Gold Parity, here we come.

Updating, I went out this morning so I could get an 8 GB card to put the V2.5 Image on:  Noncerate: 459.189GH/s - 441 W at the wall.  So, I think I am at the point where it is just tweaking now.  IE:  upgrading to the v3 chainminer, tinkering with the voltages, and shuffling the weaker cards to the last slots of the groups.

can you post the link to the V2.5 image?  is that the latest version for v3 m boards and v2.2 h boards?

Last night my bitfury rig stopped mining on us1.ghash.io:3333  Specifically only my worker1 account.

Turns out my worker1 no longer mines on us1.ghash.io:3333.

it mines on nl1.ghash.io:3334[/b]

I ran into that same issue recently trying to mine on btcguild using the MPBM software.

It seems that not all mining software handles the stratum "client reconnect" message, where the pool asks the client to change hosts.

I'm guessing the included ChainMiner software also does not handle that message correctly.

(that's just a guess).

ok, this is weird.

i too am finding one of my miners won't mine on BTCGuild, Slush, or Ozcoin all of a sudden.

i think it's Chainminer.

What's chainminer doing?
Code:
sudo screen -r `sudo screen -r | grep -m1 Detached | cut -b2-7`

too late.  i already rebooted.

something for sure though with cm.

i'm now back on the pool.

which just goes to show that chainminer needs a failover mode.

i haven't heard anybody talk about bad slots.

for instance, i have an m board where slots 1 & 3 in bank 1 appear to be dead.  i've swapped multiple good h boards that previously were hashing @ 32-36 into these slots and they won't even boot up beyond 0.  how do you deal with that?

another weird thing is, given those facts, why does Xian's strategy of swapping good cards to the front of the m board even work?  does anyone understand the organizational structure of how voltage flows thru the 4 banks and 16 slots?  Dave insinuated the concept of a bank doesn't apply for newer boards (v3 m boards) here:

"Don't pay attention to the Bank 1, Bank 2, etc.  Those line up for V2 M-boards.  The numbers of the slots do line up as 1-16 map to 1 - 9, A - F.  There, you can see the output of each H-card."

why did you need the voltmeter then?

Used it to troubleshoot and identify the 3 h-cards I requested an RMA for. Took a voltmeter to all the cards in the second rig while testing 16 cards one-by-one.

Also used the voltmeter to tune a couple Erupter Blades I have a while back.

Seems like a good geek tool to have in any respectable tool-bag either way.

good info.  already seeing some results from your card rotation strategy.

any pics as to exactly where you put your probe tips?  there must be a link somewhere.  also how do you reach into the middle slots to measure?  doesn't seem like enough room.
7689  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] US/North American Bitfury sales now open ***full prototype pics*** on: November 16, 2013, 06:41:58 PM
*Facepalm*  Someone please tell me they have a copy of the Vanilla V3 image, or that one of the older ones works?  I was shipped a blank SD card.

And, yes, I did have the sense to plug it into a PC to try to back it up prior to inserting it in the Pi.

Edit:  Bah, V2 won't fit on the card and GandalfG's image, while booted, isn't generating any hashes.  I don't know if it's my rig or not, yet.

Login with ssh and check what chainminer is doing:
Code:
sudo screen -r | grep -m1 Detached | cut -b2-7

i tried that command and got back a 4377..

what does that mean?

i thought THEY said it's possible to track all this stuff.
7691  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] US/North American Bitfury sales now open ***full prototype pics*** on: November 16, 2013, 04:39:28 PM
what did you do to get them going at that speed?
anyone have a recommendation for a voltmeter?

Played a game of "musical h-cards" where I ran the rig for about 5 minutes, took note of which cards were faster than others, shutdown, moved the faster cards to the front, and slower cards to the back, restart, etc.

Also, FANS FANS FANS ! Lots of airflow ! These guys really need to stay cool and ventilated.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005EK3NRS/ is what I'm using to tune my gear.

nice job.  i think i can do that.

why did you need the voltmeter then?

check the voltage on the cards when running to determine how to best tune the trimpot.
0.78V is about as low as you should go, even without heatsinks
0.8-0.83V is good if you have reasonable airflow and no heatsinks
0.84-0.88V is good if you have reasonable airflow AND heatsinks
0.9V-0.95V if you have LOTS of airflow and heatsinks. might be hard to get this high if you have more than 8 cards in the rig due to the close proximity of eachother's heat

is there a pic showing the exact placement required of the probes during measurement?  so you measure while it's powered up?  how do you get to the boards in the middle like slot 9?

Has anyone had success contacting sales re: RMA's ? Have been waiting on a response for an RMA on 3 bad h-cards Sad

RMA issues aside, these rigs are beasts once they are configured and placed in an environment with proper cooling ! The one full rig I have up and running has settled around 535 GHs !

Code:
dd if=/dev/sdx of=/path/to/image bs=1M

how do i determine what sdx and /path/to/image is in Ubuntu?
Just type df and you should see the sd card and known which /dev/sdx it is.
Why do you want to copy the bad card ?
Why not just download a fresh image and write it to a new sd card ?

i have a good card to copy from.

do you have a link to download a fresh image for v2.2 h boards, and v3 m boards?
7696  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: [GUIDE] BitFury Miner Support/Tuning on: November 15, 2013, 09:00:13 PM
all of a sudden got a dead rig.

i can ssh in but don't get the normal log printout on login nor can i call up a stat.log.  raspi has green, red, yellow lights as normal but 0 hashing.  tried rebooting to no avail.

any suggestions?
Had same problem. In my case there was two burned boards. Remove all boards except one in each bus, try again. If it work add one board by one.
In my case two boards was burned.
Ciao

that doesn't even work even with diff h boards in the first slot.  still can ssh in but no stat.log.  can still access BF GUI but 0 hashing.

does this imply a defective M board?
1 - start Chainminer manually sudo /opt/bitfury/start-miner-console.sh and check log.
2 - Try other SDcard and RasPi
3 - Check 1V8  and 3V3 on M-Board - You can measure 1V8 on coil L01 and 3V3  pin 1 Raspberry socked.

well there you go.  bad sd card.

need to copy image over to bad card.

by running this:

Code:
dd if=/dev/sdx of=/path/to/image bs=1M

how do i determine what sdx and /path/to/image is in Ubuntu?

this is what lsblk returns:

Code:
sr0                    11:0    1  1024M  0 rom
mmcblk0               179:0    0   3.7G  0 disk
├─mmcblk0p1           179:1    0    56M  0 part  /media/alienware/boot
└─mmcblk0p2           179:2    0   3.4G  0 part  /media/alienware/9c7e2035-df9b-

Well put!

IMHO the issue with the current system is across the board our "thought leaders" (i.e. those in positions to advise and create/influence policy) are universally those who bought into the conformity thinking you described so well. Just look at path one HAS to go through to become a FED chairman. It requires going to a top economics program, accepting the concensus line of thinking as fact, and becoming highly regarded in that field by publishing papers that most other experts agree with.

By definition, those who go outside the norm are not seen positively and do not advance in the field. Engineering/science fields are at least grounded in a physcial world, it is possible to later prove who is right, but economics & public policy have no such feedback mechanism and as a result can go down false paths for generations. Worse is these fields are coruptable due to their proximity to money/power politics.

poor Ben Bearhonkme. he must be thinking that he did nothing wong in his life! he went to school, got good drades, his parents told him to stay away from drugs so he never touched them, got a nice job, did it very nicely and always followed exact orders from the top. he recommended himself as extremely reliable person and got the top job in the field. he must be clueless as to where he went wrong in his life. - as you can see these sort of people are unable to think for themselves and only follow orders whether its from his parents, teachers or bosses. i bet there is a bunch of old boys above him getting stoned weekly and thinking what other humiliating thing they can make Ben say for everyone to hate him and him only!

The Fed Chairmanship represents the ultimate in centralization.

why else create a Fed and stick one whipping boy into that position?  manipulate him to the max.  profit.

A proper case to mount everything to would do it:

Send me a PM.   Roll Eyes

I have two of his custom bitfury case's and work great.

I've been eyeing them for over a month.  I am currently trying to figure out how to use that top plate to keep the cards from moving in the PCIe slot.  Is it close enough for double sided tape?

The cards are secured in place by plastic spacers.

can those fan banks be moved forward or backwards to bring them closer to the h boards?
