761  Economy / Economics / Re: Long term argument for bitcoin on: June 27, 2017, 11:59:31 PM
Hello,

Most of you are confident with the long term for Bitcoin. Yet some altcoins has the same features so why are you so confident about bitcoin and not about litecoin instead?

I compared them and approximatevily the same assets!
The only difference is that bitcoin was the first, is it that important?

Yes it is one of many important things, all other altcoins created in order to catch up with bitcoin.
People familiar with bitcoin, they trust to put Million of dollars into bitcoin which make it rise.
The idea of decentralized digital currency as an alternative, separate from bank or government systems.
Another factor is the highest price of bitcoin, been around for years and used for many purpose besides trading.
762  Economy / Speculation / Re: should i buy or sell today on: June 27, 2017, 11:30:50 PM
I am struggling making money with bitcoin trading, what is today's outcome?

Do you know how to make money through trading? Buy low and sell high is just a word but hard to do as people struggling to achieve profits as risk is there as well. The first thing to consider is how much your capital and how much you willing to lose?
Today's outcome seems to recover, bitcoin price will rise after declined yesterday, people will buy back at this cheaper price, but still there is no guarantee.
763  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Who updates bitcoin value? on: June 27, 2017, 10:21:24 PM
though you can (and should) hold bitcoin on your own private key using bitcoin software. people deposit funds into third party services(exchanges) and then trade on exchanges.*

doing trades using bitcoin software where the funds are on your own private key are peer-to-peer and do not contribute to the price 'value'

by doing trades using exchanges the funds are on the exchanges private keys, meaning you have to trust the exchange is ethical/moral/legit to not disappear with your funds. but the advantage is your trades do contribute to the price 'value'

the price "value" is measured by the buy/sells done on these exchanges.
this value is not a real value of all coins. but the value of the current prices certain amount of coins are bought/sold at, at the time.
some exchanges only handle buy/sell between people of 0.00xx coins at any time, some buy/sell xx.xx coins at any time. but exchanges do not show the 'trades' of all coins in circulation, just the trades done between people in that exchange

there are multiple exchanges. and also multiple sites which may vary in 'value' because they are separate from each other (have their own orders) generally though exchanges respond like sheep if they see one exchange move in a certain direction or another exchange move in another direction thus the prices do end up being quite similar

some sites get the data from each exchange and then averages the trades of the exchanges these are usually just value estimator sites which dont do any trading and only purpose is to display an average value.

but remember when you see a price of $XXXX it does not mean there are $xxxx stored in bank accounts to back every single bitcoin in circulation.
it is just a display of the latest price a bitcoin has been bought/sold on an exchange. or just a display of the average of multiple exchanges.

do not take much notice of the "market cap" as that is just a multiplication of the average buy/sell of a current order.. and not to be thought of as the amount of real $$$ that is invested.

Clear explanation I think, thanks to franky1.
So, it doesn't matter what preev show to us, it just average measure of bitcoin price from many exchanges, it just bitcoin value converter not an exchange. What affect your bitcoin value is local exchange where you convert bitcoin into fiat currency, no matter what other exchanges list the price, just focus to local exchanges. But, it is good idea to watch over all other exchanges to predict global market, whether it goes up or decline as it will influence local traders to sell or buy bitcoin.
764  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC will be back in $1,000 ? on: June 27, 2017, 12:00:45 AM
So...The price is moving around $2,400 now-a-days and dropped from $3,000 & What about the future...Is going down to $1K maybe!
I had received over $5K bitcoin payments and the price dropped within short-time its a massive drop and I'm under a huge loss. What to do I don't know.
Its been risky to receive payments in Bitcoin now. The price may drop more and make you beggar overnight.   Undecided[/font]

Dropped from $3000 is another story, it was a correction because bitcoin in bull run at that time but its price already stable at $2500 for a week.
it just decline as much $100 and seems normal for bitcoin or other cryptocurrencies due to traders want to cash out their profits before they lose this chance. People will buy back again after certain point of price, and we will see how fast bitcoin could grow before August 1st.
I suggest to hold your bitcoin and wait for 2 weeks later if you can, as bitcoin price will recover and surpass $2500 again. In August, bitcoin should reach $3000 due to blocksize problem finally be solved, hopefully.
765  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is this right time to buy bitcoin?? on: June 26, 2017, 12:49:47 PM
After seeing some post regarding bitcoin legalized in india (link will be given below)  spreading around facebook and other social media lots of my friends asking about investing in bitcoin is this right time or 1)it may go down till that can we wait and buy  or 2) it will take off booming then we cant touch because of overprice . Please could somebody give clear picture Link: https://cointelegraph.com/news/suddenly-bitcoin-to-be-officially-legal-in-india

Bitcoin price fluctuate at any direction, when people decide to buy or sell, there is a little hint to guess but mostly we don't know until which point it will stop to rise or fall. Your decision to buy, depend on your purpose whether it will be for short term (week trading) or long term investment (a half of year and so on). Current price of bitcoin consider at low point as last week it stay over $2500-$2600 on some exchanges. If you want to save it for long term investment, buy bitcoin right now before bitcoin price start to rise again.
766  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Invest in bitcoins today and be a millionaire in the future! on: June 25, 2017, 10:05:53 PM
http://www.cnbc.com/2017/06/20/bitcoin-millionaire-erik-finman-says-going-to-college-isnt-worth-it.html

Have you heard of the story of a 12 year old kid who wagered with his mom that if he will be a millionaire at age 18 he will not go to college. To his mothers surprise he is now a millionaire and never went to college. His secret he bought bitcoin at 12$ with a 1000 $ gift from his grandmother.

If we also dream of getting rich in the future it is now time to invest in bitcoins. Many said that we will be experiencing bubbles more often, that is true but we have survived it and still bitcoin keeps moving on.

If we want to get rich invest in bitcoins today. The price of bitcoin today is at 2600$ and moving up but imagine its value 5 to 10 years from now.
I just found out, nice article to read obviously, thanks to share. I have no idea how could a boy made such decision when he just 12 years old. How about next 10 years, is bitcoin will continue to rise? Do you dare to invest on it and wait?
I believe in bitcoin, and mostly of us in this forum also believe and have invested million dollars for long term investment.
I will save my bitcoin and wait for 10 years later, I'm wondering how much it will be.
767  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: I want to invest in BTC should i do it now or wait til after August 1st? on: June 23, 2017, 11:59:43 PM
I need advice i want to invest in BTC i have about 15k should i do it now? or should i wait til after August 1st just incase the price drops?

Please help me.

Thank you,
Brendon

I believe bitcoin price will increase after August 1st, so buy bitcoin right now.
No need to wait for 2 months later as current price will not last long, look at the bitcoin big charts and you will find out how bitcoin keep growing and recover after correction. If you don't want to take too much risk, then buy bitcoin using at least a quarter of your capital.
768  Economy / Economics / Re: Selling Bitcoin = Opportunity loss?! on: June 23, 2017, 11:45:53 PM
You are assuming that the price will continue to rise. That is not guaranteed, so selling is not necessarily lost opportunity.

Selling may be the way to maximize your return, but it depends on the risk of holding.
The problem is, who knows whether bitcoin price will stop right here at some point or will continue to rise, so sell it in hurry and you will regret it tomorrow when bitcoin price keep growing.
Yes, you're right, there is no any guarantee but we know bitcoin price always increases, year after year, from nothing - 8 years ago to $2600 today. So, people who sell or hold bitcoin have different chances to doubled their funds.
769  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: BUY high sell low ? on: June 23, 2017, 11:31:34 PM
or may be buy low sell high ?

Lot of noobs traders , don't control their emotions and make worst mistakes : buy at high price and sell at lowest

how to control this ? = put orders (buy/sell) and close the platform

Just weak hand people who sell at low than the price they've bought bitcoin.
I say it is fool decision, in hurry, impatient obviously.
Why sell bitcoin if you know it's a loss? Fool decision
Why in hurry to sell it if you know it will rise someday, maybe next day or next week?  Impatient.
770  Economy / Speculation / Re: fluctuating btc price on: June 23, 2017, 11:22:03 PM
any announcements in the next days that might bring bitcoin price up/down significantly?

It will be different in some exchanges, bitcoin price fluctuate a lot affected by buy and sell orders from people.
To predict it will increase in the next day, watch over to what people talking about in your exchanges, whether they think it will rise or fall. Then, mostly people will buy at cheaper price, look at the market average price, compare to your exchanges price to decide whether it is lower or higher.
771  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: wtf? Blockchain transaction fees is outrageous!!! on: June 23, 2017, 09:34:46 PM
omg!!

blockchain transaction fees killed my entire 2 days earnings on bitcoin 40$

i never know and wanna try exodus wallet so i transfered frm blockchain to exodus 40$ and they cut 16$ as transaction fees.

HOLY MOM!! Wth is this fees???

anyone experience the same...

Your transaction on June 21, right? And used blockchain wallet to sent $40, but $16 cut was huge amount in my opinion.
I remember it was over 37K unconfirmed transactions at that time you've sent that, than blockchain may increased the fees in order to made it confirmed as soon as possible. But my last transaction on June 17, sent $123 and paid $1 fees, quite faster to be confirmed as well.
772  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Invest in ETH or ETC? on: June 23, 2017, 08:36:03 PM
Hello,

i thinking about to invest some "bigger" amount of money into one of these 2 currencies. But i really dont know in which one. ETH should be more stable and safer?

If u had for example 1000$ and you would invest, which currency of this both would you take and why?

Depends on your purpose of course, if you want to invest for long term and aim for big profits then invest on ETH because its price seems increases steadily over time due to many projects based in eth network. If you're looking for short term investment, then etc is the answer, but I'm not so sure if it's going to increase significantly, at least it has cheaper price than eth, so you can purchase in big numbers and get big profits if its price increase like $1 or $5.
773  Economy / Economics / Re: The Real Reason to Hold Gold And Bitcoin on: June 23, 2017, 08:16:18 PM
Bitcoin and gold are the best investments in the modern world. You need to use both options to avoid losing money and making more profit.
well if you are thinking for a long term investment this two assets are the best to hold as the value will possible to keep rising and rising from time to time, there's some fluctuations and downfall but for sure the value will survive and its bring big fortune in returned.

I always thought that mostly gold used as jewelry, and gold bar for investment. Diversify investment into bitcoin and gold is a good decision as both of it has some advantages to cover each other disadvantages, more or less.
People could store both of it in secret which no one knows about your savings, the best things to avoid taxes  Grin
774  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Bye Bye Localbitcoins wallet! on: June 23, 2017, 07:04:10 PM
Look like now all users who were doing small transactions will simply stop to do it and maybe stop to using them due to this change.
Deposit fees seems ridiculous, or I missed something in the story. I never used Localbitcoin and I doubt I am planning to use in a near future
Me too. In current moment I use Blockchain wallet and even if the fee value for the slow transactions is like 0.7$ there I plan to move all my earnings directly on the exchanger that I use. Anyway I don't hold coins too long, I just need that money, cause of I am unemployed. I am sure that strategy will help me to stay away from almost all kind of transaction fees.

With high fees of bitcoin transactions, micro payment isn't fit to bitcoin these days, small amount to send or receive in or out of an exchange (localbitcoin) should prevent any further similar transactions which flood the network.
I believe we can't avoid all kind of transaction fees obviously, simply because people should pay fees to send bitcoin, or at least pay fees in order to cash out - convert to fiat currency and send to your bank account .
775  Economy / Speculation / Re: $10K at the end of 2017? on: June 23, 2017, 04:58:52 PM
Last month, we have read many self-proclaimed Bitcoin analysts and experts proclaiming to the whole world that soon Bitcoin will hit $10,000 by the end of 2017. We have some corrections since then which pulled back Bitcoin a little bit from its $2800 high and right now as I speak it is hovering at the $2500-$2600 level.

Bitcoin is now priced higher than 1oz. of gold and has beaten any other financial instruments in terms of return on investment which result into many money managers noticing Bitcoin and transferring some of their eggs into it.

Do you think Bitcoin will really make it into $10K within this year, most especially after its August One "date with destiny"?

I don't think bitcoin could reach $10K by the end of 2017, what kind of bitcoin analysts and experts proclaimed? Link?
The best price for bitcoin after segwit activated maybe around $5000-$6000, after fluctuate and some corrections occurred at the highest price. Bitcoin cycle always going like that, but we will see higher floor than just $2500 obviously.
776  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Offline Wallets Vs Online Wallets on: June 23, 2017, 01:40:44 PM
For long term storage, please use offline paper wallet or hardware wallets. Paper wallet must be carefully generated though.

For daily/ frequent use, you can consider one of the mobile wallet- after all you do not bring your computer with you everywhere. Try breadwallet.
I think it's already cleared, based on the purpose and amount of bitcoin obviously.
Small amount of bitcoin and daily transaction - choose online (mobile) wallet.
Huge amount of bitcoin for long term savings - choose offline wallet.
There are a lot of wallets out there, you can research by yourself or read https://99bitcoins.com/best-bitcoin-wallet-2015-bitcoin-wallets-comparison-review/
777  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Trading Tips On Day Trading and Shorts? on: June 22, 2017, 10:48:26 PM
What are the best strategies you use for identifying short/day trades? Do you have some favorite coins to do that?

I am looking for a somewhat solid daily growth strategy to use and raise some coin.

Thanks in advance.

Heard any information from devs team about its development, whether this coin will rise or stay below the line forever.
Honestly, I don't trade daily or short term, because some coins usually rise up after several weeks or months such as some famous coins which has reach over $50. Visit coinmarketcap and look at the charts.
778  Economy / Economics / Re: Why we should fear a cashless world on: June 22, 2017, 10:26:34 PM
Well in case some didn't knew, Sweden was the first cashless country since past 4 or 5 months (IIRC) and they haven't suffer any problem so far and the route for other countries is surely the same, it's just the matter of when it will happen. Some say cash is good and they could leave without the need of other monetary systems like credit/debit which is connected to banks and online options like BTCitcoin. We can't hold too much of cash at our hand or disposal but we could have them saved on either banks or in our BTCitcoin wallets (no matter how large the amount). Some sited that the poor people would be the ones who will suffer the most for this evolution but surely there will be a way for them as well although it's not going to be a smooth one. We never know, maybe in the near future, every single person will have a single card (regardless of being rich or poor) and all their wealth automatically stores there (still long way though) or even some sort of genetics wallet, connected to someones genes only.

It seems like what happens in some movies Grin a genetic wallet, printed on human body. Maybe it could happen in the future, maybe not, as people do enjoy using cash and cashless society has several worse scenario as it's digital and could be freezed at any time if govs want to. Feels like we don't have power to control our own money.
779  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Advice- Should friend send 6500 USD to just one exchange? on: June 22, 2017, 07:42:25 PM
Is there any claim about bitstamp - fiat deposit problem? The chance is very small for this exchange get hack at the time your friend deposit, or he is so unlucky if that happen. If you're so worrying about that, then your plan was good to diversify it.
Then, you may send some portions of the funds to bitstamp or bitfines to make sure, it's safe .
Or, deposit the funds on different days if you worry about bank investigate and force to send the money back.
780  Economy / Speculation / Re: Segwit2x reached 80% on: June 22, 2017, 07:13:56 PM
We are now at 86,1% :-)

I don't know, how could they said it already 86,1%? As I have seen at https://coin.dance/blocks and :
- segwit2x at 42,6%
- emergent consensus 41,7%
- segregated witness 33.8%
am I misunderstand about it? Or segwit2x + emergent consensus = 84,3% ?
Or anyone could mention a better site to watch over this consensus, thanks.
