7481  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Realization of bitcoin as a currency, killed it in India! You all killed it! on: August 09, 2019, 04:29:27 AM
So far, this is the most ironic post on this forum.

Bitcoin ==> Decentralized, anonymous, transparent, peer-to-peer, electronic cash, fully owned by users, freedom, with appreciating value, etc.

Central Banks ==> Centralized, paper bills and metal coins, owned by the state, value determined by the central bank, with powerful third-party players, depreciating in value, bound by rules of the state, etc.

Therefore, Bitcoin =/= Central Banks!

How could we then promote Bitcoin to its truest sense at the same time please the central banks and the governments? In the first place, Bitcoin was never made for them, it was made for the people. It was not made to support the central powers, it was made to give freedom to the people. It was not made to make these central bodies stronger, it was made precisely to dismantle them. It was not made to preserve the status quo and keep the system intact, it was made to disrupt the system.
7482  Local / Pilipinas / Re: Pinoy takot paren sa crypto-investing? on: August 09, 2019, 03:49:30 AM

Ang daming mga news and issues about dito and branded ang online business as something na scam or fake.

Before I started investing into cryptocurrencies, one of my closest friend suggested and showed to me his earnings throughout the year. Nagulat ako na sa kanyang capacity as a student, may ganoong siyang kalaking pera sa loob ng coins.ph niya. Dahil dito, nag-spark curiosity ko at nag-simula na ako sa forum approximately 2 years.

Hindi talaga natin mapipilit na mag-invest or mag-try sila about dito but we can always try. Show concrete proof (i.e. earnings, trends, data, etc.) para mas lalong ma-convince sila.
Pag pinoy talaga segurisya yan, they need the proof before sila mag invest kaya minsan nasisilaw sila sa mga pinapakita sa kanila and that’s why naiiscam sila.

May ugali tayong ganyan eh.
7483  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Bounty Managers do not Determine the Legitimacy of a Cryptocurrency Project on: August 09, 2019, 03:27:29 AM
This is true to a certain extent. But as far as my observations are concerned, there are campaign managers who are more meticulous in choosing their projects, so that they have never been or very seldom linked to a project that ends up a scam or a failure. They are very much unlike the majority of the campaign managers who just accept offers left and right without even spending a little time or lifting a finger to try to know the real score of the project. For as long as they are paid, they will go ahead. So somehow, a certain campaign manager could give us a little idea whether the project is legit or not. But it is not everything.
7484  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will Bitcoin mixers be considered illegal by worldwide governments? on: August 09, 2019, 02:52:52 AM
I have just read a very timely article about how Binance hackers tried to launder a total of 4,836 BTC using Chipmixer.  (https://www.bitcoininsider.org/article/73259/binance-hackers-bombard-chipmixer-launder-least-4836-btc)

There have been similar cases in the past whereby a tumbler is the best option for the criminal's footprints to arrive at a dead end. If this will become the pattern and tumblers simply become a notorious haven for criminals to get away from the government agencies tracking down on their crimes, I bet the government will have to also bring down all these tumblers. But I doubt if it will end this kind of service. Perhaps the best option for these tumblers is to go underground. There will always be patrons for this.
7485  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Longest Winning Streak in a Dice Game on: August 08, 2019, 02:30:14 PM
My record has finally been broken today!

I have made 9 consecutive wins in my rolls today! I am already amazed even though I have very low bets.

But I am curious about your records. How many consecutive wins have you made in a dice game?

By the way, more often than not I bet on a 50% winning chance.

Were all of you bets on a 50% win chance?

According to my calculations you had a 0.1953125% chance of winning 9 rolls in a row, which is a equivalent to roughly 1:500 chance excluding the house edge.

If you had bet your winning every time, and started with $10, you would now have $5,120. But if you maintained $10, then you'd have $90  Wink

Let's see some screenshots!

You guys made me feel obliged to show some proof. Why? Is this something really unbelievable? I have much longer losing streaks actually. Does anyone want to see some screenshots?  Grin

Again, my ecstatic joy was not because I made a huge money out of this streak. I haven't. I haven't even made $90 after this streak. My bets were insignificant, to be honest. I was just so happy that I made a long streak, which seemed impossible to me at first. It then got me curious as to the other rollers' longest green streaks.

Anyway, here are the screenshots ya'll are looking for. It took me some effort to cover my very little bets. LOL!  Grin

And wow! I've just realized that I've actually made 13 green streaks all in all! That is, if I include my rolls 6 hours prior.

Edit: I only complied because we've got the same first name.  Grin
7486  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: "We love you Bitcoin" - Jack Dorsey ( Twitter Founder) on: August 08, 2019, 12:37:11 PM
Jack Dorsey has been a fan of Bitcoin. This pronouncement may not significantly affect the price of Bitcoin but this will at least add to the growing roster of influential personalities who are explicitly expressing their support of Bitcoin. Twitter is one of the largest social media out there. It has millions of users around the globe. This pronouncement of the owner of Twitter will definitely create ripples.
7487  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Will you buy lottery online in bitcoin payment? on: August 08, 2019, 10:58:29 AM
Everything will all boil down to how much? I will have to take off from there, weighing on whether it is all worth it or just a waste of my BTC. I sometimes bet on lottery combinations outside crypto. It's because every combination is so cheap and yet the jackpot prize is so huge. There are times when each combination would only cost me cents while the winning prize is in millions. That's definitely worth the try. If this is how this lottery of yours goes, I don't mind shelling out some sats for it.
7488  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How many of you are still here for the longterm ? on: August 08, 2019, 10:36:23 AM
I have been around here for quite a while already. And despite all the dumps and losses and bad days in this world of cryptocurrency, I remain very positive about its longer future. And so there's no reason why after a few years of rise and fall in this wild wild west I just quit and give up. There was sure a lot of fun in all those years. And there will be more in the years to come. In spite of all the bear and bull cycles and seasons, crypto is here to dominate in the long run.

7490  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Projects with Real Working Product care less about bullrun on: August 08, 2019, 10:09:13 AM
Unfortunately, a lot of crypto projects are seeking the support of investors even before a working product is released. If you notice the ICO or IEO or STO or whatever, most of them are only offering a paper to their potential investors. They are basically selling a solution to a real-world problem. This solution is by way of their product, which at this particular stage is still all in the mind. And the reason why they are courting investors is precisely to fund the realization of their product. So everything appears smooth, if only the product is indeed released after the funds are collected, according to the promised schedule indicated in their road map. This is the crucial part. Unfortunately, this is also where a lot of projects failed.

7491  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Serious question about Bitcoin. Is it a reliable and stable investment? on: August 08, 2019, 09:36:07 AM
Of course, you may suggest Bitcoin to your friend. But do not ever forget to emphasize the need to learn more about it first before finally deciding to invest. In fact, suggest Bitcoin to your friend not to invest on it right away but to study it first. Let him decide later on after knowing enough of what Bitcoin is, the advantages and disadvantages of investing into it, as well as the possibilities in terms of the rise and fall of its price. Also, it is best to retain the IRA investment. Diversity of investments is always the best way to go.
7492  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is future really bitcoin?> on: August 08, 2019, 08:41:26 AM
Bitcoin is developing. It is not stagnant at all. And the technologies affecting Bitcoin are also developing. The speed of transactions are being efficiently addressed. The Lightning Network is the step by which the concerns about speed is given solution to. As regards energy consumption, various steps are also done in order to put into the picture the use of renewable energy. Many of these have already materialized.

This brand new member above me has sufficiently answered your questions and concerns.

  • 1. Bitcoin is moving forward, not stagnant at all.
  • 2. The Bitcoin mining energy issue for me is blown out of proportion. But it is being addressed just the same.
  • 3. Decentralization =/= Stagnation.
  • 4. Bitcoin is the "main one" because it is the father of everything, the prime mover. And it is not in any way threatened by any single altcoin or even all of them combined.
  • 5. There is still a team behind Bitcoin, responsible for seeing to it that everything runs smoothly.

Welcome to trading, by the way. Keep safe, avoid getting emotional, and good luck!

I don't think they need to secure license from the BSP if that's the case. They are just promoting their platform here in our local. Ginoogle translate lang yata ito into Filipino.

If you take a look at their previous posts, they are posting the same yet translated content in various local sections such as Russian, Portuguese, German, and Spanish.
7494  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Live long and prosper on: August 08, 2019, 08:00:01 AM
In 1999 PayPal was invented. Until then there was no commerce, there was no goods production in the world. Immediately the world economy started to improve. People started to produce TVs, phones, clothes, homes. But there were no sufficient money to buy these goods.

Then in 2010 a very gentle person (a very good mathematician Satoshi Nakamoto) invented the bitcoin. Bitcoin was that money necessary for every person in this world to buy those goods.

Until 1999 I was earning approx 30 USD/month working 8 hours/day. Then in 2010 because Satoshi Nakamoto invented the bitcoin, my earnings started to improve. I have 7 phones, 7 TVs, etc  (this is no joke).

Thanks for sharing this great experience of yours with Bitcoin. I hope this sends out encouragement to others. A couple of things, though:

1. Consumerism arrived much earlier than Bitcoin. I know that you know what consumerism means. Your 7 phones, 7 TVs, and what have you may be a good manifestation of which.

2. There is no logic in saying this: A.) Before, there were so many goods but no money to buy them. B.) Bitcoin came very timely and these goods could now be bought. C.) Thanks for the coming of Bitcoin, "my earnings started to improve."
7495  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How often do you check crypto prices? on: August 08, 2019, 04:29:17 AM
I hate to say it but I do the checking every hour of the day, at least when I'm at home, and awake of course. The good thing when I'm not at home is that my mind can have a little rest from all these price monitoring, changing of orders, and reading of news about crypto. But still I simply can't take everything off my mind. I guess I'm a little bit addicted to this already, just like the rest apparently.
7496  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BTC and Gold? on: August 08, 2019, 03:51:52 AM
Interesting article that talks about BTC vs Gold: https://cryptotradernews.com/cryptocurrency/is-bitcoin-the-new-gold/

Thoughts? Gold is tangible and can be used for other things other than storing value... It's also been around for a much longer time...

Bitcoin may not be tangible but it could also be used in some other things aside from just a storage of value. It is primarily a currency, after all. The good thing about Bitcoin is that its value is appreciating faster than gold and other assets. The argument against it however is that Bitcoin is much unlike gold in that it does not have any tangible object which represents it. As other analysts would have it, Bitcoin does not have any intrinsic value. It does not represent anything in the physical world. But who cares about the physical object? The gold that we are also buying and selling right now are but nothing but numbers also, unless one is actually buying golden jewelries and gold bars.
7497  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Best solution to handle gambling addition, in a country. on: August 08, 2019, 03:22:48 AM
Considering the gambling addiction ratio in a country is increasing rapidly, what are the best possible solutions the citizens or government of that nation can implement to deal with the problem. Before you jump right into suggesting, the government should ban/tag gambling related activities as illegal in the country, you should understand that running away from a problem don't actually solve that problem. Beside proposing a ban on gambling only encourages the citizens of that nation to gamble illegally.
Anyway, I think banning the online gambling will help for a certain country to regulate the gambling addiction of the citizen. Well, it could be a possible 100 percent zero-gambling rate.

A ban on gambling will never make any country gambling-free. I am quite sure of it. It will only make gambling illegal, but still present. Not a great step for me. People who would like to gamble will always find a way.

I am a little confused with your response. Banning online gambling will result to possibly 100 percent zero-gambling rate? What about the so many gambling games that are not offered online? Gambling is not only offered online, right? We have physical casinos and gambling bars everywhere. What about them? Moreover, there are so many kinds of physical gambling games outside casinos such as horse race, lotteries, and so on.

Regulations are much better than blanket ban on gambling if you truly want to curb gambling addiction.
7498  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Longest Winning Streak in a Dice Game on: August 08, 2019, 02:12:41 AM
Wooah, for real? Your lucky then, before when I was still playing dice my winning streak in between 2-3 wins, honestly I got more loss than winning because for me dice is still about luck no matter what you do, you can’t win more.

Yeah, especially if you are rolling on a 50% chance. Someone is actually asking for a video or a photo about my winning streak. Sad that I haven't documented it that way. It was funny though, because anybody playing dice knows that winning streaks even longer than mine exist. Somebody here admitted reaching up to 15 consecutive wins, and mentioned of a primedice winning streak that went beyond 20.

As a matter of fact, such streak is not really that amazing at all if we also consider our losing streaks. Mine is more than 9. It's just that it was my first time winning that long and I was a bit overjoyed that I made this thread getting curious as to other dice players' experiences. Although same as you, I also got more losses than wins.
7499  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Anthony Pompliano holds 50% of Net Worth In Bitcoin on: August 07, 2019, 03:08:17 PM
On Aug 6th, Founder of the capital management firm Morgan Creek Antony Pompliano during an interview O’Leary asked Pomp how much he had invested in Bitcoin, Pomp responded that 50% of his net worth is in Bitcoin.

Will you believe in investing 50% on bitcoin?

Pomp is a guy who truly believes in Bitcoin. The man is simply putting his money where his mouth is. He shows intense passion in Bitcoin but stops short in being too aggressive to the point of appearing disagreeable. I like the way he remains calm and composed all the time in the midst of various tirades against Bitcoin.

Investing at least 50% in Bitcoin is happening to me right now. Let us be clear on it though, I am talking about investment; I am not talking about my net worth. For sure, I wouldn't put half of my little net worth in Bitcoin. That sounds very difficult in my situation right now. But in terms of my investment, Bitcoin holds at least 50% dominance. The rest are diversified not just within crypto but also somewhere else.
