They say math is absolute. Indeed it is. And when we talk of dice rolls and coin tosses, the math will tell you that there is not a single strategy that can be developed out of it as regards the outcome. This is pure gambling. You cannot use anything or summon no one but luck.

But perhaps you can count on betting on the inside after 10 successive rolls with an outside outcome. That is one "method" I am using. But then again you could end up rolling 10 more times and it is always outside that comes out. If that happens, you just have to get out and accept that luck is not on your side.
7643  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Manny Pacquiao vs Keith Thurman on July 20 on: July 21, 2019, 09:38:02 AM
That first round knock down also knock the confidence of Thurman out of the fight. Manny was the faster boxer at the first half of the fight and accumulate those points for the split decision. In fairness to Thurman, he is not a dirty fighter unlike Horn and a strong boxer as he did not go down when the Pacman hit him with the liver shot. Right hook did wonder for Manny on that fight.
Just like what other fighters say, one punch to the face can change how you approach the match. It was smart of Thurman to change his strategy because if he did not, it would not go the distance. Keith landed some good shots too but unlucky for him, Manny still hits harder even in his 40's.

He got aggressive from the 7th round  but it's too late for him as he was already dominated in the first 6 rounds.
Manny deseve the win but he is not as though as he was before, this should be an easy fight for him if he was still younger, I think he needs to retire soon.

I guess we share the same opinion. But what do you expect from someone who will already cross 40 this coming December? I was rooting for Manny in this fight. It was a great fight especially because it has a great opening round. It even made me think that the fight would not last until the 12th round. It didn't. Both fighters are already showing signs of slowing down. Still worth the watch though! Great job to both fighters.
7644  Local / Others (Pilipinas) / Re: [DISCUSSION] Candidate for the next Merit Source. on: July 21, 2019, 06:17:51 AM
I am thinking of these 3 people:

The responsibility of a local merit source is a bit tiresome. He/she does not only regularly read posts made by local members who are by the hundreds, but also assesses them whether or not they are deserving of a merit. It is not enough that you have found a single great post and give it a merit, because it could be that it may be a good post but way out of the topic being discussed, or perhaps a great post but not really responding to what the OP is asking. So you will have to go through the entire conversation, if possible. Moreover, a lot of posts are great but if you try to scroll up, they are merely based on a post/s already made by someone else, merely paraphrased. They do not deserve even a single merit for me however great their posts appear.

It is also much preferable that a merit source is also one who is posting well-informed, constructive, and on-topic posts himself. Otherwise, it is very ironic or even unacceptable that a merit source is also a poor and arrogant poster.

And so I think it is best if such responsibility is shared by more than one merit source. The names I mentioned above are obviously quality posters. But of course I'm not sure if they are open to accept such burden, except crwth because he himself applied for it.

I can say I'm pretty effective...

Don't get offended, my friend. This is all for the betterment of our board.

Quote
the posts which is worthy to be Merited are getting few...

I agree that the posts which are worth giving merits to are very few. Sometimes, visiting the local board is even sad because the last post you read when you leave is still the same last post you are reading when you get back after several hours. There are only a handful of hot threads as well.

Where have all the Pinoys gone?  Huh

Grin
7646  Local / Others (Pilipinas) / [Kwento]Lumingon sa Pinanggalingan at Mamangha on: July 20, 2019, 03:57:24 PM

At guess what! Palpak pa! Hanggang $25 lang ang pinakamataas na bid. Masyado daw mataas ang $50 starting bid. Isang napakalaking LOL!  Grin

I never trust any government blindly, they often say what the people want to hear, and they actually do something completely different.

I don't mind. For as long as it's Jair Bolsonaro who's talking.  Grin

I would be curious to see the stance from Canada`s leader, I know we accept it to pay taxes in one city. We also see it as a asset and have to claim it and pay taxes on it, thankfully Trudeau will be gone this year.

I would also like to know Germany`s stance, Israel`s and Britain's

Lol, poor India Sad

Anyways great post +1

Thanks!

I hope we can hear something from the leaders of the countries you mentioned. It is always interesting!

This is really a nice illustration and it really gets my attention.
Great work, nice infographics...

Due credit is given to cointelegraph. The contents in the OP are not mine. I only edited them a little to properly fit in the post. The source link is at the bottom.

I will try to provide updates if the source adds more. It is much better if more leaders will have statements on the matter. This will give us an idea albeit rough as to how their country takes on the rising popularity and influence of Bitcoin.

And I thought they banned Bitcoin in China, I thought I am mistaken or this is in the past?

Most of the statements are made in 2019. There are least 3 that were made in 2018 including Xi Jinping's.

However, the latest news in China, the other day to be exact, regarding Bitcoin is a positive one.

Another article from cointelegraph has it that a second court in China, the Hangzhou Internet Court, has effectively ruled on Bitcoin as a "virtual property". Thus the legality. The People's Bank of China, the central bank of the country, did not oppose. In fact, it affirms that Bitcoin is indeed a "virtual proeprty" but not a currency. Just the same, it is a welcoming news.

I am from the Philippines and I am waiting, having a thought that President Rodrigo Duterte has a statement about this...

I cannot say that President Duterte has or has no knowledge about Bitcoin or crypto but the latest news coming from the Philippine central bank emphasized more on warning the public on the possible risks on the use of cryptocurrency.

The good thing about the situation in the Philippines is that the central bank itself intends to regulate cryptocurrency use. While it is focusing mainly on its use as a technology for payment and remittances and other similar services, there are at least 10 exchanges that are already in existence duly registered with the central bank.

It appears that the country is very much open for cryptocurrency.

7650  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Manny Pacquiao vs Keith Thurman on July 20 on: July 20, 2019, 08:17:45 AM
Last day to place our bets with two of our favourite boxers in the world, Manny Pacquiao vs Kieth Thurman.

Odds are really favoured for manny and thurman just really getting higher and higher for his odds. All predictions bets manny to win (I hope so Grin), but thurman is not that easy to fight with because of his undefeated record. Let the greatest showman begin.

Yeah Thurman is not an easy opponent. Only if Manny has no speed then he will be defeated but with the current situation, Manny has it power and speed so betting on Manny even with this small odds is worth it than betting on Thurman.
We kept on saying that Manny has the advantage on speed and power and while it is true, the only thing that bettors are hesitant to put their bet on Manny is due to his age. To prove the doubters wrong, Manny is training hard so that he would be impressive tomorrow.

One thing that gives Manny distinction from other boxers is his training ethics. His entire success inside the boxing ring and even outside can be attributed largely to his determination in whatever he does. When it comes to boxing, his training focus is unparalleled. Thus, even at this relatively old age, young and undefeated fighters like Thurman cannot remain complacent. The bettors are very much aware of this. The odds are clear about this.
7651  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling Strategy on: July 20, 2019, 07:56:24 AM
There are gambling that involves analysis and knowledge. Sports betting, for example, may sound as a simple gambling game but in particular it may also involve a little analysis. You do not just make your bet, you will have to know the teams or individuals involved, their records, capacities, and make your own assessment. In this way, your chances of winning has moved a little higher.

7654  Local / Pamilihan / Re: DEX's KYC on: July 19, 2019, 02:43:24 PM
7655  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: IDEX is complying to KYC and other regulations on: July 19, 2019, 02:32:53 PM
I read the announcement yesterday and I was shocked. I have known idex to be a semi-decentralized exchange but I didn't know it will get to these full centralized qualities. The question that begs for answer remains if cryptocurrency is gradually getting forced into centralization
It is hard to accept for some traders who likely enjoying the service being semi-decentralized exchange. In my own opinion it would be easier for them not to accept regulations for the dignity of the members in the community.
But also put in consideration the plight of their exchange too because the government had been on their neck for regulations. Although I won't blame them for their action but this idea is bad as they where known to be decentralized.

That is the worse thing. IDEX's conversion into a centralized exchange is not just their loss but a win of the government regulators. It is sad that IDEX has to bid good bye as a DEX not out of their willful choice but because they are compelled to do so. Well, it is for their continuous operation.

IDEX has been my choice ever since EtherDelta went astray. I have been using centralized exchanges mostly for now. I cannot say which DEX I will be shifting in case I need one.

7660  Other / Politics & Society / Re: The Futility of Redistribution of Wealth on: July 19, 2019, 12:12:41 PM
Redistribution of wealth is an undying issue that has been hotly debated and pushed forward in a lot of ways, legal or illegal. Taxation and other monetary policies are among the legal ways. Illegal ways would include a Robin Hood way of equalizing wealth- robbing from the rich and then giving away to the poor.

When concerns of poor countries are discussed, the issue would seem to inevitably swerve into redistribution of wealth. When the topic on the table is all about the top billionaires of the world, it will eventually end up an issue of a handful of wealthy elites worth more than the total worth of billions and billions of the world's poorest, or even of countries. When concerns about quality of life is talked about, it becomes a perfect opening topic about the dichotomy between the rich and the poor, the privileged and the deprived, and so on.

I say, even if god will one day confiscate all the wealth of the world and redistributes them equally to everyone, a week is too long for the world to revert to its previous situation. It will just be a matter of days for a few to become wealthy and others penniless.

If one day god will redistribute all minerals equally to all countries, a year later some would become more powerful while others would end up borrowing from the others.

If an entire piece of land is equally divided among all the inhabitants, half a year later, someone would turn into a vast farm owner while some become his mere workers.

It is always an interesting topic to have a discussion on. You are right that inequality seems very difficult, if not impossible to completely eradicate. But I guess a key point is how much you believe in the idea of a meritocracy, since a meritocratic system would justify any existing inequality. Simply being born in a poor country, I would say, greatly reduces your chances for financial success. I agree inequality cannot be eradicated, but surely small efforts can be made for a fairer system to allow those who deserve it to rise to the top.

Inequality cannot be eradicated. That is the truth. But it is never enough reason not to pursue its opposite. Inequality, for me, cannot be justified by any system. I am speaking of equality in terms of dignity, rights, etc. In terms of material possession and endowment, equality is pointless. Fairness is the right thing.

Quote
I would be interested to know what type of freedom you believe in for an individual, a "positive" or "negative" one?

Both negative and positive freedom are necessary for an individual to succeed in life. One's capabilities, however brilliant and ingenious they may be, might be put into naught if external constraints are numerous and difficult enough to overcome.
