781  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN]ASICMiner Publicly Looking for Potential Customers/Partners for New Chips on: April 23, 2014, 09:01:18 PM
For all you AM fans, this might be slightly disturbing:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=387533.msg6358781#msg6358781

Seems AM are going to build some 8 million chips by June. That's a lot of wafers, and a lot of capacity. It will take them a good few months to deploy it, but when they do it's going to drastically affect earnings, I'd estimate by September that the network rate will be 200PH. At that level, a TH of power might earn you $195 a month after you've paid for your power, and they'll want to add the same again, no doubt.

I just don't understand your enthusiasm for your soon-to-be biggest competitor? (albeit indirectly)
AM's goal is to reclaim the lead in chips and keep it.  To avoid the centralization debate, the emphasis is on selling chips to anyone who wants to create their own miners.
in the long run, we should see something like the Intel/AMD (maybe few others will join Bitcoin ASIC chip producers club) as they relate to PC/server manufacturing today.  i.e. AM makes the chips, but other companies build miners to satisfy different market segments.

also, very soon, there's no reason why Samsung TVs, DVD players etc... shouldn't have a swap-able card that runs Bitcoin mining chip/s.  that device may be "free" to you if you provide electricity/internet and Samsung keeps mined btc?  (substitute Samsung for any other maker of some appliance).

it's possible that the entertainment industry can use Bitcoin to "solve" the piracy "issue" when they finally see the light and get some forward thinking, technology understanding board members at Hollywood & Co.

and 3d printing can benefit by using Bitcoin to deliver one time use/print designs for an item you print at home or local Kinko's (former or new 3D-Kinkos).  no need to go to store to buy a cup for ex.  (also, no need for another country to manufacture it and ship it in a container overseas).  Your payment for a printed item, can be made to multiple parties in the new supply chain: the designer of the item and the raw material manufacturer.  the 3d printer could have a chip to help process printing requests and handle instant payments to all involved (no need to have NET 30 terms when I buy a cup, everyone gets paid instantly).  this is a high level, simple example using a cup, let your imagination run wild.

devices/systems that utilize Bitcoin (yes, upper B) network may need/want chips for uses besides just mining for bitcoins.  AM is positioning to take the lead and keep it.

This is an interesting concept, Canary.  I can imagine this might spur a startup or two--is anyone talking about something like this I could read more about?
782  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [In Stock - Free Shipping] AntMiner U2 USB STICKS - US/Canada .037-.035 unit on: April 17, 2014, 10:38:48 PM
May not be the best place for this post but it is related.
I buy these to resell on ebay and was wondering does anyone know what the price of these miners on ebay has dropped like a rock. Any ideas as to why?

It's all a mechanism of supply and demand, to be sure.  Right now, the supply of these units is fairly high, higher than it's been before on eBay--couple that with a built-in depreciation (due to difficulty increases) and you have people lowering the price of the devices to make sure they move their units.  At last count, I see hundreds of units for sale, and only the lowest prices moving.

That's the free market for you!
783  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Antminer S1 Sales open] Price changes daily, now 0.893 BTC for 180GH/s on: April 10, 2014, 08:04:07 PM
Anyone else order a few days ago but not get any shipping info??

It's 100% normal to receive the actual unit before BITMAIN updates the website.  Don't sweat it.
784  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Antminer S1 Sales open] Price changes daily, now 0.893 BTC for 180GH/s on: April 03, 2014, 05:18:38 PM
I'm running 17% HW at stock Sad

It might be worth pointing out that the HW errors that the ANT reports on the status page are Diff1, so you have to do more math than normal.  Check out this calculator: http://www.coincadence.com/antminer-s1-hardware-error/

Cheers.

That yields a Hardware Error Rate of 0.14873012822 %

I wouldn't sweat it, then!

hmm that sucks.
it shouldnt matter really.
we exchange our coins to fiat, send it to him, and he exchanges it back to btc again Wink

i hope he gets it sorted. he had a nice buisiness going for himself.

question is, what will fiat prices be like.....

hope it isn`t to much more then btc pricing

I agree I just got two S1's  in yesterday. But I also trade BTC in addition to mining.  With the price as low as it is for S1's and some reports of exchanges saying china banks are cutting off accounts related to BTC, how else could he exchange it?  Ie if I get more than 50k in orders a day I am at risk of currency swings since cant exchange at the price as soon as I get it.  I don't know if this affects Bitmain currently but if it does I would hedge and look to a solution that helps him and us as customers out.  Ultimately I hope the PBOC rumors aren't true or as harsh but appriciate a stance that doesn't leave me or my hardware supplier holding a smelly bag of sh....

IIRC Bitmain was looking for a private party to exchange their BTC.  It was a separate thread a month or so ago, so if that went through that may help mitigate the threat of Chinese banks freaking out.  Assuming, of course, that the private party doesn't run into the same issue....
787  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Antminer S1 Sales open] Price changes daily, now 0.893 BTC for 180GH/s on: April 01, 2014, 03:24:05 PM
I was wondering if there is a software out there that would allow me to check 6 Antminer's Status' simultaneously instead of loging in to individual ip address, perhaps I could enter all ip address' and passwords and then the software would show all 6 antminer's statuses?

any help would be appreciated.

I've been thinking about trying CGWatcher,

This might help, as well:

funny that you talking trash about trust and respect.
do you know what this actually means?
obviously not.
someone like you should be banned from using them two words.  false feedback just to look better, bulshit how nice you are but earning trust on someone shoulders.

I will closely watch you to make sure newbie or people without knowledge not gonna fall in to your crap. being said already no one needs middle man. and coupons anyone can get from bitmain directly. so I suggest you that story about how nice you are save it for someone else not here.

Okay guys, take it outside.  All of you. ;-)

Cheers.

Anyone knows how to connect the web interface of the ants to a domain ie: ant.mydomain.com

Uh yeah same way you would with any other device. You need access to the domain server records and just create an A record with the IP of the device.

Ok so if they are all on the same network router, would i have to set a different port for each?

Whatever you are planning, don't even think about opening ports up through your router to the miners on your network. Not only will your miners be compromised, your entire internal network will as well.

Minimum you want to do is use a VPN into your network and manage your miners that way.

Also, see port knocking: http://www.cipherdyne.org/fwknop/
792  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: AntMiner S2 1TH/s Miner (1w/GH/s) on: March 21, 2014, 02:26:01 PM
In the past few days, the blockchain.info API stopped working and we cannot confirm all the transaction until yesterday. We had to manually confirm some of the orders, but the man hands' speed could not be compared with computer, so lots of order were delayed in shipping. We feel sorry for what happened, and we are deploying the second payment API, and our private payment service is planning.

We will adjust the price of the S1, and starts to sell Batch 3 of S2. All the orders which is influenced by above accident will get coupons.

This is why I buy all my gear from BITMAIN.  Proper communication and exceptional customer service.  Bravo.

794  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Antminer S1 Sales open] Price changes daily, now 0.988 BTC for 180GH/s on: March 21, 2014, 01:22:39 AM
Yeah, I really want to order some more, but they gotta fix this issue ASAP. Has anyone had success today when trying to order?

My expired transaction just got fixed in the last hour, so it's safe to assume they are still working through transactions.

Neat!  Thanks for the link.

I can say that I have not gotten any shipping info thru to my UPS account, and nothing has showed up to hosting... I will get DZ to check in on this.

Thank you, sir.
797  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Antminer S1 Sales open] Price changes daily, now 0.999 BTC for 180GH/s on: March 10, 2014, 08:53:54 PM
Is someone looking to sell his coupons?

I have some coupons to sell if interested.

You have to select a coupon from a drop down at checkout, unless I'm mistaken.  I'm not seeing a way to transfer these, and it looks like it will only accept one-per purchase, so they aren't cumulative.

Can anyone verify this?
798  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Antminer S1 Sales open] Price changes daily, now 0.999 BTC for 180GH/s on: March 10, 2014, 08:36:02 PM
Is someone looking to sell his coupons?

I've got a couple, if they are transferrable.  Has anyone successfully done that before?
799  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Antminer S1 Sales open] Price changes daily, now 1.135 BTC for 180GH/s on: March 06, 2014, 04:09:40 PM
GEEZ...bought yesterday at 1.16 btc...this morning it's selling for 1.135 btc...

Does it get lowered every day?

So, I'm just shit out of luck for the difference?

I guess I shouldn't complain...i'm sure everyone is buying higher than the next day or week...

That's what the title of the thread says.

oh....

a  w  k  w  a  r  d  ...

I lol'd.
800  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain Antminer U2 on: March 05, 2014, 03:53:15 PM
Check the area around U5 - that's where most of the changes are.

(warped a U1 pic to make them overlap)

Well done, Steve!  There is, in fact, a difference.  I'm interested to get my hands on few.
