How are you going to double-check the sending address, if your software is compromised? Usually, I see the sending address on my monitor. If anything on my screen can be compromised, I'll verify the same incorrect address is indeed also showing on my hardware wallet.
It depends what the source of the sending address is. If you are sending coins to yourself on a compromised machine, then the software you are using can also show you a wrong address. But if I send you an address via this forum or email, then your malware isn't going to replace the original source (my PM/email). A clipboard malware would replace the pasted address, but the source remains unaffected.
782  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Reason for acquiring bitcoins. on: February 10, 2024, 06:01:59 PM
People have different reasons why they use Bitcoin.

Speculation and hoping it will appreciate in value compared to when you acquired it is the most common reason. But it's not the only one.
At least a billion people on this earth are bank less. Bitcoin allows them a chance to participate in a financial system and try to be competitive.
Also, when you use Bitcoin, you don't answer to anyone. You send and receive how much you want and when you want it. There are no bank holidays or business hours, and sending $1 is no different from sending $1 million.
Another point worth mentioning is sanctions. If you or your country are on a sanction list, you are cut off from the global financial system. Bitcoin doesn't care about that.
And finally, if you are a whistleblower, a journalist or someone working in a dangerous area with the government and/or military forces on your back, you will probably not be allowed to use your debit card or bank account, as it will be suspended or you will be tracked. And again, Bitcoin is a viable alternative.

Očuvaj iluziju o slobodi, i vrti Tik Tok i takav si im najdraži.
784  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [ SCAM ALERT ] Blackjack.Fun is a cheap Scammer on: February 10, 2024, 05:10:31 PM
Without commenting further on the scam allegation itself, I went to the blackjack.fun website to check if they removed the Curacao logo because it gives the impression that they are operating under their licence but the logo is still there. As there is no link added that takes customers to a verification page that shows a valid licence, what purpose does it serve by blackjack.fun showing the Curacao logo?
Trying to look important, I guess. Most players are familiar with the Curacao brand, probably not so much with Costa Rica licensed online casinos. I am sure it would take less than a minute to get rid of the logo but they don't want to in an attempt not to remove any "importance" from the website. It should be replaced with a working link proving they have a valid Costa Rica license, though.

I did not ask to donate to a Legendary member. I asked to choose a Legendary member and gave 3 examples of members and the chosen one who will accept it should open a free giveaway in games and rounds.
They don't have to do any of that just like you don't have to post a video of you doing jumping jacks before replying to any of my posts if I demanded it from you. Their refusal to do that doesn't make them a scam.

The fact that he did not do this and still let the scam accusation thread run and also locked his thread shows me that he is not a professional casino owner. I know many developers who think they can run a casino, but they couldn't and eventually shut down.
He might be unprofessional and incompetent like you say, but this is a thread where you are accusing him of being a scammer. Incompetence and even stupidity isn't equal to a scam unless, like I said earlier, there is an intentional reason why those bugs are there.
786  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Have you met this kind of investors? on: February 10, 2024, 10:36:20 AM
You don't really need Bitcointalk or any other forum if you are only an investor. This is a discussion forum for those interested in talking about everything Bitcoin. To invest, you need money and a good entry strategy. Perhaps some basic knowledge of trading to recognize good opportunities to enter and exit the market.

I have given up on the idea of introducing new people to Bitcoin or the forum. My closest friends and family know about my interest in Bitcoin, but I haven't succeeded in onboarding them. At this point, I don't care anymore. They are more like, you do all the hard work and when you get rich, you'll just give us some. Roll Eyes Cunts!
787  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: DO NOT plug random cables and sticks into your device. on: February 10, 2024, 09:56:03 AM
I remember writing about the USBHarpoon back in 2019. It's a malicious cable that downloads malware onto your device if connected. This thread of yours reminded me of it.

I have a question. is it risky to connect external hard desk via Usb too? and I have a 2 earbuds that i charge from my laptop by connecting them via USB. are they risky too?
Any piece of unknown external hardware can potentially be a risk, so it's hard to answer with yes or no to such a question. The more popular the brand is, the less likely there is a problem with it. If you bought it from a trusted shop, I wouldn't worry that much, unless it's a completely unknown, cheap, and weird-looking gadget. If you got it from someone in a dark back alley, then I don't know what to tell you. Wink
788  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to Download Bitcoin core with 60GB storage on: February 10, 2024, 09:36:24 AM
When shutting down Bitcoin Core, wait for the progress to finish before restarting the computer and Bitcoin Core.

If the wallet is shut down imporperly, it will cause issue later.
True, but I don't know what is worse in this particular case. Having an issue with a brand new wallet that you can re-sync and fix later on, or allowing the software to start downloading the entire blockchain, run out of disc space, and then have issues with the entire computer.

I don't know if Bitcoin Core does any checks on the available free space on the disc and stops downloading new blocks if it notices there is not enough space anymore.
789  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The US Government wants your Bitcoin Miners!? on: February 10, 2024, 09:27:49 AM
Biden doesn't understand bitcoin, this is too much for his old head, so he's given up and allowed "his people" to do what they want in this matter.
Biden isn't the biggest problem. He has other concerns to worry about. Not going completely senile is one of them. Joking aside, he needs to convince the nation to give him another mandate, and I don't think that's going very well. Regarding Bitcoin, the bigger danger are the people he trusts that whisper in his ear. That's the real danger. He is just the one giving the final go ahead with his signature.
790  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to Download Bitcoin core with 60GB storage on: February 09, 2024, 06:15:54 PM
Be sure to configure the allocation for your pruned node in Bitcoin Core as soon as possible, so that it doesn't start downloading the entire blockchain and eats up your disc space. After you save the settings, I think you need to shut down Bitcoin Core and restart it. Don't allocate too much of your disc space to Bitcoin Core. Remember, your OS needs enough empty space to run properly.

I haven't read this entire thread yet (and probably won't, since I'm not interested in this particular drama), but unless LFC_Bitcoin is a merit source--which might well be the case, as he's one of the top recent merit senders--he can do whatever he wants with his sMerits.
Even if he is a merit source, the only "rule" we publicly know of in relation to merit sources and their source merit distribution is that they aren't allowed to sell merits. They can distribute it any other way as far as I know. Every merit source decides for themselves what they spend their merits on. It should be quality posts, or any other posts you find pleasing for whatever reason.

BPIP must monitor the modlog, but as no moderator has acted on o_e_l_e_o's account, lock does not appear and BPIP has not seen it.
I am still a bit confused. Someone did act and took action against the account as it's currently banned. That ban or account lock was issues by someone, either theymos or someone with similar permissions. And the action is permanent. Well, nothing is exactly permanent because even a permanent ban can be revoked. Is the account now in a status similar to when someone tries to restart the password via email and it causes the Bitcointalk account to become locked?
793  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The US Government wants your Bitcoin Miners!? on: February 09, 2024, 04:32:27 PM
Bitcoin is useless in a world covered in forms and Know Your Customer procedures.  What would be the point then.
If you think about it, that's the way it already is. KYC and AML procedures are already a part of Bitcoin because most of the buying and selling takes place on centralized service providers. It's no different with crypto debit cards that allow convenient exchange of crypto for fiat. The anonymous and private transactions are the minority.

I always thought that mining companies have to register as a business that generates money via Bitcoin mining and they also have to state how much equipment do they buy, how much do they pay into it and how much electricity they consume.
Sure, they are registered businesses but I don't think the bolded information was needed for them to start their operations. Your power distributor needs to know how much electricity you need, not the government. And the government surely didn't need to know who your provider is, but now they want to.
794  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The US Government wants your Bitcoin Miners!? on: February 08, 2024, 05:20:53 PM
Could it be that they are attempting to slowly de anonymize every body on the Network?  First they instill fear into you so you voluntarily go and declare every thing you do with your Bitcoin.  Exchanges have Know Your Customer already.  Now this?  It seems like an attempt to add more data to their data base of Bitcoin users rather than a preparation for some sort of war against Bitcoin.
What you just described could be information that is valuable for a war. It doesn't have to be a war against Bitcoin in a way to try and get rid of it or stop it. It can be a war against people, their freedom of choice and their privacy. The obtained data could tomorrow be abused where they say we need additional sources of electricity, so we are shutting down some of the not so essential pressure on the grid. Guess what BTC miners? We are sad to inform you that decision has fallen on some of you. Tough luck.
795  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: SCAM: Anonymous-casino.com (a-c.bet) refuses to pay $17,000 on: February 08, 2024, 04:56:36 PM
But I'm not sure how a CPFP could be taken as suspicion of attempting to double spend.

Because you're not replacing a transaction/spending the same input/s. Instead, someone who owns an unconfirmed output from the parent transaction spends it in another transaction with a bigger miner fee covering both of them -- child and the parent.
I know, I get that. Perhaps it's just just the information they received from a faulty set-up system they are using that triggered a doublespent error. Or it's intentionally set up that way.

Why do you even play on suspicious casinos like this? And how did you find about them?
They are not available in bitcointalk forum, or any other forum I am using, and I never heard about them before.
They have a thread on Bitcointalk dating back to 2020.
(https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5293254.0) However, the thread hasn't seen any new posts since December 2020, which is also the last time the OP and their forum representative was online.

Yes, I can confirm that o_e_l_e_o's account is banned/locked.
You are a staff member, can you comment on what is the difference between the type of ban on o_e_l_e_o's account and someone that gets banned for any rule infringements, like plagiarism? I mean, why doesn't it show as banned on BPIP's website but only if you have the BPIP extension installed?
797  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you beleive in the concept of "Luck"? on: February 08, 2024, 04:45:36 PM
I don't think luck is a matter of believing in it or not. You can literally be lucky or unlucky several times a day to realize it's there. It can save your life or the lack of it could prove deadly. Have you ever had something crash or fall just a few centimeters from your head or body, where if you had been one step closer or further away, it would have hit you right in the head? That's luck for you.

Everything about gambling is luck, unless you are playing a game that requires certain skills, like poker. But if you are playing slots or table games, those are RNG-based. If luck is on your side, you will find the correct winning combination to land a big win. Take slots, it's all luck and no skills and strategies.
798  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The US Government wants your Bitcoin Miners!? on: February 08, 2024, 04:38:13 PM
Fortunately, the current US government initiative only applies to companies. Individuals won't have to worry about mining at home in the timebeing.
Small miners with only a few ASICs don't provide that much to the total hashrate I would reckon. So you can't get around this requirement and law (as they say) by moving some or all of your gear to private citizens and home mining.

If things get "tough", there's nothing stopping anyone from creating their own mining hardware.
What do you mean with creating new mining hardware? You are not trying to say that miners could make their own ASICs, are you?

I guess, it's going to be a high time now for miners to go to Canada or somewhere that's got a cold climate and take your retirement there and continue mining.
Except, let's not forget the Canadian trucker's protest and what the Canadian government did to them with the help of centralized crypto exchanges.

if you want to, you can also go to Caribbean countries or in my country, it's cheaper to live here and you can probably set up your rig in a place here that's cool all year round, the electricity isn't cheap though.
Access to plenty of cheap energy is one of the most important factors. If mining isn't profitable and electricity prices are too high, no one is going there.

We all know that the US authorities sell all the seized BTC at auctions and that they do not want to have any possession of the same...
Only because they need cash and fiat to finance their interests and government spending.

Then as they push for more regulations we should seek solutions to counter that power abuse...
Once they take away a little bit of your freedom, you are never getting it back. The next step is taking away a bit more.

No matter what their plans are, I'm positive it still wouldn't yield any outcome, because even if they succeed to enact some sort of regulation on miners that would in some way restrict miners or disrupt miners in the United States, they can only exercise such power within their jurisdiction and not outside of it. There are Miners all over the world and not just in the United States, so even if they succeed to stop thr miners in the United States ( which I doubt is even possible) there are still other miners out there who would still continue mining keep Bitcoin going as usual.
The US miners are, at this stage, crucial to the network. An attack on them would be costly for Bitcoin.
799  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The US Government wants your Bitcoin Miners!? on: February 07, 2024, 05:09:31 PM
If the Venezuelan government did this, it's not so far-fetched that all governments would also do the same so they could all control the network thus effectively censoring the transactions. First, they hate Bitcoin but now they wanna take over Bitcoin.
I don't think the US will go that far. Let's keep the illusion of freedom alive, shall we?! There are other ways to get what you want without taking over the business directly. You begin with pressure and threats. You tell them they will face downtime, sanctions, heavy regulation, and scrutiny. And then you change it up and say, we can either do it the hard way or the easy way. The easier way is that we forget about everything we just threatened you with, but you start running your business the way we want you to. You know, for the sake of national security?! That means, censoring what we don't like and promoting and pushing the agendas we tell you to.

o_e_l_e_o was last active on 22 January. In his farewell thread, he mentioned that the account would soon be banned after he is done with his final goodbyes. BPIP doesn't show such accounts (locked) as banned. That's also the case with Lauda and satoshi. I just checked the modlog and there is no information there either. Anyone knows if the account has been locked/banned already?
