Want to know only one thing - is already available a simple in use GUI wallet that people can download, open, generate address and finally mining at?

I guess we are just currently waiting on many more answers.. I really don't expect the 12th to change anything. If it does I'll be eating my words but I expect to be let down, either way free coins!
Its indeed still many questions unanswered, like , the online wallet like this one https://btgwallet.online/#newAddress is legit or its just a fishing hook of some guys that want some free BTG?

I would say its genuine it's listed on github and the owner is the official pool and is being updated by one of the main gold devs

Will the testnet just merge to the mainnet when it's active or will you be using a different port for the mainnet ?

For example if I was to be mining on the testnet before mainnet goes live will I be auto switched to mainnet or will I need to change something

Must say I am surprised by the S2x Cancel self-destruct!  But are those corporate heads really speaking for the Chinese miners? And why is 2x signalling amongst the miners still ?80% ?! Anything could still happen so I would put away that champagne/popcorn.

Oh and what's with the sharp-even-by-crypto-standards graphs in BTC and the alts. 7-day EMA on BCH looks flat. Just Sayin'.

hmm - that would be interesting strategy - fork whilst the naysayers are drunk and sleepin ?

hehe

"We don't know what happened, Kore broke the 2x agreement and trolled us, the exchanges and corporations called off 2x, but the miners still mined the 2x chain..."

The Chinese successfully used the "broken leg strategy" when launching BCH, maybe they are using it again?

LOL @tek "rebooting the nodes take time".

So, how long before the BTC mempool gets to be 100MB+?

Core didn't sign the 2x agreement it was bitmain etc that broke it the agreement was to prevent a split but they split regardless

And I didn't say rebooting nodes takes time I said it causes downtime even if Its only 10-20 seconds there is no point rebooting unless absolutely necessary there should be failover backups but either way in that time a block could have been found costing them 100k

For the miners to drop the NYA tag it means having to reboot their nodes etc this causes downtime and possibly loss so won't be done unless absolutely necessary.

Now it's possible some may still do it out of spite but that's even less likely to happen than before also not forgetting some are still to this day signalling for Bitcoin Unlimited

Hi all,
Has Bitcoin Gold been available for mining? Thank you.

It's only available on testnet right now so yes you can mine but anything mined is worthless and just used to get up and prepare your equipment and for mining pools, wallets ets to do tests last I heard mainnet was scheduled for the 12th but ive not seen anything official
769  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Bitcoin Gold : Make Bitcoin Decentralized Again on: November 09, 2017, 05:19:00 AM
Simple question.   Can someone tell me the address for the official bitcoin gold website.
I've read that bitcoingold.org was a fake AND then I read that btggpu.org was a fake.   Now if I type btggpu I get directed to bitcoingold?HuhHuh?
Thanks for helping
https://bitcoingold.org/
This maybe not official website, I think this one is official website: https://btcgpu.org/

https://bitcoingold.org/ is the official site and https://btcgpu.org/ was the original address but now just redirects to https://bitcoingold.org/
770  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Bitcoin Gold : Make Bitcoin Decentralized Again on: November 09, 2017, 04:26:43 AM
Will start Sunday or Monday! 7PM!

11/11/2017!!! Good date or?

Haven't seen that information before.  Where did you get it?

It seems that sewit2x has been called off for the time being.   Again, just a few people made this latest decision that affects millions of us.   We desperately need more decentralization.

I support core but would like some better way to be sure that they hear the voice of the bitcoin community

I think that bitcoin would be well served by merging with bitcoin gold (IF bitcoin gold works how it should do).

Can any one explain to me how such a 'merge' would play out?

It's not really possible to merge but core could in theory use the work done here to change to PoW although its really highly unlikely to happen

Im supporting this project though as it makes a good real world test of what a real life PoW change is like

Is this good are bad news for bch?
it's bad for bch ..the market rejects forks. just look at the real BTC price now

Look at B2X price now

https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/segwit2x/

80% Drop instantly

cuz B2X is cancelled/postponed :-D lol

I know all the poor souls that traded BTC for B2X on the futures market

Both good and bad

It's good in the fact that there will no longer be the competition but bad in that they was counting on B2X to make BCH the safe haven in times of uncertainty
774  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Bitcoin Cash - Fork 1:1 of Bitcoin - Pro on-chain scaling - Cheaper fees on: November 08, 2017, 06:12:38 PM

Yea I was reading this earlier from a different source though but all those poor people that recently bought B2X futures at $2000 I bet they are feeling the burn right about now.

It was obvious it was going to be cancelled/postponed or just plain die there goes the last glimmer of hope BCH had to take over the bitcoin brand
775  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Bitcoin Gold : Make Bitcoin Decentralized Again on: November 08, 2017, 12:05:17 PM
I didn't think it would take them so long to launch the coin. There could be some missing deadlines, you can't figure out from the begining, but it is almost 2 weeks later and we still know shit.... Doesn't look good at all (if it ever looked good).

There is nothing wrong with excessive testing it is a good thing last thing you want is having to do a hard fork shortly afterwards like Bcash is having to do just to fix a issue that should have been found during a testing phase
776  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Bitcoin Cash - Fork 1:1 of Bitcoin - Pro on-chain scaling - Cheaper fees on: November 08, 2017, 11:59:46 AM
segwit2x support decreasing

https://coin.dance/blocks

So if support for B2X drops off a cliff before the fork then we can assume the fork will be a dud and business as usual for BTC?

Just looked, 75% to 80% is saying they will support 2X.

Leaving 1X with only 25%, if that # holds we are about to witness the Great SegShit 1X Collapse

https://cointelegraph.com/news/segwit2x-hard-fork-could-have-devastating-consequences-for-bitcoin
Quote
the 1X chain, will have only a tenth the hash power of the 2X chain and will have a block time of nearly two hours.
The network will quite literally crawl, and its maximum transaction throughput will be slashed by an order of magnitude
.

And Bitcoin Cash (The Real Bitcoin) is going to keep working as normal no matter what happens to the shitwit twins.

╥Aztek

By that reckoning BCH has over 50% of supporting hashing power still on BTC (Antpool, BTC.com, BTC.top, ViaBTC) so why isnt it already dead and all power on BCH now ?

The miners mine what is profitable and the users will most likely keep BTC as the most profitable therefore dominant chain the B2X chain may at most get 15-20% of all available hashing power but with no difficulty adjust for ~1000 blocks it could take a good 1-2 months possibly even 3 month to adjust and if so will the miners continue mining B2X at a HUGE loss for this long without being compensated by the supporting companies

The miner signalling is useless the miners will support whichever fork the users give value they won't mine on a fork that is not profitable for long even if they do support it

Thanks for the quick reply

Another question:   I have my bitcoin in mycelium wallet now.   Do you think it would be more convenient to transfer them to the other wallet I have - coinomi - so as to separate the two coins more easily?
Should I do that now or later?
Avoid the risk of losing your btc.
There is replay protection, but why take a chance?  Before you do anything, move the btc to a new address you control.
The BTG will still be in the old address; when the mainnet comes on line, you will be able to sweep the private keys from that old address, which has BTG but no BTC, into Coinomi.

I always treat any fork as if there was no replay protection and would advise everyone to do the same because then when a fork does happen without like B2X you will already be prepared and not do something stupid by accident.

I moved all my BTC to a paper wallet a couple of days before the snapshot and them moved them all back to my trezor a couple of days after so now all the paper wallet has on it it BTG and these will be transferred to the trezor after mainnet is active and trezor support BTG

Yeah so I only thought about it for a few minutes, but I guess we don't have to update our wallets for the Nov 13 fork, since it's just a DA upgrade? Just nodes and miners I'm guessing.

All the forks have nothing to do with the original bitcoin it is open source and you could create a fork tomorrow and nobody could stop you not even the bitcoin developers

I like that you added that... I immediately thought "not even those neckbeard trolls could stop you".

Well it's true no matter if we do have our differences of opinion

I do not understand why Bitcoin cash is going up with BTC. after for there is nothing incomone.. It is just free money..  Huh

Because bitcoin cash is the most strong competitor of bitcoin, so bch is pumping along with BTC. I think the logic is very simple, BCH is decendant of btc, so it can go up together.

It merely dishonest what Bitcoin is doing. Just spilitting and making free money for holders. It is like unmoral community with greed. I do not like this forks. And I hope bitcoin will slowly loose its value together with its clones beacose of this. Also other cryptos who do this should alse slowly disapear.

All the forks have nothing to do with the original bitcoin it is open source and you could create a fork tomorrow and nobody could stop you not even the bitcoin developers
