Now if you really want a project all you have to do is figure out how to get the Z9 to mine Equihash 144, 5.. It would be badass to have all the chips split the data requirement and work together.. That would be a crazy firmware project but probably nearly impossible. I would really be interested in some mini upgrades though, I have batch a batch 1 and batch 2 running now. Would be legit if they could push 20k sols a piece.

Haha. If I could have done that, I wouldn't have sold my mini's. It's more about the hardware than firmware. ASICs are not field programmable and the IO path for crypto doesn't lean itself towards intercept to help with off-ASIC memory.

Thanks all of you guys for sharing your point of view - if you want to pay 100$ per machine - so as you wish keep paying

patch looks very simple itself, it took less than few hours to figure out how, unfortunately I didn't have a chance to check it previously because don't own Z9

but just checked - and it works like a charm, below are my own screenshots

If you have previous experience with reverse engineering and know some ARM assembly, it can be done. Also, you should let that system settle -- the WU number is about 1/6th what it should be.

If you can make frequencies above 650 stable also, it'd be a great boon to the community.

Good work!

Would ya'll prefer a 600Mhz version that includes a 1-1.5% dev fee over the other options?

Seeking inputs.

Thank you,

Jason

Rep efudd.

....*snip*....
Great job my friend. Thank you.

While I appreciate the support, let's try to keep the tone here civil. :-)

You forgot to say you take donations as well
All you did - was changing few bytes in original cgminer binary. My understanding is that it costs no more than ~10$ per machine

I hope community will have free version very soon

This is my last response on this topic.

I too sincerely hope the community has a free version very soon (they do, now).  Anyone performing a modification should remember the value of their own time and work performed relative to the value received by the end user. From a value perspective, I know from my own mining operation over the last few months that the only thing that really made it reasonably successful is overclocking. I can appreciate your viewpoint when you say "all you did".

Could someone with more experience produce this faster, quicker? Without doubt, yes they could.
In my case, I've put a solid 40+ hours into this project just between Friday and Monday. This project is a net-loss to me, no matter which way I swing it, because I know the value of 40 hours of my time and the resulting work.

I released the 575Mhz version to get feedback and provide to the community with 300 downloads in 24 hours. One can reasonably assume that means they are running on at least 300 machines successfully.

Total donations from those: $0.00

There are, for example, requests to provide voltage control -- I know for fact these machines can do 80k+ Sol in my testing, troubleshooting, debugging, analysis, and resulting modifications. I don't have that stable yet, but...

So there is plenty of opportunity here.

Thank you for your input and sharing your viewpoint,

Jason

People always want something for nothing. May I ask how you accomplished enforcing one image per z9? did you add a remote service for disabling the miner if an image is used on more than one mac?

I'd prefer to stay on topic about Z9s and hashrates, but I can appreciate all curiosity there. I too would be curious.

Thank you,

Jason

hello jason,

the chips in Z9s and minis are alle undervolted  can you make them somehow overvolt?

some guy is showing Minis with 20k+ hashrate

bye

Hello Zidrimas, I have not looked at voltage control yet. That is on my todo list.
768  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Efudd's Custom Z9 Large Overclock Firmware is Now Available! on: September 26, 2018, 02:06:35 PM
Contacted topic starter - prices look insane

does anyone want cheaper or free public version ?

I agree, they are insane. 1 ZEC per machine, or less in quantity to get 33% or more increase over factory clock, with near-immediate responses on inquiries and requests for help, for a machine that costs 31ZEC to import (including tariffs) to the US. 3% is entirely too much!

Also, I have a pitchfork if you'd like. It is available for 0.25ZEC, free shipping.

(Apologies, my sarcasm is running high pre-coffee...)

Hello,

I think I have responded to all inquiries received today. If you reached out to me and I didn't respond, I apologize. Please reach out to me again.

For those of you who are using the unlocked firmware, Thank You.

If there are any questions about the firmware, wishlist items on customization, or feedback, I welcome the conversation. We can all learn how to use this equipment better by working together and sharing experiences.

could you teach me how to customize any upcoming new machines? is it easy (just change some value in a text file) or do I have to change all the firmware? because I'm not very experienced.

sry but i cant send PM for today

Temps stay at 75-76 on 637 but went to 78 on 650.. Only one card drops off after about 5 minutes. I contacted bitmain before and they informed me that the chips were good till 115 so not for sure..

I'll contact you via PM and give you an email so we can share more information and figure this out.

Jealous of people being able to use this up to 650 stable.. I can't go over 637 without one card dropping off. Still getting 55.5k but I know it has more. What would be causing that?

cmiles7888 - what are your temps? You are _literally_ the first person to not show 650 stable. I'd like to understand more.
774  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Efudd's Custom Z9 Large Overclock Firmware is Now Available! on: September 25, 2018, 11:28:06 PM
What are discarded shares?  Seems I 4 to 1 accepted to discarded shares.  I know you don't want a lot of rejects but not sure about discarded.

Discarded is normal. That is the local machine identifying "hey, this work would be a waste of time" and not doing it. Instead it immediately continues on to valid work.

Also, thank you -- link has been sent to you via email.

*EDIT*: Thank you for reaching out to me and explaining the situation. Access to your image has been re-enabled.

Hello,

I have removed access to your image as it has been shared on facebook.

You can contact me via PM if you have any questions.

Thank you,

Please do not hesitate to ask if you have any questions.

Jason
you can somehow disable the fan's 100% fan speed on reboots? as it is done with blissz on L3 + firmware

I can look into that for any future updates. I run my fans at 100% anyway, so I have not looked yet.

Free version working great for me, I'm going to buy the paid version in a minute.  What is a safe high end temp for the PCB and Chip?

I normally don't pay any attention to PCB temps, so perhaps others can provide inputs. Otherwise, I personally try to keep my chips under 75C. In reality, I have triggers against my miners to shut them down if the hit 77C as that is an indication that I have some airflow issues that I need to resolve.. but that is specific to my environment.

My current Z9s at 650 are running under 70C, but they are getting help from a 750cfm of air being forced to them at about 75F.

I am interested as well. Can you update us how to proceed to get the firmware, please?

PM sent with details.

Thank you,

I have the paid version and it is working as stated.  650M max for me but the beauty is that he added many more Freq so I can downgrade if necessary.  And of course he kept the 500 and 550 for those that wish to go back to stock.  Definitely worth it.  The longer you wait, the more you regret!

Thank you for this feedback, cdn007!

Please do not hesitate to ask if you have any questions.

Thank you,

Jason
