Some great games this weekend. Those of you in Europe have a great game with the Chiefs and Dolphins kicking the week off. That's on at 830am here, will be tough for me to get up that early on the weekend (I love sleeping in) but I certainly will for this game.

Banger on Sunday night with the Bills versus the Bengals.  Not sure what bets I'll be placing yet but will be doing a few.
762  Economy / Economics / Re: Young people needs productive mindset to be happy in life on: November 02, 2023, 06:52:46 PM
Things has really changed unlike before when a graduate is coming out from the university their are job opportunities around the corners, people don't even stress themselves to acquire skills as an alternative just in case they don't get a job. Getting a job as a graduate some years back was a thing never to argue about or think about.  In this recent time things have really changed, expecting so much from the government as a graduate can lead people into serious problems.  The life we live now is so unpredictable, no one can be sure of practicing their desired career from what they have learnt in school.

I think if people really want to be happy in life, expecially undergraduates and young graduate they should learn not to give all expectations of having living job from the government.  If people create the mindset of being creative and productive in this era they will live a more happy life than putting all expectations of getting a dream job from the government.  A productive mindset is what young people needs to make life easy and worth living.

I suppose this really varies depending on where you are from in the world.  Here in the United States most people don't ever plan on working a job that is with or provided by the government.  I do agree people need to learn other skills to prepare themselves or their lives or perhaps as a career fallback, but I still believe college is important, and to try and get an education if you can.  This whole "college is a rip off" thing that's going around is utter nonsense.
763  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do not share your bitcoin holdings with everyone on: November 02, 2023, 06:49:44 PM
As a financial advisor and someone who takes security very seriously, I highly recommend telling NO ONE how much bitcoin you have or money or what your yearly salary is etc.  It's no ones business except for if you have a spouse.  Other than that, friends and family don't need to know.  Never brag about your money either.  It's important to stay private in this area.

I see all these stupid social media clips where people with a camera and mic walk up to people and just straight out ask "how much is you rent" or "how much money do you make per year".. your answer should always be.."thanks but that's information I don't share, have a good day".
764  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Cash out or keep playing? on: November 02, 2023, 06:47:05 PM
This is of course a dilemma that we all have , or at least all hope to have every time we place a bet or play gambling casino games. Typically what I will do is have a certain amount of bitcoin in mind that I plan on "wasting", i.e. gambling.  I am willing to lose this money, all of it, up front.  Let's say I decide that I'll bet up to .01 bitcoins for the day. Let's say I hit big and 4 x my bitcoin.  I would then typically bet only using .01btc.  That way I walk away with I came with, I more than doubled my money, and I get a chance to win more.  Repeat the process.  This is just me though.
765  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tyson Fury vs Francis Ngannou Boxing October 28 on: November 02, 2023, 06:43:16 PM
I don't follow boxing as much as I use to when I was younger. I really miss the days of the big time legendary heavyweights such as Tyson, Holyfield, Lennox Lewis etc.  Today it seems like the guy, or heavyweight that I see the name most often pop up is Fury. Has he been the best heavyweight for some time?  Is there anyone else coming up to challenge him?

I wanting to start to learn more about boxing so I can start placing some bets on the matches.

You posted that pic from Sleeper, have you been using that app ?  I absolutely love it.  That's where my dynasty team is on and they are simply the best overall fantasy app out there right now.  I'm sure some big company will come in a buy them up and then ruin it..but it's really awesome right now.  They truly take the feedback given from the players and implement the stuff that is resoundingly wanted.

No, it was pointed out in a feed I subcribe to.

 Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

I would recommend downloading the app and checking it out.  Even if you're not signed up to run a team on Sleeper, they still provide a lot of helpful in season information/tools/quick links to podcasts and stuff like that.

What a BORING ass game tonight! Titans versus the Steelers, talk about a snooze fest.  I guess there is at least a decent amount of impactful fantasy players playing, well a few..so that accounts for something lol.
767  Economy / Economics / Re: Isn't Fiat the Real Ponzi on: November 01, 2023, 04:26:58 PM
People whom claim that bitcoin is a ponzi typically have absolutely NO CLUE about it and how it works.  I work in finance so bitcoin comes up a good bit in conversation.  The last few people I've spoken with about bitcoin who claimed it to be a scam had no clue either.  I simply ask this "do you know what the blockchain is?"..typically I get a "no, I don't" which I respond with "then you have no right to call bitcoin a scam/ponzi as you're not even versed on how it actually works".

Fiat money in many ways is a scam.  The fact the the central banks can print as much money as they want is a serious issue.
768  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How will it affect your life if bitcoin price comes to $1 million per bitcoin? on: November 01, 2023, 04:24:20 PM
I would imagine that if bitcoin shot up all the way to 1 million dollars, it would change a whole lot of peoples lives in an instant.  If bitcoin went to 1 million I would certainly keep a large percentage of it in bitcoin, but I would likely take some and invest it in to financial instruments such as stocks and what not.

I know a lot of people predict it'll hit 1 million at some point, but I'm not so sure.  I hope though!
769  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Health Benefits of Gambling on: November 01, 2023, 04:21:18 PM
When I saw this title I laughed a little, I didn't think that there would actually be much in the line of "health benefits" when it comes to gambling, but after reading some of the article they do make some fair points.  For me, when I gamble, mostly sports betting, it provides a lot of fun and gets me that much more in to games.  It's good entertainment, even if I'm just betting a few bucks, which is typically the case.  Good stuff.
770  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is this how it start? (No or yes?) on: November 01, 2023, 04:16:03 PM
I guess it's possible that you were awarded some sort of "bonus" money that you may not have been aware of or perhaps it was deposited randomly to get you interested in starting to use your account again/more often going forward.  Did you try to withdraw the funds at all? I'm curious if it would have let you withdraw the $10 or not, that would probably be pretty telling.
771  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🏈🏈 The American Football Discussion Thread 🏈🏈 on: November 01, 2023, 04:13:43 PM
Congrats Mo, I thought I was gonna catch up for a second there!

Thanks, GG!

I didn't expect my lead to hold considering what Jacobs and Amon-Ra did in the first half. That 37-38 point lead i had was cut to 7. I guess i have to thank Jimmy G for not being able to keep the game close, Lions only ran the ball in the 4th Q wasting clock.

💀💀💀

The trade deadline is over, it feels like the Bears gave too much for Sweat (2nd rounder), while the 49ers scooped Young for a 3rd.

Was secretly hoping the Vikings would trade for Jameis Winston, instead it's Dobbs...

My Bears are an absolute joke. I mean I haven't heard anything about them getting some sort of commitment from Sweat for a mid-long term contract, which is of course the ONLY reason you would trade a likely high up 2nd round draft pick.  I think I'm over Poles, he's been doing a pretty half ass job IMO.

Was secretly hoping the Vikings would trade for Jameis Winston, instead it's Dobbs...

Dobbs stock rising!

If I needed a QB, I'd be targeting him right now.

I have him in my dynasty league and pretty pumped about this trade.  Although the Vikings coach did say they are starting the rookie (I believe he's a rookie) and then would "see how things go from there". So, if he does ball out, he may not get a chance to play.  But..we shall see.

772  Economy / Collectibles / "Bitcoin Collection: Exploring the Variety of Physical Bitcoins" on: October 31, 2023, 03:30:08 PM
Another horribly written article from bitcoinnews.com as well as a bunch of misinformation.  Honestly, is there no journalistic integrity anymore? Here's the link -> https://bitcoinnews.com/bitcoin-collection-variety-of-physical-bitcoins/

Here I break down some of the misinformation..

"In the digital asset sector, there exists a unique intersection between the virtual and the tangible: physical Bitcoins. These physical representations of Bitcoin come in a range of styles and designs, making them intriguing items to include in a Bitcoin collection for enthusiasts.

In this article, we dive into the world of physical bitcoins, taking a look at some the more famous models.

A Closer Look at The Bitcoin Collection
Casascius Coins
Casascius Coins, created by Mike Caldwell, were among the first physical Bitcoins. They feature an embedded private key hidden beneath a tamper-evident holographic sticker. Casascius Coins come in various denominations, serving as both collectors’ items and secure storage solutions.

Titan Bitcoin
Titan Bitcoins are known for their opulence. Crafted from precious materials like gold, silver, and brass, these limited-edition coins are not just secure storage but works of art. Each Titan Bitcoin has a distinctive design, making it a premium collectible.

No mention of Titan being partly a scam and partly a completely unreliable coin when it comes to even their private key coins. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5369583.0

Denarium Coins

Denarium, a Finnish company, offers physical BTC coins with a touch of elegance. These coins come in different denominations and are secured with tamper-evident holograms, making them a secure and visually appealing choice for collectors.

They no longer offer coins

Lealana Coins

Lealana Coins stand out due to their unique designs and variety. These physical Bitcoins are made from various materials and often feature distinctive artwork. They cater to collectors seeking diversity in their collections.

Satori Coins
Satori Coins add an element of mystery to the physical Bitcoin world. These coins may incorporate puzzles or codes that must be deciphered to access the private key. They combine security with an engaging challenge.

No one has ever heard that Satori "incorporate puzzles or codes that must be deciphered to access the private key".  This is simply not true, and I have no idea where this was dreamed up from.

Bitcoin Wallet Cards
Bitcoin wallet cards, resembling credit cards, contain QR codes with a private key. They are convenient for storing and spending Bitcoin while offering a level of physical security.

These are Ballet Cards, not "Bitcoin Wallet Cards"

BTCC Mint Coins
BTCC Mint produces physical bitcoins with distinct designs. They come in various materials, including copper and silver, making them attractive to collectors interested in aesthetic diversity.

BTCC no longer produces coins

Cold Storage Coins
Cold storage coins provide a reliable option for long-term storage of bitcoin. They incorporate tamper-evident holograms and are suitable for those who prioritize security and preservation.

These coins are a scam!

DIY Physical Bitcoins
DIY physical bitcoin
DIY Physical Bitcoin — Source
Some enthusiasts take a hands-on approach, crafting their physical Bitcoins by engraving private keys onto metal or other materials. These DIY coins offer a personalized touch and can be a fun project for hobbyists.

The Casascius coin in the picture is NOT a DIY coin

Alitin
Two premium coins that represent economic pioneer Adam Smith and French patron saint Joan of Arc. These are pure silver coins weighing two ounces each and designed by presidential sculptor John B Andelin.

This company was a scam! https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3315347.0

Antana Coins
These are affordable novelty coins, with each minted batch containing network statistic data for a period and a particular theme.

Interestingly, each type of physical Bitcoin brings its own charm, security features, and artistic flair, making them captivating pieces in the ever-evolving landscape of Bitcoin”.
773  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin ETFs and the 401(k) Dilemma on: October 31, 2023, 03:21:27 PM
I run the State of Illinois Deferred Comp plan/ 457b (I'm a financial advisor).  First of all I don't think any 401k's force you to contribute (some may when you first start your job, but you can typically cancel in pretty quickly).  Secondly, I highly doubt even in your self directed account inside your IRA will even allow for such a risky investment as a bitcoin ETF.  Maybe I'm wrong but I doubt it.
774  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you think if you have a lot of money its hard to satisfy your ego in gambling on: October 31, 2023, 03:17:09 PM
I think it completely depends on each person individually.  Everyone is a bit different in how they handle and or spend their money when they've got a lot of it.  A lot of people worked hard for that moeny and aren't willing to just give it up so easily.  Others may have worked hard but have no problem gambling with it, as perhaps that's how they became to have so much money on hand, taking gambles in life.
775  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Spirituality and Betting - Do they Have any Connection? on: October 31, 2023, 03:15:34 PM
Well if you're like me you don't believe any god or any one certain god, so it doesn't have any sort of "play" in my decision to gamble or not.  Now I know a lot of religious people whom think gambling is a temptation from "the devil" but I think that's just peoples way of trying to justify why they don't like something in particular.

I'm not sure any god has ever said "though shall not gamble".
776  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🏈🏈 The American Football Discussion Thread 🏈🏈 on: October 31, 2023, 03:13:43 PM
@moon nice game this week, congrats on beating me and holding off Keenan Allen from making any sort of last minute victory ( not that you personally did, but you know what I mean lol).

Can ya'll belive we are almost at the half way point now.  Crazy how fast time flies. Unfortuntetly we've got an awful Thursday night game (Titans vs Steelers) but, it's still football I suppose.
777  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Bitcoin for everyone? on: October 29, 2023, 08:07:00 PM
You are equating Bitcoin to solely being used as an invent, not even mentioning the true use case for bitcoin, why it was created by Satoshi Nakamoto, what issues it solved (double spending), the move form corrupt fiat money to a decentralized electronic transactions and payments.

Bitcoin was designed to be an investment. I feel it’s a shame so many here fail to understand that.
778  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: You receive 1 bitcoin, but you must spend it on alts or buy something offline... on: October 29, 2023, 08:04:20 PM
Interesting topic. I would put half of it in Ethereum as well. The other half I would put a large percentage in Monero and Litecoin. Besides bitcoin, I believe Monero is the best coin with the best utility. Ethereum is up there but I know it’s become more of a centralized platform that has plenty of issues to deal with (not that Bitcoin doesn’t as well).

ETH- 50%
XMR-25%
LTC- 25%
779  Economy / Economics / Re: Help me analyze the feasibility of this business idea on: October 28, 2023, 07:28:18 PM
I think it's a pretty good idea to ask for others advice but solely as a resource to help gather your thoughts on your future plans.  Depending on where you live in the world, being a teacher may not be as bad as the media makes it out to be.  I know here in the United States many teachers earn a solid wage yet still complain.  Of course, this is not necessarily how the rest of the world operates.

I think there could be more money in option 2, but how about doing what you're most passionate about?
780  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is a “safe haven asset” on: October 28, 2023, 07:22:23 PM
As a licensed financial advisor I vehemently disagree with this statement.  Gold is really the ultimate "safe-haven" asset. Now bitcoin may one day become one, but it is certainly not there yet and it may take many years to get to that point.  Now I do think it's a great asset to own, as well as a great investment, but it shouldn't be considered "safe" by any means.
