7501  Other / Meta / Re: Where can I find signature campaigns ? on: September 23, 2021, 09:12:52 AM
There's a complete list of them here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=615953.0
I wouldn't use that as a reference though when looking for a signature campaign. Although it's a great reference, OP can't update that list fast enough and sometimes it takes just a day or two for a particular campaign to select a new participant. The best thing to do is to keep a regular eye on the Services board to stay informed about any changes.

Aside from what was mentioned above, there are also SCs in Bounties section in under Alternate Cryptocurrencies. I would just be wary of choosing one though if I were you.
I wouldn't recommend joining a signature campaign of a brand-new and unlisted token. The Pharmacist explained why here. But if OP is interested in altcoins, he could try and join a campaign of a coin/token that is already listed on exchanges and has a somewhat respectable trading volume. Those are hard to find, but he might be lucky. libert19 wears a signature of one such project - Digital Gold. Maybe there are more in the bounties board.
7502  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: [CHARTS]Yearly, Monthly & Weekly Overview Of The Unofficial Nigeria Local Board on: September 23, 2021, 08:51:36 AM
It's true that they are minority, but some of the most active members of Croatian boards are from Serbia and I think that both them and Croatian board are benefiting from them being active there, despite the fact that they can't really talk much about crypto stuff that is going on in Serbia (at least not open specific topics about it).
I don't think anyone would mind that they open threads discussing the Serbian crypto movement. I would be interested in knowing what's happening in neighboring countries. And like you pointed out, the more quality discussions there are, the better the local board will be. It's also a question of how many are indeed interested in writing in the Croatian local. Some members from Serbia surely are, but not everyone.

I also remember that someone introduced a Bosnian crypto site a few years ago. But that thread got buried quickly for the same reasons. Lack of Bosnians and lack of interest by those Bosnians who are here.

This is getting a bit off-topic, so I will stop now.
7503  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin URI Protocol Scheme on: September 23, 2021, 08:39:43 AM
<Snip>
I wish I knew how to read that code, unfortunately, I don't.
The data android:scheme="bitcoin" part of it is the only thing that looks like it's pointing towards the wallet supporting the URI scheme. But I will take your word for it and put the Blockchain.com wallet back on the list.

Thanks for checking it out.
7504  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Sparrow Bitcoin Wallet on: September 22, 2021, 04:37:20 PM
I was able to create an Electrum wallet with legacy addresses, which I thought was impossible.  Thank you for that.
No problem, you are welcome. Although, it doesn't make much sense using legacy wallets and addresses nowadays, but I understand that you want the ability to create those if you wanted that. A significant number of crypto-related services should already be configured to recognize native segwit addresses, and if they don't, there is compatibility with nested segwit addresses in over 90% of the cases.
7505  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: How To Verify the Downloaded Version of Ledger Live on: September 22, 2021, 04:29:10 PM
Ledger has released version 2.33.1 of their Ledger Live software about a week ago.
This would be a good opportunity to verify the installation binaries and the SHA-512sum hashes if you have never done that before to learn something new maybe.
7506  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: [CHARTS]Yearly, Monthly & Weekly Overview Of The Unofficial Nigeria Local Board on: September 22, 2021, 04:14:21 PM
Both Croatians and Serbs speak and understand "Bosnia," it would make more sense to rename the local board to Bosnian local board to give the two countries equal rights; the Serbians will always be a minority on that board, and the topic of discussion is focused on what's going on in Croatia; bringing in a Serbia discussion will be seen as off-topic.
Bosnian is just another variation of the same language. It wouldn't make sense renaming the board as the Bosnian board because that doesn't incorporate a larger geographical area, it makes it smaller. Ex-Yu is a term used on many other forums and it includes most of the Balkan countries who speak different variations of the same language. It was once called Serbo-Croatian, now each country has its own (Serbian, Croatian, Bosnian).

We have one Spanish local instead of different boards for Castellano, Catalan, Basque, and the other dialects/languages.
The cities mentioned above are still part of Spain
Those are not cities. They are dialects/variants of the Spanish language spoken in different parts of Spain. Catalan in Barcelona, Basque in Bilbao, etc.

Anyways, my argument is that bringing in more people in a certain language group can only make that local better. I would never deny anyone the right to have their own local, but sometimes it just doesn't make sense. Do you think it's logical that we should have an Austrian board only for Austrians when we already have a German board where they can all hang out and speak the same language? Have you noticed how there are no local boards for South American countries? Why would there be when most of them speak Spanish (Brazilians speak Portuguese) and they can post, read, and write in those boards.
7507  Economy / Gambling / Re: [Table] Withdrawal Fees and Withdrawal Amounts on Crypto Casinos on: September 22, 2021, 03:56:58 PM
The reason I am posting: On my website, I have recently implemented geo-targeting and I am now thinking about how to properly make use of it.
Could you explain a little bit how your geo-targeting service is supposed to work and what it achieves? From the top of my head, I understand it as a way for the player to know which casinos he can and can't play at based on his geographical location. So, If I am from the US, for example, your system would signal to me that I can't play on any of the Curacao licensed establishments. Did I get it right?

What are your thoughts about this guys and what would you suggest in terms of my GEO-targeting? IE crypto casino with curacao license, "by default", would all have US players restricted, which means I would have to disable all curacao license crypto casinos for my US traffic, etc.
From my experience, countries such as USA, UK, France, and Netherlands are always restricted on casinos with a Curacao license, that's correct. However, there are other things to consider. Buff.bet, for example, used to be part of my list, but they scammed a user from Bitcointalk, so I removed them. They are licensed in Curacao, but their restrictions include other countries which are atypical for this license provider. Germany is one of those countries. The player that got scammed is from Germany and according to Buff.bet, Germany is one of the countries whose players they can't provide a service for. I don't think they ever explained why, and the only thing I do know is that their license provider (Curacao) has no restrictions towards German players.

Besides that, there is also the issue with games from particular gaming providers. Players from certain countries might be allowed to register and gamble at a casino, but they are not allowed to play casino games operated by providers A, B, C for example. It's really a messy situation.
7508  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Impact of underage gambling? on: September 22, 2021, 11:08:56 AM
There is no best age for kids to start gambling because children shouldn't gamble, period. it's like asking what is the perfect time for an underaged girl to start drinking and get pregnant. The childhood is supposed to be a period of growing up, maturing, and learning the ways of the world from your parents, teachers, and elders. Once you have grown and developed both mentally and physically, you should learn about things like gambling. At that time (hopefully), you will be able to make sound decisions. When you are a child, you don't know how to do that.
7509  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcointalk Youtube channel - what would you like to see? on: September 22, 2021, 10:59:08 AM
Who cares about dollar valuation of Bitcoin? Tongue
Everyone Grin
How do you determine the value of some goods or services you are interested in purchasing? You convert the fiat value to bitcoin. At least that's how most people do it. Maybe you prefer paying 10 BTC for everything you buy. Wink Usually when we hear things like 1 Bitcoin=1 Bitcoin, people only say that when it favors them. When it's time to spend that 1 Bitcoin, it's a completely different story.
7510  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: [CHARTS]Yearly, Monthly & Weekly Overview Of The Unofficial Nigeria Local Board on: September 22, 2021, 10:49:30 AM
I know what you say, some time ago I also took the initiative to get a local board for Serbian language members, but nothing happened.
Honestly, it would make more sense having the Serbians join the Croatian local board and make that one even better and stronger. Many are posting there anyways. It's basically the same language. I always wondered why the admins didn't opt for creating an Ex-Yu board, for example, instead of having a Croatian local and then a separate Serbian thread.

We have one Spanish local instead of different boards for Castellano, Catalan, Basque, and the other dialects/languages.
We have one German board instead of one for Germans and the other for Austrians.
We don't have a US or Australian local because they speak English.
7511  Other / Meta / Re: Top reporters on: September 22, 2021, 10:38:23 AM
Amazing numbers!
LeGaulois who is at the bottom of the list has 3 more good reports in the last year alone than I have overall. All I can say is congratulations to everyone who made it. I certainly can't commit to doing what you do in keeping the forum clean on a regular basis. The administration is lucky to have you onboard.
7512  Other / Meta / Re: [POLL] Top 5 boards deserve most merits on: September 22, 2021, 10:24:17 AM
I only voted for two sub-boards because I can't make up my mind how to rank the rest:

  • Development & Technical Discussion
  • Bitcoin Technical Support

These two boards are the places where you go when you have problems with Bitcoin and when you need advice. Everything else is of less importance if you ask me. The amount of technical knowledge displayed there is just crazy.

I would love to have been able to vote for Bitcoin Discussion as well, but due to the state of that section and the amount of spam it generates, it's sometimes hard to take it seriously. The Russian local should probably not be in the poll at all. If you aren't Russian, you aren't visiting that local board, so you don't know what is going on there. It's the same with all other local boards. If you don't speak the particular language, you don't belong there and you don't know the situation.
7513  Local / Altcoins (Hrvatski) / Re: Kako zaraditi novac prodajem NFT-a on: September 22, 2021, 09:54:20 AM

They survived both tests quite well. I wonder what would have happened if he continued with the heat test for a few more minutes. Some of the flat washers suffered visible damages. #8 and #16, for example. It should be mentioned that both of those flat washers got some of their clarity back after being soaked in salt water.
7515  Economy / Gambling / Re: planetofbets.bet Register and get Free bet ( bet with BTC , Cryptocurrency ) on: September 21, 2021, 12:19:40 PM
Crypto gambling sites asking for KYC on sign-up is very rare based on my experience...
It's not rare if the platform was previously a fiat-only type of casino. Bookmakers such as bet365, bwin, William Hill, and others who deal exclusively with fiat require that their customers provide all their details upon signing up. If one of them were to adapt crypto, that probably wouldn't change. The same thing happened here. At least, it's been proven that the site is not a phishing site of the original domain, but I would still not trust them with my KYC details. If they want to create a healthy userbase on this forum, the KYC requirement has to go.

Yes. Without having to look very hard, I have found another case of the same style:
Yeah, why am I not surprised Roll Eyes
It's easy to see why. He is just looking to produce posts as soon as possible as part of his signature campaign. He is also a social media bounty spammer.
Maybe the only merit he received was also one given to himself by an alt account. I haven't looked into it, but the username of the person who merited him is similar to his own. Ruvi2000sew and raji1995naya

It's just a hunch, + he got merited for a post like this:
Hello Team, Is there any update about Bounty reward distribution ? Its long time now

Unfortunately, you are out of luck.

ethicnology hasn't been around since July 2020. He wasn't very active even before that.
darosior is a more frequent poster, but he hasn't logged in since August either. You might have some more luck getting hold of him over Twitter. He is tweeting more frequently there. Alternatively, he also uses GitGub.

Best of luck!

I remember it used to give me a popup window saying "Electrum has stopped working."

Problem event name: APPCRASH
Fault module name: ig4dev64.dll
This is a problem on your end. You are probably using outdated drivers for your graphics cards or you are missing some essential Windows updates. Are you using Windows 7 btw? If so, Electrum requires Service Pack 1 and a few other KB installs.

According to search results, "ig4dev64.dll" and similar errors have to do with Intel Graphics cards. Again, check your Windows Updates and ensure everything is up-to-date, including driver updates for your GPU.

Plagiarism by Ruvi2000sew.

On September 08, I wrote this post:
Considering all the issues we have seen recently with their workers abusing internal databases and now creating malfunctioning devices, I am starting to think that Ledger isn't paying their workforce enough and this is the way they protest. It's either that or they are employing incompetent idiots who don't care about anything and just want to see the world burn.

Ruvi2000sew thought it would be a good idea to use a text spinner, change a few words, and post the modified post in the same thread as my reply:
Given the numerous incidents of its employees misusing internal databases and now manufacturing faulty devices, I'm beginning to believe that Ledger is underpaying their employees and this is how they protest. Either that, or they're employing inept jerks who don't give a damn about anything and only want to see the world burn.

I haven't checked, but I doubt this is the only instance he has done that with posts written by other forum members.
7520  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Ledger Nano X Battery Pandemic on: September 21, 2021, 08:43:23 AM
@Ruvi2000sew
Are you serious? You though it would be a good idea to try your text spinning and copy-pasting capabilities in the same thread where you got the post from? Your software failed at changing the last sentence - the one about the world burning.
