761  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Who is top bitcoin competitor? on: January 28, 2024, 11:45:16 AM
Don't be apologetic this is a valid question you have asked as when we were new to Bitcoin and this forum we had similar questions in our mind.

First thing why government cannot compete with Bitcoin is because government wants to control everything and keep a track of it but with decentralization it's not possible and that's the reason Bitcoin was created and that's why government and bankers are against Bitcoin because they cannot control your finances as Bitcoin or decentralization in general removes any third party from the transaction. But they are upto something just to fool the users but they will never be successful.
762  Economy / Economics / Re: China’s Debt-to-GDP Ratio Rises a Record of 286.1% on: January 28, 2024, 11:27:21 AM
There is an old saying that says "he who digs a hole under someone else will fall into it himself" - and if we take into account that the theory is that the Chinese deliberately (or accidentally) released the virus from the laboratory in order to shake the world economy (or something worse), it seems that they have created huge problems for themselves.

I personally not surprised that they are doing so badly, considering that I lived in a communist creation that first collapsed economically, and then a bloody war was directed in which robbers looted "social property" while ordinary people died in the war - some to save their lives, others to conquer other people's territory and kill as many people as possible.

I always wonder if I will see the Chinese rebel against the CP and become some kind of democracy, or if a lot of water will flow through the Yangtze before that happens.

Now we just have to wait for those who think that the Chinese would be much better off (economically) if they didn't ban Bitcoin, and hope that they learned the difference between a billion and a trillion Wink

There is more to come as China has messed up big time and it has so many policies which goes against humanity it won't require any other nation to topple China but it's own domestic issues, China has created so much of discontent amongst it's citizens and it's surrounded by issues like inhumane treatment of Uyghur (Occupied East Turkestan), Declining population (ageing population) due to it's strict one child policy which seems to be relaxed now, it's frequent stand off with India and controversies surrounding Taiwan. These issues are just waiting to burst and it would be bad for China.
763  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: What altcoins do you think are currently still cheap but have good potential for on: January 28, 2024, 10:52:06 AM
Most of altcoins dump from their position after a certain time. And such situation is seen in low potential altcoins. That's why it is need to hold good alcohol so that they won't drop more when market down. Zilla, fantom 2coins are good in my. Besides Sui, Arbitrum, optimism these altcoins are owning layer-two blockchain and their growth good but still cheap in price. So you can check these altcoins for your investment. Hope these altcoins will react good in long run

Just a friendly advice, never have high hopes in altcoins as they may be good for trading or short term investment but not for long term investment as you are already aware that they are so volatile and they can make or break your portfolio anytime. I would suggest Bitcoin is there for long term but yeah you need to have multiple options with proper grouping like a certain altcoins for daily trade especially those which fluctuates between 1% to 3% on daily basis and then some for short term investments (These should be the ones which has hit rock bottom and started rising back). I have had not so pleasant experience with Altcoin hence requesting to DYOR and be upto date with market insights especially about the coins you have invested into do that you can take appropriate decisions at the right time when it matters the most.
764  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Wrong Moves With Your Bitcoin on: January 28, 2024, 10:41:05 AM
You are making me remember of my friend that has the same reason for disposing and selling his bitcoin. The reason doesn't make sense. He has got bored as well and that led him to sell.

I think that was on 2018 and bored in a way that it was a bear market and prolly he lost hope by that time. A mistake that can no longer be corrected but can still recover somehow through accumulation.

2018 and especially 2019 were the period when people lost hope on Bitcoin as it was an extended bull run and altcoin bloodbath, Bitcoin was under $5k in 2019, I remember so many people selling it off and whales silently buying it and accumulating it. Even now people made same mistakes until recently they sold Bitcoin for under $20k only to regret it now, I think I have learned a good lesson I have started accumulating Bitcoins through DCA and don't withdraw any funds unless it's for emergency purpose and people should learn from previous mistake instead of falling for fuds and panic selling or selling for huge loss.
765  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why ETH, USDT, BNB, SOL and XRP have the highest market capture? on: January 28, 2024, 10:26:00 AM
Have you ever imagined why these 5 cryptocurrencies are in the top? Have you ever thought why a coin like USDT, which being a stablecoin is ranked 3rd on the list of coins with a big  market capture?

None of us thought about it as it doesn't affect us personally as a single investor. The reason is that we consider us first than the market sentiment. Tether being known to be controversial has established it place because it has the trust of its users.

XRP again a controversial coin is ranked 6th after so many legal cases as again it still holds the trust and faith of its community. The same is applicable for the other cryptocurrencies.

What makes me laugh is that all of those crypto as discussed are still consider an altcoin without any significance. They are coins that will not survive long which was predicted about a time after 2017. Yet, they are alive and happening without any difficulties.

Do you think they will survive or no

USDT is still controversial for me as I don't believe in the audit which they provides as there is no clear evidence that they have reserve for the overall trading volume of USDT but it was the only option available to the users to covert their funds to avoid volatility once they have gained profit hence USDT is still there and it will remain as dominant force for a while, ETH will be there I don't see any reason why it shouldn't be in the list, SOL has proved it's worth in last bull run and they way it has pumped up in last quarter of 2023 and due to it's eco system it stands a chance to be on top 10 coins for a while. BNB is simple backed by Binance and it would sustain as long as Binance is in the market but XRP is something which even I am wondering it's centralized, had legal issues and has been one of the worst investments where people have not gained much but wondering how is it even surviving.
766  Local / Marketplace (India) / Re: Crypto arbitrage opportunities 6-8% profit. Make real money! on: January 28, 2024, 10:11:36 AM
Not to disrespect you but crypto arbitrage is a thing of past and we can sustain only through arbitrage now and even I have tried my luck in the past with my own observation of price through different exchanges and also I have even tried premium channels like koinknight but there is no use as we only get false indicators and even if there are any slightest opportunity the transaction fee will eat up your profit.

If you have a proven track record let's share it in this open forum after all this forum has been created for helping each other and discuss on such things.

Note: I would suggest other not to pay anything unless a proof has been shared because telegram stuffs are too shady.
767  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Where i can sell fast 1.0036 bitcoins? on: January 28, 2024, 09:55:30 AM
Best way to do it is through the P2P via any reputed exchanges and you can choose Binance as I have used their P2P services it's quick and safe, also the profiles which are present in P2P have done KYC so that in future if there is any issue related to the transaction you got proof of transactions because sometimes we end up in soup because of P2P transactions as end users are involved in illegal activities or banned group or scammers and chances of our bank account getting freezed are there, If we do it through Binance KYC details are aailable with them and you will not be in trouble.
768  Economy / Speculation / Re: If there was a charge fee in checking in your total Bitcoin values (BTC balance) on: January 28, 2024, 09:44:13 AM
I guess you are talking about US dollars because I haven't heard anything like charges being applied for checking USDT, even if it happens to Bitcoin then obviously people will be paying a lot in the charges because most of the day traders or short term investors will keep checking there balance every now and then as their method of investment requires them to do so and honestly this is something which will never happen only a centralized greedy bankers can think of such extortions in the name of charges.
769  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Wrong Moves With Your Bitcoin on: January 28, 2024, 09:18:48 AM
There has been lot of such instances which I regret right from selling BTC when it was roughly $1000 at the beginning of 2017 and then boom the price reached $20K the same year in December, one more incident which I have repeatedly mentioned in the forum wherein I lost my seed phrase for Blockchain wallet without giving much important considering the price of Bitcoin that time and now I cannot recover it. Also I had converted some of my funds from Bitcoin to a shit coin named Nebilo and lost almost everything and it was not even 10% worth the amount I had invested. These are few of the blunders I have made.
770  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Fight against corruption on: January 27, 2024, 08:34:22 PM
The President can stop corruption but it will be very difficult for him to do it alone.  To stop corruption, people from all sectors, big and small, need cooperation.  But if the administration is much stricter, anything is possible.  However, this is possible only in a few countries because almost all countries are corrupt.  It has now become a global disease.
The president have the power to reduce corruption in a country, it might not be really easy to do like in a country where every system and sector is corrupt . The president can make it work by fighting corruption if he can only lead by example, but if the president is corrupt on his own I don't think it will be possible for him to stop corruption.  When the federal government is corrupt every system and and sectors will also learn how to be corrupt just like the people at the top of the government.

Yes it's not as easy as it looks or how people pretend it to be, Corruption is everywhere be it democracy or dictatorship/military rule because corruption is not something limited to certain group or party it's everywhere and it's in our mindset. I have a slightly different take on corruption and how it can be eradicated. It can start with us educating our kids and nourishing them with good ethics and moral value by teaching them how to stay away from corruption and shouldn't put the greed in their mindset because corruption start with greed and if we religiously follow this then may be after a generation we may see it gradually reducing and this has to be practiced by everyone which is not possible as the corrupt people will never teach these things to their kids. Or everything should be made public like the cost of tenders, council works and the amount they have in coffer and the amount spent on public work should be published over blockchain so that everyone can have visibility as this will bring accountability to every single penny as corruption is done for money which cannot be accounted.
771  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How much Did you like this forum on: January 27, 2024, 08:18:29 PM
This is forum is one of the best thing happened to me and I am still grateful for the person who introduced me to this forum as this forum is like a knowledge base or knowledge management tool for all the crypto and trading related doubts and whatever help or suggestion one need they can get answer here as it's already discussed in the forum from where we can fetch the details or we can create new thread on it. I am sure everyone will agree with the point that this forum has not only helped us in excelling out knowledge but also provided us with a lot of earning potentials be it signature campaigns, airdrops and the job related posts, though this forum is not primarily used for earning potential but it does provide us with the opportunities.
772  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Where may we likely see BTC post halving? on: January 27, 2024, 08:03:07 PM
I don't want to comment much of Spot ETF as we were aware it won't have much impact on Bitcoin's price and it worked out exactly the same way and as far as last chance to buy and hodl, I am suggesting everyone to start accumulating from now onwards because one fine day you will will woke up and see Bitcoin rice sky rocketing and we will be in dilemma whether to invest into bitcoin or not as FOMO and fear of sudden dump will not give us time to take appropriate decision hence let's start filling our wallet with Bitcoin gradually so that we can sell it during bull run which is expected around 2025.
773  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: How do you feel about market recovery on: January 27, 2024, 07:49:45 PM
Everyone will definitely be happy to see the market improving, all projects are starting to be able to carry out their development, some projects may have been very disturbed by the market conditions during the bear period, and now they are slowly improving.
true. Everyone like the environment where crypto marke getting pump or Start recovering from a point where it stop itself to dump more. Although market was going well due to ETF approval of BTC, but suddenly market go to correction period. Although a months before, market condition wasn't good enough but now Atleast altcoins are trying to pump which makes people happy. And it'll be more interesting when bull market will start with its full power.
If we see a green market it makes us happy, especially if we have invested before, so we can see an increase in profits, but this often happens afterward when the market makes a correction, making us confused. Therefore, being calm and waiting for the real bullish season to come would be better. We will be grateful if it happens sooner than we thought, but if it happens later than we thought we will remain calm

You are talking about market fluctuation which will always be there but the most important thing which matters the most is the time when we have invested. Because, if you have invested during the peak it would obviously go red when the correction phase happens and post price hitting the bottom of correction phase it would start rebounding which may confuse users as they would be in loss and market will be in green hence timing matters a lot and we would be able to master it only through our own research. I think until we wait for bull run we can buy bitcoins on every dip which happens before the bull run.
774  Local / Off-topic (Naija) / Re: All professions are important on: January 27, 2024, 07:41:30 PM
I vouch for this way of thinking because we need to understand that people or class cannot be determined by their profession but unfortunately it's happening globally as people kind of look down at those who are skilled labors or daily wage labors and so does the society as they are more hardworking than an average person who sits in office and work 9 hours in a comfortable set up but still they get paid very less and I have made a similar post highlighting about how we are neglecting them and being bias here when it comes to the payscale as well.

My post in regards to the same but on the scale of salary : https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5478162.msg63336150#msg63336150
775  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ripple looking for ETF, would it be the second one? on: January 27, 2024, 07:22:22 PM
They can easily get approval for ETF but the real question is who will trust them? How does it matter to us? As you have rightly mentioned we are aware of Ripple's centralization and unlimited supply and it had its peak back in 2017 since then it's in hibernation and has only caused loses to whoever have trusted in this project and invested. I don't think people would like to give it a chance once again and ETF approval may not have much impact of Ripple.
776  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin Island in the Philippines, Have you ever been there? on: January 27, 2024, 07:04:40 PM
I wonder how come I was unaware of such things till date, this is really cool and something which will boost the usage of Bitcoin for its original purpose instead of just investment, hope more countries or atleast tourist places follow the same stuff. But, I don't think this would have much impact on economy of the country because apart from a choice of paying through decentralised way we are not offering any investment sort of thing but yeah people will spend more money as it's through Bitcoin because converting crypto to fiat and then international exchange for foreign currency is an hassle but this would resolve the hassle part.
777  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: No one has gone broke taking profits, always take profits. on: January 27, 2024, 05:51:43 PM
Yes, he's right. after all, no one goes bankrupt from taking profits. However, people sometimes don't know when to stop. In fact, when they have made a profit, the feeling of wanting to hold back to get a bigger profit will always be there. This will be realized when prices start to fall. However, this method will work when we have a strategy in determining the minimum profit, so that when the profit we have approaches the minimum limit, we must immediately make a decision to make that decision.

You have called out the major problem which is people still don't follow take profit as they wait and expect for more profit but they don't realize that market cannot keep going on upward trend and once the market fluctuates they either cashout for lesser profit or sell off when the start incurring loss. They need to plan one being a proper strategy about the percentage of profit and number of trade to set take profit. Most of the experience traders do have short profit margins with multiple trades but amateur fall for trap of higher profit thus losing it.
778  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bullrun top on: January 27, 2024, 05:37:57 PM
Correct me if I'm wrong, but Bitcoin normally reaches previous cycle's ATH during the halving year. Then why do you think we're not going to exceed last cycle's ATH this year?

See here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5375808.msg63374431#msg63374431

Its never been less than a year from halving to subsequent high:

I think he was referring to the previous cycle's ATH, not the new ATH.  So, the right question would be, considering previous cycles, do we expect 69k by the end of this year?

Hey the question remains the same because $69k is the current ATH which was achieved in last cycle hence the question would be Bitcoin breaches it's previous ATH and reaches new ATH in the halving year. The answer would be "NO", Bitcoin doesn't breach the previous ATH in the halving year but rather the following year and I think the cycle will repeat and Bitcoin might not break $69k this year since 2024 is the halving year. It should eventually happen in 2025.

Well, if we look at it historically, I don't think that's entirely true.

In the 2012 halving, Bitcoin was still in its early stages of development, and adoption was much much lower.

First halving cycle (November 2012 - July 2016) - Highest price $1,170 (November 2013)

In the 2016 halving, Bitcoin had gained more traction, and adoption was increasing. The price reached $1040 in 2016, which was still below the previous all-time high from 2013, but very close. The price reached a new ATH in February 2017.

Second halving cycle (July 2016 - May 2020) - Highest price $19,400 (December 2017)

The price reached $20,000 in 2020 (after the third halving), which surpassed the previous all-time high from 2017. The closing price for BTC in 2020 was $28,994.00, on December 31, which is almost a 50% increase compared to the previous ATH.

So if history repeats itself, we could even see >100k by the end of this year.

sources:
https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/bitcoin/
https://www.statmuse.com/money/ask/bitcoin-price

Well it's pretty much possible if history repeats itself but if Bitcoin breaches previous ATH then the expectations of bull run will be ignited further and $100k will break hell loose as it would be an historic landmark figure which has been predicted for a while. All I would say is that we can expect a repeat of previous cycles but need to be ready for any outcome and have alternative plans in place as crypto is highly unpredictable and there is no guarantee that same trend may repeat though I believe we will see history repeating.
779  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why the rush to gain profit in crypto? on: January 27, 2024, 05:22:17 PM
This is a common perspective due to which people end up losing money as they dive into the ocean of crypto with very little knowledge as little knowledge is too dangerous because that's when we end up making blunders after blunder. People need to stop being lazy greedy and start doing their own analysis and stop believing in the crypto influencers I mean fake influencers because people expect easy money assuming these influencer because people don't want to put their efforts and time to know about crypto and how it works all they need is a signal which can make them rich. It's high time as we are discussing about bullrun there would be new influences or so called experts born every now and then especially during bull run we need to avoid them and do our research if we don't want to end up as a loser.
780  Other / Politics & Society / Re: News: Supreme Court allows border agents to remove razor wire in Texas on: January 26, 2024, 10:15:32 PM
I guess the entire Europe and west is facing the immigrant inflow issue and in the last ten years  it has increased by multifold because of so many wars and conflicts which has taken place and instead of trying to find a way to curb them it they should be welcomed and an opportunity should be provided to them because most of them has been escaping wars, terrorism, poverty and hunger in their natives. These boundaries are created to divide us let's just follow one race as humanity.

I know this sounds weird but we are just making heir life more miserable and feeding them to human trafficking gangs by creating restrictions.
