"So yes, many people become very quiet when they're faced with the realistic possibility that they're going to have to defend against a libel claim even if what they said is true. Because it's all very well to defend, but if it costs $10,000 to defend a true comment, well you're out $10,000. How much is it worth?"

It comes down to how much are you willing to pay to prove you are right. If a big dawg comes after you its going to cost one way or the other.  You have to lawyer up or risk having a hefty judgement ruled against you.

Seeing that Spoetnik deletes my posts in his threads, thought I would start my own. Unmoderated.

Taken from Poloniex troll box:

"Spoetnik: i'll be offline soon enough you all Wink
Spoetnik: i have said for 2/3 months have to move soon.. so i will have no internet i think for a while (not sure how long)"

Is our Crypto-Hero crumbling under the pressure?

Come on Spoetnik don't give up the good fight. I'm sure we can get a donation address together to help you out with the legal fees.

edit:

Since posting this Spoetnik has had a change of heart (see post 49).
He is NOT running away and will ( I assume) meet further challenges head on.
Atta boy Spoetnik!
784  Other / Off-topic / Re: What do you guys think of Yandex? on: October 31, 2014, 09:39:59 PM
Are they likely to be around for long? Are they better or equal to gmail my current provider?

I've used Yandex for years. Not for anything important or sensitive. They only get a "C" at Qualyss Labs for security. Gmail gets an "A". I'm not sure if they have implemented 2FA yet which is imperative for business.

The do have a terrific interface with some nice features. I really like being able to have an email sent at future date - this is great for reminders.

Yandex is Russian in origin and very big over there. Not going away anytime soon.
785  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Blocknet's Dan - Is going to sue Spoetnik on: October 31, 2014, 09:18:41 PM
"Blocknet's Dan" has no choice but to follow up with legal action if he wants to clear his name.  Its the only way to get to the truth.

Would be interesting to see how many were named in a legal action. He's got the money to hire lawyers.
786  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [SCAM] BLOCKNET: The Metcalf/Prom Alt-Coin Cartel Scam Exposed on: October 31, 2014, 08:04:49 PM

Look for coins where devs are begging for donations instead of a premine.  Litecoin, dogecoin, peercoin, BBR, Monero (both Monero & BBR might be tainted depending on how you look at things).  Older PoW coins (and a select few new ones) appear to not be scams.

Most of this place is shady as hell.

Sad part is I'm not convinced there is anything to be gained by putting money in non scam coins.
I hear you. I am invested in other coins with good devs and communities. The only thing you get out of it is the feel good feeling you are not getting scammed even if your investment keeps tanking.

Hype and PR drives this marketplace. Hopefully, people will start investing in established projects instead of chasing the very elusive quick buck.
787  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [SCAM] BLOCKNET: The Metcalf/Prom Alt-Coin Cartel Scam Exposed on: October 31, 2014, 07:33:30 PM
So sorry for everyone that invested in this scam operation. Lots of troubling info has been shared publicly about the figures that are connected with Blocknet. No thanks, keeping my $! Good luck to everyone that invested...

This is a shit storm period. I have no idea wtf is going on.  My only recourse is not to buy any coin or token remotely connected to this. This also includes the competing coins/projects that are capitalizing on the FUD. Not that anybody really gives a f*ck what I do .... lol.

I don't know how anyone is going to find something untainted.

I am planning to hoard my coins for a very long time but it doesn't make it feel any better when the price is on a downward spiral.
That's exactly how I feel.

If its a sinking ship, so be it.
789  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: October 31, 2014, 06:46:14 PM
I would seriously appreciate the bottom, need to take my life back. Please.

I hear ya.  Is it just me or has anyone else been delaying things until BTC decides to go up in price again?

It is a bit painful.  We are perhaps a little "overinvested" right now.  Sure, we can sell coins right now (not even at a loss of what we paid originally) but it is a horrible time to sell, so we wait, and wait and wait.   Undecided

In the mean time, we could really use a new couch, new carpet, have a zero percent credit card that we are just delaying paying because we don't really want to sell coins and then Christmas is just around the corner.  The kids really want a nice Christmas. Wink  Hopefully we are at least back to $600 by then?  I can hope anyways.

I'm thinking Feb., March for up trend. Cannot see people investing much in btc with Christmas looming. The new year may see more lows with people cashing in btc to pay for the holidays. Who really knows?
790  Other / Off-topic / Re: VIRTUALBOX on: October 31, 2014, 04:34:33 PM
Virtualbox is good enough. But it lacks the fullscreen feature Cry

You need to install "guest additions" to get adjustable window size including fullscreen.

In "devices" choose "insert guest additions cd image".  Depending on your host operating system, it should find the cd image itself, otherwise you will have to hunt for it. Guest additions is included with the virtualbox download.

Best scenerio is using a linux host and creating your VB operating systems.  Even using Solaris as a host OS is a good solution if it supports your hardware.
791  Other / Off-topic / Re: Tim Cook is Gay on: October 31, 2014, 12:50:35 AM
There is much more to a person than their sexuality.

Are they good neighbours?
Are they good to their spouse and family?
Are they honest?

The list goes on and on.
Worrying about their gayness would be near the bottom of that list.

792  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: XC Dev dumps entire dev fund on loyal supporters before moving on to blocknet on: October 30, 2014, 04:29:42 PM
Many a pre-mine scandal hath brought down a coin.

It looks bad for XC. The last few pages in the ANN are a mess.

I wonder how they will handle the blocknet ICO funds.

What happened with premine wallet?

Current balance seems to be only 6073 XC and just yesterday 2 transactions happened with total of -12628 XC.

Seems a bit bad that I've been holding if the "full transparency" premine address has been emptied and I'd like to see a clear answer on this from atcsecure.

At the start of September the wallet had in it 46K now down to 6K.  Dumping from September onwards.

When can we start trading after the ITO is over?

Poloniex is down right now but they were trading blocknet earlier. Live trading not ico.

Reese,

You could have bought blocknet with your Xc for a 10% discount. There was a limited number of blocknet tokens available for this offer.  These sold out in a few hours.

I think that offer was shared with the other affiliate coins.

I think it's unfair that some folks couldn't use some of their XC to buy blocknet tokens. I didn't find out about this until after it was sold out.

It was "first come first served". To hell with the long time Xc holders.

Please answer my question.

Is it not possible to buy with 10% off anymore?

It is not possible, because CoinGateway has sold out of BLOCK, and no altcoin:BLOCK pairings are available.

It is now only possible to buy BLOCK using BTC, at Bittrex, Polo, or Bter.

That sucks.

Yes, it sucks. Little regard was given to those who hold Xc or the other blocknet affliates.

ICO at bittrex and live trading elsewhere. Priceless.

You can train a cat to sit on your baby...

Yes. Sit on the baby's face and smuther it to death. It happens without training.

every time I buy BTC goes down at least $50 3 days later...beginning to think it is ME...sorry guys...best I not buy....the btc karma guys hate my ass

(besides you all will likely hunt me down if I continue such actions!)

so maybe I will just sit on hands for a bit....
Last time I bought the price plummeted $200.  So ... ya .... sitting on hands here too.
