781  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2023/24 on: November 20, 2023, 10:41:51 PM
This is a difficult time for Barcelona, both for the players and the manager. Gavi is an important player of the team, and his presence is well recognised and appreciated. His injury appears to be severe, and he could be out for the rest of the season. These are difficult times for both Barcelona and Real Madrid, as Real Madrid is also dealing with injuries as a result of the international break.

When these players complain about these things, fans, and FAs say they're paid to play so they should play. They'll even point to how much they're paid. Even if a player is paid a billion a week, his body will still break down when it can't go on anymore.

The games are too much, there's not enough time for these players to rest. FIFA and other regulatory bodies just keep adding more competitions and changing the current competitions to include more games.
It doesn't matter how much these players earn, they're still humans.

I this goes on for a long time, we'll begin to see that players can't remain in top form for a long time due to injuries. Gavi might not be the same when he comes back from injury around August next year. That's about 10 months without football. We saw how Fati suffered, Pedri too, and now Gavi.
Vinicius has been struggling with injuries and has not gotten an opportunity to heal properly. It's killing the players and therefore killing the game.
782  Economy / Speculation / Re: What will SEC delay on Spot ETF approval do to Bitcoin's price?@ on: November 20, 2023, 09:54:24 PM
At this point, I don't think there will be any more dip till the halving. A lot of people will be buying Bitcoin while anticipating the halving. This will increase the demand and make the price keep increasing.

As for the ETF, a lot of experts believe it will be approved in Janus and that's like 2 months from now. It's not a very long time so people who bought Bitcoin for that reason won't want to sell it off when they could hold on for 2-3 more months and see what happens.
783  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What is the best thing that have ever come to you thanks to BTC on: November 20, 2023, 04:00:27 PM
One of the best things about Bitcoin to me is the fact that I can save money for a very long time without worrying about inflation.
Secondly, I can send or receive money to and from other countries without issues

You would have made same amount if you had traded stock or other asset aside Bitcoin and you would find more friends outside Bitcoin also. Bitcoin isn't supernatural it is not here to take away all the problems of mankind.
Bitcoin rather is a Crypto-currency asset that can make financial system easier.

But he does not trade stock or other stock, does he?
The opportunities of learning how to trade stock are relatively more difficult and it's relatively too traditional.
I get your point, but he didn't in any way say or mean that Bitcoin is supernatural.
784  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Bitcoin really too Expensive? Then Buy Satoshis on: November 19, 2023, 07:01:54 PM
There are around 19+ million BTC that have been mined/circulating so far, however, there are only 13+ million currently available. Where do these 6 million Bitcoins go? There are different reasons, for example, some people lose access to their coins due to lost keys, being incorrectly sent to an incorrect address, or other reasons. Due to these reasons, the access to those Bitcoins is lost, and no other way to recover.

Oh!
Thanks a lot. How stupid of me.
I was actually thinking the coins are somehow misplaced on the network and they disappear, that's why I was wondering how that is possible.
Thanks.
785  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Bitcoin really too Expensive? Then Buy Satoshis on: November 19, 2023, 12:02:10 PM
This is why it is advisable to get an income before looking for ways to invest. You can't invest if you don't have money. If you do not have money to buy Bitcoin and you're worried about missing out on Bitcoin then you're worrying about the wrong thing to me. It's good that you have a mind and urge to invest, but fear of missing out shouldn't be your motivation.
Focus on getting an income, it is from that income that you can use to buy Bitcoin or Satoshis

1 satoshi may worth up to $0.2 cents or even more, there are only 100 million of satoshis in every 1 bitcoin, and a total/max supply of 2.1 quadrillion satoshis off the total supply of bitcoin which is 21 million (disregarding that around 6 million bitcoins is estimated to be lost, which also means that the satoshis equivalent to this amount of bitcoins are also lost)

I've seen this before and I do not understand it, so I'm going to use this opportunity to ask. How does Bitcoin get lost from the system? I can understand when it's the fiat cash flow and all, but when it's Bitcoin, how does about 6 million Bitcoins disappear from the system?

787  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is not perfect, and that's okay. on: November 18, 2023, 01:34:30 PM
Bitcoin is not perfect and we can make it better! 150sats for transfer, what a shame lol

Everything can always get better. There's always room for improvement in every innovation and Bitcoin will definitely grow. These are part of the reasons why I say it's not perfect. Besides, this is not a permanent issue, it will normalize with time.

789  Economy / Economics / Re: Cryptocurrency is the second most popular investment in "France" on: November 17, 2023, 11:38:15 PM
Same as this we can see the rest of the world through proper awareness. Being one among the first world country makes it easy achievable. The young generation are much connected and they have got access to learn and know better about technology. Few more countries will have the similar results if surveys were taken. In third world countries people get into it without proper understanding and the same could turn against them losing their investment. This is the problem why we don't see much of investment preference from the third world countries towards cryptocurrency.

Some third-world countries also have a very high adoption of crypto.
I've looked at the charts and a lot of developing countries are doing well when it comes to crypto adoption if the reports are to be believed. The reason a lot of them go into crypto is because they have found an alternative. They live in countries where there is a high rate of unemployment and a high rate of inflation, so in their quest to break out the circle of poverty, they go into crypto.

Looking at that chart OP posted, it just got me thinking. A decade ago, many young people didn't have investments. This was because the investments were expensive and you have to have saved a lot of money before you can go into them, plus they were complicated. That is why it was mostly older people who had financial investments.
Today a lot young people have the opportunity to own an investment thanks to crypto.
790  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is not a get rich quick scheme. on: November 17, 2023, 11:19:03 PM
Bitcoin could be used as get rich quick if you trade it in futures, I think many people use this when they believe in Bitcoin and at the same time they want to take a big risk. Since most of them hold their coins in CEX, they don't feel if Bitcoin fee is high and should carefully to send it.

Future trading is a risky type of trading that requires a lot of experience, so I don't see how that can be a get-rich-quick scheme. They have to do the work and take the risk. Get-rich-quick schemes are advertised as investments with zero risk. There's no experience needed and profit is 100% certain. That is why it is usually a scam because there's no way you can call something an investment if it carries no risk. How do you define investment without including profit and losses?
791  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: An easy approach to Bitcoin on: November 17, 2023, 10:44:19 PM
Before a person can really appreciate Bitcoin, he has to understand how the traditional system works, he has to know that the system is built not to favor him. In other words, he has to understand the money system and know why it's good for him to look for an alternative. The person has to understand the limitations of the traditional money system and how Bitcoin solves most of those limitations and sadly, I don't think kids can understand these. Even a lot of adults in Bitcoin don't understand this and that is why Bitcoin is underutilized to an extent.
Most people only care about the investment side of Bitcoin and that's not the only too good to be true feature of Bitcoin.

As much as I like kids to know about Bitcoin, I feel there are certain knowledge they ought to have before they really grasp the innovation of Bitcoin.

I like how the face of the person playing the creator of Bitcoin in the video was not revealed. I guess that's trying to portray the fact that nobody actually knows who he/they is/are.
792  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Enjoy being a newbie on: November 17, 2023, 12:14:43 PM
I see it less necessary to create topic thread as a lower rank member, my thoughts should still be based on reading and trying to gain much knowledge.
I won't call it lack of self confidence but I think at this my level of ranking am not even at a very good position to create threads and start teaching because I see very well experienced members which am not yet qualified to teach them because I still have a lot to learn from them. So I do more good than harm of reading, answering and asking questions that Is of utmost interest

This is your opinion and I respect it, but it's only accurate to an extent. The fact that a person is a newbie on this forum doesn't mean he's a newbie in Bitcoin. There are people who are very good traders and have a lot of knowledge about Bitcoin who are not on the forum. So if we limit the sharing of knowledge through topics to only old members on the forum, I feel like we will be missing out on what that fellow has to offer.

We're all here to learn and what's the point of we can't learn from people with lower ranks than us? A thing I've always liked about this forum is the fact that it has a ranking system but that doesn't affect the flow of knowledge.
It only becomes a problem when a newbie is teaching or trying to educate others on stuff about the forum, like how to use the forum.
793  Economy / Speculation / Re: September didn't follow its bear cycle on: November 16, 2023, 11:19:19 PM
So I will not assume the news of the ETF is entirely responsible for the gains recorded in Bitcoin price recently... there should be other factors which are yet to be clear.

I believe the ETF news has a role to play. Maybe not a significant role, but it's still a role because that news will increase the demand for Bitcoin. We can't know the extent of the role it plays.

Another factor is the fact that halving is coming up. People have this thought at the back of their mind and they may be led by different reasons to buy Bitcoin now. Also, people will want to buy now because they are speculating a bull run, so this may be the lowest Bitcoin price would be before the halving.
FOMO has a role to play in this.
794  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Every man you failed to lecture about Bitcoin can be a victim to scam on: November 16, 2023, 12:39:06 PM
These scammers are very smart, they appear very genuine (at least to a newbie or greedy person). So even if you had educated that person on what Bitcoin is, he might have still fallen victim if he did not carry out his research. Scammers confuse them till they don't even know what they believe, you'll end up being the bad guy to him because to him, he has found a path to become a millionaire and you were hiding it from him.
Also, if you had educated him and he decided to invest, he might have blamed you for any losses because it was through you he got involved.

It's wrong for anybody to get involved in any investment they don't have an idea about. Always at least the basic knowledge and it should be the right knowledge. Also since you have only the basic knowledge, don't go into the advanced part of that investment.
For example, a newbie who just got involved in Bitcoin learned how and where to buy BTC and hold it in his noncustodial wallet wants to become a day trader overnight because he knows how to buy and sell Bitcoin. It shouldn't be so.
795  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2023/24 on: November 16, 2023, 03:47:35 AM
Sometime, it is not all about the money that the club will spend in acquiring a player at some point if they have the conviction that the player will aid them in success in the coming days, so far so good,  Barcelona have performed well in tLa la Liga last season and also they have managed to make a remarkable fit in this season and having a top player like Alvarez on the club will ve a great hight.
Looking at the money that it will cost Barcelona to acquire the players the money may be huge but what it will add to the club, and the next transfer window will show if the club will make that move or not.

For a player like Alvarez, they must consider the money. You might not consider the fee that much when you're buying superstars like Messi, Ronaldo, Neymar, Kane, and Mbappe (all at their peak). But when you're signing a very good player, yet still a relatively young player that has not developed into his peak you have to look at the price. I believe this because a player like that has a lot of potential and despite how high his ceiling might be, there's always a probability that he won't live up to that potential.

Secondly, Barcelona has already secured the signature of Vitor Roque, a similar profile to Alvarez for almost half the price Man City would have placed on Alvarez if at all they would be willing to sell him. Alvarez would be joining Barcelona in January or at the end of the season. Barcelona are trying not to spend huge money on players anymore and so far, they're doing a good job.
796  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Start small and don't get tired of growing in the process. on: November 15, 2023, 07:47:03 PM
For some, because you've been in the system for a long time, you might be tempted to feel too comfortable and the initial energy you had put into your work at the onset will gradually die off and you might not see any reason why you should develop yourself to becoming better.

Getting too comfortable is a very big hindrance to success. Most times, we look at how far we've come and that makes us get complacent with where we are, forgetting that this is not just where we wanted to be and we can get much better. This happens a lot in our careers or business. It's okay to be contended, but that doesn't stop you from being ambitious in any way.

keep learning, practice the little you've learned, and don't wait until you know everything about Bitcoin before you start applying the knowledge you've received.

If you're waiting to know everything before buying Bitcoin or before trading then you might have to wait forever because I don't think you can learn everything. Bitcoin is constantly a learning process because it's not a static technology. This also doesn't mean you should just start trading without prior knowledge of trading. Trading is a skill and before you can have a skill, you have to learn. Trading is practical so you have to put whatever you're learning into practice.
797  Economy / Economics / Re: Boycotting iSrAEl's product? think again. on: November 15, 2023, 07:03:57 AM
if McDonald's want to stop the boycotts, they just got to take sides.

Why do people have to take sides? Taking sides is what has fueled this war this long. Why do you think both sides always play the victim card? Because they want the public to think they're the one being attacked. Israel has successfully gotten the support of the public and that is why it can do whatever it's doing. Palestine has the support of the people which is why they can attack Israel. These are two people killing innocents, one is only doing it more than the other. So for that reason, we should support the one that has killed less? They're both terrorist groups to me and we can't pick the lesser evil to support.
If the whole world was against what both Israel and Palestine were doing to each other, I believe there would have been other ways to settle their differences.

To be honest, I want to see the CEO of Nestle die in a horrible way, that company is the most evil company there together with BlackRock, Vanguard, Raytheon and Lockheed Martin.

The thing about boycotting is that it never really works.
These companies are deeply rooted to the extent that all these would be forgotten in no time.
There was a time when a very detailed article filled with evidence showing how a cereal company is tied to the funding and money laundering of terrorist groups in Africa. The freelance investigative journalist who made that report is on the run today. He can't openly step foot into his country.
No media house or news channel, big or small reported that news.
798  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin forging ahead Demonstrates Resilience in the Wake of FTX’s Downfall on: November 14, 2023, 04:43:39 PM
A lot of people have begun to trust Bitcoin. Gone are the days when every little shake-up will affect Bitcoin price drastically. Now people no longer rush off to sell at every setback related to Bitcoin. That's why I believe Bitcoin would never go as low as $16k again.
Even if another pandemic is to happen now, Bitcoin won't go that low. FUD will make people panic but it won't be as bad as it used to be in recent years, because they've kind of been through similar things with Bitcoin.
I believe this is how Bitcoin will gradually become more stable. In the future Bitcoin might not be going down very low at all. That is another way Bitcoin is different from other coins.
People were asking how Bitcoin would be affected if Binance was to crash. It would affect it negatively to an extent but I'm very sure the price won't dip as it did during the FTX crash because people now understand that a centralized exchange is not Bitcoin, however big that exchange might be.
A currency won't become worthless because the biggest bank in the country crashes.

FTX's founder, Sam Bankman-Fried, has recently been convicted on fraud charges, potentially leading to a maximum prison sentence of up to 100 years.

I genuinely do not give a shit about him but for the sake of others, I want him to suffer. I want an example to be made out of him.
I want people to know that you can't just do whatever you like and get away with it. I'm not saying that's going to eradicate people like him, but if the thought that they're not invincible in their mind they'll be more careful when handling customer's funds.
799  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What can happen next time due to a lack of proper knowledge about Bitcoin? on: November 14, 2023, 10:05:42 AM
1. When virtual currency or crypto-currency reigns all over the world, the banking system will be miserable, and a group of people (who do not know about crypto-currency or bitcoin) will be unemployed all over the world, who till now were working at the convenience of various banks.

2: Unemployed people (due to a lack of knowledge of currency requirements or benefits) will not be able to handle this shock in the first place, due to which they will face various financial, lateral, physical, and mental problems, which is a big challenge for them.

I don't believe Bitcoin or crypto will take over fiat as the world's major means of exchange but let's assume that happens, it won't happen overnight. It will take years for that to happen and in those years many people if not everybody will begin to adapt to the new system till it finally takes over.
I wasn't around then, but I'm certain that when paper money became a thing, it didn't just happen overnight. It happened over time. The same will be the case for Bitcoin. In the case of Bitcoin, it's digital, and not everybody in the world is digital, neither is every transaction digital, so first the whole world has to go digital before Bitcoin can stand a chance of taking over.

3: Many developing or underdeveloped countries (especially those with low leverage) will consider cryptocurrency a curse rather than a blessing due to their lack of proper understanding of its importance.

I think you're getting it all wrong.
Developing countries have a higher rate of unbanked people and this kind of pushes them to crypto. People in countries with less respect for human rights, poor political structure, poor economy, and low employment rates, People in the countries like US or the UK might go into crypto because it is an investment opportunity but people in third world countries might go into crypto because it's an opportunity to get away from their oppressors.
If you look at the list of top 20 countries with crypto activities, 13 of those countries are developing countries.
There's a reason China has so much crypto activity even though it was banned in the country.

4: I have seen among my acquaintances who still cannot fully trust the bank (banking is some kind of rigging or fraud) and therefore leave their valuable assets (gold or money) on their own instead of depositing them in the bank. For those who do not believe in banks, how exactly will they accept this currency system?

It is for this same reason that people would go into Bitcoin. If they can't trust a centralized system, then they'll most likely prefer a decentralized system.
