781  Economy / Speculation / Re: Hong Kong regulators might allow spot ETF on: November 06, 2023, 05:25:57 AM
There are many spot etfs in many countries already this is nothing new. I think somewhere in Europe there was a bitcoin etf from maybe 5 years back.

USA and the sec is the only country pretty much that refuses to launch one and we don’t know why. Look at how many stocks go bankrupt like Bed bath and beyond and they head to $0 while they think that bitcoin network might stall and the etf will go to $0, highly unlikely.
782  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Using TV( GOTV, DSTV) monthly subscription money to invest in bitcoin on: November 06, 2023, 05:22:01 AM
Pretty sure most people these days don’t have any cable tv or satellite subscription. Almost everybody has an Netflix, Disney Plus or just uses YouTube.

I think one of the reasons is that it’s onDemand. You don’t need to view the TV guide and wait for a favorite show to start. Plus with a normal Netflix subscription there are no ads in the middle of your movies and shows. The cable tv model is a dying business pretty much.
783  Economy / Speculation / Re: What did you think will happen to Bitcoin before January? on: November 05, 2023, 05:52:48 AM
Most likely November will be a volatile month. Hopefully it’s in the up direction and not down and hopefully it’s due to the approved etf.

In December usually not much happens in crypto or some markets because of the holidays. November is going to be the most active month until the second half of January when liquidity will return. So anyway now we should know how the end of the year will look like.
784  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: is there a posibility someone could brueforce your wallet seed phrase ? on: November 05, 2023, 05:49:48 AM
If you practice proper cold storage techniques then you are safe from super computers. The issue arrives when you are using Windows and are opening lots of sketchy links and downloading sketchy files. Then there is a huge chance your crypto can be stolen. But it wouldn’t get stolen due to poor entropy it would be stolen due to poor security on the end user.

So if you are new just use a hardware wallet or just leave it on the exchange. Just use 2fa which isn’t sms, use unique email and password and should be fine for most people.
785  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: WHAT'S SPECIAL ABOUT THE UPCOMING BITCOIN HALVING 2024 on: November 05, 2023, 05:44:28 AM
The interest rate pivot will only cause a bull run if they start to aggressively cut the rates due to some credit events taking place. Everybody is waiting for this however if they slowly cut the rates by 25bps every season then it won’t have the desired effect as everyone thinks.

Sure if they reduce it to 0% suddenly then obviously people will be buying stocks and crypto and real estate however that will only happen if there is a nasty recession.
786  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 93 Percent of all Bitcoin Has Been Mined on: November 04, 2023, 05:24:44 AM
Yes there is very little supply out there. I read that 85% of all bitcoins haven’t moved In the last 3 months. ExchAnge reserves are near lows and that is why when a strong bitcoin rally starts why we have explosive moves. Because there just isn’t any bitcoins to sell once the weak hands sell.

I remeber back in 2017 when Bitcoin atms were sold out of bitcoins, you couldn’t buy any only sell yours. Basically they just couldn’t allocate any in that crazy FOMO time.

787  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What are the odds of guessing someone's private key or seedphrase? on: November 04, 2023, 05:19:52 AM
Yeah I’ve also worried about this but after doing research its impossible to guess someone’s private key or any BTC address with a balance on it that was created with a proper wallet.

You don’t realize how large these private keys are and what computing power is required to be able to solve any key. So you can rest assured that your private key is safe as long as you practice strong cold storage or hardware wallet security practices.
788  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: FTX CEO Sam Bankman Fried found guilty on: November 04, 2023, 05:16:47 AM
Yeah i remember that article that came out last year. We read it and dismissed it but for assurance we wanted SBF to tweet it’s nonsense. And all of a sudden his tweets stopped. Usually he tweeted like crazy but after that article he went silent for a day or two.

Then he tweeted it was nonsense and it started to deteriorate a few days later. Took less than a week if I recall for the exchange to collapse. Good that he was found guilty.
789  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC Sentiment Poll for November on: November 03, 2023, 03:02:29 AM
Without checking the poll results, I am pretty sure everybody is extremely bullish. Especially since we had a bullish October, sometimes November has explosive moves for bitcoin and the Bitcoin ETF is very close.

This reminds me of November 2018, everybody was expecting the $6K low to be the bottom and everybody looked at previous November and saw how bullish November usually was so everybody went long and the complete opposite happened.

When too many people are bullish that is not a good thing.
790  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Compilation of fake/unsolvable puzzles/challenges on: November 03, 2023, 02:59:45 AM
I don't understand the first one but regarding the last two, isn't it extremely difficult and impossible to break ECDSA and Sha256 encryption? I am sure if there was some fault it would of been discovered long ago.

Yeah that would be like someone offering to pay $1M if someone could crack the private key of one of Satoshi's early mined blocks. Basically its pretty much impossible and hence the $1M reward would never be paid and would be a big waste of time for anyone attempting to crack it.
791  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is the irreversibility of Bitcoin transactions a downside for an average person? on: November 03, 2023, 02:56:19 AM
Remember ebay/Paypal?

They basically had a system which sided with the buyers generally. It got to the point where many people stopped selling on eBay altogether because there were too many claims opened against sellers and the transactions were easily reversed and the seller was stuck with no product and no money.

This is a bad centralised system where it doesn't work in general. Hence payments like bitcoin are better because if people can trust one another then it can work as a exchange. Its easier to learn how to spot scams and protect yourself to not get your crypto stolen so you don't have to reverse it rather than have not and have to deal with transactions which can get reversed.
792  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is It Late To Invest In Bitcoin? on: November 03, 2023, 02:52:46 AM
You can invest in bitcoin at any time, it would be good for your retirement, however keep in mind it won't be like buying bitcoin in 2015 when it was $200. You might 2x or 3x within the next decade but don't expect to 50x your gains.

This is the reason why many people buy altcoins because they want those 100x gains like the early bitcoin adopters. However there are so many altcoins out there that many of them have a higher chance of going to 0 than 100x. Remember Doge how people assumed it would hit $10 a doge? Well the market cap was unsustainable at those levels and why it stalled and headed back down and lost 90% of its value from ATH.
793  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The blackRock Bitcoin ETF on: November 02, 2023, 04:26:20 AM
We have a physical spot Bitcoin etf in Canada. It went live like 2 years ago and it didn’t really have much inflows. Currently it’s something like $1B Canadian dollars. I think it had the most inflows when it went live but since then it went nowhere.

Sure $1B is a lot but it’s in Canadian funds which is more like $750M USD but after 2 years it’s not that much inflows. Even Microstrategy alone buys like $100M worth every month, just one company.

Maybe since it’s a blackrock etf and based on the states it will get more inflows but it’s seems the Canadian one didn’t get much investment from retirement funds.
794  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Another ETF's Ticker got Listed on DTCC on: November 02, 2023, 04:21:04 AM
From all the research I did last time DTCC listed the blackrock ticker, it doesn’t mean it’s a guaranteed listing. Some guy who claims to worked on Wall Street for years says it doesn’t mean it will necessarily get listed, doesn’t mean it’ll not get listed however.

Today we got a new high and it was hours after they listed the ticker on DTCC which provides more proof that there is some other reason why Bitcoin and other cryptos are pumping. Especially Solana which had a 20% day and it’s higher than it was during the Ftx crash.
795  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Whales moved $230 Million to New Address on: November 02, 2023, 04:17:19 AM
In the past there were many mislabeled wallets as F2Pool. That pool has been around for a very long time and all these analysis companies make mistakes when they label them.

Most likely it’s an old hodler and he is moving to a new wallet which has better security. As long as they are not sent to an exchange, then I wouldn’t worry. The real worry will be when the MtGox coins move or when those seized coins start to move.
796  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will Spot Bitcoin ETF also favor the SEC? on: November 01, 2023, 04:27:03 AM
The SEC doesn’t care what happens with the etf after it’s approved. They don’t want there to be issues like there being some broken network and leads to huge price declines which end up causing huge losses in the financial system.

One reason why they are skeptical about approving it is if there is some big problem like the chain stops and price crashes 80% in a day, it will set off margin calls everywhere and it’ll lead to institutions dumping other assets like SP500 futures which will tank that market also. Hence why it’s taking so long to get it approved.
797  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is the irreversibility of Bitcoin transactions a downside for an average person? on: November 01, 2023, 04:22:02 AM
There are pros and cons for both.

Sure it would be great if your funds were stolen or you sent to the wrong address to reverse them since those are accidental and transactions you didn’t approve.

The issue is that if you allow transaction to be reversed then so will scams happen. People will buy stuff, pay with bitcoin and then try to reverse it, which is obviously not good.

In my opinion I think the way it is now is the perfect method since you know once it’s confirmed it’s yours forever and you don’t need to worry about it reversing.
798  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Blackrock ETF listed on the ticker index… perhaps it’s approved? on: November 01, 2023, 04:18:56 AM
Looks like another bitcoin etf was just added to the DTCC, this one is BTCO and it’s for the Investco Galaxy Bitcoin ETF.

Again have no idea what this means since apparently the other one was listed since August and after this one was added a few hours back there was no pump.

So this I guess means that these don’t really mean much until an actual approval.
799  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Goerli Mining on: October 31, 2023, 05:02:39 AM
Yeah I remember having a hard time getting those test net ETH when I needed to try out a few new networks. I think it’s crazy how some are charging for these tokens which should of always been free.

I don’t remember the price but I think it’s going for like $1-2 per fake ETH. It’s crazy paying for this but sometimes you really didn’t have a choice when you wanted to do some testing on the testnet.
800  Economy / Economics / Re: Isn't Fiat the Real Ponzi on: October 31, 2023, 04:59:36 AM
Fiat is a scam but it’s not considered a ponzi. Ponzi is what Madoff did and it’s where he took the money from his newest investors to pay off the oldest investors which were cashing out.

The fact that he got away with this for years is what’s crazy. You would think some accountant would find something off sooner than later.

Eventually when too many people tried to withdraw at once it’s when the ponzi crumbled and he was exposed.
