761  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How old are you now in bitcoin investment? on: May 15, 2023, 12:06:43 PM
I would say I have known Bitcoin now for three years or a little bit over three years. I am still a toddler in Bitcoin, but I have never been a Bitcoin investor, I think we should know the different between Bitcoin enthusiast and Bitcoin investor, I am not saving Bitcoin up for a period of time hoping for increase and then withdraw and forget about Bitcoin, I am here because I think Bitcoin has a role in the future of the financial system.

Well my experience has been amazing I have become a more careful person, because it's easy to lose your Bitcoin to scammers or your own careless, I have been able to heighten the sense of security in myself thanks to Bitcoin.

Also Bitcoin has exposed me to decentralized freedom, I feel safer using Bitcoin, especially when I hear about people's issues with banking system.
762  Economy / Economics / Re: What is the difference between banks and big whales in crypto? on: May 14, 2023, 08:13:44 PM
I don't see how there is a similarity between banks and big Whale in Crypto-currency they are totally not similar, a bank is an institution where one can go to and deposit their funds, Crypto Whales can be an individual or group that own a large amount of a particular coin in their possession.

Bank: an institution where you go to consciously not under duress to deposit your funds.

Whales: are individual who actually uses there own funds to make purchase.

Banks: centralized institution that can make use of that your funds you deposited with them to make profits for them self and also have great control and usage over your own funds.

Whales: crypto is decentralized so Whales has more control over their own portfolio especially in Bitcoin and can have access to any other person's crypto-currency.

763  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Where can I exchange USDC to BTC with very little fees and fast? on: May 14, 2023, 06:16:09 PM
Just like oshosondy has told you OKX is fair enough than binance although going by what we are used to $4 for transaction fee is still ridiculous especially for those who aren't fund of increase the transaction fees to get there transaction done in a hurry.

Also why looking for a better option than binance you still have to also consider other factors like how secured is the exchange actually and so I think you have the option to research on centralized and decentralized exchange that could suite you.
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2906237.msg29885570#msg29885570

But what I did was to go for the cheapest option readily available for me which was OKX and the exchange isn't bad, also I have tried to reduce my Bitcoin transaction this period as much as I can to see out this period.
764  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Whitepaper seen in the street of Edinburgh, Scotland on: May 14, 2023, 03:53:14 PM
and yet at this same precise moment..

imagine it this way, we all know fiat banks have problems. but in the UK its free and fast to wire transfer.
then being told bitcoin is better.
but then when people try it.. they end up not being able to pre guess a transaction fee, but be told the fee at the time of use, which when finding out its upto £50 they realise thats 10x worse then using western union, 200x worse then using paypal

then when they want to discuss it they are presented with idiots saying "no, nothing should be done it might die out in a few months. so try this other network instead.. or wait until the jupiter is aligned in the astro plains of capricorn to transact cheaply"

sorry but that also sounds like a bad proposition, promotional plan
Also in the same UK banks can freeze your account if they choose to, and you identity is required to open a bank account there by your blowing out the option for anonymity, same banks that you have to wait a while if you want to withdraw in cash huge amount of your own money, same banks that if they go bankrupt or some other negative factors affects it your money isn't completely safe.

I don't think we can speak negative about Bitcoin just because of the transaction fees inconsistent we are facing. When telling someone about the advantage Bitcoin has over the banking system there many points to begin with aside transaction fee, but the bottom line is that it's all about individual preference.
765  Economy / Economics / Re: South Africa in trouble. on: May 14, 2023, 02:41:48 PM
Logically speaking I would say it's all false. South Africa might be a big nation in Africa and probably theost stable African country but how do they stand in the world in terms of economy? For now they don't have that weapon sophistication to be able to supply Russia weapons in this current Russia and Ukraine war.

I believe the reason why the rand is falling is because of the FUD this news has already created and the South African economy has taking the heat.
I think the South African government should urgently try very much to debunk this if it's a rumors because the longer the rumors keeps flying the more the Rand may keep falling against the Us dollar.
766  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: AWESOME! on: May 14, 2023, 12:01:53 PM
.

The geometry progression of this innovative individual idea: BTC, surpasses man and his ordinary prediction.
Generational thanks to the founder and the forum members for sustaining this great and wonderful virtual crypto-currency.
Nothing is above man, it was humans that created Bitcoin so Bitcoin isn't surpassing man, I would agree that Bitcoin is hard to predict, even if some claims to be able to predict Bitcoin I would say to prevent panic through fomo (fear of missing out) FUD (Fear uncertainty and doubt) it's best to do your own research and understand things yourself taking in account authentic news.

Firstly welcome to the forum, very possible to be the biggest Bitcoin forum in the world but it's not only members here that sustain Bitcoin, Bitcoin is fast becoming generally accepted and there are many Bitcoin enthusiast out there that aren't yet on the forum.

Rather than channeling your some worth over religious exaltation of Bitcoin you can actually channel it to learn more about Bitcoin especially the technology aspect this board is a great board to begin with the you can also check other boards like Bitcoin board and it's sub board.
767  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: How una dey cope with this high Bitcoin fees wahala, which wallet una dey use? on: May 13, 2023, 08:49:21 PM
E day good that the transaction fee price has started to go back to normal and with time it would fully go back to the usual Transaction fees we are well accustomed to, the Bitcoin transaction was really a thing of worry and had the whole ecosystem in concern.

I go talk say I no too panic I knew the main cause of the Transaction fee was the NFT and other factors that was on the Bitcoin network, I believe the rush for them would fade off. My main coping mechanism during this high transaction fee period was try as much as possible not to perform any transaction, this was the effective way.
768  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How I accumulate bitcoin as a newbie? on: May 13, 2023, 07:48:43 PM
Bitcoin isn't picked here in the forum, so don't just speculate that everyone in the forum has accumulated Bitcoin, firstly you need to know what your reason for accumulating Bitcoin is,
You might want to be a short term investor or a long term investor or you may be a Bitcoin enthusiast and supports the future belongs to Bitcoin.

If you have such thought then they way you accumulated Bitcoin is dependant on how you want to make it work, you need to have a service or means to make it, it is as simple as that, find out the Skill you good in and work with jt.
769  Other / Off-topic / Re: Mobile Devices with Malware Pre-infection Attack on: May 13, 2023, 12:30:20 PM
This is a serious topic and if this research was conducted properly and he is really sure that this is happening I think it's best to act fast, it's really hard to nullify any malware that was set before phone was released.

I think there should be point blank list of those mobile device companies engaging in this because it's goes against consumers right.

Also it's best to buy device from legit sources, we have lots of companies making android device even by using locals in science and engineering. Buy devices of this types that are many raises your chances of having such malware issues.

Bitcoin has been around for several decades, and we all understand how important the project is.
I don't know how you got this information but it's wrong, Bitcoin if you can do your own research came about in 2009 and if you minus 2009 from 2023 you would be left with fourteen years, that's actually not up to several decades.

One of the best thing to do right now is don't get distracted by people's prediction, I can still remember when Bitcoin reached its all time high, I know many people who still thought that from their Bitcoin would get to even more all time high but it started to plummet, that's the crypto-currency market for you, it's completely unpredictable.
771  Economy / Economics / Re: Why you should use spare money to invest on: May 12, 2023, 07:51:50 PM
I am not anyone's financial adviser so right now I am speaking for myself, yes investment is risky and this character is not only seen in Bitcoin and crypto-currency even off crypto investment are risky.

But with the time I have been able to be active in Bitcoin I can say the risk in Bitcoin is lesser than many other investment opportunities in the long run.

The world is going tech and Bitcoin is the leading digital asset in the world right now and the want for Bitcoin would always increase, I would say invest according to your capital when in investing in Bitcoin rather than saying what you can afford to lose. If you are a long term investor and you only invest in Bitcoin I still don't see how you can lose.
772  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Which of this is plagiarism ? on: May 12, 2023, 06:59:52 PM
Firstly this isn't a not book you must not affix lines after ending every sentence there is actually no need for that.

Also plagiarism has always been a very simple case and that's when you get any content that isn't yours you make sure to put in where you sourced it.

But with artificial intelligence although I am not fully grasped with how it works but I think I have seen statement that one can actually plagiarise and get undetected but what would be your personal gain doing so, fooling yourself is the worse thing anyone can do because you would never get the knowledge you plagiarized.
773  Economy / Economics / Re: apple made trillions and become wealthiest company, ARM made barely a few hundre on: May 10, 2023, 08:59:28 PM
The fact that some cellphones have some better features than the apple itself. But Apple is more expensive and still people want it justify all the quality it gives but it's too expensive in my country just to buy a cellphone. This shows that Apple's background due to good marketing and advertising that most people still prefer it among else.
I would not say it’s good marketing, no mate,, infact if there is one company that does do global marketing it has to be Apple, and they are still the greatest company right now.

I was watching a Movie about Steve Jobs and amongst his core values weren’t marketing but rather service. Apple Pay’s great attention to details on their project and they have been doing this for so long now they have giving great distance to their competition. If Apple devices weren’t competent then it won’t be getting this success it has.
774  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Use self custody wallets, don't use exchange wallets. Check mempools these days. on: May 10, 2023, 08:16:55 PM
It's true that we should take our coins off exchanges but only if you are reasonably tech savvy and know how to protect your private keys. For others who are less able and are more used to online banking then pick a good one like coinbase to do it. Showing someone to buy a ledger wallet, setup the secret phrases, hide it (but make it restorable in a fire), learn how to withdraw etc.. I'm sure they rather just leave it in paypal and accept the higher fees
You don’t have to be tech savvy to be able to move your coins off exchange, if you can have an exchange and even have funds on the exchange then you should be able to click withdraw and input the address(private wallet) you want to send it to.

Never compromise your safety on the excuses that you aren’t tech savvy, rather than leave you funds on an exchange regardless of what ever exchanges (Coinbase etc), it’s best you learn how to transfer your funds of it.
775  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Would you still do business with them? on: May 10, 2023, 07:39:53 PM
Actually they were kind enough to tell people to withdraw their funds from the exchange but this goes to still repeat that it’s very risky to leave your funds on exchange, sad to see an exchange filling for bankruptcy but what’s the reason for bankruptcy going by the way FTX went bankrupt and the mismanagement of funds it draws attention also to this case.

I would not Trust and do business anymore with a crypto-currency  exchange that has gone bankrupt, I won’t do business with a centralized exchange because I don’t believe in the centralized system.
776  Economy / Economics / Re: Are you Spending Money the Wrong Way in Pursuit of Happiness? on: May 10, 2023, 06:34:10 PM
Happiness has no rule book and what stands as happiness to you may to be the same for me. And one thing I think isn’t right to do is teach people how they are to spend their money.

Quote
li]buy more experiences and fewer material goods[/li]
[li] use your money to benefit others rather than yourself[/li]
[li]buy many small pleasures rather than fewer large ones[/li]
[li]eschew extended warranties and other forms of overpriced insurance[/li]
[li]delay consumption[/li]
[li]consider how peripheral features of your purchases may affect your day-to-day life[/li]
[li] beware of comparison shopping[/li]
[li]pay close attention to the happiness of others[/li]
[/list]
1. You actually can’t buy experience your rather you can go through experience, and this should not stop you from getting the material things you need.

2. I won’t work my ass off only to then use my own money to others and not myself, this would actually be saying the impossible. I believe it’s fine to make your self happy and then be generous enough to impact in the lives of others financially.

In conclusion I don’t see how the list you made would make someone happy rather the person would live a boring life and may never accomplish personal self esteem. You can stop your life just for others.
777  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is buying merit parmited on: May 10, 2023, 05:52:53 PM
No, it's against the rule to buy merit and one should not even think about it. If you remain active and interested in this forum, you will surely lead your way to Higher Ranks quickly.
I am proud of myself as I have reached Legendary within 2 years and some months. Just be active, try to help, be interesting and have your own opinion.
Anyone that engages in merit buying isn’t just going against the forum rules but actually it’s common sense to know you should not buy what you are meant to earn organically. Firstly how much would someone value one merit? And for how long would you be able to consistently keep buying merit.

The negative impact with buying merit isn’t only going to be faced by those engaging in it but also we would he having individuals here at a rank there aren’t meant to be which would in turn affect the competence of the forum.
778  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Crypto Awareness: Bitcoin logos on T-Shirts on: May 09, 2023, 08:12:05 PM
One of the influencer in my country has started the business of selling the shirts with bitcoin logo on it. This will not only help him get some business but at the same time, it is a step towards the crypto awareness.
What the influencer in your country is doing is more of business than it is of passion. I have seen some people share out Bitcoin Mertc for free just for the awareness purposes.

But in this case I can see someone who is trying to use bitcoin popularity for his own good and it’s so sad people are actually taking advantage of that, he is lucky that there one person that has trade marked bitcoin if not that won’t be possible.
779  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: More Calls for Bitcoin Adoption Amidst Transaction Challenges on: May 09, 2023, 06:52:36 PM
I was not expecting the transactions issues we are currently experiencing right now to cause less adoption of bitcoin, I honestly thing we are hyping this transaction history and making mountains out of the whole situation. This present situation isn’t a permanent one.

On the lighter side it’s great seeing adoption push like this one, it goes to show the believe bitcoin is getting from people of different works of life, I would advice anyone showing panic this time due to the transactions fee to relax and plan your transactions properly to avoid unnecessary transactions fee, it would still get back to normal.
780  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will the Ordinals craze cause a UAHF soon? on: May 09, 2023, 06:28:41 PM
Fees on the Bitcoin blockchain have been on the rise ever since Ordinals became a big hit. There's a lot of NFT inscriptions that's making BTC slower and expensive to use. We've already seen some criticism by Bitcoin users all across social networks (Twitter). Last time I've checked, TX fees were as high as $30. It's insane!
It’s been hard trying to send bitcoin after one might have reason the amount of fees they would make on the transactions, but if it’s necessary you need to do.

Looking on the bright side this has helped limit my bitcoin transactions there by it’s been helping me save up some bitcoin, there is always a good side in everything and also looking at the source of the problem in as much as Ordinals being a thing won’t end immediately it would only take a crash and FUD for it to crash.
