a while back there was a link to a nice live btc chart/exchange.

it even had sound to it. It gave like 10 or 15 second live numbers. I can't find the book mark

does anyone have it?

The first link was given last year about this time on the wo thread I am looking but do not see it.

TIA

Please note if I think I gave credit for the image correctly. I pulled it from:

https://www.mcmaster.com/90313A109/

how about using a fender washer.
use center hole screw washer to plywood

drill second hole screw washer in both holes

put new hole at six o'clock

wrap the word at 7-9-11-1-3-5

cost is a piece of plywood.
25 washers
a nut and bolt

when done lightly grease the coins to slow rusting. white lithium grease is good.

(yeah stainless steel can rust)

and you can make a  jig  that holds the punches  using this

7645  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Solar panel config for 24x 3060ti on: January 30, 2022, 05:21:15 PM
I've read some comments in this alt mining section where few people said they are using solar panels for mining crypto I want to know how many solar panels is needed to run 24 RTX3060ti ? I use 150watt per 3060ti so in 24 places that's 3600watts but what's your best solar config for this build?

You have 24 separate 1 card rigs?

You have two  12 card rigs?

It looks like you are saying 24 one card rigs. With the mobo and the fans you will be close to  200 watts.

200 x 24 = 4800 watts a day or 5 kwatts.

if you have a 2kwatt solar setup grid tied. and you have net metering. It will generate 2 x 4 = 8  to 2 x 5 =10 kwatts a day

So a 2000 watt setup grid tied could do a rig 24/7/365

panels are 300 to 400 watts. so 5 to 7 panels could do the 1 card rig

you need an inverter and to be grid tied.

7647  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: HELP! DR5 Antminer Socket connect failed: Connection refused on: January 30, 2022, 12:42:06 AM
Compare the kernel log with one of your other asics.
Socket connection failed looks to me not fans related but more cpu/network related.
The cpu is afaik dual core but only one seems to be working.

I do have to stress my knowledge of asics/arm cpu's is very limited.

when in doubt compared to working gear. This is a good move.
7648  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [SOLVED] RTX 2070 gets only 9MH/s on: January 30, 2022, 12:40:09 AM
Thanks philipma1957! I will.

@Looper_U @sxemini After some days of testing with the 2070 I managed to get 44MH/s with 125W.
I use these settings:
- core: -500
- memory: +1200
- power: 71% (the lowest)
With higher memory (+1300 or +1400) I got also 45MH/s but there were lots of rejected shares.

Those are good numbers. Nice work.

I have a Solo Lottery miner with 333-600 mh/s.
But when i try to see the status of my miner on ckpool it shows 404 not found. What the hell is wrong with my setup?

Your hashrate is so ridiculously small it will take a week for the pool to even register that you're mining.

yes 333mh/s is not high Cheesy its just 4 fun, but still would be nice to see stats ^^
Wait a week and you might see them.

THE SOLAR is what my partners and I do.

Anyone that understands what you are showing knows that all anti BTC info in terms of power wasted is a lie.

Leaved un repaired holes in the ground for more than a century was a huge incentive for coal mining.

instead of that build solar fields with proper incentives if they mine 50% and sell power to the grid 50%

problems solved.

Meh, kind-of a red herring. Those holes can be repaired and can end up looking like pristine countryside within a couple of decades. Then there's also the fact that your solar panels require minerals that need mining.

Not that I'm against solar. I'm just a cynic.

Yeah of course they can be fixed but they are not and that is a subsidy.

If all the filth and holes left in the world had been fixed as they dug coal would have not been cheap.

Coal is not that cheap. Millions of acres have been pillaged world wide with zero spent on repair.

Mean while putting an acre of panels on an empty roof not only clean air it creates more restate.

Most people are  clueless about the feasabilty of solar vs coal.

Notice I do not say dump oil and or gas.

I am in favor of proper oil and natural gas use.

Even coal is okay if utilized properly buy unfortunately it is not used correctly.
7651  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Setting up ASIC mining in India cutting 90% of the electricity cost on: January 30, 2022, 12:16:17 AM
Okay I am certain solar works.

We have 3 grid tied arrays here in NJ

45k
115k
280k getting built.

they will total 440k

the 45k is 1 year old
the 115k is from 2016 fully paid off due to the 2 runs in 2017 and 2021

the 280k is being built from profits.

Good solar installs will last more than 20 years.

WE grid tie because we get a good deal in the state of New Jersey.

Battery do not last long 3-5 years if not lithium

6-10 years if lithium.

If you do a 10k build you may well consider doing a gpu build and not a s19.

Gpu's have longer warrantee

and can use nice hash to earn BTC

you can also use less power  say 2000 watts with the build.

https://minerdude.com/product/x12012022/  you can find this case in a few places.

it will do 12 of these cards

https://www.pny.com/nvidia-rtx-a4000

or 12 of these cards

https://www.pny.com/nvidia-rtx-a4500

or any mixture of them.

much easier for you to demonstrate if your solar idea will work.

and of course you can slowly add the cards to the case.

I have a few cases with mixtures of nvidia cards I am happy with them

It is evident today governments have pushed the idea that Bitcoin is obviously awful for the climate when normal mining leaves scars on the earths surface and requires enormous drills. Are they telling us that Bitcoin miners when contrasted with BIG bores that require fuel and produce more heat then Bitcoin diggers are better for the climate?

utilize reusable energy since it produces more benefit for them in view of power expenses it is practicable to do but the gold and iron miners are not offered an incentive for reusable energy so it will never improve. The drills have huge fuel consumption which you could not replace with batteries. Then think about the spoil which they dump which is cross contamination to the earth. I hate to see btc being known for something it is not and that affects price.

Let this be a lesson that governments and companies do not care about the environment they want to look good and put restrictions on things only when it benefits them.

Dammit just noticed .... Running behind the merit count with fillippone...

damn what am I gonna do? Pee, Food?, Eeeeuhm ...

Naaaah GG @fillippone.

All will be forgiven if Bitcoin hits a new ATH again this year

Currently, we are in the buying phase, where we are totally confused about which miner to buy and which one not to. Please suggest to us the best one in 100/104/110/140 TH.

how many years until the above-mentioned miners die?

And one of my questions is what will be the effect of the profitability of the above miners after the bitcoin halving?

And currently, we are planning to put up the whole setup on a 10kw off-grid solar power system.

10kw solar wont run your miner.

no one can tell you profits 100 days from now and you are asking for profits more than 16 months from now

my best guess for miner life is a week to four years.

10 kwatts  so 4 go to the miner and 6 go to the battery.

If you are in a sunny part of india you will have six hours of full charge over the full day.

so add 6 x 6 = 36 hours charged that is about nine hours run time once it is dark

I would guess a 10kwatt off grid with really good battery setup will give you 18 to 20 hours of mining in a day.

As to which on you should get. Get the one that will come to you in under 30 days time.
7654  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: HELP! DR5 Antminer Socket connect failed: Connection refused on: January 29, 2022, 02:45:56 AM
Hey guys, I run 3 DR5 miners all have run well since purchased (brand new via bitmain). One stopped working decently due to the error:

Hardware Version   Socket connect failed: Connection refused

When I set them up at purchase, same error occurred and I fixed it by rebooting, resetting, however this will not work now.

I think the issue is due to the fans due to the kernel log. My knowledge is close to none with kernel logs, would appreciate any guidance that can be provided.

proper way for a long log.

you asked your question in btc.

it belongs in alt coin mining ⛏ I asked mods to move it.

not sure 🤔 if it is the fans.

as I dont see a pwm reading of zero.

when you dumped the log 🪵 had it shut off?

try another boot 🥾 and right away boot again like only 30 seconds after first boot 🥾.

then boot 🥾 a third time  let it run 35 minutes and dump the log and post it here.

Those are good numbers.  I remember my ~80x 470s ran 3-4 years with <5% failures, but it was clean and fans ~50% also.  the 5700xt fans are 85%+.  I miss my 470s, but they were all 4G.  They were also all Sapphires.  EVGA and Sapphire is my top tier if I had a list.  Nice to see you have a lot more gear, must of been fun setting it all up.  I really hate wood burning - I put a MPR2200 filter on my air intake for the furnace outside the house.  I bet within a week it'll be black.

Yeah the room the asics are in is very dirty even with filters. The gpu room is a lot cleaner.
7656  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: RTX 3050 what plans? on: January 29, 2022, 12:58:24 AM
Mining is dead. But you don't know it yet.
Tell the owners of 25 million video cards that mine Ethereum about this, Mr. Troll Smiley
https://etherscan.io/chart/hashrate
The fact that the RTX 3050 is useless in mining is actually great news for other miners - there will be fewer competitors.

Well my advice is mine on. But don't buy a shit ton of new cards for a while.

If you post back here I can teach you how to mine on ckpool very cheaply with that gpu.

here is what you do.  you open an account with nicehash and mine that gpu to nicehash. It will earn btc not much but it will earn it.  Once your nice hash account gets to 0.001 btc or more you rent btc hash from nice hash and point it to ckpool.org

I do this with an omen laptop. every 20 days it earns 0.001 btc I then point that to ckpool.org or Laurentiapool.org. Ck created both pools.

My cost is under 2 kwatts a day about 25 cents USD So every 20 days I have a chance to hit big. at a low cost of 5 or 6 bucks power.
7659  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Number 9! Ninth altcoin thread. Back to the moon Baby! on: January 28, 2022, 07:11:54 PM
Just a random post about fan quality on gpus.  I have a bunch of 5700xt.  Here are failure rates (bad fans/total) after 18 months give or take.  Area had quite a bit of dust i'm afraid to say due to people heating mainly with wood in my area, which on a sidenote, is retarded for many reasons.  PM2.5 is frequently elevated depending on weather conditions.  Normal dust filters do not capture micro particles.
Sapphire dual : 0 %
Asus dual : 25%
Asrock dual: 10 %
XFX triple : 15%
The Sapphire Pulse dual fans are top notch, I would sell all the others and just keep those.

Yeah we have some dust issues.

My msi amd tend to fail the most often

So far of 200 cards all makes and models

4 evga 1080ti one is over heating a bit I have it very down clocked and it runs okay

all the rest are amd 5000 and amd 6000 series. 1 failed  power color 5700 1 failed ASRock 5500 mobo short. 2 failed msi 5600 fans I have about 80 of these mixed

along with nvidia 3000 series = perfect about 80 for 800

not sure how to list the card below all are Nov 2021 or newer
pny a2000 4 for 4 good
Lenovo a4000 = 4 for 4 good
pny a4000 = 40 for 40 good
pny a4500 = 2 for 2 good
pny a5000 = 7 for 7 good.

when I mine
I aways shoot for fans at 75% or lower
I also try low power say 55 to 70% of tdp

so I tend to always be lower than max mh/s but cards work and work and work.

I am just about 9gh eth hash
7660  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Why continue mining in loss on: January 28, 2022, 04:16:24 PM
I will show you 2 reasons at two pools as to  why you can mine at  loss for years.

https://pool.laurentiapool.org/#/miners

Look at 3rd miner

146...gx3

it mines at a loss because this pool very rarely hits blocks
it may not hit a block for a year.

http://mmpool.org/statistics

look at miner 8 c932f3ed   0.02207597   5,875,431,605   6,299,196

it may not hit a block for a year.

but the upside is they would earn close to a btc if they do hit a block

Think of it this way I give you 1500 to 1 odds on a 3 digit number 000 to 999 you get to play  1 number for a dollar each day.

A) is that gambling?
B) is that playing at a loss
C) or is it a deeper understanding of game theory in that you are doing a lost cost high risk  high payout investment?

And the answer is c.  If you disagree you simply do not understand the math and are incorrect.

So if you can make your  mining at a daily loss into the c case example or the 2 mmpool.org and Laurentiapool.org examples you are not mining at a loss it merely looks that way.

A third example buy this laptop

https://www.bestbuy.com/site/hp-omen-16-1-qhd-gaming-laptop-intel-core-i7-16gb-memory-nvidia-geforce-rtx-3070-1tb-ssd-ceramic-white/6479084.p?skuId=6479084

mine it for 45 days and return it.

It will earn about 0.002 btc
It will cost about 110 kwatts of power that is  about $15.40 usd

point the 0.002 btc to ck solo pool rent at nice hash.

odds of hitting a block are about 3125 to 1.  3125 x 15.40 = that is about 48125 payout maybe with fees the odds are higher and a fair payout is 55000

but what is the payout if you hit the block 6.15 x 37000 = 227550

so you are risking 15.40 usd to have a 3125-3300 shot at 227,550 when you should be paid 48125-55000

a perfect example of question c.

Now anyone that thinks this is gambling  simply does not understand :

C) or is it a deeper understanding of game theory in that you are doing a lost cost high risk  high payout investment?
