"Man, Myth, Mathematician - Pythagoras of Samos - Genius" & "What the Ancients Knew - Greece" - It boggles my mind what the ancient greeks knew, and what they calculated without modern computers.

That old saying "Its the economy, stupid".....we don't like that one so much any more.

We have some new ideas.

#5)  It's the  Islamist President, stupid!

#4) It's the old Soviet Union again, stupid!

#3) Its the diseased immigrants, stupid!

#2) It's America-Killing Healthcare, stupid!

#1)  It's Benghazi, stupid!

Tap your shoes together and say scandal until your blood vessels burst.

To think black guys don't get breaks.  He's got the longest string of 200,000+ jobs per month since Clinton, highest markets ever, small business success....coming out of the worst recession in 100 years......and the rabid right among us are ready to call him the worst president ever.  The next black guy will think twice before running.

Haven't you heard ? It's a lie. Everyone is conspiring to make Obama look good. Because he is the only one who benefits when the country does well

its that these sites come out with boring templates and design,  I expected to see a more lively bingo game, so far two developers did a bingo site, probably cost them 200 bucks to make.  No imagination whatsoever, they got no traffic because of that reason, cheap and clean template.

Well, I don't think it's that bad, maybe because personally I like clean and simple design, as why they don't have more traffic, maybe people just don't care about bitcoin bingo.

people care but it takes tons of funding for tons of advertising, you cant depend on bitcointalk for the advertising.  your going to get dice lovers here and greedy people to want to get rich quick games.  This is a game for entertainment.  bingo game should look like a bingo game not another numerical dice site template,

Example look at luckyb,it more for entertainment then get rich.  but nice graphics, nothing to simple or boring

Damn those children, what right do they have to want to live in a country that is not killing them.  OH you righties want this country to be the same as the 3rd world countries these children are coming from. Yep our hate abortion republicans say just send them back to be murdered.
Who's murdering their own kids? And do you really think kids possess the wherewithal to undertake something as dangerous as immigrating across the third world alone?
Look at who is bringing them .  This is human traffic, money changing hands, using desperate people as their pawns.   $ From these corrupt government officials to the cartels to the coyotes.  Round and round.

The people who count in the “removals” numbers (which is what administration flacks mean when they boast of “deportations”) are legal immigrants who’ve committed crimes or illegal aliens caught inside the country
He stated clearly that the priority was going to be deporting those with criminal records, or known to be a threat to public health and safety, anjy.   Also, the ones "caught" would seem to me to be a good place to start, n'est pas?

Where would you have preferred he start?  With the toddlers?

Really, whether political flaks are fudging the numbers with technicalities in order to bump them for public consumption is the kind of thing that conservatives obsess over; not me.   I know as I write this that the president and this administration are sincerely doing all they can, despite these batshit conspiracies you people seem to live to immerse yourselves in.

Which of you  can claim one single person who does NOT think that the flood of illegal immigrants, refugees, whatever label you want to give them, pouring across the border is NOT a problem?   That's the accusation, either said or implied, that I keep reading here.

The president sure as hell knows it's a problem....he has deported more than any previous modern president, including George W. Bush ...est. nearly 2 million.  He HAS "tightened security"...again, beyond anything any previous president did.    The sitting on their thumbs Congress sure as hell knows it's a problem.  They just won't do anything except squirm on their thumbs and blame it on the president.

Enough with the Dream Act blaming.  It was a common sense, compassionate, humane solution to path to citizenship for those under-30s who have been here since childhood and know nothing else except for all intents they ARE Americans.  That it started a false rumor mill in Central America is no one's fault except the rumor-spreaders.

The president is doing all he can within the constraints of the executive.  HE CAN'T ALLOCATE THE MONEY to "militarize the border" by phone or pen, HE CAN'T PASS THE LAWS - some of these are international law -  HE CAN ONLY FOLLOW THEM, AND HE CAN ONLY SIGN THEM after they are passed by the congress.   Nothing has been passed, and word is nothing will be.   HELLO???

If he takes further exec order action, you'll howl.  If he doesn't, you'll howl.   Either shut the fuck up or get down to the border and start shooting...men, women, teens and kids.    You first.

So sick of this useless carping, just to carp.

770  Other / Politics & Society / Re: IRS claims it has LOST two years' worth of emails from former official Lerner on: July 04, 2014, 01:01:47 PM
The IRS has always had the role of judge, jury and executioner, every audit is a witch hunt.

"IRS Commissioner John Koskinen contributed more than $85,000 to Democratic candidates and committees, MRCTV research has discovered - with a $5,000 donation to President Obama in 2012 and $19,000 to the Democratic National Committee from 1988 to 2008."
...

those watching at home may have thought that Koskinen had served a long and storied civil service career "under Republican and Democratic administrations" - but as a matter of fact, prior to his appointment to the IRS six months ago, Koskinen worked as non-executive chairman of publicly-traded Freddie Mac (from 2008 to 2012.)

Koskinen was CEO at Freddie Mac in 2009 (He earned a cool $550,713 for his "service" that year).
...
According to Open Secrets records, the IRS Commissioner that so many described as "arrogant" contributed to every Democratic nominee for president since 1980. He gave $2,300 to Obama's first run for president in 2009 and $5,000 in 2012.

Hillary Clinton has received $3,800 from Koskinen.
...

"Badgering witnesses is inappropriate and shameful for this Committee to conduct itself in that manner," Rep. Jackie Speier (D-Calif.) said in Koskinen's defense during last night's testimony. "I want this committee to be run as it should be run, with respect and decorum. And badgering this Commissioner as virtually every member on the Republican side has done [tonight] is shameful. And it's gotta stop. Or I'm telling you, one member here is going to walk out and not return."

Nowhere in their impassioned defenses of Koskinen (or his noble public service) did Democrats mention that he has contributed almost $100,000 to their party.

Have you ever noticed, that while politicians of all stripes are a rather seedy bunch, when Republicans are caught with their pants down and their hand in the cookie jar,-------  the whole scandal is over in a matter of days or weeks, because their constituents demand their resignation, where there is evidence of real misconduct, they are GONE.  The Dems will continue defending and excusing their dirt bags for years and years and years     ----    ------   -------

Issa Expands Investigation – Subpoenas 28 Years of Lois Lerner Emails
Posted by Jim Hoft on Wednesday, June 25, 2014, 7:05 PM

Lois Lerner, the controversial director of the tax-exempt organizations division at the Internal Revenue Service, has a long sordid history of targeting conservatives.

Under the direction of Lois Lerner, the Federal Election Commission sued the Christian Coalition in the 1990s. She harassed the Christian Coalition for three election cycles. Eventually, she lost her case. At one point Lerner even asked a targeted conservative if Pat Robertson prayed over him. (Sound familiar?)
In 1996, while at the FEC, Lois Lerner harassed Republican Senate candidate Al Salvi and made him this outrageous offer, “Promise me you will never run for office again, and we’ll drop this case.”

http://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2014/06/issa-expands-investigation-subpoenas-28-years-of-lois-lerner-emails/
Today House Oversight Chairman Darrell Issa (R-CA) turned up the heat on Lois Lerner and subpoenaed 28 years of Lerner’s emails from 1986 until the present day.
Political Ticker reported:

Expanding his IRS investigation by more than two decades, House Oversight Chairman Darrell Issa, R-California, has sent a subpoena to the Federal Elections Commission for all communications involving former IRS administrator Lois Lerner from January 1, 1986 to the present day.

This new search is the broadest-yet for records in a year-long investigation by Issa and congressional Republicans, who are trying to assess why the agency targeted tea party and other political groups for extra scrutiny.

Issa issued the subpoena to Lee Goodman, head of the Federal Election Commission, on Tuesday for communications involving Lerner, who is seen as a central figure in the controversy because she ran the division that executed the targeting.

She resigned last year after the Treasury Department’s inspector general found those working under her used “inappropriate” criteria to scrutinize certain groups. Since then, Lerner has refused to testify before Congress, invoking her Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination. This has added to the Republican push to find any documents related to Lerner and her time in government.

In the on-going, determined GOP effort, Republicans are now reaching back to her career before the IRS.

Lerner joined the FEC in 1981, first working in the general counsel’s office. Issa subpoena focuses on her work after 1986, when Lerner became the head of the FEC’s enforcement division.
772  Other / Politics & Society / Re: No president escapes the American sense of humor on: July 04, 2014, 12:14:43 PM
I've never taken offense to humor about a President - it's part of their job to be the public face of the country, and they'll always be lampooned by someone. There was a record album put out back in the early 60's called "The First Family" that lampooned the Kennedys. It was hilarious. Remember Chevy Chase making a career out of pratfalls based on President Ford stumbling off Air Force One? Funny stuff.  What I take issue with is the things that are deliberately nasty about the President's wife and children, which, in my opinion, tarnish the very essence of humor. Humor is, by design, good natured - even when it's lampooning someone. That's why things like celebrity roasts and the annual Correspondent's' Dinner are so much fun. The problem is when the tone changes and it turns downright nasty - like making appearance "jokes" to mask your petty calling someone ugly look less ugly itself (it doesn't work). When you call the First Lady a Wookie, or her daughters apes or chimpanzees, it is YOU who actually looks ugly.

What do you think?
This video is based mainly on religious perspective, but even then there is no SOLID evidence that Jesus ever existed, or any other religious figure for that matter. I personally have to say that it's your own fault for electing him in the first place if you're just going to rage about it now.

You have no solid evidence that George Washington existed.  Or dinosaurs.  Or anything that you haven't seen for yourself.

Jesus did exist because another is alive today.
well George Washington hmmm...the 1 dollar bill is minted in the 21st century so it is fair to assume he did exist ,I think that if you look back in history you will find plenty of evidence like his signature and , we have hundreds of history book cites, his grave and estate, his personal writings, a few portraits, diary and journal entries from a hundred people who knew him, mention of him in English government reports in archives ..as for the dinosaurs go to The National Museum Of Natural History and you will find the "bones proof"......are you the second Jesus?
774  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Turns out that Hobby Lobby holds assets in emergency contraception production on: July 03, 2014, 05:24:08 PM
1. There were several litigants. The ruling wouldn't have changed in any meaningful way. Hobby Lobby would have simply lost standing* or whatever. MotherJones would have then been crying about how Conestoga Wood Specialties Corporation's owner's step-brother's uncle's cousin's Jewish nephew's dogsitter's sister's best friend once bought Plan B.

*I say they'd lose standing because there were other plaintiffs alongside Hobby Lobby, hence "Hobby Lobby, et al.," and since the court was still compelled to rule on Conestoga, it would likely include the other plaintiffs alongside Hobby Lobby while simply excluding Hobby Lobby. I believe one way to do this is to deny standing to Hobby Lobby.

2. As I understand it, it was a finding of fact that Hobby Lobby's owners were sincere in their convictions, which would mean that the onus would then be on HHS to challenge their sincerity, which they did not do (apart from challenging sincerity of Hobby Lobby's religious convictions on the grounds that for-profit corporations cannot hold religious beliefs, let alone sincere ones).

From the syllabus:

It is not for the Court to say that the religious beliefs of the plaintiffs are mistaken or unreasonable. In fact, this Court considered and rejected a nearly identical argument in Thomas v. Review Bd. of Indiana Employment Security Div., 450 U. S. 707. The Court’s “narrow function . . . is to determine” whether the plaintiffs’ asserted religious belief reflects “an honest conviction,” id., at 716, and there is no dispute here that it does. Tilton v. Richardson, 403 U. S. 672, 689; and Board of Ed. of Central School Dist. No. 1 v. Allen, 392 U. S. 236, 248–249, distinguished. Pp. 35–38.

Held:

The companies in the cases before us are closely held corporations, each owned and controlled by members of a single family, and no one has disputed the sincerity of their religious beliefs.

3. Denying a person their religious rights because of some perceived hypocrisy is ... probably not constitutional.

As noted in Ginsburg's dissenting opinion:

I agree with the Court that the Green and Hahn families’ religious convictions regarding contraception are sincerely held. See Thomas, 450 U. S., at 715 (courts are not to question where an individual “dr[aws] the line” in defining which practices run afoul of her religious beliefs).

The NYTimes, like most of the media, exalts their vision of freedom of the press, but they fail to critically examine whether press freedom can (and should) be more restricted than they would like. Consider Canada, where press freedom is less than in the USA. They seem to be doing fine.

778  Other / Politics & Society / Re: The OTHER SC Ruling...Union Slap Down on: July 03, 2014, 03:46:46 PM
The Supreme Court has ruled.   They don't have to join the union or pay union dues.  All that I am saying is that if they don't want to join and pay dues. they should not then be able to freeload off those paying the dues that support the representation of the union in negotiating a higher wage or better benefits.  They can go in and negotiate their own salary and benefits since they are not paying dues.

Surely you also don't believe they should get something for free either -- do you?

I don't know how that's siding with the unions.  That's merely saying you should not benefit off the good will (and dues) of the union if you don't want to be a member and pay the dues.  And you say I'll side with the union no matter what, but the reverse is true for you and yours, that you will side against them no matter what.

I would venture to say that the prevailing reason that folks join a union shop or seek work in a union workplace is for the increased wages and benefits, and that they view their dues as a small price to pay for substantially increased wages over the non-union shops.     And part of those dues are sometimes used to support pro labor candidates, pro labor legislation, and generally looking out for the interests of labor, just like any group of like-minded or like-employed folks do.  For example, I am a court reporter, self-employed.  Part of my membership dues to the National Court Reporters Association and the Minnesota Association of Verbatim Reporters and Captioners goes for lobbying efforts to look out for the interests of our members.  Without unions or private organizations like the ones I belong to, how does the working man have any voice other than their single vote?

And believe me, in a volunteer situation, like my state and national association, the members carry the burden and everyone gets the benefit, which is, on its face, patently unfair, IMHO.

But that aside, whatever their reason for not wanting to pay the union dues, they are free to do that.   The Supreme Court made that clear here, and you evidently also are working that way at your employer.  All I'm saying is then those non-union employees should have to negotiate their own salaries and benefits, and if the union happens to negotiate a better wage for their dues-paying members, well, that's part of the reward those dues-paying members are reaping for their dues.  Why should dues-paying members fund that representation and allow those who choose to not participate in paying the dues to get the same benefit nonetheless?

I would venture to say that the prevailing reason is because they have to.  That is being evidenced by the exodus from unions whenever it is possible, and why unions like SEIU tried for force Ms Harris to pay and why they are attempting to establish themselves offshore.

Unions are dying because their love affair with Dems and mutual greed has trumped their usefulness to workers.
779  Other / Politics & Society / Re: The OTHER SC Ruling...Union Slap Down on: July 03, 2014, 03:15:23 PM
she was not paying herself wages.  She was essentially contracted by her son who is the actual Medicaid recipient and yes it is legal  And no one is "laying down specific parameters blah blah blah" just because you are flailing to try to make this about private unions when it is not.
780  Other / Politics & Society / Re: The OTHER SC Ruling...Union Slap Down on: July 03, 2014, 02:57:16 PM
They don't care to learn the particulars of the case because the particulars don't matter to them.  They'll side with the unions anyway, no matter the details.
So who thinks that workers should be FORCED to pay union dues? I surely do not. And the Unions themselves say they represent everyone regardless of whether the are union members or not.
Bingo.  Meanwhile union money feeds Dems who feed entitlements which feeds Dem unions and WS which feed Dems and so on and so on...all on the backs of the 99%.
