7761  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: HitBTC.com is big scam on: November 27, 2020, 10:15:21 AM
Yea.. though I'm not sure if they're literally scamming or if they're just unnecessarily really tight with their AML/KYC demands, HitBTC have got a lot of scam accusations here on Bitcointalk and on other communities already. I wish you the best, though definitely don't touch that exchange again if it just so happens that you gain back access to your money(hopefully).

There have been a few Reddit posts that claim that it was just a tedious KYC process so I wouldn't lose hope just yet.

Hitbtc scam was in fact just a long KYC verification - False alarm!
I think HitBTC just scammed me and I have it documented (last line: "A week after my Reddit post, my account has been unblocked and I have my funds")
7762  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What do you guys think of this stock $KHRIF? on: November 27, 2020, 09:29:37 AM
Interesting.. they're invested in Wasabi and Samourai. I'm personally not interested in Monero(XMR) and whatever this Chia thing is, though.

Regardless, though I might be interested in having investments in both privacy apps, I'd just buy bitcoin instead to be honest. Wasabi and Samourai's success depends on Bitcoin's success anyway, so why not just buy bitcoin instead?
7763  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: WOMAN WHO CREATED A FAKE BITCOIN STILL ON THE RUN. WILL THE POLICE GET HER? on: November 27, 2020, 08:57:40 AM
In my opinion she was just a figurehead, dummy but not stupid. Nobody knows the real masters of this scam and who stood behind the scene but to run such a scheme you must have big money too.

I don't think so. While she's definitely not the only one that should be pursued by the government(and that some of her company colleagues are probably just as wicked as her, or probably worse), I doubt that a founder of such a scam would just be a figurehead.

A "figurehead" would fit more for a person probably like the famous Bitconnect's Carlos Matos(the bald "BITCONNEEEEEEEECT" guy).
7764  Economy / Speculation / Re: The ultimate Black Friday Sale on: November 27, 2020, 08:03:49 AM
It seems to be like a black friday sale, until it drops further lol. I almost always get really skeptical when people on Reddit, Twitter, and Bitcointalk are overly bullish. Though of course, the dollar-cost averaging continues regardless.
7765  Other / Off-topic / Re: Depending on Google play store safety, is it really safe? on: November 27, 2020, 07:57:47 AM
The most trusted crypto wallets and app on playstore always have the highest ratings and downloads, popular crypto wallet like trust wallet has over one million downloads so far, that's because it's legit and no single bad review yet, let that sink in newbies, don't go on playstore trying out new crypto wallets, Scammers aren't smiling right now

The thing though is, on the Google Play Store, ratings and downloads can somehow be faked; and we've seen that with the dozens of fake MEW wallets we've seen on the Google Play Store in the past.

A better solution would mostly be to go to the wallet's official website, and open the linked Google Play Store link.

If you want great replies from the community, you might want to specify at least what device(or what OS) you're using, and what features you're looking for.

But in general, in my opinion:

Desktop: Wasabi Wallet https://wasabiwallet.io/
Mobile: BlueWallet https://bluewallet.io/

7769  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Ways against BTC confiscation. on: November 27, 2020, 04:04:03 AM
Of course they can not confiscate things they do not know about. But in case you are under investigation or someone from your contacts is, it will not be too hard to learn about your assets in crypto, wallets and so on. Of course it is great to use platforms that tell us about anonymacy, but this anonymacy is a bit conditional. In case some person will attract attention of such bodies or agencies it will not take too much time to learn in deep lots of about you and your assets.

Yes. But the trick is, try your best to don't get yourself to a situation that you're actually going to be under investigation. Yes, a lot of us have used centralized exchanges in the past(and probably until now), but it's not too late to switch as to prevent further data from being collected.

Also, take a look at "plausible deniability".
7770  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: WOMAN WHO CREATED A FAKE BITCOIN STILL ON THE RUN. WILL THE POLICE GET HER? on: November 27, 2020, 03:24:43 AM
AFAIK, the scam was mostly done offline. It was mostly an affiliate thing - basically as soon as you joined, you'd have to gather other people to invest in it and you'd supposedly earn a commission, and the affiliates would also be tempted (obviously) to get a few people to join as well to their own benefit.

I remember reading somewhere on a Romanian forum a post from someone who's fallen into this scam (long time before Igor went missing) and was getting threats from the OneCoin team for not doing their part of the scam and willing to expose them IIRC, and the minimum sum to invest was around 5k EUR. Most people have done it offline because it's way harder to convince someone online to invest 5k EUR into something they've heard about for the first time ever.

That makes a lot of sense. But damn, they grew that big with keeping their operations mostly offline? And with that, they grew big enough but with enough secrecy that they didn't reach trending on various Bitcoin communities. It's both really horrible and really impressing at the same time.

Sa mga curious at sa mga naghahanap ng ibang potential reason, itong tweetstorm ni Brian Armstrong(Coinbase CEO) ang parang consensus sa Twitter kung bakit nag drop ang price:

Full Tweetstorm: https://twitter.com/brian_armstrong/status/1331744884856741888

Though of course, totally possible rin na healthy correction lang to at nagkataon lang na nag correct ung price ng mejo kasabay sa Tweet na to. Up to you how you're going to use this information.
7772  Other / Off-topic / Re: Depending on Google play store safety, is it really safe? on: November 26, 2020, 03:03:38 PM
Hihihi, isn't this lovely?
So a policed environment where apps are more reviewed more strictly and not everyone can submit one free is safer than one where requirements are laxer. Let's for a moment think how safe would be a totally decentralized and free system where everyone would be able to publish its app and there will be no censorship, no removal, no nothing...like some projects were aiming for! I guess the word that would be characterized it best would be pure sh...!

This one is quite a harsh lesson, for some people there needs to be somebody who tells them what's wrong and what's good, someone that denies them the possibility of making a bad move, like baby proof bottles. Total freedom is not for everyone!

The Google Play style of handling apps(freedom and all that) is definitely no doubt the way to go for most of us here that know what we're doing. With that said, I don't see the Apple walled-garden style as a totally bad thing. Apple's platform is just fool-proof enough to be a better recommendation for people who don't know crap about security(and is totally incapable of learning about tech).
7773  Economy / Speculation / Re: I don't think that it will be crazy to see 100k bitcoin price by the end of 2021 on: November 26, 2020, 02:45:35 PM
He didn't even predict any price at all.

The exact quote from him in the short interview was "It wouldn't surprise me to see something even higher than $100,000".

He's pretty much just saying that $100,000 is a possibility, but he's not necessarily "predicting" that bitcoin will reach that price in 2021. There's a significant difference there that you missed.
7774  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: WOMAN WHO CREATED A FAKE BITCOIN STILL ON THE RUN. WILL THE POLICE GET HER? on: November 26, 2020, 02:07:28 PM
OneCoin was a really special case in my opinion. It's weird how this one scam is said to have collected a massive 4 billion USDs, without seeming to even hit the radar of Reddit and Bitcointalk(not 100% sure, but I haven't seen a single post about OneCoin from 2016-2017). Just comes to show how much scams are out there that haven't even brought to light.
7775  Economy / Speculation / Re: 2013, 2017 bubbles and 2020 bull run on: November 26, 2020, 10:45:24 AM
This doesn't mean that they won't sell if the market will be crashing,
Never said they wouldn't. But one thing's for sure, they're far more experienced into investing in general. Things like flash crashes are going to be more calculated and risk adjusted.

if anything, it's the retail investors who are likely to hodl forever, no matter what.
The same retail investors that panic sold at 2017-2018 back down to $3k levels when things were going down?
7776  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin is owned! on: November 26, 2020, 10:42:14 AM
Bitcoin's up more than 2x since the beginning of 2020. And now that we're down just approximately 10% after weeks and months of price rises, suddenly Bitcoin is owned. Some things will really never change..
7777  Other / Meta / Re: The Avatar would have to be optional in signature campaigns? on: November 25, 2020, 08:00:06 PM
The avatar is a personal image of each user,

It should somewhat be the same with your signature space, right? Since you pretty much display both information fields every time you post or create a topic.

The solution here is pretty simple: don't join signature campaigns that requires you to change your avatar if your avatar is THAT important to you. The same way that you wouldn't apply for a job that's located in a city or street that you don't want to work in.
7778  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: I transferred ERC20 tokens (3X Long Ethereum Token) to my Coinbase ETH wallet on: November 25, 2020, 03:56:44 PM
By the way, Coinbase is adding new erc20 tokens frequently, is there a chance they might add ETHBULL so i have control over my 'trapped' tokens?

I doubt it, knowing that I haven't even heard of that erc20 token. Also, regardless if they add that token tomorrow, I don't think it will automatically give you access to your tokens. I don't think Coinbase's platform works in a way that you can send all your ETH and ERC20 tokens in only 1 address, like how you can do using non-custodial wallets like MEW.
7779  Economy / Speculation / Re: We can see another new Bitcoin ATH today? what do you think? on: November 25, 2020, 03:41:32 PM
Taking a look at the huge ass sell wall at the $19,500 to $20,000 range on Binance(BTC/USDT), I really really doubt it. That's going to be a tough wall to break through. I wouldn't be surprised if it would take us weeks, though what do I know? Bitcoin has always been capable of doing crazy things concerning price.

7780  Economy / Speculation / Re: 2013, 2017 bubbles and 2020 bull run on: November 25, 2020, 02:49:57 PM
Do you think that we should prey only on institutional investors to pump the price of Bitcoin?
It's true that big companies aren't affected by FOMO and panic selling, but it's also true that big companies are "under the radar" of the government, therefore a particular action taken by the government(new regulations or something else) could easily force those companies to leave the crypto markets.
Bitcoin(and cryptocurrencies in general) needs the support of the people,in order to grow and survive.

Not sure what you mean with your question. Institutional investors will buy bitcoin whether we like it or not, and it's the same with retail investors. It's not like we can prevent institutional investors from buying just because of governmental risk.
