100 Satoshis more and it will pop up on marketcap radar at an opening gain of 150% and yet a miniscule cap of $42,000.

It's there ! Number 100.

I was off by $6000. It's on the radar with a cap of $48 and a "green light" of +38%.

Sharks will smell blood now. Hodl.
7502  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][SPA] SpainCoin: freedom for Spain, LAUNCHED! on: March 16, 2014, 05:29:49 PM
im new to this king of volatile trading, holding ~500 SPA bought at 0.0005, but maan steel nerves required. I'll die young for sure:D

LOL !!

If it's any consolation, that remark was entertaining enough to make many of my losses worthwhile  Cheesy

Here's some tips for you then from someone who has well troden this road;

[1] - whenever you invest in anything, make your mind up about which of 2 categories this 'spend' falls into:

a) - you really don't know if it's going up or down (have to be honest with yourself - no wishfull thinking allowed)

b) - you're absolutely sure it's going up, either because you've studied the fundamentals or because your using Bitcoinwisdom charts and you've checked the long and short term cycles, they all agree that you're at the bottom of a curve

[2] - if it's [1], send in a 'scout' investment. e.g. 25% of what you really plan to invest, and wait to see what happens. If it goes in the direction you hoped, send in the next 50% and if it continues, send in the last 25%

[3] - if it's [1], again NEVER invest more than you're prepared to loose. Missing a big gain is ok, but taking a big loss is not. The key to safe trading is having the nerves to miss out on big gains and not feel bad about it. It's more important to stay in control than 'catch' a big gain by pure luck.

[4] - never EVER trade in a panic. You've always got much more time than you think you have. just look at Spaincoin - there are regular dips every 1000 satoshi's or so. If it's rising quickly and you feel panicked, that's a signal to NOT DO ANYTHING until you feel in control again. Wait for it to level off at least, preferably dip a bit, and then get into the market if you still think there's mileage in it

[5] - think LIQUIDITY. If you are jumping of in or out, you need to look at how much liquidity is available, For example, Spaincoin topped off at an interim 340,000 satoshi's and dipped back to 280,000. So on the face of it it was worthwhile exiting and re-entering at the lower level. But if you had even a bitcoin invested, there wasn't enough liquidity in the market to make that manoevre possible because you would have had to push the price down to exit and up to re-enter and lost your gain. So price is only half the equation, you need to also look at what volume is creating that price change

Hope that helps you and puts a few years back on your life expectancy !  V  = Live long & prosper !

EVERYONE HERE BUY MASTERCOIN™ INSTEAD.
MASTERCOIN™ IS THE REAL DEAL AND IS THE NEXT BITCOIN!

As a software developer, I don't agree that Mastercoin is "the real deal".

For a start, it's a square peg in a round hole. It has to "live" with the prevailing architecture of the day and cram it's data into the Bitcoin blockchain. For me, thats it holed below the waterline straight away. If it had it's own blockchain it might have a chance of evolving those meta features properly.

(You can see this if you watch the latest Mastercoin video about its new client. Basically a Satoshi client dressed up in Black and with an extra page for asset exchanges).

2nd generation "coins" like Mastercoin are more of a technology investment than a currency investement, so pick a technology that isn't ball-and-chained by a legacy network for a start. Bitcoin's value lies in it's network effect, widespread adoption, Winklevoss's ETF etc etc - not in it's network technology.

Secondly, you can hedge yourself against the opportunity cost of not buying Mastercoin anyway just by owning Bitcoin.

So, for me, Mastercoin is an interesting experiment but a dud investment. It was the first but has already been well superseeded by other 2nd generation networks that have their own blockchain which is purpose built for such meta features.

On the other hand, Spaincoin is actually a proper 'investment' opportunity. I live in Spain - it's quite a big country and one that already knows more about cryptocurrencies than most because it was here that Bitcoin got it's fits big "break" back in April 2013.

The way the devs have structured the distribution is also quite clever - only the first 50,000 will receive the full quota. So partial adoption is already "priced in", unlike Aurora coin. Secondly, the Spanish press is more laid back about crypto's because the banks have already had a right good kicking over here and defending banks is not too popular a headline.

So expect Spaincoin to receive a fairwind from the press. All this points to a potential very large rise in this coin, contrary to Herp Alpert's contention.

Teslacoin main engine ignition on Mintpal.

100 Satoshis more and it will pop up on marketcap radar at an opening gain of 150% and yet a miniscule cap of $42,000.

That's the smell of blood for the circling crypto-reptilian piranha shoals.
7506  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Will Iceland Ban Auroracoin? on: March 16, 2014, 10:28:19 AM
lol this premined coin will crash so hard if they ban it , on the other hand once they airdrop it everyone will rush to sell it for usd and it will crash.

Actually, this isn't as likely as it seems.

Ironically the Icelandic central bank will help the coin to be held because of it's strict exchange controls. To cash out to dollars, people would have to find a way to circumvent those exchange controls to get their dollars back into the country and into an Icelandic bank account. On the other hand, if they cash out to Krona in an Icelandic black cryptocurrency market, the coin will just stay in Icelandic hands.

This has either been very cleverly thought out by the project planners or is an extremely handy accident.

Auroracoin is all talk but no substance. How are they supposedly going to airdrop coins to every single citizen? The manpower and coordination that would be involved in such an endeavor would be massive

This critiscism has about the least basis of any I can think of. Again - the Icelandic government has actually helped Auroracoin here because distribution is going to be a piece of cake due to the national ID online validation service they already have in place. What's more, the "Icekey" system is generic. That means the authorities will never have to know who is collecting their Aurora and who isn't.

The whole thing is going to be very interesting on 4 counts:

[1] - the difficulty with which Icelanders will have in cashing out as opposed to retaining and circulating their Aurora for goods & services

[2] - the ease whith which distribution can take place (contrary to the nonsense quoted above)

[3] - the fact that the coin has been given significant value by foreign markets prior to the aurdrop

[4] - the fact that it is now national news in Iceland, having invoked a special parliamentary session to discuss its implications

There is no liquidity anywhere.

You're lucky if you can get your hands on 10 coins at market price.

A lo mejor consigues 10 coins comprandolos en los mercados. Mejor esperar el regalo.
7509  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] BlackCoin (BC) | on exchanges | PoS | No premine on: March 16, 2014, 12:00:18 AM
..... your a moron. Of course there is pump and dump, that is part of a speculation market, but when there is no supply to fuel the dumps, the value or base price increase every time they start a new pump.

I'm not a moron. I've been trading Bitcoin and alts for almost a year and watched the market develop.

Supply is only one half of the price equation. The other half is demand. Lack of supply only matters if there is a lot of demand and if there's one thing that kills demand in alts it's the fact that a coin has 'had it's pump'.

For Blackcoin, that was it. After that it's too risky because we've seen the top and new coins are emerging every day. The piranha have left the carcass and are off to feed on fresh flesh.

This "pump & dump" cycle is only going to accelarate until there's an almighty culling of alts. Just look at cryptsy. There are loads of them sitting on 1 Satoshi already.

If you want a long term investment then Bitcoin or a 2nd generation alt is your man.
7510  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] BlackCoin (BC) | on exchanges | PoS | No premine on: March 15, 2014, 11:48:09 PM
Just a word of warning folks.

This is the way alts work now:

There are so many alts around. Once a coin gets pumped and "raped" of its value, it's tainted goods. It aint goin back up again.

That's all they're good for. Because someone can create another "Blackcoin" in a couple of hours and there are enough new exchanges emerging to take them on. So get out while the going is good.

Get into something like NXT which takes a year or so to evolve rather than 10 minutes. If you don't like NXT then Mastercoin or Etherium or NEM or (dare I say it) Bitcoin ?

No alt is going to touch Bitcoin after what it's been through. No alt has been to hell and back and survived the way Bitcoin has. If Bitcoin ever gets to $2000 it will be untouchable because the public has been sold every scare story there ever was so far and it won't trust anything else if it sees Bitcoin beat off it's reputation.

Just sayin  Wink

Thanks for the ride Blackcoin. Nice knowin ya.

7512  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] BlackCoin (BC) | on exchanges | scrypt | PoS | No premine on: March 15, 2014, 05:12:08 PM
Lol, I sold mine at 2500+.

I sold at that price as well because I was convinced a correction was incoming.

But it kept on rising so I just got back in at 3100. Then the correction appeared around 3400 (you can see it on the Mintpal graph around 14:00 European time). Since then it's rising and more volume is now appearing rather than less.

Up to about 2500, all the buys were decimals of a bitcoin with the odd one over 1 BTC. Now bigger fish are arriving with 5 and 6 BTC at a time to punt on a rising coin. (EDIT: There is an 11 BTC buy order at 3900 right now. So people clearly think it's going higher of they think they will find the liquidity to cash out that amount later on).

The reason this coin is rising (and why I bought some) is:

[1] - it is a proof of stake amongst an ocean of proof of work

[2] - it's had some genuine thought put into the coin-omics, such as optimal inflationrate etc

[3] - it looks like a genuine original

[4] - it's had a slow, steady rise rather than a panic buy like Mazacoin

[5] - there aren't a load of miners waiting to dump on Cryptsy when more liquidity appears

So I don't think it's going to fall off a cliff. I think it will get a few corrections, stabilise and then drift either up or down for a while.

Just my thoughts - could be wrong but gut feeling says it's not a panic buy (well apart from at this precise moment in time) or a panic sell.
7513  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Im over it with Altcoins..... on: March 15, 2014, 05:03:09 PM
The most promising Alt coins are the Betacoin and the Cryptoeagle. Everything else is bs.

That's what I like to hear.

People passionate about their coin !!!
7514  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Im over it with Altcoins..... on: March 15, 2014, 11:44:21 AM
I still get mixed views on NXT coin, i want to exchange what ive got with whatever will be the most likely successor to bitcoin

For me, NXT is the most promising alt out there. As a software developer, I like the idea that a 2nd generation alt has it's own blockchain. Kind of defeats the purpose otherwise.

Secondly, I like the fact that NXT has both a high and low level protocol to choose from when developing a client solution. Not only that, they are smack square in the centre of internet technology standards - http and JSON.

Thirdly, there are some very clever people doing a lot of work - not just on the network but on the economics and statistics of the coin,so that  it's demographics are very well understood. (Like, say this ... https://github.com/dmkaplan2000/nxt_state/blob/master/nxt_state.md)

Fourthly, whatever its fortunes as an alt coin, it's now becoming a bloody useful just as a service. A whole network of servers just sitting there able to provide, asset registration services, coloured coins, account transaction, messaging, alias management..whatever. The http (high level) protocol makes these so accessible that it's easy to see how a ton of client applications are currently in development, not to mention a choice of about 5 different wallet clients.

Fifthly, again, whatever it's fortunes as an alt coin, there is a viable business model in place. The network is going to make money from service provision - such as asset registration - so it's a million miles away from being simply a trading commodity.

I would never dump NXT at this stage. It's probably at its most undervalued level it will ever be because we are on the verge of a wave of new services and client applications for those services.
7515  Economy / Marketplace / Rogue Stats on coinmarketcap.com on: March 11, 2014, 06:04:35 PM
Hi

coinmarketcap.com is going crazy with misleading stats due to spiking trades on Cryptsy and Cryptorush.

For example, Pandacoin was reported as having a 3000% market cap increase, MAZA 300%. Redcoin 1000% today.

All these currencies have in fact been flat. What gives ?
7516  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: BlackCoin PUMP - the improved Mazatrain on: March 11, 2014, 09:27:46 AM
Op is an asslicking thief, him and his cohorts pump coins then amass a legion on IRC + twitter promising a pump, followed by dumping on the unsuspecting masses. I sold out my BC as soon as they got involved.

Although thats possibly true, Blackcoin is actually not a bad investment right now. POS with interest makes it one of the ones that stand out and it's very new.

Buying.

EDIT: Bought  Cheesy
7517  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why there is so many altcoins? on: March 10, 2014, 12:51:01 PM
There is going to be a huge consolidation in the alts soon.

What the prices and exchanges don't reveal is the extent to which Bitcoin is pulling away from all the alts in terms of infrastructure.

It's an iceberg. Right at this moment, VC's are pumping cash into the Bitcoin service companies, retailers are increasingly accepting it, financiers are creating derivatives for it and entrepreneurs are progressing with their work to bring it to the stock exchanges of the world. Using Bitcoin as a reference, it takes about 6 years for a coin to reach such maturity:

4 years to wash out all the tosh (test it against hacks, exchanges collapses, loss of confidence, rebuild of confidence etc)

2 years to build and consolidate a suitable ingfrastructure

All of this is going on in Bitcoin only. Some few alts might still be viable, but merely as liquidity fronts for Bitcoin.

I've pulled out of all alts and left a little in NXT, PPC, XPM and LTC, being hedges for anything happening to Bitcoin. (NXT does actually have a huge amount of infrastructure development work going on, so I don't include that as one of the alts the will disappear anytime soon).

You can see it happening already. "Going on Cryptsy" used to be a 'pump' signal for everybody. Now it's a 'dump' signal because everyone knows that it's the last chance for the miners to rape the value out of their coin before it hits rockbottom.

We are living in changing times.
7518  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why there is so many altcoins? on: March 10, 2014, 12:31:37 PM
Mastercoin good luck no traction what so ever there people moved on, no need to elaborate.

Agreed.

Etherium, smart contracts where there is no judge or laws that can be effective, just another way to scam others, useless altcoins for indviduals for exchange, anon corporates just waiting for a slap from the USA will never see the light of day after that, dream on Etherium

Agreed.

NXT  SQL DATABASE coins distributed among 75 people, who are you kidding?

Not agreed.

If poster thinks that distribution is the worst of NXT's problems then it's in a very strong position.
7519  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: have attained insider information and leaked-prominent bilionaire releasing alt on: March 10, 2014, 10:33:56 AM
Wrong. There would be publicity behind it - not to mention they would be able to afford good dev support to help build an awesome and long lasting coin. This should be a big deal

Celebrity sponsored cryptocurrencies are a gimmick.

Yes - they will get a lot of publicity, but then die a quick death. This is the history of the web. It's kind of like 'corporate-sponsored email', i.e. about as popular an idea as a private road. Instead of following the public highway from Paris to Berlin, people would take the "Donald Trump express" cos it has his name on it.

Except that, the Donald Trump express has no filling stations, restaurants, maintenance trucks or breakdown services on the way. That's the Bitcoin infrastructure that you don't get (and will never get) with any alt coin.

Celebrity backed "coins" are second class merchandise in the cryptocurrency world and half of the market won't touch them for this reason.
7520  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: have attained insider information and leaked-prominent bilionaire releasing alt on: March 09, 2014, 10:12:44 PM
Do people not realise that the whole point of cryptocurrencies is that they are de-centralised.

That means they can't be owned. It means that if Bill Gates himself launched an alt coin it would be about as competitive as Auroracoin on fundamentals. Obviously Gates-Coin would generate some interest on hype, but would have no long term advantage.

Look at Maxcoin. You could not have got a more hyped coin, and yet it sunk only a week after launch.

Billionaire launching coin = who cares.

Egocoin.
