Memory errors are due to excessive OC. Try lower clocks, it lessens your memory errors.
782  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Best graphic card to mine in 2017 2nd half on: July 20, 2017, 05:24:26 AM
There are only handful of cards which can mine efficiently:  RX 470/480 RX 570/580 GTX 1060 1070 1080. Check your stores and see which cards you can grab for a good price point and start from there. Anyway, GTX 1060 and 1070 are quite good considering their price point and as Radeons are out of stock most of the places, they seem a fair option.
783  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Mining altcoins in India profitably.... on: July 20, 2017, 05:20:35 AM
Don't worry about that, each and every post that is discussed by the people in the US or any other country, and all the parts that they are using is pretty much available everywhere and its a good place to start. Try finding a good motherboard with 6 PCI-e slots, get the budget CPU which supports the socket of your motherboard, 4 gigs RAM, 32 GB USB Stick if you're going to use Linux or else 120 GB SSD for Windows 10. It might feel a bit daunting until you actually try it.

Any recommendations for the Motherboard? Without burning a hole in my pocket...  Wink
I was thinking of a LGA 1150 socket model but most have only 1 or 2 pci-e slots except the ultra expensive. Cry

ASUS Z270-P
MSI Z270 GAMING PRO
MSI Z170 GAMING M5

Literally, any Motherboard with 6 PCIe slots which doesn't depend on lane sharing in PCIe lanes is good to go.

785  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: HELP!!! Question about drivers dll files and nicehash on: July 16, 2017, 04:47:47 AM
Do DDU in Safe mode and give latest relive beta drivers a test, make sure RX 580 is the primary GPU connected to x16 slot, display cable plugged in and check the results.
786  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Low Hahrate of GPU in 2nd PCI e16 slot - Please help on: July 16, 2017, 04:31:36 AM
Hi

i'm using 2 gpu's * R9 280x oc 3gb & RX 570 4gb *
The mobo is a Gigabyte P55a-UD3r (Quite an old board)
OS - Windows 10 pro

No on board graphics, did check and tried the dummy plug, still not working

thanks

Has someone perhaps experienced the same problem before ?

Windows 10 Pro completely updated?
Are you using latest relive drivers?
Did you set the virtual memory to 16000 MBs?
Do you happen to apply all the power tweaks in your system?
787  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Is your local Craigslist / Kijiji flooded with GPUs ? on: July 16, 2017, 03:54:46 AM
Well, no Craiglist here too, but still not enough ads of GPUs in second-hand sale websites. I guess with coming time, we're bound to see a lot of GPU ads and well people with serious outlook in mining will still pick it up at a much lesser price.
788  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Hardware and Algo on: July 13, 2017, 02:32:12 PM
Each and every cryptocurrency is backed up by an algorithm, the algorithm requirements vary. For example, ethhash algorithm depends more on memory clock than core clock while on the other hand, equihash requires both - core and memory.

Moreover, you cannot calculate how many hashes you're going to get, but you can definitely run a benchmark on your hardware to know the hashrate for different algorithms and mine the most profitable. One such example of that kind of software is nicehash.

31-33 MH/s is a bit of a long shot. Only GPUs that are verified to provide this kind of hash rate is RX 580 4GB/8GB (Samsung Memory) GPUs with bios mod and high ASIC quality. So, it's a lucky draw but you can easily manage to get 28-30 MH/s from that card. I would recommend going for SAPPHIRE PULSE RADEON RX 580 4G GDDR5 DUAL. They are economical and they perform really good.

Do you know about the gigawatt project? It looks nice. Check it out in here https://giga-watt.com/
792  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Driver keeps crashing - Crimson 17.6.1 on: July 07, 2017, 07:06:49 PM
Then you probably should use DDU in safe mode, you know that right? Incomplete uninstallation may cause a lot of issues. It doesn't take much time. You should give it a go once and see if it works for you.
793  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Getting into mining on: July 06, 2017, 07:10:27 AM
Heyho,

currently I am thinking about getting into mining aswell. First of all, I dont wanna do this professional.
This results in a budget of around 150$. I dont think that local-mining will get me any profit of that, so I wanted to start online mining.
Now I am wondering about the following: Is is profitable, and how long will it be profitable? ; Which Online-Miner would you recommend? ( I thought about Genesis-Mining) ; Which Coin should I mine?

Thank you for your answers

Each and every answer for you question is already discussed a million times in these forum threads before. Please do some research on your own and find what suits you the best, because if anybody spoon feeds you right now, in future when all the variables of mining change drastically, you'll come again asking the same question.

Just underclock the memory a bit and it should be fine.
795  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Add2psu problems. Cant run the rig with 2 psu. Help pls. on: July 06, 2017, 07:04:19 AM
If your system is up and running, then I don't there is any problem with dual PSU setup.Try to use USB riser for all the cards and give it a go, make sure you have made necessary bios settings to run all four GPUs perfectly. Try it again and you'll get them working anyhow.
796  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Same cards - different hashrates on: July 06, 2017, 06:52:59 AM
Each and every card is different in their terms of making. So, don't expect them to work the same. I've 6x Sapphire RX 580, some do 30, some do 28 and one does 27 with same bios mod and configuration. So that's fine!
797  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Driver keeps crashing - Crimson 17.6.1 on: July 06, 2017, 06:25:13 AM
Give Crimson 17.5.2 a try. It's way stable than anything out there for 6+ AMD rigs. I've had an uptime of more than weeks with this driver and Windows 10 OS. You remember of uninstalling display drivers in safe mode with DDU, right?
798  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: How to figure out total power draw of a GPU? on: July 06, 2017, 06:20:29 AM
Hi,

Can someone tell me how to calculate the total power drawn by a GPU?

I'm logging various GPU metrics with HWiNFO64 and would like to know which values constitute the total wattage drawn by a GPU. In the log file I'm seeing the following (these were captured while the card was mining):

GPU Core Voltage (VDDC) [V] 1.194
GPU Core Current [A] 78.313
GPU Core Power [W]   93.486
GPU Chip Power [W]  129.578
GPU VRM Voltage Out (VOUT/VID) [V] 1.193
GPU VRM Voltage In (VIN/+12V) [V] 12.125
GPU VRM Current In (IIN) [A] 6.438
GPU VRM Current Out (IOUT) [A] 56.5
GPU VRM Power Out (POUT) [W] 67.25
GPU VRM Power In (PIN) [W] 78

Is the total the card drawing the Core Power + Chip Power? What about VRM? Is there a way to validate the wattage drawn vs Power In/Current In?

I think understanding these values would be really helpful in deciding how to approach overclocking/underclocking of a specific card (based on historic data) instead of taking a shot in dark, right?

thanks
jaja

You can start by investing in a kill-a-watt first, after that just plug your system through it and check the power consumption in system idle, after that run it in full load and record the power consumption. Now, you can get the approx value for power consumption of one GPU by total power in full load minus total power in idle state dividing whole by the number of GPUs you have.

Secondly, the values that you specify don't have any relation on how well they will be undervolt/overclocked. The parameter that comes in play for deciding this is ASIC quality of your GPU.
799  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Windows 10 version to GTX 1070 rig on: July 06, 2017, 04:55:39 AM
Windows has inferior stability to LINUX - and recent Windows versions haven't even been close.
For reference, I have a lot of machines that have run the Distributed.Net RC5-72 client (which is doing crypto work and loads down a GPU just as hard as any cryptocoin mining, they're doing VERY VERY similar work) and had ZERO failures in many years of operation - some having gone for 18+ YEARS with the only downtime being (1) hardware failure, usually on the hard drive (2) power outage (3) shut them down to move them - and NONE of them have ever had a software-related crash in all of those years on dozens of systems.

Uptime measured in years is COMMON for LINUX systems.
I've NEVER seen any Windows system manage 1 years uptime (one exception, a NT 3.51 SP5 server that was strictly doing file serving), and 1 MONTH uptime on anything since NT 4 SP6 is uncommon even in such narrow usage.

This is not speaking just about my own systems - I worked IT for a couple of large corporations for quite a few years, including being the #2 tech on the FAFSA on the Web site for a year and change.

Windows DOES have better tools for managing overclocking/undervolting and such, and it does handle "mixed" rigs a ton better, but those are the only advantages a Windows system has to a miner.

The UI - is definitely subjective, I have known a couple folks that liked that Win8 abomination.
In my case, the one time I tried to use it (pre-installed on a system I bought as a system), I spent 6 HOURS just trying to get one simple thing done and COULD NOT FIGURE OUT HOW.
I wanted to figure out if a piece of "pre-installed mining software" was on the machine so I could configure it and start it up - and couldn't even figure out *IF* the software had been installed, much less how to get to it to do anything with it.
Yanno, BASIC stuff - and Win8 UI would not LET ME DO IT.

It took me about ONE hour to do a "from scratch" Ubuntu / XFCE install, get the mining software installed, configured, up and running.
THAT is why I absolutely despise what I classify as the "TOTALLY UNUSABLE EXCUSE FOR A UI" that Windows 8 has and refuse to have anything to do with that abomination ever again.
By far the most USER-UNFRIENDLY excuse for a so-called UI I've ever suffered through.

I don't see how you can be seeing stability like you claim in 10 - I've yet to see ANY Win 10 system go more than a week without needing a reboot or having a crash, no matter how little I was doing on it. I eventually just said "just say no" on anything but one gaming system due to the constant crashes and joke performance issues (recent drivers are reported to have fixed the performance issues, and might have been part or most of the cause of the crashyness, I'll concede).

However, I have yet to see ANYONE claim Win10 is capable of higher performance for mining than Win7.

If I'm going to use a "server" OS, I will use LINUX - better performance, MUCH better stability, than anything Windows has ever been. I don't see the point of playing Micro$loth's massively INFLATED pricing for their "server" OS versions.

The "file window" issue is one that has been ticking a lot of folks off for YEARS, yet Mickey$loth has blown it off for years. Thus the emphasis - and I know a FEW folks and have talked to friends in IT departments in a couple of largish companies that have stated that it is one reason they refuse to move away from XP on at least SOME of their production systems - and in a couple of those cases it was the "straw that broke the camel's back" on a decision to abandon Windows entirely and move to a LINUX solution.

If you like Win 10, that's your call - just don't expect EVERYONE to believe you when you make claims that go against the experience of a lot of folks about "how stable" it is.

You've got some really good points there, but regarding the uptime of Windows 10 rigs for mining, they have got some really good stability. In my personal experience, I was able to get more than a week uptime without any errors and it would have continued to work on if I didn't have to make some necessary hardware changes which lead me to shut down the system.

From the looks of it, it seems pretty legitimate and I think you should give it a try and let us know your experience with that. There has to be a good amount of fee for this services, so in the long term it may catch up with 3K mining rig.
