761  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Dollar Cost Averaging with costavg.com include exchange fee on: October 25, 2023, 10:00:25 AM
It is a trading strategy and the conditions for its use may differ from one user to another and from time to time. If I had $17,000 and I had the option to invest now and buy half a Bitcoin, or to invest 1k/month for 17 months, then inevitably investing $17,000 now and buying half a Bitcoin would achieve a higher return than the investment. This amount is spread over several months, and this text will vary completely according to the market situation.

DCA is an excellent strategy and achieves a good return on investment, but it is not the best strategy for all times.
762  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: A New Perspective on Blockchain / Improving Colored Coins Idea on: October 25, 2023, 09:43:51 AM
Using Bitcoin as a ladder to climb up high and be seen, is not cool. Find something else to climb.
If side networks were developed, such ideas could be built, such as a third-layer network, but in any case, assigning a new value or a new token represents the transition from Bitcoin to altcoins, as long as that token is not Bitcoin or a mechanism for locking Bitcoin.

Projects based on these ideas require time for adoption, which may not happen, so the best solution is to wait to open new possibilities through side networks.
763  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: List Of Scam websites by Learn Bitcoin on: October 25, 2023, 08:52:03 AM
A daily update is not necessary, it would then be at the level of a regular job. Once per week or even a month is enough.
It will be like someone fighting with closed eyes. Anti-virus programs have lists of scam sites, but they need to be updated on an almost daily basis because those scam sites create hundreds of these sites daily. Updating them every week or every month means that this list will always be out of date.
But I agree with you that if it saves money for at least one user, it is a successful result.
764  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: What could be the cause of this? on: October 25, 2023, 08:17:34 AM
I just had to uninstall the blue wallet, install it back directly from the Play Store, do the wallet importations back, and allow the balance to load and reflect by itself. Everything appears to have worked normally now, and the coins have been sent out just waiting for blockchain confirmation; they're already showing on the new wallet as incoming unconfirmed transactions, so we are all good and the issue is solved.
It seems that the reinstallation led you to connect to another server. The problem is a connection problem either from your ISP or there was a problem with the server you are connecting from.
The solutions are to change the server or change the IP address, either by using a VPN or reactivating the Internet connection.
765  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: GUIDE:Important factors to take into account while choosing a wallet on: October 25, 2023, 08:10:22 AM
when it comes to the choice of wallet, always make sure that it is open source.
This part may be a little tricky specially if the "company" behind the wallet is trying to fool people. There are a couple of ways closed source wallets use to pretend they are open source.
A scammer may publish the code and it may be identical to the version you are using, but scamming based on people trusting that the code is open source = security. he may make all nodes only connect to closed source software or set back doors.
In an industry built on trust, having two open source wallets with good programming and an active developer team is much better than having thousands of options that we cannot trust.
766  Economy / Economics / Re: What does being rich mean in your perspective? on: October 24, 2023, 10:01:12 AM
Wealth is a simple word and we hear it since we were children, but it does not have a single or disciplined definition and it changes with changing countries or economic conditions, but I can say that the simplest definition would be “to be able to do whatever you want, whenever you want, and to buy or travel freely without being worried.” "On the basics of life for at least 10 years."
The value varies according to your country. In some countries, the amount of one million dollars is sufficient to fulfill the condition above, and in some countries you are rich, and in some countries you need 100 million.
Being wealthy is a great thing, but psychological, emotional, and physical integrity is necessary to feel happy.
767  Other / Meta / Re: Wallet Software Board Need General Wallet Thread - Complicated Task For Admin on: October 24, 2023, 09:49:37 AM
The only change is that [General] Bitcoin Wallets - Which, what, why need to be updated or reformulated. So that it contains more information and updates existing information, during the last two years good software has been developed that can be used instead of relying on web wallets or closed source wallets.
Updating these services is important because even https://bitcoin.org/en/choose-your-wallet offers poor suggestions.
768  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Man Who Stole Over 51,680 Bitcoin on: October 24, 2023, 09:22:00 AM
I thought that all the Bitcoin seized by the United States government was from Silk Road back and not from hackers who stole it from them.
The prison term is not long. Cases like this are sentenced to imprisonment for dozens of years, but it appears that the amount was not much at the time of the trial and it appears that the accusation was of tax evasion.
It is strange how a person like this could make the beginner's mistake of sending $600 to the KYC process account with the personal address attached.
The report did not mention whether these bitcoins were sold.
769  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Low trading fee on MEXC on: October 24, 2023, 08:57:22 AM
The last exchange that announced zero fees ended up in bankruptcy, which was FTX.
MEXC does not necessarily to make profits from fees. They can impose hidden fees, high withdrawal fees, or offers for a temporary period to attract more users, but in the end, do not use them because the fees are just low. Look for trading volumes, listed assets, identity verification procedures, and the possibility of their bankruptcy.
770  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Change e-mail in MERCATOX long wait no results on: October 24, 2023, 08:34:01 AM
Sad to hear that @OP, I suggest you should create a scam accusation against them by providing the evidence you have because they have an account in this forum MERCATOX but they only get a negative feedback without any flag.

If they get more negative feedback and active type 3 flag, it will make everyone who made research will know if this exchange must be avoid.

There are no scam accusations, the user has not reported a loss or the inability to login, he can access his account but needs to change the e-mail due to the loss of access to the old email.

Some exchanges are slightly strict when you cannot reach the old email, even after providing the necessary data, they are a little late to ensure that every things is Ok, a week or two is enough to solve this problem and contact them every week.

If they do not respond within two weeks, consider using alternatives.
771  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Dont use bright funded(in my opinion a scam ) on: October 24, 2023, 08:21:16 AM

Also, a few days ago I was uploading a review to trust pilot and magicamnete raised its number of reviews from 13 to 30 a considerable number and it is very rare that a company that has just started can have those reviews in a matter of minutes.

If reviews appeared suddenly, all of them positive with negative feedback, and then any new reviews stopped, so it is more likely that it is paid and it cannot be taken seriously.

You got a reply from CEO - Brightfunded, to see what the discussion will be but their use of DX.Trade to Create exchange does not necessarily mean they are scammer.

Should you have further questions or concerns, you can always reach out to me directly at jelle@brightfunded.com. I would be happy to schedule a call to discuss your feedback. While your experience seems to be an outlier, we always welcome and appreciate feedback.

Why does the user need to pay 95 euros as refundable fee if it will return to him again?
you mentioned that any trading will get a BRIGHTFUNDED tokens, so how to avoid creating fake trading volumes to get more tokens?
772  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Ryder One - Worst Hardware wallet ever? on: October 24, 2023, 06:13:05 AM
It seems that there is a fingerprint sensor used with the Ryder One to sign the message and broadcast it via phone, meaning that you are the only one able to broadcast the transaction or use your phone with the Ryder Recovery Tag as two Shamir Secret Sharing or purchase several Recovery Tags (the product comes with only one) and distribute them to your friends.

Their design is flawed, there is a single point of failure which is Ryder One, and I do not know if the user will be able to access the coins if there is a problem with that device.
Recovery Tags: Accessing them means accessing your currencies, and there is no additional security option such as Passphrases and hidden wallets.
The code is closed source.
wallet is expensive and you need to purchase additional Recovery Tags.

773  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: List Of Scam websites by Learn Bitcoin on: October 24, 2023, 05:45:10 AM
Well, I thought I would create a topic to let everyone know that a domain is a scam website, but then I figured out there are many of them. So, If I create one topic for one scam website, the scam accusation board will be filled with these topics. I noticed some users created their thread where they combine those scam websites lists and let this community know about those websites. See the example above posted by examplens.

If you noticed, most of those who created such lists stopped, either because they needed daily updating or because their search was not in-depth with all scam services and sites. I see that such lists give a false sense of security, as I will search through them, and if I do not find the site in one of these lists, this does not mean that it is safe.
If you have time and can update it daily, I suggest dividing it into several subsections, such as HYIP sites, cloud mining, mixers, scam altcoins, Ponzi, or any appropriate subdivision.

The same on the @LeGaulois thread [ https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5381839.0 ]. Perhaps it is good to see if you will compile them all at once in one thread.

The last update was about a month ago, although it is only concerned with mixing services and not all scam.
774  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Careful scammers and hackers using mail spoofing on: October 23, 2023, 07:08:55 PM
I prefer to use a separate computer/phone for sensitive data so that I avoid downloading any software on that computer and be careful to only visit sites I trust.

check on "I am pwned" https://haveibeenpwned.com/ if your address ended up in any of the hacked account databases (and which password they recovered).
As much as these services are good, there is nothing preventing them from registering your email address and selling it. If there is an open source service, and you can host it self-hosted with an hourly update to the database, then we can guarantee that such services will not be registered or misused.
775  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Buttons and tools on: October 23, 2023, 06:28:09 PM
Note!!; this thread may not carry all "hidden" functions or buttons therefore any additional information would be appreciated.

We cannot describe them as “hidden” functions or buttons, but they are unused or difficult to notice.
Some of these features I know for the first time, such as https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=unread;board=1.0

776  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: A more scientific mindset is necessary to avoid scams. on: October 23, 2023, 06:16:53 PM
That was about 2019 or whatever year. Now we are all talking about AI and about how AI will revolutionize stuff (or just @#$% everything up). You may also observe that Bitcoin uses a lot of energy.

There is no contradictory link between Bitcoin and artificial intelligence, the two can be a revolutionary technology. It is not coal versus oil versus alternative energies, or artificial intelligence, robots and manual labor.

Bitcoin's intense energy consumption is one of the topics that has been discussed a lot, and the search option will show you hundreds of topics.

have attracted an anti-scientific community that is highly susceptible to scams and bubbles. The entire cryptocurrency community would be much less hateworthy if it was not so attracted to scammery and was smart enough to like science.

There are no direct links between Bitcoin and fraud. It is true that there is some connection between cryptocurrencies and fraud, but with a little observation, you will find a big difference between Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies.
777  Economy / Economics / Re: Would You want to See a Corralón Type Economic Measure in Your Country? on: October 23, 2023, 05:57:51 PM
I have not heard of Corralón, and I will read about it later to learn more, but copying and pasting or repeating economic solutions will not lead to good results. Every country has a unique economy and economic problems, and repeating the appropriate solution does not mean that it is the appropriate solution for all countries or similar situations.

The world is changing rapidly, and the solutions must differ accordingly. I do not think that my country will repeat the same solutions, but the economic crises have become much deeper, which makes the cost of fighting hyperinflation and taking any solutions to them a priority, no matter how harsh.
778  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Protect yourself from fake wallet software (guide) on: October 23, 2023, 05:40:12 PM
I would like to add: You must obtain (Fingerprint) GPG public keys from an independent source or not linked to the domain from which you download the site, as hackers can place a phishing link or hack the domain and change the GPG public keys from the official domain.

I don't know if we can consider Github to be an independent source, but you can find BitcoinCore GPG keys https://github.com/bitcoin-core/guix.sigs/tree/main/builder-keys

779  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: GUIDE:Important factors to take into account while choosing a wallet on: October 23, 2023, 05:19:33 PM
  • Open source: There has been a lot of debate about the source of wallets and how safe they are, the majority of bitcoiners prefer an open-source wallet and not because an open source is the safest.
being open source is good, but it is necessary to verify the signature and make sure that the wallet you created usin the same binary code that appears in the open source code and that the code has been reviewed thousands of times.

Standard recovery seed phrase: To have access to any wallet, you first need to have the seed phrase or Mnemonic phrase that controls the private keys to coins, no seed phrase, no private keys, this is one the best part of every wallet.

I do not think it is necessary, as we have BitcoinCore that does not provide the option to create a recovery seed phrase. I suggest replacing it by saying good entropy. Sometimes some wallets give 5-6 random words similar to recovery seed, which is not a good wallet.

What I am trying to say: entropy is important, not the number of recovery words.
780  Economy / Speculation / Re: "Mr. Bitcoin is about to go down big." - Jim Cramer on: October 23, 2023, 04:46:22 PM
Whenever Mr. Inverse Cramer opens his mouth about Mr. Bitcoin I know it is a great time to buy in big. Cheesy
I can understand making such statements as news headlines or as a joke, but they are not a tool or methodology for predicting the price of Bitcoin or advice that you can take for investing.
Sometimes they make statements or lie to influence the shares and buy more of them, or they are paid by whales to move the price. you should not take any statement or your investment should be based on statements even if if it elon tweets as we have seen this type a lot in DogeCoin.

The possibility that the price would return to $26,966 (Bitcoin 50-Day SMA) was possible and it is still because the price need to reach $33,577 before we was safely said that we will not return again below $30,000.
