7781  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Please dont let bitcoinstore fail, your action is needed just about now. on: March 23, 2013, 07:39:55 PM
People who claim to see the long term potential of bitcoin yet seem to totally fail to appreciate the fact that we're bootstrapping the world's first decentralized currency from nothing to global scale....annoy me. It's like you expected the infrastructure, professionalism, network effects, and scale handling to magically come out of nowhere all at once, and now you're disappointed and therefore trollish. As someone who's worked almost exclusively for startups, I appreciate that it's hard. It takes A LOT of work, drive, and passion to execute even when the idea is phenomenal.

Indeed, it's actually quite impressive how much great work is getting done in the bitcoin ecosystem, and the speed at which things are maturing.

+1 There is no comparison between 3/2013 and 8/2012.
7782  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Compensating miners on the wrong side of The Big Fork on: March 23, 2013, 07:37:40 PM
To be clear: the 'donor' was the EFF, and their only request was that the Bitcoins be given back to the bitcoin community. If you like, think of it as a bulk payment of transaction fees that the faucet would have paid if it had been operating over the last year instead of closed (due to lack of time for me to fight the scammers).

Because it sent tiny transaction amounts, it paid almost as much in fees as it gave out...

It seems that Gavin wanted to give out the coins someway, since the faucets are not really working any more in this era of higher transaction fees. Also, don't you also think he has more important things to do other than to dole out money? I am no expert in mining, but I feel it is generally better not to sit on some pools of money that don't belong to you, and there is confusion to whom they should rightfully belong. Therefore I accept this decision.
7783  Economy / Goods / Re: 1OZ SILVER MAPLE LEAF / CHECK BEST PRICE IN OP on: March 23, 2013, 07:16:22 PM
Hello rpietila,

I'm considering getting some silver and gold games going on at taabl.net. We've had a few private coin lotteries but I wanted to try and keep a steady stream of games as part of the site.

Your price is great, of course, but for smaller quantities which, with the uncertainty of bitcoin rates is the only thing I'm brave enough to do, shipping kind of kills it. Is there any cheaper shipping alternative? I don't mind slower and will even go as far as say uninsured (but tracked) is fine for a handful if the shipping price difference justifies it.

You may have shipping for a special BTC0.300 for this time if you follow all the other procedures laid out in the OP. Remember this cost pays for handling also, as I don't make that much profit per coin, they are so cheap!

I think you accidentally linked the wrong page. Your link is about stocks.

*facepalm*

I'm not bothered by any of the selling, at $72 there was 53k coins to $100, at $61 there is only 50k to $100, some people gonna be sad they sold in a weeks time.

Thanks for the insight! +1 Despite the dip, I still need to hurry with my purchases..

I hope people are not sad if they sell. The coins need to move.

I strongly encourage daytrading bitcoin - - after you first have 2 full years of experience with the currency.

Hi folks, did you pick up anything in the fire sale? Grin

<g> no. my trading engine was out of ga$, tried to call brokers to secure "whatever you can buy <55 for immediate wire transfer" but as I was talking it snapped 50->60 in Bitstamp, so I said LOL, wtf and went skiing.

Just came back, yawn. Call me if it goes back <55.

Brokers? Doing ths? ???lol Cheesy

Yes, not one but 2. They're great, I can vouch for Bittiraha.fi (nick: Technomage), they buying some of the btc for me at lowlow commissions.

You see, I have so many entities in my control buying bitcoin, that I cannot possibly open exchange accounts for all of them (kyc stuff for corporations is crazy), let alone spend my 24/7 doing trading. Also Bittiraha offers instant lock-in, no money down. This is a dream when there is a dip. Or would be, if they themselves had any $$ in the exchanges at the moment of feast...

hahhaha . they did panic sell b4. I hope you hold those coins in your hand.

You seem like a tough guy. How about a battle of walls in Bitstamp next Tuesday? We both erect them, then dance a little, finally you sell to me at the going rate, sounds like a plan huh?  Wink

Nope, not at all...

Many investments are rocks. When you let go, they will fall back to ground. Some are balloons. When you let go, it will rise to the atmosphere. It is not easy for many to distinguish between those two. Also the balloons are susceptible to pricks. Trade wisely.

Only thing I wonder is, why did these guys not sell to me yesterday, I had a buy wall in EUR 57.3  Huh
7793  Economy / Speculation / Re: Crash on: March 23, 2013, 07:27:30 AM
A crash to $60 sounds like an end of world to me.
7794  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker on: March 23, 2013, 07:23:10 AM
The recent price action is very bearish. We might be testing $62 or $63 soon. I hope not.
A climb to $75 and then a pretty typical correction is 'very bearish?'

Some people seem to think that after the market has run a marathon it can't take a breather before starting off again.
Must be the same people who moonlight at Foxconn managing the assembly-line workers....

It is a bit strange from the current trend though. For the last few months, when it takes a breather, it goes sideways, not down.

The run was unprecedented, so the bid side is quite thin, as no one would have thought they could buy at those price points, otherwise the down volume is pretty lame.

What I am thinking it will certainly dip to $60 but even $50 seems pretty slim chance, it would require both:
- a seller willing to sell 10-20kBTC at once, for a price less than what he would have gotten when selling to strength
- all incoming funds to the exchanges stalled for 2 days (like they do on weekends  Wink )

The first requirement is met if we are talking about a sacrificial seller, a manipulator, or a panicker. There are not too many of any of those left in 10k+ category. The second one happens every week, and should be corrected by the market. As long as the rise only happens on weekdays, we can safely conclude that bitcoin rises due to fresh buying.

7795  Economy / Speculation / Re: Historical gold price on: March 22, 2013, 10:28:46 PM
In an extreme "Mad Max" SHTF collapse scenario, if things really turn that sour, we're all doomed for anyway, and either death or running for holes in the hills with provisions, weapons and ammo might be the only options left.

That has happened countless times before. The gold is there to be hidden when the crisis hits and uncovered when it abates. Buying weapons with all your stash will likely not increase your chances of survival, but will ensure that you don't have the gold when its value is restored.

Ergo, if you await conflict, buy bitcoins, not ammo. Only MPOE-PR thinks that gold is bought to be spent during the hard times. Yes, that is stupid, but maybe she does not have enough experience on gold to utter much sensical concerning it.
7796  Economy / Speculation / Re: When will my f*cking Silver be worth something? on: March 22, 2013, 10:11:13 PM
I believe the arrogant dimwits
You're new here, and pretty clueless, but a pattern does emerge: you post in threads completely ignoring what is being said while going on about your own take on things. Thusly decoupled from anything of any interest (ie, what the people who aren't new here have to say) the respective barf fails to interest. It also happens to match the definition of both arrogance and dimwittery.

Pick one that suits your mood best:
- Being new here obviously nullifies my 7y full time experience on PM's, own TV show, first book in Finnish about PM investing, etc, etc, and especially makes me incapable of saying anything of value concerning the topic of this thread.
- Seriously, is he paying you for making sure that he through various proxies will ever remain the sole shareholder of the MP-"exchange" whose "valuation" is $50 million and counting. No wonder I did not find any shares to short in the open market  Grin
- Looking at your latest 20 posts, there were 19 oneliners but you expended 3 lines on me. I'm flattered. Soon you will ask me on a date, but I will need to decline, since I have a wife, and a kid, and I am busy enough buying bitcoins in BitStamp, so that I don't need to sell pr0n to obtain them.
- LOL, I thought you put me on ignore, 'cause I did not hear from you in 12 hours. Maybe you just do sleep at times...
7797  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker on: March 22, 2013, 10:03:10 PM
What I found funny/interesting was earlier today the different exchanges were moving at relatively different speeds from one another but as soon as Gox took a hit they all instantly followed suit.

An entity interested in selling, can easily transfer bitcoins to all exchanges in an hour and sell in concert. Due to the limitations of the banking system, it takes a week to do the same with fiat.
7798  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker on: March 22, 2013, 09:33:41 PM
Who would have thought Monday morning, that by Friday we will have a vicious crash through all support lines to... $65  Grin

Naaaah, I hate to call the bottom right to the 8th decimal point, yet have no fiat in the exchange to capitalize on it  Angry

2013 (and maybe all time) high is finally in place.  It's all down hill from here folks, just sit back and enjoy the ride, er, I mean, show.

Dude, he meant euro, but if you say it, everybody thinks you talking about BTC, lol  Cool
