hit esc type :wq to save restart bitcoind I'm not sure how well that would work on those 512 ram VPS in that reddit post though. I was using a 512 ram one and it was slow, so upgraded to 1GB ram. cat /proc/meminfo MemTotal: 1019600 kB MemFree: 71772 kB
make/made it 100!!!

That script is what I used, and damn it was awesome! Made it very fast to set up! Feels very good! ![Grin](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/grin.gif) I modified the max connections though to 80 instead of 40. ![](https://ip.bitcointalk.org/?u=https%3A%2F%2Fi.imgur.com%2FFovWBVc.png&t=663&c=o-Blbu5V2uAH1g) I'm surprised how many old nodes there are out there. Update people! bitcoind getpeerinfo|grep subver|sort|uniq -c|sort -n 1 "subver" : "/BitCoinJ:0.10.1/MultiBit:0.5.14/", 1 "subver" : "/BitCoinJ:0.10.3/Bitcoin Wallet:3.28/", 1 "subver" : "/Satoshi:0.8.0/", 1 "subver" : "/Satoshi:0.8.2.2/", 1 "subver" : "/Satoshi:0.8.4/Eligius:3/", 1 "subver" : "/Snoopy:0.1/", 2 "subver" : "", 2 "subver" : "/Satoshi:0.8.3/", 2 "subver" : "/Satoshi:0.8.99/", 6 "subver" : "/Satoshi:0.8.1/", 16 "subver" : "/Satoshi:0.8.6/", 27 "subver" : "/Satoshi:0.8.5/",
command please to increase connections to 80? ![Grin](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/grin.gif)
