7701  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How to make money from Bitcoin in 2021 on: February 10, 2021, 08:37:37 AM
few ways to make money from BTC:

The list is wrong and deceitful. Sorry. This just lures newbies into losing time and money.
* Day trading is by far not for everybody. One may gain many days in a row, but if he doesn't know what is he doing, sooner or later will lose more than all those gains, since the market is very volatile and hard to predict.
* Mining is expensive and needs extremely cheap electricity. Lists like this can send newbies ask how can they mine Bitcoin with their CPU...
* Investing. One has to have money he can afford to lose, else FOMO will strike and will buy high and sell low.
* Selling.. OK, maybe..
* Yield farming. With so many scams and with current Bitcoin rise it was better and safer to just hold Bitcoin. The DeFi can be interesting, but it's far too young and far too risky.
* Airdrops. Those usually ask for many tasks and pay some pennies here and there. No.
* Surveys. Again, mostly work for pennies. And the result will be only high tx fees when one will want to make use of those Bitcoin

No. It's easier. Bitcoin is money. Plain and simple. Money.
How to get money? Work for it. Whatever you earn and it's surplus, can be kept as Bitcoin. Indeed, if one earns altcoins or fiat, those have to be exchanged to Bitcoin first. But really, that's all.
7702  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Unconfirmed transaction & wrong adress appearing ***REWARD 200 USD*** on: February 10, 2021, 06:44:02 AM
you'll most likely need to use -zapwallettxes command line argument

Actually that is no longer available starting with Bitcoin Core 0.21.0, as you can read here.
The new option available is abandontransaction (but I still have to read myself more on that)

Also OP transaction is from 2020...

Should I abandon transaction?

Should I wait?

The transaction is confirmed for more than 6 months. Wait and abandon are out of question.
I think that what you should do is to make a copy of the wallet.dat (if you haven't) and then restart Bitcoin Core with -rescan. You can read more here.
But if you are in pruning mode that would mean yet another full download of the blockchain, hence I'd wait for more ideas.
7703  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why was Musk so late to the party? / or Publically support BTC on: February 10, 2021, 06:36:06 AM
Why then was he so late to support BTC?

Late? Not at all! Bitcoin is still extremely young. Bitcoin is still not known or not understood by most of this world population.
And imho Bitcoin is still poorly regulated making it rather difficult for companies to join the party.
Keep in mind that we are here a rather small group. The world is way much bigger than this.

And I think that compared to Bitcoin, he entered "late" into cars or space industries, but most probably even there he is not late at all. And he's doing a good job.
7704  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum and change addresses on: February 10, 2021, 06:24:04 AM
As said, change addresses are ... just addresses.
The point of having change addresses is to have a new one available every time you need them, i.e. when you make new transactions.
If you add by hand one or two addresses will not really be what Electrum expects (from change addresses point of view)

If you want to get most of Electrum, I think that the better move is to wait for the price stabilize and then the transaction fees drop, and then transfer your coins to an address from newly created Electrum wallet.
Since Electrum is HD wallet, it generates all the addresses from the same seed, so it brings you more advantages. And some of those addresses will be seen as change addresses.

Thank you Best_Change for giving me the opportunity to participate in your great campaign.
The conditions are very good, the way the campaign is managed is also very good, I am sure that this will keep attracting very good posters.

As I've told you in PM a couple of days ago too, I'll be changing now my signature.

7707  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I messed up and feel terrible about it on: February 09, 2021, 05:04:16 PM
And I couldn't agree more, in the worst case scenario, I've lost around 40 Euros, it's definitely not the end of the world. There are others who have sold (Myself included, at some other instances) at a lower price, or have spent them in the early days.

I'm hoping for a slight correction, to buy back the amount I sold and some more to set aside.

Keep in mind that if there will not be any correction in the near future, there's also the chance that the 40 EUR were not the worse case.
As I said, I don't know what's going to happen next. Trading is fine only for those who can "read the trend" and can also take the safety measures to limit the loses.
7708  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: February 09, 2021, 02:48:21 PM
40k € will probably be broken today.

And even if it won't, it still looks wonderful.

About Chinese New Year, I haven't got a clue as to what the effect to the market is going to be. I have a lot of Chinese friends, but only one of them is a coiner, and a hardcore HoDLer, so he doesn't follow market trends, etc. (he's very happy though—he listened to me in 2016, and bought 2.7 BTC for a total of $1100!)

Hehe, lucky guy.
Chinese New Year is somewhat expected to come with a pullback. But with the current rocket fuel, this year it may just slow the growth a little bit Smiley
7709  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: How to transfer bitcoin from Bitcoin Core wallet.dat file to a hardware wallet on: February 09, 2021, 02:34:59 PM
If I understood well, if I want to import the private keys from wallet.dat, I need to download another software?
But what if I just want to send the coins to Trezor in the easiest way possible with the least hassle possible? Can I do it just by downloading the whole blockchain, wait til it syncs up, load the wallet.dat file with the coin in it, restart BC and send the coin from BC to my Trezor wallet address plus the associated transaction fee? In which case I won't even need to get the private keys? Wouldn't that be the easiest way? Thank you.

Of course that you can sync Bitcoin Core. Just since the blockchain is very big, you'll need plenty of disk space (more than 300GB) and plenty of patience, since depending on the computer specs it may take a lot of time.
If that's OK for you, go for it.
Since you've started with dumprivkeys, then transfer, I guess that people (at least I did) have assumed at start that you want to use Electrum (or similar) afterwards, for transferring the funds and avoiding to downloading the blockchain.

Electrum (which is indeed another wallet software) needs seconds to sync and doesn't store the whole blockchain (it relies on other servers do that for you).
But Electrum needs to be verified, the transfer of private key is considered risky because malware can "see" that and steal your funds (especially on windows)... Well, you need to be careful.

So it's up to you after all what path you continue on.
7710  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I messed up and feel terrible about it on: February 09, 2021, 02:13:43 PM
I sold my almost last bit of Bitcoin I had, (about 0.03 BTC)

This is how FOMO looks like: buying or selling without thinking much.
If you buy back now, then you've lost about 38 EUR. If you buy back later, who knows? I don't. Maybe you'll make a better business or a worse one, depending if/when/how big a correction could be.

If you think you can foresee the movements, use the opportunities and trade.
If you think you can't, 38 EUR is not a too expensive lesson, buy back and hold for much-much longer, no matter how the market moves, especially in the near future.
But keep in mind that if you do this then can also afford to lose all those funds. The chance for this is thin, but exactly the fact that you are playing with funds you don't afford to lose may make you make bad moves.
7711  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: February 09, 2021, 07:33:10 AM
40k € milestone near-broken in Euro-land...

I know that's not a reference exchange for the price, but it did touch 39999 EUR on Binance  Grin

Now a rather unpopular thought: will a correction overlap with Chinese New Year?
7712  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Hype around DOGE on: February 09, 2021, 07:11:09 AM
I'm not seeing the chance for doge to be accepted as a currency consider it has unlimited supply.

You know, USD has better acceptance than Bitcoin and USD has unlimited supply.
Actually the unlimited supply makes it more suitable as replacement for "cash" or "fiat" in day by day payments.

The real problems of Dogecoin are
* this unlimited supply makes it sort of black sheep in the crypto world where the trend it to make coins with limited supply.
* this unlimited supply makes it potentially bad investment.
* since it was created as a meme coin, (too) many don't take it serious.

It's nice. Hi-Lo game for free, yay! It can be a good place to send all those believing in Martingale, for example  Roll Eyes
In order to improve the game, I'd say that at least a "max" button is also needed (to gamble the whole balance). Maybe a "min" too?

Edit: also when somebody enters something bigger than allowed max, you better replace with max instead of keeping the first chars in the string

7715  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Privacy coins. How much do you think we need them? on: February 08, 2021, 10:45:28 AM
if I used my BTC for 7 years straight without purchasing anything with it or so and then I suddenly make a payment, that's where my address starts getting marked with my identity. AI is advanced enough to do this kind of stuff automatically and constantly.

That's correct. But I am sure that many can be careful enough to keep his coins in multiple wallets and even if they make payments, only a small part of his wallets will get revealed. Then I guess that mixers will keep coming up for those who want to "start fresh".
If change addresses are properly used, they will not be able to track all those addresses with good enough precision for linking them to actual persons.
And if change addresses are used properly, the agencies will have a lot of DB space spent for addresses used in 2 tx (one in, one out) and when we'll have proper adoption ... I don't want to see how will they handle their databases  Grin
7716  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: OK BITCOINERS, which one of you is this? on: February 08, 2021, 08:00:03 AM
So there are still stories coming out written in such a way to make the weak minds believe that the bitcoiners are criminals  Smiley
That "cryptocurrency trader" part seems to be written in a way like the guys would sell cyber-drugs  Smiley

Interesting. Some are really desperate to keep general public off this Bitcoin phenomenon...
7717  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Privacy coins. How much do you think we need them? on: February 08, 2021, 07:43:38 AM
That is until authorities get to monitor everyone's addresses - they would deny your argument and suddenly fall in love with Bitcoin. They're already doing it. It's the wet dream of a communist thinker: having an overview of everyone's wallets.

Given the immense number of "potential" addresses, governments monitoring all of them is virtually impossible.
Of course, most are careless and claim that they have nothing to hide, hence actually helping governments' surveillance.

Of course, privacy coins are necessary and I do hope that they will survive the continuous assault against them.
On the other hand, with every day passing by there are more criminals that will use privacy coins instead of Bitcoin, proving the viability of these coins, but making the governments' actions intensify.
I would hate to see privacy coins remain "alive" only on darknet...
7718  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: USDT To USD/EURO on: February 07, 2021, 03:32:31 PM
Is there any service/website that convert USDT to USD or EURO?

I want to minimize cost by not converting USDT to BTC/ETH before converting to USD/EURO.

Beware that it matters a lot where you want to get those USD or EURO "delivered". For example if you use a centralized exchange you will probably have to pay for the bank transfer.

BestChange.com is an aggregator where you will be able to choose from a good number of services to exchange your USDT to whatever you want. You'll be able to select on which blockchain your coins are and also select what kind of USD/EUR you want to receive.
You can read more here or use it directly.

Disclaimer: keep in mind that I am wearing BestChange paid signature. However, this doesn't make the service bad, it's actually great that you can read on Bitcointalk about it.
7719  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Ledger and USD-Digital (PAX) on: February 07, 2021, 03:12:42 PM
Hello. I've ordered a ledger nano x and should arrive soon.

I have a blockchain wallet where there's usd-digital crypto stored in. I've seen it's ERC-20 token, but only on blockchain it's called USD-Digital (Before that it was USDPAX). I wonder how can i transfer those usd digital money to my new ledger?

I am not familiar with USDPAX, the only coin with similar name that seems to be supported by Ledger is Paxos. But you'll really have to check if it's the same token (i.e. has the same contract address).

On the other hand, even if Ledger may not have specific app for this, you should be able to use Ledger for it (of course, you should work with small amounts for tests and you should make sure you know what you are doing). What I mean is that I have used my Ledger with an ERC-20 token that's not supported by Ledger, but I opened MEW connected to my Ledger, I've entered the contract address and I've used it like any other token (you have to enable tokens in the Ledger's ETH wallet app).
