The last and the final ODI is going to be played tomorrow at Manchester between England and India. I thought Indians were favorites but seeing the odds at stake, it seems that bookmakers think that England are favorites for tomorrow match.
I think we can bet on India tomorrow as 2.02 is a very good odds. I am not sure that India will win or not, but you have to take risk on betting and its worth taking risk with odds like this.

Agreed. Those are great odds and I have no idea why Stake thinks that England are the favorites in tomorrow's match. Already placed a bet there and I hope it won't be another one-sided match this time around.
So you placed the bet on England or India?
My sixth sense thinks that India might win tomorrow.  Wink

I think England will win the series. Although India won the first ODI match easily, England made a brilliant comeback in the second match. And managed to defeat India by almost 100 runs. As England did not win the T20 series. So a loss in the ODI series will also be a shame for them. So I think England players will try their best to win the series. And a similar performance in the second ODI will see England win the match. And I wnat to place my bet on England's victory.
If we talk on the technicals this match is going to be entirely different from the previous two as this is more of a batting venue. You generally see high scoring games here. And as per a pitch report it can offer some help to spin as well because it's an old pitch used a lot this year. Which means batsmen will get a chance to open up their hands in this match. I see this as an advantage to England but India has good spin unit so it'll be a very interesting fight to see as well.
782  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: FUD Has Finally Taken Its Toll on Me on: July 16, 2022, 06:43:16 PM
Three weeks ago, I liquidated 10k from my stock portfolio into my bank account. My plan was to dump it into Bitcoin as soon as it dipped under 17k. But now, for the first time since I got into crypto investing in 2017, I'm having major doubts.

I'm beginning to wonder whether Bitcoin has a long-term future, now that much of the world's nations are caught up in this 'climate' hysteria, and want to ban proof-of-work protocols, like Bitcoin, which they claim is harmful to the environment.

For example, the EU recently held a vote to ban proof-of-work mining across member nations*. Thankfully, the vote failed, but this wasn't the first time they attempted it, and I don't think it'll be the last. Eventually, as younger and more 'progressive' individuals enter positions of political power in Europe, my guess is that they'll succeed. And, once they do, the other chimpanzees in countries around the world will follow them, potentially causing the demise of our beloved cryptocurrency.

Thoughts?

One thing you should keep in mind is even if bitcoin isn't successful Cryptocurrencies as a whole are here to stay for sure. So the only way out of the problem you are in is to diversify into different Cryptocurrencies, if you are doubtful about pow, keep some money into POS. Just make sure even if one of them hits the moon it'll cover your losses in rest all of them. Practice the exactly same thing which you were doing for your stock portfolios.
783  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Understanding Tax Implications on: July 16, 2022, 06:39:01 PM
Hi,

I am very new to bitcoin investing and am trying to understand the tax implications.  My understanding is that to the extent that I just buy and sell on exchanges, gains / losses are treated like any other capital gains / losses.  If I buy $1000 of bitcoin in January and sell it for $2000 in March, I have a $1000 of short term capital gains.  That much seems easy enough.

But what if I actually use it as currency to buy something.  It seems like in theory I would have to manually look up the price that day calculate the gain losses every time I buy something.  That's obviously not practical for anything but the very occasional large purchase.  If people are ever really going to use bitcoin as a currency, how is this going to work?  What am I missing?

Thanks!
Generally for other assets it goes like this only. You see the fair market value of the asset the day you are relinquishing it in exchange of something else and this fair market value becomes your sell price or purchase cost and accordingly you calculate your taxes on this value itself. But this is in practice because it is clearly written in law, about Bitcoins it isn't written in law so far therefore one cannot just assume that we have to follow this methodology but based on similar scenario this is only the best way we currently have to calculate this.
784  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Many people become binance futures full time traders as job on: July 16, 2022, 06:35:21 PM
Now many people becomes binance full tome time fututrs trader as full time.
Its a good full time job reasons:
All ur earnings on binance debit card instant.
U dont need to go anywhere u cam even do job with smart phone.
I think kids should also learn that in school instead of useless things but good job how to make decent incone without going anywhere or over work.

Also binance is center of crypto without binance i have no idea how to deal with crypto they can close down all other exchangers but if binance stays then crypto stays.
Binance has most logical futures trading facolity for tge futures long short workers.

Maby people now choose to become binance futures trader as full time income.
Do not make the mistake of comparing full time trading with a job or even a business. It's entirely different, very risky and also has a very less probability of success. It's ok to give kids a training about this skill as well and making them well versed with concepts of financial markets, this will obviously help them in deciding their future careers. But one should never think of full time trading as a career option unless he is too passionate about it. I have seen many people coming in trading for money and leaving the markets with not only the money which they already had but with mental peace as well.

England vs India 2nd ODI
Congratulations to the England team.Winning today's match is huge for them. India gave a very poor performance in the second ODI match. And in that opportunity, England gave a better win today. England scored 246 runs for 10 wickets in 49 overs to win. And India scored 146 off 38.5 balls. England won by 100 runs.
I didn't think that England will play so much. I thought that England won't win this match.  But what I was thinking was a complete mistake.  I could not have imagined England would play so well.  Anyway, my best wishes to England.

What a turnaround by England in this match. They beat India by 100 runs while in the last match they lost the match by 10 wickets.  This leaves us to the final match which is to be played between these two countries at 17 July in Manchester.
This was one of the worst collapse by the Indian batting team. How strange that Virat Kohli made 16 runs and he was the top scorer in top 4 Indian batsmen.
Yes, Virat Kohli of India is playing a very bad game. Now I think his game is much worse than before. I don't think Virat Kohli will play such a bad game.  If Virat Kohli plays such a game, he will be in a very bad situation.

The credit for the England victory goes to Reece Topley who took 6 wickets and gave only 24 runs in 9.5 overs. The rest of the bowlers also chipped in and collectively it was a good effort by them. I am also looking forward to the final match to be played on Sunday.

Which team do you think is the favorite to win this last match. I think it's difficult to decide before the match, the one who played better on the day will be the winner.
England were really splendid in this match. They really took all the revenge of the T20 series from India. Our batting was obviously no where near the class we were having in T20 may be it was just because of the pitches that we were doing so good in the T20 series same couldn't be done im this match as pitch favoured the bowlers.
786  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin is like a venereal disease-- Charlie Munger on: July 15, 2022, 09:23:25 PM
Amongst the crowd of Bitcoin nay-sayers, Berkshire Hathaway's vice chairman, Charlie Munger has come out and vocalised his strong dislike of the digital currency.
In an interview with The Australian Financial review, the executive belted out insults on the coin and also believes crypto engagement is a mass folly. Previously likening BTC to a rat poison, he further advised that investors run from it like they will do from an "open sewer full of malicious organisms" as he feels the best investment to make are from stocks generating real cash. I see this as a mere sentiment and he may have a change of heart.
It's sad that there are still individuals who are content to been victimized by govt policies on finance than embracing digital freedom in the form of Bitcoin. Although, inspire of his negative impressions of BTC, it has proven to be a hedge against inflation and an alternative payment source that operates without government interference. https://news.bitcoin.com/charlie-munger-everybody-should-avoid-crypto-as-if-it-were-an-open-sewer-full-of-malicious-organisms/
Ok so what is stock markets then? It is also the very same thing people are just running behind stocks without even looking at the actual businesses just following what the news is and what the buzz in the market is. It's actually pretty hypocritic of people to say all this despite being in the crypto markets themselves.
787  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Would Bitcoin recover even if it fell to one dollar? on: July 15, 2022, 11:45:09 AM
How low would Bitcoin have to fall before it was no longer recoverable?

Price, in my opinion, would not dictate this. It would have to be something that would destroy the foundation and system on which it is built.

what you say?
It has to fall the ladder of people's trust to be irrecoverable. This would happen not with any price fall but when the very basic concept or technology of bitcoin can be challenged by anyone or when it is no longer secure enough to make any transactions, this is when people will perceive bitcoin as irrecoverable and that day even if it's price is 1000$ I'll still sell all my holdings and will consider this as dead end for bitcoin other than that I am hodling even if it goes a 100$.

By we, does he mention each and everyone of us or the group he was working on with to make Bitcoin?
I see he have mentioned "we" 20 times in the whitepaper. Just putting a screenshot of conclusion, page 8 of Bitcoin Whitepaper.

 Roll Eyes
We can have any meaning. We can refer to the community that he was expecting to get attached with Cryptocurrencies or we could be nothing but a sort of self but an adjective being used for self majesty. It's hard too guess the meaning of this we. Definitely one possibility could be that it's referring to set of people involved in the project. But to be honest I am in the set of group which think that it was definitely more than one person because this isn't really a task for one single person.
789  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ODI cricket and general cricketing discussion [self - mod] on: July 14, 2022, 06:29:46 PM
Lower middle order rescued England from complete humiliation (esp. Moeen Ali and David Willey). England batsmen found ordinary spin from Yuzvendra Chahal unplayable, in a track that offered hardly any support for the spinners. But to their credit, the English bowlers destroyed the Indian top order within the initial 12 overs. The bad run continues for Virat Kohli and Rishabh Pant. Now Suryakumar Yadav and Hardik Pandya are trying to build a partnership for the 5th wicket. Both the players are in very good form anyway.
Same thing isn't really happening with India, after seeing the target I thought it won't really be a very tedious task for India to chase the target but they way wickets have fallen, India is almost on their way to lose with No one really good left in the lower order as well, on one side the tail is completely exposed with Shami on the crease while on the other side Jadeja is really struggling to score runs. i think this match is gone from hands of Indian team.
790  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: My class had their first practical Bitcoin exercise on: July 14, 2022, 06:26:55 PM
This is so good. I think such basic skills should be taught in each and every classroom, even if you decide not to use Bitcoin in future you should still know how to use a wallet. And the best thing was you were taught how to use a private key wallet and find the best wallet and not an exchange where you are not even the owner of your own keys. Such skills along with banking skills as well should be taught in every school for sure.
791  Economy / Economics / Re: The fear of Bitcoin monopoly in El Salvador on: July 14, 2022, 06:23:12 PM
In September, 2021, El Salvador became the first country to adopt Bitcoin as a legal tender; that, we are all aware of. Then President Nayib Bukele went further to spend a total of $106.3m, according to Bloomberg analysis, since it's adoption in 2021. This move was unwelcomed by citizens as they grumbled over the supposed waste of public funds but it sseemed like Nayib was looking at the futuristic benefits attached to this coins. Take a scenario where BTC skyrockets from it's present price of $19.608.8 to a high of $60k or $100k, they could become richer than China and the US combined if they decide to invest in their country like China did.
With it's adoption, the government introduced the use of chivo wallets because of its efficiency and lack of credit consumption.

Granted, Chivo is a public ledger, hence the citizens can be aware of transactions and all that. But where I need your opinions is on this: can it be made public enough to scare off monopolists?
Are you really serious? El Salvador could become richer than China or US if bitcoin hits 100k? I don't really think so. In total currently it just has 700 Bitcoins which in USD translates to just 14 Million USD which is no where near to even the 50th richest man of US forget about the whole nation. So trust me no country so far is scared of the monopoly they could make because they really won't be able to make one very soon and moment there is an opportunity to make one, US and China would immediately jump into it.
792  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Mexican senator proposes bill to make Bitcoin legal tender on: July 14, 2022, 06:19:26 PM
Mexican senator Indira Kempis proposed a bill to accept Bitcoin (BTC) as legal tender in Mexico. The proposal document focuses on the fact, that over 67 million individuals in Mexico still do not have access to a bank account, which means that 56% of the country’s population still does not have this most fundamental of the financial system. Bitcoin would indeed provide a good opportunity for this high un-banked population to gain access to cheap, fast and reliable financial transaction. This is good news for Bitcoin because in the face of the bearish market, it is still acknowledged as a potent solution or option to financial challenges of nations. Although this bill would face a lot of hurdles to go through the legislative and executive processes, but if it is finally passed into law, it would be a big win for Bitcoin because Mexico would be a bigger catch.

I am not against making bitcoin a legal tender but I have a very basic question if the government is not able to bring financial inclusivity using bank accounts how are they expecting to bring it through bitcoin? Eventually you'll have to buy bitcoin from your bank account only so who are not in the system will still face the challenge of opening up a bank account. And let's think what you are saying is correct, despite that is bitcoin really a cheap way to do transactions? Banks atleast on intra country level offer free services how are you expecting people to prefer bitcoin for it's affordability.
793  Local / India / Re: TDS on Cryptocurrencies [Explained] on: July 10, 2022, 07:24:38 PM
The worst part about TDS applicability put in by the government is that even if you are an individual who is not involved in any kind of business and profession and is just doing cryptos for investment or even fun has to deduct TDS while buying/ selling the coin and deposit it with the government. In case of exchanges it was easier as the burden to comply with all the statutory norms was on the shoulders of the government but in the case of individuals, it will be on people which will obviously reduce their enthusiasm to do crypto trading. I feel this law can be crypto killer in India.

If you do the research you will find that the government of India are bringing these laws towards crypto so that they can discourage crypto trading/investments in India.
First they bought the 30% taxation law and then they bought the 1% TDS and rumors are there that they are about to bring 28% additional tax as GST on crypto.
So all of these are steps that the government of India is taking to eliminate crypto from India.
Yes I understand it's too demoralise the people involved in crypto trading and trying to stop them some way or the other. GST won't come in don't worry. Atleast not on the trades being made through exchanges, it makes zero sense to bring GST on whole selling proceeds, even if this law comes in it would definitely be challenged in the court of law for sure and will make more of mockery of the government, the GST could be charged on commission or brokerage but not on the total value of sales because then government will have to allow input credit on value of purchase as well which will only increase their own headache.
794  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: According to Sam Bankman-Fried, some Bitcoin exchanges are insolvent on: July 10, 2022, 07:17:44 PM
I saw a few days back there was a controversy around Kucoin for the very same thing, but the CEO clarified the FUD on Twitter pretty clearly. No matter how weird this news might sound but there are good chances of this being true. Because exchanges around the world have certain money into their cold storage apart from that their hot wallets details aren't really public, even if you find it there is no public data that how much in total are people holding on that exchange. Obviously, not everyone would come together to withdraw their money and Exchanges might be taking advantage of it by just keeping some money on the exchange and lending the rest for exorbitant interests. I am not sure if these are insolvent or not but surely they are using our money for their leverage.
795  Economy / Economics / Re: Sri Lanka Economic Crisis is Getting Worse on: July 10, 2022, 06:26:47 PM
Sri Lankan crisis in nothing but a depiction that how a bad leader can push the entire country into a dark phase. Sri Lanka is a very developed country in terms of the literacy and health, however in terms of economy it is now ruined. The only way for it to come back on track is, first of all have elections and set up an organized government structure and then setup an economic policy to take foreign assistance, it's impossible for them to sustain alone at this point in time, they will need help of either China or India
796  Economy / Economics / Re: Unemplyment at least 50% how world will look like then ? on: July 10, 2022, 06:23:25 PM
Unemployment at least 50% in usa at least so how THE wprld world will look like ?
Definately all prices will 80-90%down

Are you serious? 50% is a very big number and I am sure Us will be nowhere near that number last I heard the number was around 20% and that also at leak Covid time since then the number has only recovered. So I am sure 50% is a just s random guess but yes even 20% is pretty high if you consider it for a second. I am sure there is going to be a big recession coming in I'd the number is somewhere around 20% mark.

I also don't believe if a country as big as the USA the unemployment rate can reach 50%, that's an enormous amount and I doubt
the US government will allow that to happen. Actually, it is not only the USA that has experienced an increase in unemployment,
but it seems that all countries in the world are experiencing the same thing. Indeed, the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic has made
the world economy even more devastated. Many even say that the current economic crisis is worse than the previous economic crisis.
So the government really has to find an effective solution to this unemployment problem. If a solution is not found immediately,
it will cause other problems, such as the crime rate will increase if unemployment increases. So the unemployment problem is
a serious problem, and I hope the government can move quickly to solve it.

I don't think it's because the opportunity to make money doesn't exist. But the way of thinking of the majority of people still hasn't changed,
there are still many people who think that a good job is to work in a company as an employee. Even though the ease of internet access should be
able to open up opportunities to make much bigger money, there are lots of ways to make money on the internet. This is the importance of
the government providing education to the public, and I hope the government really educates the public seriously. So that many people realize
the opportunity to make quite a lot of money on the internet, and if many people realize this, it is expected that the number of unemployed
will decrease.
That's not entirely true to be honest. Even though the mentality of the people is a big factor why most of the people remain unemployed. Lack of good paying opportunities is an equal problem. If a good 17 year education followed by an institutionalised degree cannot land you a good paying job then obviously the whole education system should be changed. It's wrong to affix the responsibility of being unemployed on the person himself. Some people think organized education is enough and ideally it should be if you are paying this much for it.
797  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: July 10, 2022, 06:20:24 PM
England Vs India
Congratulations to England for winning this match today. In today's match, Debit Malan scored 77 runs to make it easier for the team to win. After losing twice in a row, today they saw a huge victory.I think the reason they lost twice in a row is because of their lack of leadership. If they could lead well, they would definitely win.

England 215/7 (20)

India 198/9 (20)

England won by 17 runs

I think toss was a crucial factor as well if you see. India scored almost equivalent runs in all the 3 matches it was England's batting which struggled in the first two matches and recovered in the last one to help them win so I think maybe batting first was the key here. But I am still pretty satisfied with India's performance overall. They have played quite decently in all the 3 matches. Who knows if Pandya was in the team he might have scored the required runs in the end. He was in a good form in the first match. Tough to select best 16 in the world cup.
798  Economy / Economics / Re: Fashion Brands uses Blockchain Technology on: July 10, 2022, 03:49:08 PM
The application of blockchain technology has gone widespread across several industries as many of them now make use of the advantage in cryptocurrency to increase the performance of thier businesses and enterprises using the technology in their services, the economy is doubtlesslly not in dark towards the advancement of the crypto adoption and its relevance areas of application.

Among those embracing this great opportunity is the "Fashion Industry", in collaboration with different brands are working closely to overcome areas of challenges in the industry with the application of blockchain technology.

Quote
Luxury giants LVMH, Prada, and Cartier joined forces to launch the Aura Blockchain Consortium, a non-profit platform to create a digital twin for their fashion items. The platform leverages blockchain technology, which has the features of transparency and immutability to ensure that consumers of the brands are buying original copies.
https://beincrypto.com/crypto-can-save-the-fashion-industry-despite/?utm_source=thecryptoapp

It is quite obvious that cryptocurrency is not only applicable to the use of digital currency for an exchange or store of value assets or for an investment but also the technology in blockchain has various applicable means it provides solutions into the economy, one of which they find secure to enlist all their brand products on the immutable distributed ledger while thousands of products and brands have join in this together.
I thought of this idea that how fashion brands can leverage blockhain to ensure the genuineness of their products and also ensure that copies of their product aren't sold in the market. But the problem here is that to create a platform where one can verify genuineness of it's product, blockchain isn't needed, one can create any such platform directly using a web server because decentralisation isn't a very big concern here for the people.
799  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: July 09, 2022, 09:18:25 PM
Jasprit, Bhuvneshwar and Yuzvendra are the best bowlers that India can have in this time of Indian cricket. I also need to mention Hardik Pandya, if he is not contributing with bat he does that with the ball. Series win for India in a T20 match held outside of India. The team under the intelligent captaincy of Rohit Sharma has shown an exceptional performance. Sir Jadeja has suddenly become an all round batter than a bowler with his experience. England did not play bad in both the matches but they were not better than the Indian side.

India actually has a really effective bowling lineup right now. For a T20 tournament, it is going to be a really enjoyable one. But I wonder how Kuldeep Yadav is doing, he was a regular alongside Chahal.
With these two leg spinners, India should do really well in the upcoming T20 World Cup. Leg spin is very significant for T20 because finger spinners generally don't get anything done in the T20 format if they don't have enough variations. And if you talk about tests I am always willing to say England is a better team compared to India especially if the match is being played in England.
India has a really good team anyways both batting and bowling is pretty good but it's always that India is unable to find that right combination which suits the condition and is able to win against the opponent. However in this series they have been marvellous today's match also they won like there is no match to this time I hope this performance continues in the T20 world cup as well. India is going ahead with a great team combination so far.

This clearly indicates that European economy is really struggling,  sanctions to the Russian government have really impacted euro badly. But I think it's USD actually which has got really strong recently almost all the currencies are struggling against the USD on the global level. But Russia stopping it's gas pipeline due to sanctions and stopping of other exports imports had really deteriorated Euro's value.
