TwinWinNerD is probably our new reddit guy after passions leaving, so here is passion's project that should be fullfilled: salsacz, when nexerns client is published for a few days and we filled the subreddit /r/Nxt with many quality links, I want to start a reddit ad campaign. http://de.reddit.com/wiki/selfservehttp://www.reddit.com/ad_inqI will create pictures, other users can create pictures as well. We get 1000 views for 0,75$. We can target specific subreddits like /r/Bitcoin with 100k user or /r/litecoin with 18k user. But we can also target the whole frontpage. For only 75$ or 1000 NXT we could create 100k views. From interested persons or from every person world wide. I think it would be nice if we can get a minimum of 24.000 NXT for this. I would use 250 NXT per week to generate about 20000 views each week. In the beginning only on cryptocurrency subreddits. Later I would rotate it, so the "normal" ppl see the ad also. This campaign I would run for 2 years. What do you guys think? TwinWinNerD has got 5k Nxt for this now, so it should bring 500k views, if passions numbers were correct. To help with this, I would like to ask EVERYONE in this thread to sign up for reddit and post links, short articles, just fun observations etc. there. post links directly from the forums, too. That will help get people to the forums. Answer questions if you feel like it. ENGAGE with people, like we do on the forums and on these threads. Just chucking money at reddit and expecting people to stay won't be enough. Just have fun on there, even if you just post links. We can take it from there. Once there is momentum, it will take on a life of it's own.  |

Yes, we really need speakers. This is in my opinion the BIGGEST issue with nxt at the moment.. Preferably a core developer too! If we need speakers, some more techy people should step forward. We have asked for them more than once, because most of us know we are limited in that, but so far none has come forward. Don't be shy! More experienced speakers are perfectly willing to support you if you are nervous about getting in front of a group. Speaking can be learned and this may be a very good time. Duo speaker formats are also possible. |

I understand you took a fee and the total after fee is displayed. So if you could tell me what my actual investment was I would appreciate it (I don't know exactly how much is your fee, I know not very smart of me but hey I took a risk).

Any thoughts on the value of NXT (in terms of BTC not dollars) in the intermediate future?
And as a bonus question, I personally would be surprised to see an alt, including NXT, to gain more than 1/2 the market cap of Bitcoin at any given time unless the utility of that coin became a real challenger to BTC - which I believe is a long ways off in any case. So .0125BTC seems to be a best case scenario ceiling for NXT for the longer intermediate term.
Actually, I see no reason why Nxt should be valued in BTC other than that BTC is the preferred exhange coin at the moment. There is no reason why Nxt shouldn't be independently valued for fiat. I have seen the calculation of 21,000,000/1,000,000,000 often and find it useless as it presupposes that Bitcoin will always be the exchange coin "in between". That is an unsupported assumption and makes that whole calculation useless. In answer to your other question: no idea what the valuation will be. It all depends of the value that Nxt actually will deliver to people. Looking at developments it seems likely to be in a totally different area than Bitcoin for now. I do not think Nxt will be a "buying" coin. Maybe it will be used as such for a short time, but that will change when the value rises and it will become unwieldy for such. It's much more likely "Nxt" will become valuable as a means to "power" systems that will have such functions. As such, it's value can be immense, but it all depends on the coming months. |

Even though I opposed changing it, I am glad that you made changes in line with the AIM of what you are trying to do, which is fair spreading, while also honoring the people who wanted to wait, keeping the 50% mining block intact and also giving Exo out to the mail applicants. That takes a fair amount of juggling and I think it's great how much thought you put into that. Whatever is decided, I just wanted to tell you that I appreciate you taking both your investors ánd your own aims seriously. That bodes well for the future. |

Am I forging right? I bought a BTC worth of NXT a few days ago, so I have around 11.5k. All I have to do is leave on my NXT client (NRS 0.7.6) and forging will happen by itself? The past few pages have been talking about how to change up forging to be more profitable... but my question is, how do I check on the progress of my forging?

If you leave your client on for 24 hours (1440 minutes) then you are forging. Your client is broadcasting its availability to forge the next block, and there is a lottery system going on once a minute behind the scenes that your 11.5K NXT is participating in to win you the right to forge the next block. Wait long enough, you will win that lottery at some particular minute, and you will forge a block. As for monitoring your "progress" - I am not sure if you can really do that. The two arrows represents "transactions in and out of your account". The globe / peers is just an item of general interest - your client is not communicating with all the computers on the NXT network, only this subset. The puzzle piece is data about the most recently forged blocks. Great thanks for the help! Still more questions! 1) How can I tip you through this forum? 2) Do I have to leave the wallet unlocked for a strict, straight 24 hours? I use a laptop that I bring to work, then bring to home. So I lose internet connection during transit. If I do need to leave the website on 24/7, raspberry pi is best right for minimal cost/best efficiency? To be *able* to forge, the balance in your accounts needs to be confirmed 1440 times. This equates to 24-36 hours. After that, everytime you open your account, you will be forging with that amount that has 1440 confirmations. No need to leave your account open to *get* it confirmed. That happens anyway. |

Every small contribution helps. If u want to actively help NXT: get off yr ass, look around, find somewhere u can help and dive on in. Don't hang back because u might not want to look foolish or make a mistake. No one here is perfect, (except me, of course), just do your best. Surely, no one sitting on the sidelines can resist such an invitation. One humble question: does translating around 500 wiki entries count as an involvement? My remark about "anything useful" meant that I'm really interesting in constructing a reasonable math model to estimate probabilities of a successful attack on the network, but didn't yet advance too much on this. ooopsss.......maybe I should have been a little less blunt. I will be coming out with "coins" that are actually NXT AE assets that can be mined by CPU. Every miner will need to be running a NXT node. If there is any level of market for such a coin the miners will start mining by the droves. Since the market for it is AE, we can always jump start the market by subsidizing the prices during the early days in order to ensure enough network capacity
This is another great service on top of NXT (besides the NXTopia) that stimulates the AE. +1 I like this very much. it allows us to keep the "miners" on board and still helps secure the network without changing the core mechanics. Elegant! Would mining be needed for coins created on the exchange? I thought you could just "create" assets. It's just this particular coin that can be mined. It's not inherent in the system. |

little hobbyists will be interested if forging every 2 to 3 days and profit must greater than cost of maintaining the node and remain immobilized the funds (oportunity cost)
I think forging should be more interactive. For example: Someone started a node with 10000 NXT, waited for 1 week, still 10000 NXT -> Boring. plus no idea, if it actually worked or not, maybe even a false run. Other example: Someone started node with 10000, in 6 hours he get 10000.0001 Pool functionality but with no risk. There are lots of people who can run a node at work with no cost (for them ). We should show them they can earn some doing nothing. Speaking psychologically, not technically, this is completely correct. |

there are cca 20.000 nxt for each conf, as I said, it is possible to handout 100-200 brochures, but not 2000 without paying for booth/ladies etc. Why do you need door pass when we are paying for "2 full-conference passes for staff members" in supporter sponsorship to get you a speaker position? Sooooo, recap of this afternoon: I spent over four hours telling explaining Nxt and telling stories about the community to the designers/marketing guys and they love it! It was a very productive meeting and I will dump all marketing material to them today and tomorrow, so they can sort through it. They loved the logo, by the way. We will have some rough drafts for you guys to comment on middle of the week, to get the ball rolling. They immediately caught on to the fact it's an ecosystem and not a coin and how to focus on that. So, three new community members, who i hope to introduce together with their work soon. |

not that. My friend said that here is possible to get 1000 - 100 000 nxtcoins and some had already got. What did they do? they contributed to this wonderful community. If you do the same, the NXT will just come flying to you! Did you? What they exactly did? One good example to teach one Joe Average - Translating the wiki - Setting up a site and maintaining it - Making images for promo - Helping out with texts - participating in swarms All these can be done by most people who have some time and will earn you nxt. Plenty of opportunities around. |
