781  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Instant Bitcoin on: January 18, 2024, 01:40:14 PM
Even with your smart approach of advertising another altcoin, I know and most of us here know that your surely shilling for some coin that you have refused to mention yet but actually waiting for some to request you to mention the particular coin.

We all know this strategies but I would love to say take such post to altcoin discussion.

Like the two to three coins mentioned above they both provide speed for payments but aren't safe as Bitcoin, so what do you prefer? Safety or speed? Centralized or decentralized (privacy).
782  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Head up for newbies on: January 18, 2024, 11:35:07 AM
I don't know why this kind of issues keep popping up but, if you wish to impact or advise newbies I guess you should start with yourself first.

That thread is open and you can comment there than create a new thread trying to let newbies know what you really need to know. Now it's as if you're get criticism in your post yeah that's what it is but, I do say this alot you can't give what you don't have and trying to do so will end up in this criticism of your post.

What I advise you now is before you make a post (create a thread) go and do some little research know if the post is what it, you know somethings are better left the way there are. So if you feel the forum can go without the thread you wish to created then let it be or if it's not too impactful then just let go.

Just a friendly advise from your fellow newbie
783  Economy / Speculation / Re: Buy the DIP, and HODL! on: January 18, 2024, 01:24:22 AM
That is the last choice when that will be taken by us in the end when it is a difficult situation and there is no other way we can do because it is already inconvenient to deal with some difficult situations then I think it is not a problem to sell a small part of the portfolio that we have to support so that our lives survive but of course there is another note that this can be done if we have already profited from it and when we have been doing DCA for a long time I think we have definitely benefited from the previous DCA so selling for very urgent needs is not a problem if it is the last choice and the only option left because we must realize that even though investing in bitcoin is important but supporting the current life to survive well is much more important. The only option left because we must realize that even though investing in bitcoin is important, supporting life today so that it survives well is far more important.
Of course I will partially agree with you for some reason but never completely. Though some times situations where our life's depend on our investment, we probably don't give an f* of what it will cost us but as long as we are alive it's the best option.

So this where most of us here in this thread gets it's all wrong because emergency funds are savings that are might to bail us put of situations that would have cost us our investment rather it will only take your emergency funds instead of your investment, that is the core purpose of emergency funds.
but most of you don't really understand this fact, if you're preparing yourself for investment, your emergency fund should be a priority for you in order to survive all kind of waves including the life threatening issues that was supposed to cost you your investment. This emergency funds should not just be for a mere car repair issues or minor medical issues but contain both the funds that will probably drive you away from all kind of problem that will seek you to attempt with your investment.

If you wish to understand Bitcoin investment very well I will suggest you go to JJG’s Outline of Bitcoin Investment Ideas thread there you will read more about both emergency funds and all the methods of Bitcoin accumulations.

I think for now I'll just follow up a bit till I can grab what your saying fully, I'll try my best to keep following on this thread. I can see a I've got a lot to learn here. What kind of wallet is best for holding, I just keep mine on Binance, do u think its okay?. If mistakes are inevitable, I'll make sure my back up funds are always in place.
Buddy! Yeah you've got alot of learning to do not just here in this thread but the forum generally. but as long as you keep up here you will for sure get aquatinted with the buy the dip and hodl knowledge and I will suggest you read further to comprehend everything that is being discussed here by reading this thread JJG’s Outline of Bitcoin Investment Ideas

For wallet, it's best to hodl a good stash of Bitcoin in a secured wallet and not an exchange like binance. A self custodial wallet is most advised and for such you can create a cold wallet on an airgapped devices to be more secured with you holdings. but if you're just holding a very low amount of Bitcoin you can probably still keep it on an exchange wallet for some time but as soon as it hits a $500 and above then you should move to a good wallet like I have suggested above.
784  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Accepting Bitcoin without a confirmation on: January 17, 2024, 09:51:37 PM

Are you suggesting that Bitcoin is only good for transactions that take 6 hours and are over $600.

No that's not what his saying! but for transactions to get more confirmation faster you have to just simply increase the tx fee. which equally means that Bitcoin is not only for transactions that are over $600, its used for even very low amounts as far as I know.

Afaik Bitcoin tx takes about 10 minutes to get a confirmation. so for 6 confirmation it takes an average of about an hour ( 10 minutes per confirmation = 6 confirmation in 1 hour) so I don't know where your 6 hours confirmation is coming from.

This is not going to work for most merchants unless they take on the risk of the unconfirmed transaction or Core fixes this issue.  Layer 2 is not the solution either because it is not peer-to-peer.

Suggestions???

So as a Marchant or business own it's not never advisable to accept unconfirmed transactions no matter the tx fee used for such transaction. that is why there exist RBF as a solution instead of accepting unconfirmed transactions.

Bitcoin works Viz vice (side by side) with fiat so if you can't afford to use Bitcoin as payment why not just us your fiat to avoid all the dramas. or better stick to the 6 confirmation condition for your business.

787  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: A piece of advise to everyone. on: January 17, 2024, 10:11:59 AM
<....>
I want to ask you a question, does being a newbie mean you don't actually have anything yet to offer to the forum or you're inexperienced? Like there are actually some newbies here that have been into cryptocurrencies before they found this forum of which some newbies are more knowledgeable than some of the so called legendaries and higher rank members here, does it mean one should be dumb about opinion of others even when they're wrong simply because you're a newbie?
Maybe if you actually took your time to read through the 3 pages you might I found out that this question has been attended to so many times.

One thing you must know is that the word newbie according to Oxford dictionary means an inexperienced newcomer to a particular activities. but newbie in this forum only implies that you are new to the forum (environment) and not your knowledge. So you're not disputed for correcting a senior colleague, we all are humans and we have flaws, so we are prune to mistakes. if you correct someone for some mistake it doesn't guarantee your knowledge or that doesn't mean you're more knowledgeable than they are it might just be for the moment.

Here nobody is saying shouldn't correct people who are ranked higher than but don't make blind arguments that will tarnish your image or lead you to being included in an ignore list.

Well, I think we should stop this perception of feeling too authoritative simply because you're a higher rank member. You may actually have more experience about the forum because it took you a lot of time to build your rank but that doesn't mean you know it all as sometimes a newbie can be more productive than a higher rank member.
Certainly that fact isn't disputed, I understand your feelings right now and I promise you as time goes on will find out why so things are the way they are.
788  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: I'm New To Crypto - Been Scammed - What Do You Think Of This Crypto Recovery Ser on: January 16, 2024, 08:05:32 PM
[edited out]
What do you make of the 100's of positive reviews?

Also, it wasn't a telegram scam. I followed a prominent YouTube crypto channel and paid money to join his Patreon and discord. He then advised me to deposit funds into webulltradingbot.com for high returns. I foolishly did.
Even with the 100s of reviews it could still be scam. There are websites that sells reviews and they might have bought some positive reviews to make their sites legit. So positive reviews do guarantee safety in any ways.

Sorry for your lost once again! I thought it was one of the telegram scams because I have seen so many of them.

One thing you must know, even the YouTube influencers that promote this scams are not aware of the scams sometimes because they definitely do not use them. So their jobs is just to promote them and get pay thats all they do, which is  why you can be scammed from the posts of an influencer.

Since you have registered here, just take your time and learn from this forum. Ask questions that are not clear to you here and you will definitely get good answers with that you will never fall for scams anymore.
789  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: I'm New To Crypto - Been Scammed - What Do You Think Of This Crypto Recovery Ser on: January 16, 2024, 07:42:14 PM
Hi

Obviously you have been scammed and webulltrading.com is scam site that is used for fraudulent activities. Although the people who scammed only used webull as a bait for since it originally existed. I supposed it was one of those telegram scams.

Sorry you have lost your money and I don't think there exist a website or an app that can reverse your deposit or recover any lost funds. I advise you move on and forget about the funds because if you continue going after the money you will probably lose more because the same scammers will promise you that your money can be recovered hence will scam you off another funds.

Be cautious, trade wisely next time and hope you will learn here never to trust anyone with your funds and one more thing you should know crypto or Bitcoin is not a get rich quick thing.
790  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Segwit raw transaction decoder on: January 16, 2024, 04:09:38 PM

791  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Social engineering a risk to security on: January 16, 2024, 01:30:24 PM
Now what brought about my research on social engineering was a method called sim Jacking.

Sim Swapping
To be honest i never knew it was possible to gain a person 2FA code without having access to the sim. I have always be paranoid with leaving my Mobile number online and this made me affirmed by decision. KYC is dangerous in the hands of reputable platforms but more so in individuals hands. Binance p2p merchant (some) usually ask for their customers number and this number can make one vulnerable to sim swapping attack.
Hackers are one of the smartest internet users hence knows how to get connections to different network providers. Sim jacking or sim hijacking is a very popular way hackers use to defraud people, it has existed for a long time now and I have been discussed in diverse ways here in the forum. One thing I know about this scam is that now there don't need to get in contact with you before they do there things, they only need to know your phone number and boom they can even clone it to a genuine sim card that can implement phones calls too that where it gets more scary.

I have got to know that no where is really safe but we can try as much as we can to get the maximum safety we can, Like using the above suggested pattern to get you 2FA messages.
792  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Newbies how do you feel when your post is criticised. on: January 16, 2024, 01:08:10 PM
Its quite normal to get criticism not only this forum but everywhere especially when you're new to such environment, so the must essential advise that I offered everyone who does get angry or discouraged is in quote "learn to grow thicker skin" don't limit your self from knowledge because you got one bad response whereas there thousand of good response.

This has been discussed a million times but it keeps reoccurring because we are humans and every new person must experience it too, so as time goes on you will learn that because of the repetition of things most people tend to get pissed for answering one question several times hence responds in an unlikely manner. Due to the fact that I have experienced such I will just give one more advise to any newbie that might find it useful.
"You're not the first to get a NO in your first attempt so don't give up for nothing. Even the person who gave you criticism in your post got criticized too in their beginning days, so don't let that get into your head rather turn it to a learning motive and exploit the negative energy you receive thereby turning them to positivity."
793  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: cashout or wait till the end? on: January 15, 2024, 09:25:02 PM
Without thinking twice I will hit the cash out button even if it's not as huge as the potential win but according to my people it's said "half bread is better than non" which means it's better to get the minimum and loss everything. I supposed I have seen such situations so many times even with someone I can remember here in the forum Gormista. he was in such situations too and let it matches finished but he ended up losing so it's applicable to yours too.

I always ask myself why do you guys need our opinions when you will end up doing your own will?. BTW, with the amount you staked here I believe it's just an amount I some people could use for lunch including you that means you can afford to loss it. and if you subtract that from the cash out it probably has not effect on the amount so why will you rather loss than win at least 1.85 million?.

Well, the ball is in your court, play it as you wish.

cashing out or waiting till the end of game which is more better?
If I staked $3158 and cashout to win almost $1.85 million? Or to wait and win $31.639 million? I will not wait two times to cashout and receive $1.85 million instead. $1.85 million is not a small amount of money at all, especially in my country. That means I am already a very wealthy person.
His from my country and the platform his gambling on doesn't use dollar so it's in out local currency.
794  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Has this forum helped you gain experience in bitcoin, share your experience on: January 15, 2024, 01:42:58 PM
This forum is in existence for helping out people solve there daily problems around the crypto space not just Bitcoin alone but mostly for Bitcoin. TIt has help me and others here in diverse ways since I signed up and I still believe it's achieving it's purpose as time goes on. There are few things that are remarkable that I have learnt here, privacy, security, economical management etc.

I guess this is one of the multiple times I have seen such discussion about Bitcoin here, I would love to have you make more research about topics before you publish them because it's seems the forum is beginning to get flooded with repeated posts. though I enjoy telling stories but when it's too much it becomes stress. Enjoy your time here and keep learning.
795  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Is cyber crime the last resort of the struggling Nigerians on: January 14, 2024, 10:29:53 AM
In the case of Nigerians youths who gets involved with cyber crimes the 70% per cent analysis by the EFCC is quiet correct because from my knowledge about this case efcc has over 50 professors who are analysts and economists that knows how to make good assumptions. when they say 70% they are absolutely correct.

I'm not always interested in news about the rate of cyber crime in this country because they left them no option when the youth role models a fraudster what do you expect his follows to do. infact the country as a whole is into fraud but in diverse ways. just because yours isn't casted doesn't mean you are not included. politicians are even involved with this cyber crime, for those of you who live in port Harcourt I know a politician who has a HK around egbelu axis so this cyber crime is so broad that I don't blame the youths but they too are accountable for there actions.
796  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Human trafficking on: January 14, 2024, 09:52:11 AM
<...>
We can see more of this in many advanced countries bring children and females for sex trafficking business.
This kind of business had been in existence for centuries and I'm not sure if it's going to be stopped one day. There are so many victims of human trafficking and most time when they explain there agony and what they had passed through in the hands of there traffickers, the story is always excruciating to the core. This traffickers has no pitty and they usually sex use there slaves.
Most times I ask questions like is there anything like karma? or God to judge all this? because this people live the best of life even with the highest number of atrocities yet they make it out without facing the law.

Why am i even talking about law when they are the law themselves and how then can they be punished. You may be thinking human trafficking is just majorly children and women both men too. There are some men that I know who are suffering inside some under prison because they where enslaved while chasing greener pastures. When we see some boxers fighting especially blacks who came out of prison if they exposed how they got there you will find out that it's all human trafficking from the elites which makes them go silent because if spilled out they might even loss their lives.

Like I said it's very broad that we that thinks we aren't enslaves are still under this human trafficking especially blacks.
797  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: The hidden truth about Bitcoin on: January 14, 2024, 09:33:08 AM
It's never in any way a hidden truth about Bitcoin because it's every where in the crypto space that one must not wait for the dip to buy Bitcoin. it's equally what we call DCA dollar cost averaging. which means buying little bit by bit of any amount and at any time, without wasting much of your time calculating or thinking about it you just go into investment that is what you point says. Now there are many other methods to buy Bitcoin but is some times requires you to wait for some period that might not come so in as much as Bitcoin is concerned buying regularly is the best especially when you have set aside your emergency funds to take care of your bills.

When it has to do with investing in Bitcoin time doesn't matter if you are consistent in your purchase no matter how small you stash might be from the very start it will surely go to an expected average if constantly added.

So nobody is trying to decide you about bitcoin investment rather they suggest you buy the dip and hodl for some reasons.

799  Other / Off-topic / Re: If you think you found Satoshi? on: January 14, 2024, 04:10:06 AM
I supposed this is just for fun right? if so here is my answer.

I will never let anyone else know about it, not even my friends because I wouldn't like him to go to jail because there are so many people out there looking for him to give him some charge that will definitely put him to jail.

And I wouldn't like to blow his covered. So I will approach him and give him a bug hug but won't tell him the reason for the hug or just say "keep up the good work".

Fun fact: wake up from that dream bro  Grin
800  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Just HODL on: January 14, 2024, 04:00:21 AM
the worse thing is that people who trade actually make it look simple as if it's an easy thing and this is what influences the newbie to see trading as some kind of luck game in which you can play and get lucky to be successful but trading is a totally different game because you will have to learn and be atleast a pro  before ever thinking of making profits on a steady out of trading.
Exactly, this traders do not just make it look simple but make it sound like if you're not trading then you're not doing anything right. not just the traders even social media influencers make trading sound so attractive that most newbies only thing of trading even with good knowledge of the market and how it works.

They show off the luxurious lifestyle that makes beginners wish to be like them that have taken a 1000 step on it and a newbie with almost zero knowledge wants to trade and make same profit like the role models.

What this people show to the public is absolutely different from what really happens in the real trading.
