761  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How can i get a functional wallet on: September 15, 2023, 08:48:06 AM
The two replies above gives you the guide on how to create an electrum wallet which is the most reputable wallet that is been used as both hot and cold wallet. But as someone who is new and would like to learn about other wallets too I would advice you read this thread on bitcoin wallets.

Also you didn’t specify which type of wallet you want, the guides above is just for bitcoin only wallet as electrum doesn’t support other coins. For other coins you should use unstoppable wallet. It supports many cryptocurrencies and is open source like electrum wallet
762  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Germany League - Bundesliga Prediction Thread on: September 14, 2023, 10:23:14 PM

When compared to Steven Gerrard, Xabi is better and this has been proven so far. Laverkusen next match will be against the toughest opponent in the Bundesliga, Bayern Munchen which will be a real test for Xabi squad. If they manage to hold a draw, that alone will be good enough for them I think.

We can’t run into conclusions because Xabi Alonso is found to tag him a better manager than Steven Gerrard. Gerrard had a remarkable season at Rangers and won the championship that alone means he has an accolade as a manager than Alonso. Xabi is on a right track with his project at Leverkusen since the he took the job. I hope he gets the league ahead of Bayern this season. The start of this dream will be grounded when they face Bayern. With the inform Boniface will bring the fire to this encounter with him even coming out as the Bundesliga player of the month and also Rookie of the month
763  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2023/24 on: September 14, 2023, 10:02:47 PM

I heard this story from a slightly different side - insiders write that Tuchel dreams of getting rid of Kimmich (because he supposedly slows down the game), while the management and players of Bayern support Kimmich. If Tuchel can strengthen his position at the club then such a transfer will become likely, especially given the fact that Bayern wants to get Raphinha, but in the summer when the exchange of players was discussed, Bayern were against adding Kimmich to the deal.

Kimmich is still a great player and I don’t understand why Tuchel isn’t a fan of him. Yes defensively he is not the type that win challenges like Casemiro esque but he is one that connects the attack and defense and this is similar to the pattern of Xavi himself in the good old days so it is not surprising seeing him have an admiration for him. I don’t see Kimmich leaving Bayern anytime soon because he is the closest thing to been there leader after Nuer and Muller both in the club and the National team. And we all know that Bayern also pays concentration to decision from the nations association before making decisions like this.
You meant to say his replacement is João Palhinha of Fulham, yes he was almost signed and the deal fell apart in the deadline day when Fulham couldn’t find a replacement. Today he just signed a new contract with them keeping him till 2028 which means Bayern might be spending more to get him next transfer window
764  Economy / Speculation / Re: Good time to sell? on: September 13, 2023, 11:02:34 PM
Will be taking profits in batches and that batches will be base on price and not time frame, once it reaches each price target will withdraw certain percentage. For example the price clocks around the current all time high then I will withdraw some percentage of my intended profit and after that will take next profit around 100k.

How do I know if we reached the peak is certainly when the price is doubling the current all time high which would be above 100k at that point I would place my believe of it surpassing that much again and will consider it the peak.
765  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What is your take on Mt. Gox refund ? on: September 13, 2023, 10:01:17 PM
It would be a two way something, when the exchange was hacked in 2014, the price of bitcoin was less than $500 and right now the price is more 50x that price so some people will sell. Also other people will try to hold having in mind that another bull run might be here in one year time so they would like to wait for it. We can’t be certain which way it will go but one thing is any impact that it will be having will definitely be a short term impact and the market will return back to normal.

For me what bothers me on its impact on bitcoin future will be how naive people will address this issue. Some gullible people will have a renewed hope in storing funds in centralized exchanges Because they would believe they can get there funds return after any down fall and would prefer some platforms be their bank other than them holding their money in a non-custodial wallets
766  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How we can sell and store crypto speacialy BTC on: September 13, 2023, 05:26:08 PM
You can sell or buy through through P2P exchange from someone in your country. Or you can use exchanges to buy and sell, there are many types of these exchanges where you can buy and sell with your fellow country traders. Here are list of non KYC exchanges
767  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: This is How to Avoid Plagiarism on: September 13, 2023, 04:12:00 PM
Base on the forum I would say the easiest and simplest way to avoid plagiarism is to cite or reference the source or author no to long talk about that.

On a broader level i would say stick to share only about what you know and if necessary quote direct from a source what you copied. One can easily get caught up if you decide to continually paraphrase other people’s work
768  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Ignore the new Apple toys & Invest in Bitcoin, history always repeat itself. on: September 13, 2023, 05:14:34 AM
So those who want to buy an iPhone these days, it would be better if they invest in Bitcoin. Because currently the price of Bitcoin is also low, it is a good time to invest, it is expected that the price of Bitcoin can reach 100k in 2025. Now instead of buying an iPhone, if you buy Bitcoin with the same amount of money, you can earn the profit of buying 4 iPhones in 2025.
You’re missing the whole point, OP is definitely talking about buying a new brand of iPhone just because it comes out not that he is advising against buying a iPhone in totality. I could decide to buy the iPhone today because it definitely fits my budget and could also have some money to spare purchase bitcoin and that to Me is not bad because we definitely need smartphones and either iPhone or android’s they are expensive ones you just need to settle for the one that fits your budget and not going over the hills because of trend.

Also we can’t be so certain that someone who buys a bitcoin now would be get a profit of like 4x in 2025 even though the possibility of a bull run is certain after halving we can predict any bitcoin price and it is better to just invest what one can lose and if the iPhone money is something you can’t lose then buy the phone to have rest of mind before you invest. Because investing in bitcoin with money one can’t lose causes market panic and forces some to sell early even when bitcoin is down
769  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Another day to take caution of sim swap attack on: September 12, 2023, 06:42:26 PM
How is a sim swap possible?
Here in my country before you request anything from the sim carrier like requesting for sim replacement you need to provide a selfie and submit a few documents for verification. So how does Vitalik Buterin fall to this attack?

Not many countries or network providers actually do sim swap physically like you have stated. Some network providers would just ask for identifications through call and hackers usually would have gotten such informations from either social media platforms or through phishing sites. Another way is there is always staffs working with this network providers that aid this acts. Probably this is what happened to Vitalik
770  Other / Beginners & Help / Another day to take caution of sim swap attack on: September 12, 2023, 05:34:22 PM
Just like not your keys not your coins is repeated on the forum, it seems sim swap attack warning/awareness needs to be spread as such.

It is not news again that co-founder of Ethereum Vitalik Buterin had his twitter(X) account hacked. This lead to a phishing link been posted and many lost their funds.

Now Vitalik himself has come out to said the attack was through his T-Mobile phone number by sim swap and the hacker got access to his X account through requesting for the authentication through phone number.

Vitalik prostrated that he didn’t take the security warning about sim swap serious if not now.

The takeaway is avoid taking authentication through phone numbers alone, but if we look at it accepting authentication through even E-mail is risky so the best act is to avoid storing funds on platforms that requires this.

How to know if your phone number has been swapped.

1. When you notice your network is no longer available

2. When you receive a notification from your network provider about a change of sim

3. When you can not have access to your social media accounts or any online accounts accounts again.

Once you notice one of this then you need to act fast
771  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: All about Emotions on: September 12, 2023, 02:47:09 PM
I don’t find it too necessary since one can easily search on them and they will pop up. But there is no problem gathering them in on place but can you do it in like a tabular form to make it look attractive? This thread guides on how to make a table on the forum.

You can also use the Ratimov Beginners & Help Encyclopedia if you are looking for important threads on the forum.
772  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: If they have the ability why would they sell? on: September 12, 2023, 02:32:59 PM
My common sense is asking me why will they create such group if they know how to be pro traders already? Like why can't they keep this to themselves and keep making their money? Why are they trying to help and getting subscribers in return? Just my own common sense like I've said. What do you have to tell me?
This is not much of a reason that something is not legit because someone could have a certain knowledge of a thing and feels like since many are in need of it he could sell them out, a clear example is trading tutorials but for signal you know you’re in for something dubious most especially if they promise you that you will earn a lot from it. Once the profit they talk about like this is too much just avoid it because nobody loves you that much on the internet to share such a thing with you.

I tried joining a few years ago. I think I paid around 5$ to join into it. To cut the story short, we who joined that crypto trading channel are receiving the signals a few minutes late, and by the time they shared it to us, the coin pumped already, so it's kind of useless. If you want to receive the signals earlier, you need to pay more. Such bullsh*t.

This your story has actually made my curiosity strong again. Most at times I wonder if this people are payed by pump and dump token developers to help them boost the token. You will see them given signals to tokens that are mostly very new, yes I know that this kind of coins are the most volatile ones and Can easily pump but I am strong curiosity that they are paid by the project teams sometimes for some of them
773  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ UEFA Euro 2024 in Germany ⚽ - Qualifiers on: September 11, 2023, 09:54:47 PM
Portugal is not all about Ronaldo, there are a lot of great players in their squad and their attacking power is better than ever. They have a great new generation, players like Ramos, Inacio and Felix are becoming casuals in the team along with Jota, Horta and Silva. This generation has possibility to achieve great things.
About Luxembourg game of course that's not a good opponent and it's not a test for Portugal but still they didn't lose any concentration and scored nine goals. Portugal already guaranteed to qualify after six games without any point loss. I believe they have a fairly good chance in the championship with this squad.

Exactly Luxembourg is not a footballing nation that would be considered a match against Portugal and thereby suggesting that the Portuguese can do without Ronaldo. Ronaldo has a very good scoring record against then and will be biting his tongue on why wasn’t involved in this match. If it was against a competitive nation then we can all say that they would definitely do without Ronaldo but as it stands now nothing because the listed players do not have enough experience to lead the attack in the absence of Ronaldo. So let’s not just be over the hills because of this match, this was what happen against Morocco in the last World Cup where the Fans wanted Ramos to start ahead of Ronaldo because he played well in the previous match before then.
774  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A very strange dust attack or an attempted robbery? on: September 11, 2023, 09:41:11 PM
People selected their address from the transaction history! Why Someone would do that when they could select their address from the receive button. Such careless people are the victims in most of the cases, I think. It is pretty annoying to cross-check every character, so I think name service is the most convenient way for a user. I am not sure if there is any for making transactions with bitcoin or not, but it is pretty popular in EVM-based blockchain.

Name service is definitely a bad idea because it requires a some certain extensions or plugins to save them and generate a name to this alphanumerics. This kind of service is even more dangerous or easy to attack than randomly copying the address. Just like the copy and paste address is prone to keyboard malware’s this also is too. It is more dangerous again because you definitely need to expose your address to the internet, an attacker can also temper with such sites and change the address without you knowing through malware.
775  Economy / Economics / Re: When are you planning to quit? on: September 11, 2023, 02:41:54 PM
Will be quitting when either I am not in existence again or when I can reach out to a device or when I can’t get access to internet again. Aside from this personal views the other ways to quit will be when they shut this place down or probably when bitcoin which is sole reason we are is no longer existing, which I doubt will happen.

The question is: at what age are you planning to quit Bitcointalking? (Some people might quit for newcomers to join).

This isn’t a reason to me that people quit, maybe they are actually tired of here an left but leaving for newbies to join is out of question because there is no limit to the number people that will be here to warrant some leaving before others can join. Also if legendary or old members leave to allow newbies to join who is gonna teach or educate the newbies?
776  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: if it's just entry in ledger then why the smalleest unit is satoshi on: September 11, 2023, 02:31:28 PM
It is the same question as asking why is their no value as less than a cent (a unit of dollar currency). My answer will be because it will be useless to have such denominations. Yes you can write anything on the ledger but it must be significant so having anything less than a satoshi is pure waste, how much will be worth of it.

Satoshi as a unit was just to make investing into bitcoin easier for less rich people, instead of waiting to get a bitcoin you can purchase the units as many as you can.

0.0000000000001 BTC will be like a Milisatoshi and approximately hundred billionth of bitcoin which is definitely not reasonable considering that is worth nothing when you compare it to the price of one bitcoin
777  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin User Just Paid Half a Million Dollars for a Single Transaction on: September 11, 2023, 05:34:52 AM
My question here is:
1. What are the possible reason for such kind of mistake, was this as a result of custom fee configuration where the user was trying to customize the fee to execute the transaction faster and made a mistake of inputting the fee in place of transacted amount and amount to be transacted on the fee option.

This is definitely the obvious reason, Maybe he might have decided to use use 19satoshi and the rate was actually on bitcoin and ended been a bitcoin. This is seriously a costly mistake and could happen to anybody not just someone lacking knowledge Because I don’t believe just a random user could actually have all this bitcoin in their possession if they weren’t knowledgeable

Quote

2. Could there be able possible way of recovering from such an incident? Can those fee be returned to the person by the miners? Or let him just consider everything as his lose and live with it.

Yes there is possibility of getting a return from a the miner, they have been reports before of cases like this. Hopefully if the story trends and it is mined by a reputable miner and they wish to return then they could to the sending address. But if they don’t we can’t actually blame them.

Edit: you can lock the thread since there is a thread about it already
778  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Intra Arbitrage (your thought please) on: September 11, 2023, 05:22:42 AM
Arbitrage can be great for some people, but you need a large amount of funds on at least two or more exchanges. Also, you need be be certain your trading bot doesn't 100% empty your account if not functioning as expected!

This is where the risk of all this things gets worse because you definitely needs to have funds on this exchanges, the exchanges are mostly centralized ones that go off anytime. So just like you said it will be better not to trust one of this exchanges but rather split the funds in different types.

at OP i would advice you learn a lot about arbitrage marketing first before you put your funds any exchange, do not just believe the guide from this exchanges because some are misleading by looking so easy to understand but are not
779  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Bitcoin transaction on: September 09, 2023, 11:11:19 PM
The receiving addresses is Cashapp address, but what about the wallet that you make the transaction from? Cashapp address starts from 1 right? But you make the transaction from bc1 address? The change address will start with bc1.

According to cash app support withdrawal is to  any address but deposits is to the segwit addresses. But the transaction isn’t looking as though he is receiving in segwit address currently because the receiver address from the explorer is certainly a legacy address while the sending address and the corresponding address is both segwit.

Quote
Get the seed phrase or the private key of the the wallet you made the transaction, import the seed phrase or private key on Electrum or a wallet that you can use coin control. Use coin control to spend the coin on the other address that you are seeing on the explorer which is not Cashapp address that starts from 1. Use high fee that can get two transactions included in a black fast because you are making another transaction, making two transactions. With that you pump the fee of the unconfirmed transaction.

Double spending the transaction from the senders end is the only way out now just like you have started but the problem now is, he can only do that if he is not sending from an exchange or any of the wallet that is cannot be imported into electrum

@OP I would advise you take caution of depositing on exchanges like Cash App that holds keys in there custody even if you want to don’t leave your funds there for long, just so you know Not your Keys, Not your coins
780  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: pay-to-taproot multisig wallet? on: September 08, 2023, 04:11:51 PM
Pay-to-taproot addresses for Single sig aren’t even that much to begin with since it is new. The difference with native segwit (Bech32) in terms of transaction fee is not that much In fact. The only place it edges segwit is when there is many inputs compare to outputs.

You can check here to see wallets that fully support P2TR because most of the wallets on your quote do not fully support both sending and receiving using it.

For multi sig try to check the Nunchuk
