761  Economy / Services / Re: Bounty 0.25 Unlock Samsung S4 from Sprint so that I can use it as AT&T customer on: June 07, 2013, 03:40:05 PM
You can not use a Sprint phone on AT & T.  Frequency bands are different and one is CDMA (Sprint) the other is GSM (AT&T).  This will never work.

Uh, and you don't think these things cost money? You think the forge is just DONATING wafers of chips? You think the boards and cases are growing in cocoons? Roll Eyes

Gads!  The secret!  She is out!

I must now go tend my cocoons of soon to be hatching Singles and Minirigs.

763  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Call to arms] Why don't you destroy BFL rather than QQ? on: June 06, 2013, 10:53:27 PM
If you thought you could deliver on time in the first place, why wouldn't you have just solo mined? You've said yourself how much easier and profitable it would be. Ah yes, because you never thought you could deliver, but instead prayed on the trusting community, pooling their funds for your own greed.

The Herp and Derp are strong with this one.
764  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Call to arms] Why don't you destroy BFL rather than QQ? on: June 06, 2013, 09:37:39 PM
So let me get this straight... Dogie is advocating a mass refund on BFL, who has a bunch of mining hardware.  Lets say Dogies exceptionally brilliant plan came to pass (which is, in and of itself completely ridiculous, but we'll table that for now).  Hypothetically, what do you think a company, faced with all pre-orders canceled, yet holding onto hundreds of TH of mining equipment is going to do?  Say "Oh noes! Bye!" ... or do you think they'd press that hardware into service?

Yes, by all means, cancel all the orders, lets see how well that ends up working out.

For the record, BFL is capable of refunding all of the preorders in the queue and remaining in business.  Would we have to pare down on employees?  Sure we would, but then again, we wouldn't need so many employees if we aren't doing customer service anyway.

If you weren't scared, you wouldn't be posting here. You've done more than I ever could have to verify just how precarious your position is.

He's pointing out the obviously flawed logic in your idea.

The "plan" is so illogical that even if was realistically possible, it would likely end up helping BFL by giving a better profit margin on units already produced being sold at $274 going forward instead of $150 (similarly increased profit margins on the 25/50 GH/s), where most of the proposed "refund exodus" was supposed to take place.

Oh, and as a bonus it would help clear out the pre-order queue that is likely holding back a lot of potential prospective buyers from purchasing BFL right now.

So the final result would be:
  • BFL earns higher profits
  • Everyone who didn't refund is bumped up in the queue
  • Refunders get their original value back in $

Oh and, if you have all those 100s of THs, why aren't you sending out more than 100GH of orders? Ah yes.... next week right?

...again, the logical conclusion of time wasted going through the proposed Call to arms hypothetically means that BFL has hardware that nobody buys.  Therefore they can mine with it.

It's so refreshing to see someone with a brain posting.  Bonus points for your taste in TV.

1) I've logged off and on quite a few times using the Yubikey.  A few of those times I get an error message: "OTP REPLAY ERROR", and need to try again.  Normally the next try it works fine.  Is this a timing issue?

I means you're trying to send the same code you've already sent or one in the chain that is before the latest one you've used. Any time a code is used all previous codes are invalidated, regardless of whether or not they've been used.

Quote
2) I'd assume based on the above message that EMC DOES validate the OTP and not just look for the correct public key portion of the OPT field (I've read that Blockchain.info only validates the public key portion - BAD).  Is this correct?

Yes, it validates the entire OTP, not just the first few bytes.

Quote
3) I haven't tried, but EMC documentation says I can't ever remove this Yubikey setting? Is that correct?

You should be able to remove it by switching your 2FA to GA or None.

Quote
4) On the GoogleAuth counter based setting, I want to know how this works.  If the account is set for that, does the EMC page give the user a "starting counter" which then is continuously incremented by 1 on each login attempt?  Sounds like no software is needed then.  If an error occurs (bad # for example) how would the user reset the counter?

As above, the OTP is deterministic.  As long as you have the starting seed, you can compute all keys to infinity.  However, once a key is used along that line to infinity, all previous codes that come before it are invalid.  All future codes are still valid until one is used, then all codes before it are rendered invalid.

Question on 2-factor authentication.

Just purchased a Yubikey.  Tried (several times) to add to my account - but setting is ignored and no 2FA authentication is needed on login. Feature seems to be disabled?

Also tried the Google Authenticator setup.  This implementation uses a counter rather than a time-based OTP.  I run 2 versions of Google Auth on my PC desktop and neither has this option.  The time-based feature seems to be the standard and works fine for me on several other BTC sites.  Why this counter-based version that I can't use?

Thanks.

Yubikey is working for me... is anyone else having troubles?  Are you sure you're clicking save?

As for counter based, I dislike the time based.  With a counter based one, you can copy down several numbers and keep them with you, so you don't need a phone or what have you available.  You can easily invalidate them by just advancing the counter 1 spot then as well.

The time based has only become a standard people people don't seem to understand the limitations of TOTP and how annoying it really is.  Especially if there's network lag, clock skew or improper implementation.

Yeah, I split payment to 50 BTC instead of 100 BTC to increase frequency.  Meant to make a post on that but forgot.

As a side note, I'd appreciate everyone who's involved with this clicking on my Trust link and providing feedback with your experience.

My trust link is just under my picture on the left here.

I can't thank you enough for this response of yours. Absolutely everything I need.

You're quite welcome, good luck!  Please be sure to report back how long the belly laughs go on when you finish your story in front of actual legal council.  Perhaps they'll at least have the courtesy to wait until you're out of the building before busting a gut, though.

Also, if you don't mind, could you update the OP with the current tally of how much money you've spent on your little tantrum against BFL.  By my count it's at least $1700 so far.

Yeah, that video is great.  Looks like the crack head brother of Bryan Micon (that's kind of an oxymoron though, I admit)... Real legit!  I'd trust him!

What's even funnier about that video is the fact that he couldn't even understand the quote referenced was in response to Mooc Tals failure to understand how furniture works, not about delays to the product.  I mean, I freaking quoted the question in my response and the guy somehow still missed it.  That inspires lots of confidence.

774  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Butterflylabs Huge SCAM on: May 26, 2013, 11:59:16 PM
MooC, why don't you dig back in time and look at my first reply to you and look at what it was in response to.  Yes, you were an asshole and I responded in kind.

Yes, Xian, you too were and asshole and I responded in kind.

I never start out being an asshole.  If you are rational and polite, I will respond in a rational and polite manner.  If you are a spittle flinging cretin, you get a rude response.  If you get a rude response, you need to take a long, hard look in the mirror and ask yourself why someone responded to you in that manner.

What about all the people that voice their opinions about how late your promises are like Xian01 that was cancelled on. You obviously found him an asshole and freed him from your responsibility to deliver his product.

There are plenty of examples of people voicing there opinions and being negative about BFL, both here and on the BFL forums.  For some reason, they are able to act like adults and converse in a civilized manner.  Xian, on the other hand, decided to go full tantrum mode and pitch a fit.  I ignored it for many weeks, giving him many chances to settle down and he chose to just amp up the lies and misinformation.  It was time to cut him loose.  People like him cost more to maintain than they are worth as customers, thus we cut ties with him. Now he's free to fling spittle and foam all he wants without the encumbrance of being a hypocrite.

You just don't care about the people right?

No, I just don't care about you.  Like I said, 99% of the people are decent human begins.  It's just people like you, Charlie, Xian, et al you who spoil it for everyone.  You are incapable of holding rational conversations or having cogent arguments, but you feel the need to let everyone know your opinion, as flawed as it is.

I mean look at poor Xian... he's so broken at this point he just keeps posting the same post over and over and then yelling the functional equivalent of "AMEN!" after other peoples posts. Heh

777  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Butterflylabs Huge SCAM on: May 26, 2013, 09:30:40 PM
What, you mean the same people posting the same stuff over and over?  What's your point?  It's already known... there's no one knew coming to the party and you're in the newbie section, so as you're so keen on pointing out, everyone that is a newbie is a sock puppet.

Or does that only apply when people don't agree with you?

Seriously... look in the Custom Hardware section... all the bitching is done by a handful of people, spouting the same nonsense over and over.  The amount of people complaining versus the amount of people who don't complain amounts to about 1% our customers who complain, the other 99% don't.   So again, your point?

As for caring, I said I don't care that poor little Charlie got his boat of lies sunk by facts... yet again.  Learn to read.  I only post here because it's entertaining, beyond that I don't really care too much what you do on this forum.  By all means, continue to have your little BFL circle jerk, I'm sure it makes you feel better to think you're accomplishing something.

You do know that when you place an order and don't pay for it immediately, it's entered in the system when you do pay for it, right? No?  Oh, my mistake.  I thought you had some intelligence.

Lol, so you still accepted payment for a product that was removed from market? Why not void the unpaid orders?

Herp... Derp!  That's what it sounds like when you talk, dude.  Maybe because the customer didn't want the order voided?  Any customer has been able to cancel their orders at any time.  Are you seriously so dense that you can't even figure out that if the people who ordered the 1500 GH/s units don't want 3x 500 GH/s units, they could get their money back?  Seriously?

You are a joke dude.

As a side note, I don't stay behind the keyboard as you well know.  I'm out front on a regular basis in real life, talking about bitcoin, BFL, etc....  Something that we apparently can't say for you.  I'm also perfectly happy to tell real life trolls what they need to go do. Smiley  You are the epitome of the internet toughguy.  You talk a lot of smack from your little keyboard and post stalker pictures at public events with famous people and then claim they are your personal friends.  Yes, internet toughguy indeed.
