Your saying an established member won't get asked to fork out btc fee if he logs in via Tor? How certain are you of that?

I’m certain of that because I personally use Tor, and Bitcointalk doesn’t ask you to pay for anything once your account already has been registered. Again, like what I said in my previous response, the small fees for ‘evil IPs’ are only at registration.
7502  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Giving back 🎄 on: December 28, 2020, 07:53:23 AM
There should always be a charity place, but you shouldn't brag about it. As the Sermon on the Mount says: "When you do alms, let your left hand not know what your right is doing."

I agree. But I think some people are demonizing this a bit too much. There are people who somewhat ‘flaunt’ their good works by posting on social media. While some people might automatically think that people are doing good deeds just so they could post them on social media, I really have no problem with it as long as people are really getting help, and that hopefully some people would get sort of inspired to do the same.
7503  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Reading charts question. on: December 28, 2020, 07:27:35 AM
Remember: the larger the market cap, the more liquidity will be required to move the price to 20% to 40%

And also, the higher the marketcap(especially when talking about hundred billions), the lower the room for growth is. This is why the people who think that XRP will reach upwards of $589 are so ignorant to the fact that XRP would be in the high trillions for it to reach those prices which is obviously very very unrealistic.
7504  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: How to buy bitcoin anonymously without ID in Australia? on: December 28, 2020, 06:32:25 AM
Can you throw some names around of no-ID ATM companys in Au or links please?

Unfortunately I'm not(and never been) to Australia, though you can check out Coin ATM Radar[1]. Just lookup your address and look around your area and look for an ATM that doesn't require IDs.

You're only likely to get a problem(evil IP, would require you to pay a small amount to be able to register) only when registering an account using a VPN(especially when using a free one). But once your account is made? Zero problems. You can even use Bitcointalk through Tor if you want to, and is actually heavily recommended for privacy reasons.
7506  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: What are the predictions for Altecoin? on: December 28, 2020, 05:31:48 AM
Altcoins over-performing against bitcoin in a bull market isn't really anything new, and the charts clearly shows that. It's just that picking your entry and exit points can be a bit tough.

As for ATHs for most altcoins though? While I wouldn't be surprised if they reach new ATHs, I wouldn't bet on it either as a lot of these altcoins are still really really far from their 2017 peaks.
7507  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: How to buy bitcoin anonymously without ID in Australia? on: December 28, 2020, 05:23:31 AM
The most anonymous way is doing the trade face to face with other bitcoiners and with cash.

If you want to maximize anonymity, it's either this or using a no-ID bitcoin ATM while using a round-brim baseball hat, some shades, and a face mask.

On the other hand, if you just want enough anonymity in a way that you just don't need to submit AML/KYC and that you're fine with the other person knowing a bit about you(because of course you gotta give him/her your bank number, PayPal email, or something similar), then using peer-to-peer services like HodlHodl[1] and Bisq[2] are great options.

Is that the tweet that he pretty much repeatedly posts every time there's a significant price rise with bitcoin? lmao. Historically it was quite a decent indicator for a price top.

With that said, I do agree with everything though. Such advice have been pretty much said a thousand times already but yet people fall for these traps due to greed.

7510  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Do you think that planned pump and dump is ethically acceptable? on: December 28, 2020, 04:01:13 AM
Quite an easy yes in my opinion. In most cases, especially with the typical _ʌ_ chart of crypto pnds, it's just the sort of "group leader" and a minority of other members are the ones that end up making money, while the other majority are left underwater holding a worthless bag of assets. Though I guess it also depends on how the pnd is advertised.
7511  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: With kyc i get better coins ?? Like usdt ? on: December 28, 2020, 03:55:49 AM
Is there any guarantee after doing KYC we will get the token? is it safe to hand over our personal data information to them?
I have always disagreed with the mandatory rules of doing KYC to obtain tokens because it can harm us in the future,, unless we do so on certain markets to sell and buy tokens,, trading platforms for example

If we're going to make the assumption that ALL of these services will get breached some time in the future, then of course the answer is no. Hence why it's heavily recommended to submit AML/KYC to services only at the bare minimum, pretty much just when really really necessary(banking, health-related, etc).
7512  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Giving back 🎄 on: December 27, 2020, 05:50:46 AM
The reason why I am not much of a fan of charities and NGOs and whatnots is that we are sometimes adding a layer where it is not necessary at all. Not passing judgement on people who are fond of donating to charities. That's good and needed as well as there are also areas where the only help that arrives are those which come from NGOs and other charitable organizations.

I'm just pointing out, however, that oftentimes looking after our own neighbors, families, and relatives is enough. I mean, take a look at your own backyard and most probably there is someone who needs a little help. Your Sats would certainly be much appreciated.

True, I'd mostly prefer giving straight to locals too. But then again, you mostly have no choice but to donate to charities if you want to help fund a specific cause. Perfect example would be The Water Project— it would be really really illogical to head over to the suburbs of Africa just to help with like $50 lol.
7513  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Long-Term HODL With No Strategy Needs Some Guidance on: December 27, 2020, 04:06:45 AM
Unfortunately, I don't think you're going to find actual expert traders that's going to show their trades and strategies to you just because. Exposing certain trading strategies to the public can possibly render them useless.

Seriously though, I know this is a trading section so it's pretty stupid for me to just say "don't trade", but if you're bullish on bitcoin in the long-term, you might want to consider doing dollar-cost averaging and just holding long term. Focus on earning income outside crypto instead so you can stack more sats. On the other hand, if you want to continue trading, I wish you the best.

7514  Economy / Speculation / Re: I doubt Bitcoin will dip below 20k again on: December 27, 2020, 03:32:11 AM
I agree that due to the reason that there's significant money from institutional investors, that a drop in price would most likely be less dramatic as what we had in 2017-2018 simply due to them being less likely to be affected by FUD and panic(compared to most of retail investors). But still, to go below 20k all we need is a 30% drop, which is always always possible.
7515  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Giving back 🎄 on: December 27, 2020, 03:28:51 AM

. . cut. . .

And yea, if you're not well-off yourself, you can always donate even just a few dollars or so(or give out a meal to a single homeless man/woman). Every single help counts!

 . .

It is the thought that counts, . .

well, the taste of the food also counts.

 Grin

Hah. And there's a reason why I specifically used "Every single help counts" and decided against the "thought" variant. Tongue
7516  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: BitcoinHosting.ro - Huge list of Bitcoin-friendly VPS Hosting providers on: December 26, 2020, 04:32:51 PM
Have you posted this link here on Bitcointalk in the past? I think I've already seen this(or something really really similar, huge list with basic html, etc) here on Bitcointalk before.

Great list though, my personal pick has always been Vultr + Namecheap.
7517  Economy / Speculation / Re: All in the name of money making on: December 26, 2020, 04:13:56 PM
Well, this is the exact reason why a lot of people(including me) are advocating for bitcoin only(and probably just a very small minority to gamble with alts), because in the long term, most alts, especially the smaller caps, ended up imploding or the hype simply dies down sometime along the way; whereas bitcoin is still the almost surefire going-to-rise-in-price-in-the-long-term pick.

I've made a lot of shitty mid-long term altcoin investments in the past too, whereas I could have a significantly bigger BTC stack right now if I simply just held.
7518  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: New ATH, New ATH, New ATH on: December 26, 2020, 04:03:48 PM
Exactly. Those who have targeted stacking 1 full Bitcoin or whichever amount they are aiming for would see that target running farther away from them. However, considering the full picture, it may not really seem so. Bitcoiners at $300 and $600 and $1000 would have felt the price was running away and it was getting too expensive, but looking at the broad charts, it was relatively very cheap then, We are also still early adopters (if that's any consolation). Looking back at the current price 5-10 years from now, it would likely look relatively cheap and stacking up would have become a lot more harder by then.

True. I guess if we're making the assumption that bitcoin will reach upwards of $100,000 it really wouldn't matter that we're buying at $25,000. Still though, quite sad seeing the bitcoin purchase amount decimal point slowly but surely moving to the right.. 😬
7519  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: New ATH, New ATH, New ATH on: December 26, 2020, 03:26:43 PM
It's a bittersweet feeling. Yes, having my net worth grow is really really great, but the downside is that we're getting less and less BTC for every dollar/peso purchase lol. But whatever, I continue stacking regardless because I think we could definitely go significantly higher this cycle. Tongue

Also, speaking of ATH, shameless plug.. Topic: Giving back 🎄
7520  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Giving back 🎄 on: December 26, 2020, 03:21:36 PM
First of all, Merry Christmas! And congratulations to all of us for the all-time highs($25,400 as I'm typing this out). If you've held through the gruelling bear market of 2018-2019, you a champ. 👏

Now, with that said, also with the spirit of Christmas, let's not forget to hand out a bit of help out to those in need. Especially for those here that are really well-off and wealthy in life. But not only them, also for some of us here that aren't really wealthy, but living decently enough.

Here are some of my personal picks for this month, and short reasons why:

1. The Water Project (https://thewaterproject.org/donate-bitcoin) - a very basic need of a person, and most of us here are probably taking it for granted. But yet, a lot of people in other countries(in sub-Saharan Africa, in this case) are having trouble gaining access to this very basic need.

2. Human Rights Foundation (https://hrf.org/donate-bitcoin/) - They fight for human rights. Need I say more? Alex Gladstein is an avid Bitcoiner too! For this month, I'd prefer the other 2 options though.

3. Your local community - yep, doesn't need to be an online donation and it definitely doesn't need to be bitcoin. Head over to local charities and relief centers, or probably something as simple as handing out some food/water to the homeless. No need to be fancy!

And yea, if you're not well-off yourself, you can always donate even just a few dollars or so(or give out a meal to a single homeless man/woman). Every single help counts!

Finally, wish all of you enjoy the rest of the remaining days of 2020, and may you all stack more sats in 2021.
