761  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Satoshi's coins rights on: January 17, 2017, 11:57:14 AM
For all we know he (SATOSHI) could be moving his coins when quantum computers become threat into a safer quantum proof address, without notifying us.
I was convinced that if quantum computing will become a real threat to existing cryptography solutions, then bitcoin protocol will be automatically updated to reflect that.
Do I really would have to move my coins to another quantum proof address in that happen as many of you suggesting? There is no feasible automatic way to prevent that?
Need of manual update (in this case moving coins by hand) seems like huge security threat for every abandoned/lost coin - many BTC users might leave because of that.

If Satoshi voluntarily burned the coins, this problem would be solved, but this seems unlikely.
Would you burn your coins to solve that 'problem'?
762  Economy / Services / Re: QTUM Signature and Avatar Campaign on: January 16, 2017, 03:19:26 PM
Actually I have no problem with 8 posts rule, it can stay (although I think it is still a waste of time to check every single participant everyday just to count posts).
I have problem with that rule only because it is being enforced based on +8 timezone, which is far from this forum's default timezone.
IMO using forum's timezone should be a priority here if you really want to impose rules like these.

EDIT: What @Victorycoin said is exactly my point too.
763  Economy / Gambling / Re: MONTHLY BEST GAMBLING SITE (JANUARY) on: January 16, 2017, 02:53:15 PM
I will vote only on sportsbet.io - I know that they not necessary have the best odds among other sports books but I simply like their clear and well-designed interface.
I never had any problems with their service so far. Plus, I would like to see something else directbet.eu on the podium for once.
764  Economy / Services / Re: QTUM Signature and Avatar Campaign on: January 16, 2017, 02:43:05 PM
It's just a way of the manager to limit the spam, part of the rules are as follows..

• Maximum Post is 40 per week.
• Maximum of 8 post counted per day.

If you see it, 40 max posts per week can only be done in 5 days and there should be no problem whatever country we are living. For sure you can do it in the morning base on your timezone if you prefer. I think this week is just a little short as it not all of us were accepted during the first day of the announcement. However, I am sure the next week, it should be fair for us and the 5 days a week requirement is very doable.
I know what these rules are meant for but I am not convinced is is the right thing to force on people, if someone is writing low quality posts, with this rule he/she will just post in shorter burst,
with the same quality level. This is what this rule will accomplish. Do you honestly think that making people exactly post 8, not 10, not 5 or 7 posts will suddenly make people write more constructive posts?
Instead, rule preventing people from posting majority of their posts in 1 or 2 days should be totally fine here, it was used many time before with great effects. Plus it is easier for manager to check this.

About my posting habits: maybe I can post early in the morning maybe I can't, but that shouldn't be something that is decided for me, but rather it ought to my own choice.
Good post is a good post no matter when it has been written.  It is QTUM's campaign and these are theirs rules, if they won't change them that is fine, it's their choice.
But I've never seen something like that being force on people and I honestly believe this is rather unnecessary evolution of a signature campaigns rules here, basically robbing people from their posting freedom...
765  Economy / Services / Re: QTUM Signature and Avatar Campaign on: January 16, 2017, 02:02:17 PM
Spreadsheet Is now updated. If you don't see your username in the spreadsheet you know what does it mean Denied.

Everyone who accepted last Sunday and today Monday will be start posting tomorrow. You will be in round 2 in this campaign.
About the daily post count, you need to change your Timezone to +8 GMT so that we have the same post count.
1st payment for this campaign will be tomorrow and 7 pm +8 Timezone.

Cut off will be every Monday 11;59 PM +8 Timezone! Thanks Ipwich for this! LOL

And we have a new rate for every rank but I need to confirm that Smiley So stay tuned.

Regards

Some of my thoughts:
1. I think enforcing 8 posts per day rule is an overkill.
2. It is too much hassle to check every participant everyday and count posts, it is a counterproductive waste of your time.
3. What would be sufficient, is this rule: Large percentage of posts can't be burst posted in one day i.e. 80% posts written in 1 day is unacceptable.
4. I don't think it is professional to force everyone to use your timezone, if fact I think we all should be forced to accept Bitcointalk's timezone (UTC). It is more fair that way.
5. I posted 8 posts during a day and now I see that you counted only 5 of them. So where are these posts? In limbo, lost forever? Just because you counted it according to your timezone?
6. So as long as I want to met posts requirements for this campaign I need to post during night or early morning hours? It is a first time I see a campaign forcing rule like this on bitcointalk.

766  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2017-01-16] Bitcoin ATM Bandits Threaten Rivals With Death on: January 16, 2017, 01:38:07 PM
They are harming bitcoin more than anything. When news about possible 'bitcoin mafia' being in control of BTMs will spread Bitcoin's name may be soiled in a process.
Idiots will be idiots no matter what. I am surprised that Bitcoin enthusiasts are so shortsighted have zero imagination of what could happen after rampage like that.
767  Economy / Speculation / Re: 780 broken.. 500 .. maybe even 220-240 again... ? on: January 16, 2017, 01:13:25 PM
What bothers me most are not general public somewhat negative stance towards bitcoin - which is understandable because they are uneducated in this matter.
But I can't believe that some old time members of crypto community are so pessimistic and FUD-susceptible.

Last dump was caused by overreaction (like always) and after initial news that Chinese government will try to 'regulate' exchanges there is ZERO indication that stricter restrictions would be put in place.
The dump and downward trend is OVER!
768  Economy / Speculation / Re: When to expect the next big drop in BTC? on: January 16, 2017, 12:54:22 PM
It's holding better than I though, when it broke the 780s I got to think it was going under 700s but it didn't

Me too, honestly I didn't expect it to rebound back past $800 so fast. I getting my funds ready for a buy-back into the market again.
It is because nothing groundbreaking really happened. Dump was caused by FUD that China will ban bitcoin completely and maybe even confiscate BTC being kept by exchanges
As always bad news travel fast and hit hard, when traders noticed that they decided to hold their positions.
769  Economy / Speculation / Re: Who made big money? on: January 16, 2017, 12:36:26 PM
Op, If you think that $300 profit from 1 BTC is a big money then fine. But I think BTC has so much potential that selling it now is a waste.
I expect price of BTC to be a lot higher than $1100 in near future so I am not bothered with ~$300 price spikes.
770  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Daily use of bitcoin? on: January 16, 2017, 12:13:32 PM
I don't think there is a need to wait for the confirmation, if a fee recommended or little above is paid you'll get faster confirmations. Other than this once after sending the receiver end gets the transacted amount under the unconfirmed transaction list. This itself helps the receiver a hope of receiving the payment.

How fast is the fastest confirmation of payments? And how much to pay for quick approval?
Bitcoin blocks are generates every 10 minutes, so in theory as long as you are using proper fee your transaction should be included as confirmed in the next mined block.
But usually with standard fee your transaction might have a delay between 1-3 blocks.
Miners will usually incorporate transactions with the highest fee/byte ratio first so the higher your fee is, the faster your tx will be confirmed.

If you want to check which fee should you use, check this site: https://bitcoinfees.21.co/
771  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Should Bitcoin be discussed in Davos? on: January 16, 2017, 11:46:58 AM
People are the problem, not the bitcoin, FIAT or any other asset. Fiat in its concept is fine as long as it is used correctly, quantitative easing is what made it bad.
Printing money and devaluation of fiat is the main reason fiat money become synonym of corrupted economic elites.

Bitcoin can't help poor people any more that any other currency. Only people can. Do you think that these rich oligarchs will share their wealth? Dream on.
772  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: If you could create your own Bitcoin gambling site, what would you do better? on: January 16, 2017, 11:40:45 AM
I will try to develop some PVP games since there ain't many games like this. Chess will definitely my choice and I am still working on how to attract people to my gambling site. PvP are awesome but usually people do not like them because they consume too much time and it is not good for person who love earning fast money
Can I ask you how can you prevent people from cheating by using Chess programs?
Chess is so popular that anyone can access very strong Chess bots, in the end your Chess pvp service will become arena of bots playing with each other.
773  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: If you could create your own Bitcoin gambling site, what would you do better? on: January 15, 2017, 05:26:53 PM
I want to do everything better. Yes, I like to create a pure player vs player gambling site.

My in-plan features will be :
- Open source based.
- There will be no house edge.
- There will be withdraw fee (if min withdraw is 0.01 btc then fee would be 0.001 btc)
- After a round of game, the winner alone needs to pay small percentage in profits as fee to house.

Round fee and withdraw fee are only income generation methods for the gambling house for its survival and maintenance.
PvP games by design can't have House Edge, since you are not playing against the House. The amount of fees you depicted is far worse that usual player vs. house games.
Open sourcing casino script is not wise IMO. Casino is not service of public utility and I wouldn't risk that my work will be copied and used without my consent.
774  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin in the classroom, yes or no and why? on: January 15, 2017, 05:13:38 PM
I find the idea of bitcoin used as study help very interesting and needed. But who is gonna teach kids with the help of bitcoin analogy when most people have no idea what BTC is?
We need to increase all social awareness, and we will find bitcoin in our math books instead of standard and ancient math problems constructed around counting apples.
775  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Market Panic can drive BTC prices Lower on: January 15, 2017, 04:55:53 PM
Op, you are completly right, but there is fundamental problem with bad vs. good news effect on everything, bitcoin market included.
We need 4x, 5x more positive news or some HUGE bomb dropped to diminish even slight negative news. Look what happened in China - they just started to use AML/KYC, no big deal right?
But it caused whole Chinese market to go crazy.
776  Economy / Speculation / Re: Do you think we will break the $2000 mark some day? on: January 15, 2017, 03:29:22 PM
$2000 is perfectly feasible scenario. I am still believing that bitcoin startups/projects announced for 2017 will boost bitcoin price.
All we really do is ONE serious business project - like Winklevoss ETF, but unfortunately SEC delayed their decision again and set new deadline for 11th March.
SEC should approve ETF in the end, but  amount of delays is staggering... It is like SEC will know that it will be groundbreaking project and try to stop it.
777  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Bubble 3.0 on: January 15, 2017, 01:04:36 PM
It's more like:

1. Rally to $266
2. Rally to $1300
3. Rally to $35000
Your point 3. is not happening during our life time. Not if I base my observations on Bitcoin history so far. Even if investors will be able to start pushing the price so high that race will be doomed sooner or later.
We already have seen seen what it will be: bitcoin will gain momentum price will rise, ready to break ATH and as result Chinese, American (pick your country) central banks will prepare warning and say that bitcoin is not and never will be legal tender or even a currency. Then it will be a crash... Just like the last time 2 weeks ago.
778  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2017-01-14]Nigeria Warned its Citizens About Onecoin and Bitcoin This Week on: January 15, 2017, 12:56:42 PM
What I found the most idiotic about this warning is they way Nigerian authorities put OneCoin (clearly some shitty scamcoin, designed to make its creator rich) in the same sentence with bitcoin.
It will give people fake insight that every cryptocurrency is the same and Bitcoin is no better that Onecoin. BTW will they issue warning against their own FIAT currency? Because it is the most unstable asset here IMO.
779  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Reason Bitcoin will always be #1 on: January 15, 2017, 12:47:25 PM
I think it do not depend the name but it depend on the features and the trust on it. It is the first cryptocurrency coming to the internet and then people started to use it and then they knew that it is the most secure currency out of all other coins and so it is still No.1
It is not like that. Following your logic - every pioneer and first attempt of creating something should be the best and everything coming after would be inferior copy.
We clearly know that is is not the case: Facebook wasn't original social network and Google wasn't the first internet search engine and they are number 1 services today despite coming late to the table.
780  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: which web wallet to use? on: January 15, 2017, 12:18:24 PM
Coinbase is definitely not a good idea , Its an exchange and they don't give you control over the private keys , they are providing data to IRS at the moment so Its not wise to use them at this point.
I started using BTC WALLET a while ago and I must say Its a very good wallet and I never had any problems with it so you should really check it out. I always used to use GreenAdress in the past and Its good too.
I don't recommend Coinbase and Xapo. These two wallets have very restrictive ToS, everyday I see someone complaining about frozen wallet or suspended account.
For example: "Xapo reserves the right in its sole discretion to temporarily or permanently suspend accounts"... just like that... You are not using BTC to be subject to restrictions like this.
