My father locked his wallet. The BTC address he is using is tied to an Electrum client wallet. We recently updated his Electrum client and that program removed all the old receive addresses and made up all new ones. The obvious question, how do we work around in getting his payout address changed if it is locked? If the answer is you cannot change it (which is what I think it is), he would have to create a new account or something, correct? Since he would be unable to continue to use his original Electrum address.
I'm still waiting for the Electrum devs to answer on where all the receive addresses went to after the update. All the transaction history is still there, and even in the details of the transactions you can see the original BTC address, just don't know how to get the originals back.
If the transaction history is still there and you can still see your wallet balance, I can't imagine the keys to that wallet were lost (otherwise you wouldn't be able to spend anything). I want to make an update on this....my original receive address was there. I never clicked on the little tick mark that opens up the "used" address list. That is where my old address was hiding on me. I indicated to the Electrum dev that it was a mistake on my part. Thanks for the suggestion, I was just about to do that but found the old address. Yes, I feel stupid but humble enough to admit it to the world. sounds like a rather opaque UI, I hate stuff like that |

A "bail-in" is when depositor money is confiscated to save the bank. It's the scenario Germany wants! It's the scenario every bank in Europe wants, the entire f'ing economy is based on creative accounting so they'll have no trouble with loss-free bankruptcies to get their hands on savers money.
