761  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BREAKING: Square & Twitter's Boss, Jack Dorsey buys $50M worth of Bitcoin. on: October 08, 2020, 05:36:45 PM
  • Bad news: If more companies keep buying huge stacks of BTC, They might own enough to become manipulative and do things their own way.

It is a free market. Why haven't they done the same with Gold or other scarce assets? It is because they can't and it wouldn't be feasible. A high percentage of Bitcoin supply is held in cold wallets and not kept on exchanges as liquidity. If entity X decides to purchase enough BTC to manipulate the market, the market price would sky rocket before getting 'satisfied'.
762  Economy / Economics / Re: I lost my job, how about you guys? on: October 07, 2020, 07:09:17 PM
I think the economy needs a blend of centralized and decentralized assets as you name them. In capitalism companies need to have profit in order for the economy to thrive. The economic burdens we suffer from COVID are bad not only for traditionals assets, but cryptocurrencies as well. If people don't have money, they won't buy Bitcoin because they don't have the resources. It's simple as that.
763  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Enough is enough! Good bye Bitcoin! on: October 07, 2020, 05:57:55 PM
I'll tell you one reason for HODLing your bitcoins and not selling them. You should look at them from a long-term investment perspective. Even if you can hardly exchange them for KWD, that doesn't mean in the future, if the Bitcoin adoption continues, there won't be a much better payment infrastructure.

This is just my 2 cents.. but not hodling at least a little amount of BTC is a dumb move..
764  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: No stimulus = drop in BTC price? on: October 07, 2020, 05:26:51 AM
Well... Stimulus means free money for the people (for no work) = inflation = dollar has less purchasing power
However I don't think the these news have triggered the minor dip on Bitcoin price. It's just usual fluctuation of the market from my point of view. You know what to do when there is a dip. Wink
765  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Crypto trading P&D groups on: October 06, 2020, 05:33:06 PM
@trueherobtc Look, man.. An advice from a humble wolf: Don't take the shortcut to wealth. It is not worth it. You embark into a caroussel that will waste your time and steer your emotions like nothing else. Put in the work - that is my advice for you.

If you want to trade, do it on your own: follow a course, learn the craft, practice and make your own decisions based on your knowledge and experience. The process is more important than the destination. These are not vain words, but learned from my life journey.
766  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BITCOIN basher, the Liar 'John McAfee' is finally Arrested on: October 06, 2020, 05:19:39 PM
Probably he's just going to bail out..  It is funny how rich people try to evade taxes. They have their life assured, but they don't want to pay taxes. Greed is a powerful emotion, indeed. I mean there are legal ways to postpone taxes. One shouldn't avoid paying taxes just because they think they will be utilized in amoral ways by the government.
767  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: French police arrest terror financing ring that used Bitcoin coupons on: October 06, 2020, 11:52:37 AM
Whenever I hear this kind of news, people reaction is "OMG... they've used Bitcoin to keep their transaction underground, BTC is bad 'cause it facilitates terrorism, etc." and my answer will always be "What do you think CASH is used for? If I remember good there was a study done which said that the ratio of cash used in illegal transactions vs btc is like 99% to 1%.

Bad actors will always find a way to sneak through. Our aim should be to eliminate that human behaviour, not the tools.
768  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Adoption - Climate Change - Internet Access on: October 06, 2020, 06:40:21 AM
Civilizations need time to adapt. Older generations especially in third-world countries are more on the conservative side so it is very though to change how they do trivial things like making payments.
But as generations pass and we push the idea of having a decentralized financial system, one day hopefully we'll have full adoption, but until then I am satisfied with lower percentages as well Wink
769  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Former UKIP Politician Godfrey Bloom Buys His First Bitcoin on: October 05, 2020, 06:17:23 PM
I think Robert Kiyosaki has a big influence on all the people who are buying Bitcoin in addition to precious metals to preserve their wealth.
Glad that Twitter is still the 'go-to' for declaring crypto investments, but yet we could spread the rumour on other social media channels. They don't bite. haha
770  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is a new investment on: October 05, 2020, 12:15:49 PM
Bitcoin is still very volatile for it to be a stable asset. It might have periods of stability, but they are usually followed by violent moves. My OPINION is that cryptocurrencies are a no-brainer investment for pretty much everyone. At least for a few percentages of one's net worth. I mean the risk/reward is pretty asymmetric, but again everyone has their own risk tolerance.

I think people who are skeptic about crypto, should only put 1-10% of their net worth in, but don't expect the rewards to be the same. Wink
771  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Another Elon Musk fake giveaway. on: October 05, 2020, 08:32:51 AM
I don't know who falls for these cheap gimmicks these days, but if these scammers continue to spend their time here creating these impostor accounts and posts it means some people get caught in the net.
I think the only thing we can do is to report these ads to twitter mods.
772  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Is anyone here who made good roi with defi? on: October 03, 2020, 07:03:32 PM
Even if someone in here made that kind of profit, it is not sustainable. If you don't have a recipe for making profits, you will most likely fail to keep them.

You might consider me biased because I haven't got into the DeFi craze, but I hope you see my point. There is no grace in making money from luck. Smiley
773  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What would you prefer? Live casino games or slots? on: October 03, 2020, 04:24:28 PM
Easy pick - live casino games.. Like you said I always prefer skill over luck. You just not get the same satisfaction when waiting for the slots machine to roll some icons. On live games you can interact with people and see actual humans. The number one thing digital gambling lacks is social interaction. Of course we have chats but we don't see each other.

I think the next big start-up will be a software that let's people create rooms(like on zoom) and gamble together with a live casino dealer.  Cool
774  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How do you leverage the power of your Bitcoins? on: October 03, 2020, 03:17:46 PM
All those things are done in a centralized way, and unlike with traditional finance, it's way more riskier with Bitcoin, because those services aren't fully regulated and due to the nature of Bitcoin it's easier for them to pull exit scams. Since the risk is higher, it's not that lucrative to invest your Bitcoin.

The risk is certainly higher than in traditional finance, but the rewards are proportional IMO. Although the big Bitcoin lending services out there (at least one of them) are not properly regulated, they do have licenses from multiple financial authorities so they can operate. Nevertheless, risk management is a must in this space.
775  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Good Morning from a Non-Bitcoiner on: October 03, 2020, 11:27:33 AM
Well... if you're a bitcoin maximalist this is an easy to digest message. If you are not, you have to ask yourself several questions:
1) Have I analysed interesting companies on Sensex and they are all so overvalued that they are not worth my investment?
2) Is Gold overvalued or it is mainly due to inflation?
3) Are banks actually unreliable? I mean can't you make transactions? Aren't your deposit guaranteed by the state?
776  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How do i convert bitcoin into usd cash? on: October 03, 2020, 08:57:53 AM
My 2 cents: Don't convert your Bitcoins into cash just for the sake of others. Be it family members, friends or even worse - strangers that you want to impress. You don't want to get on the path of living your life to prove something. Just hold and manage your finances carefully. You will have a much happier life, believe me.

Now if you actually need some cash you can use P2P platforms like LocalBitcoins or Paxful or join local exchange groups on telegram, facebook, etc. Make sure you pay your taxes. You don't want to have problems later on.
777  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Mediocre/People. on: October 02, 2020, 07:18:11 PM
It takes time for people to get used to new technology as in the case of internet and technology.

We can accelerate this process by marketing cryptocurrencies and expanding the network of businesses that accept payments with Bitcoin. Once they see it everywhere they will have to learn how to use it.
778  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Are there any truly safe bets in sports betting? on: October 02, 2020, 06:50:10 PM
Through my experience I've found out that small odds does not mean a safer event. Sometimes it is quite the opposite. You end up taking more risk for a measly reward. For example, on a $100 bet on a 1.15 odds event you would only get $15, but the real odd should have been around 1.50 (there are techniques out there to determine the fair odds). So you are actually betting on a high-risk event for a measly reward.
779  Other / Archival / Re: What will happen to bitcoin on a world war? on: October 02, 2020, 06:17:03 PM
I think Debt can be repaid peacefully with economic measures. However in the unfortunate case of a world war I think Bitcoin price would soar as it is a scarce asset that is not dependent on any government. A decentralized solution for a chaotic centralization. Wink

I don't think Gold will still be a reliable hedge in the Information Age, nor any other precious metals.
780  Economy / Economics / Re: Stocks fall down due to trump catching the virus on: October 02, 2020, 05:04:46 PM
The health of the US President is certainly a factor that has a lower or higher impact on the stock market. A sick president would certainly affect his decision-making and a change of the so called "most powerful man in the world" would certainly create some havoc in the markets.
