764  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: R9 Nano mining results + power draw on: January 03, 2016, 06:59:17 PM
I picked up a Nano for testing today.  A Sapphire AMD Radeon R9 Nano, my rig is drawing 200 watts more at the wall mining ETH at stock 1000/500@25mh with the Nano plugged in.  I'm slightly disappointed, although nice & warm.

What drivers are you using please?  I'm using the latest Crimson, Catalyst 15.8 with driver 15.300.1025.0

ETA:

I have stripped the rig down, re-installed everything and with just the Nano plugged in system is using 230w.  Mobo, CPU etc take 75w, meaning Nano now taking 155w at wall mining ETH @stock.  Not as good as the OP, but getting better.

I tested with Win 10 Pro, Latest Crimson drivers 15.11 or so i thought it was. Not sure, i'd have to check.

Mine is an XFX R9 Nano. But that wouldn't make any difference i think.

I've made some more improvements to the backend - hashrate should be much more precise now.

Looking good here, hashrate on spot and payouts very good too, thanx !

Yup! I can only agree! Hashrate is as it should be and payments are perfect.

Only a few pools out there who effectively hit the theoretical eth/mhash as calculated here: http://badmofo.github.io/ethereum-mining-calculator/

Suprnova is one of them!

Congrats Ocminer, not much devs with the same dedication as you!  Smiley

Ocminer,

i have switched over to your pool for 3 hours.

in that timespan i earned 2.3 eth. (Bonus included "that 30%")

I switched back to my old pool and earned 2.5 eth in 2 hours.

Could you explain that to me?

Thx

It's 10% bonus currently as already over 2000 ETH have been given away and i'm running out of bonus coins slowly.

3 or 2 hours is too short for a comparison, that must be variance, if your hashrate was/is the same.
I'm doing such tests too on a regular basis and for me its always around the same after a timespan of about 24h.

Mmm okay, i reverted back to the other pool and payment is exactly the same as it was before.

Don't get me wrong here, don't want to badmouth your pool, i know you deliver quality work, and reading about your bonus etc, i figured i'll switch because i've always been happy with your service.
But getting payed a decent amount extra somewhere else is kind of an obvious choice.

Thx for the reply!

Not bad.

Here some results.

Bat file:

Code:
setx GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT 100
setx GPU_USE_SYNC_OBJECTS 1

::sgminer --help

sgminer -k x13mod -o stratum+tcp://x13.usa.nicehash.com:3337 -u 172dGNZU2zwpyCDRzAfu7ypDtc7ZfUXC3U -p x

pause

That's it. Just the bat file. No config file. I tried to keep it simple to get rid of any other possibilities.

Ok i changed some small things, try "this".
It's X11, the stock btc address is still in the .conf file, change that if you don't want to mine for someone else Smiley

Just tested it over here and works fine. Scan with Virustotal first before you run it. Never trust anyone here Smiley

Good luck!

I'll have to work on this one. I'll see if I can set up a test machine or figure out how to install display drivers in a virtualbox environment. Can you PM me the changes that were made?

Ok on a testmachine, but not in a virtual box environment, bad idea.

I just did some cleanup for the batch and the config file.

Just download it, and try it on your machine where you have issues.

And if you don't trust me, run it through virus total first.

No problem, just want to help out.

Have you tried mining Ethereum?

Does that work?

You already tried to use the stock sgminer with stock kernel/binaries right?

put your runme.bat and *.conf file @ paste bin or so and show it here.

But your issues are driver issues or something i think.

Try ethereum first. you can find a windows version @  cryptomining-blog.

Let me know how it went.

Greetings

Ok, started trying Ethereum. I ran nanopool-ocl.bat and it started getting some sort of DAG? I think it's working. Started getting a wallet set up. Wow, Ethereum really isn't user friendly yet. But It's syncing. I should have more info soon.

Edit: It's happily mining away.

miner  16:17:04|main  Mining on PoWhash #19f23f26ΓǪ : 19141414 H/s = 21495808 hashes / 1.123 s

Edit2: So far so good with Eth. http://nanopool.org/account/0x15157f03bbda019f0844d8d1f605cb7de9f33d90

Edit3: I also tried many different versions of sgminer. old, new and custom. I used the same bat file for all of them.

Code:
setx GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT 100
setx GPU_USE_SYNC_OBJECTS 1

Ok that's good, you're doing 21Mhz, which is good. you'll earn something now Smiley

Anyhow, that's good, you're able to mine "something" Smiley

Still have no clue why sgminer is being so stubborn over there.

it would help if i could see what's exactly happening.

could you show me your .bat and .conf file info?

If anyone can get this working with Nicehash miner I'll give you .05 BTC.

Already sent you a pm a while ago :p Willing to help you and i don't need btc. No worries!

It'd rather not do it using a virtual desktop. With it blue screening it would be a pain anyway.

The blue screen definitely has something to do with the auto switching portion and not sgminer itself.  It only blues screens when I run the runme.bat or when I try to benchmark or mine using nicehashminer.exe.

If I run sgminer using my own bat file it doesn't crash but it goes to a black CMD window after showing version info.

The nicehash site shows a miner connected but 0 accepted 0 rejected.

The log file of sgminer show it starting up but not doing anything.

BFGminer does run but I never get any accepted but it does show info and not just a black window after version info.

So I might have 2 problems. 1) Nicehash miner Blue screens. 2) SGminer doesn't display anything after the version info but also doesn't mine.

I have the latest ATI drivers installed but I have tried to install 15.7.1.

I installed the latest APP SDK.

I've tried older versions of SGminer.

I'm not sure what else to try. Maybe if I can get it even working with another miner program so I at least know its working correctly. My problem is I have no idea of what switches to put in the bat files. I know the card works good because I've tried playing ARK Survival and Skyrim.

Spreadcoin is up 125% today. My donation spreadminer is very profitable.

A copy can be yours for only 0.1 btc

You're getting people to buy your miner by pointing out a pump and dump? You had to know that they really wouldn't have any time to mine before the dump - and the miner is useless for any other coin.

Really, that behavior irks me somewhat. Not that I'm a saint, but IMO it's deliberately misleading. So, I took a few hours out of today to dust off my CUDA skills and look at your X11 miner.

This is yours, on a GTX 860M: Maxwell card, compute 5.0 (NSFW): https://ottrbutt.com/miner/spx11stock-12262015.png

This is what it looks like on the same card, same stock clocks, after I spent a few hours on it (NSFW): https://ottrbutt.com/miner/wolfx11ccminer-12262015.png

Both done with CUDA 6.5. Correct me if I'm wrong, but that appears to be a 15.03% increase.

I ain't lost a step.

Nice! I wish you'd do more CUDA.

Well, to be honest, i hope he doesn't, or there's no one left at amd side :p

nice results none the less. But not surprised :p

Just choose a folder, doesn't really matter for now. We just want to get your card mining.

I remember me having that same BSOD atimkdag.

But that wasn't while starting up sgminer or so. I got it at random.

I believe i had to remove all the drivers, reinstall them all before installing any remote administrative software. Like Teamviewer or vnc.

Because my issue was i first installed vnc and tv and than i installed the drivers. That constantly gave me issues.

Install Afterburner as well if you haven't already..

Thanks for helping me out with this.

I uninstalled Teamviewer and the amd drivers, rebooted, disabled avast, reinstalled latest amd drivers and installed MSI Afterburner. Then I ran the runme.bat located in the sgminer-5-2-1-general folder and it did the same thing. It shows some info, pauses for a countdown, shows some version info then BSOD.

Sorry this is being so difficult.

Does the "Tonga" have anything to do with it? I see files in the SGminer folder like "darkcoin-modHawaiigw64l4ku0.bin" but none that have Tonga in them. Like darkcoin-modTonagw64l4ku0.bin for example. Just guessing. This is the first AMD card I've ever had.

Edit: I also tried downgrading the driver to version 15.7.1 using the device manager and trying to manually install them but for some reason it says that version 15.200.1062.1004 were installed. I tried it anyway and it still blue screened.

Oh yeah i forgot to mention.

Rename the darkcoin-modHawaii to darkcoin-modTonga and it'll work fine Smiley

Try to delete these 2 files: in the sgminer folders (nicehash miner)

amd_opencl32.dll
amdocl.dll

it should detect them.

Hey! That worked. I can now see the card on nicehash miner. But now when I try to benchmark I get a BSOD and a frowny face Sad (gotta love windows 10). The error says SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION (atikmdag.sys).

Go inside the bin folder and start sgminer manually without the nice hash app (runme.bat or something). See if that works
