It is still worth to use bitcoins because the value has increased and satoshi's will still be on the same track. Before you are thinking that 0.005 BTC is still a cheap amount of Bitcoin but right now the price is high and you may think it's gold and you can now reduce it to lower amount. But if you don't want to do this, you can just simply use alt coins.
Yes before I use to bet min 0.005 BTC actually I will place 0.01 BTC when ever I play sports betting. Becasue I will get a decent return. But what you said it is right it becomes too costly if I convert 0.005 BTC to our fiat currency it is approximately one day salary for two years experienced IT people. Hmm. Nearly a year since thread started. I wonder how much btc this guy earned now. That would depend on his investment volume of course. I started to focus on crypto trading just nearly the same date this thread started and I can say I gained at least x30. I am still far from earning 100 btc. But still hopeful and I can make it maybe next year.  It's great man you have x30 bitcoins? how did you make these bitcoins? any good strategy you used or in trading you've done or else you bought coins before only and that coin worth is now x30. My take is that Ether will be the most used coin, look at the persistent volumes lately.
Yes, Bitcoin was first and it was a pioneer, while ETH is the next generation coin.
Ethereum is a token creating platform and can be used as a smart contract and it is not a next generation coin.  Bitcoin is and will be the lead coin no matter what and no other coin will be out classing bitcoin,to make Ether the most used coin,it has to be a scalable solution,lets see what their plans are and lets see when they will be switching the consensus protocol of Ethereum to POS. The best answer to this for me is, before was the best time to buy bitcoins, like back on 2011 where bitcoins are not that popular. If you buy bitcoins that time tou are probably rich today because the value are way too far today. But I know it is not too late for everything, we can still buy bitcoins and make money out of it. In selling, as simply as this, sell bitcoins if you needed to, do not sell it for the reason that you're panicking and you're afraid that it might crash. The Past is passed I thin no one guesses that Bitcoin price will increase this much in 2017 that is why many people, not bought this coins. But who ever invested that time they are really become rich. Now I think it is very difficult to buy bitcoins because the price is too high and many people will not afford that money. Why it is not a good idea? Crypto's are the future in currency and digital transactions. And if you don't want to take the risk of volatility of bitcoin then don't invest with it. The profit potential of bitcoin for the long term is indisputable. Small amount of bitcoin investment for young people can make them rich in the future. I included joining bitcoin as a teenager, I joined bitcoin in 2013 when I was 17 years old. Most people I know of are neutral on this subject or they're hating because they didn't buy it when it was low. You can ignore them or educate them with counter argument or better yet, gift them small amount of bitcoin so they can start caring.
You would think that they would start caring about bitcoin or that they would start giving out their hearts to bitcoin but they will not. With that action, it just shows how desperate you are to persuade them. You are literally giving them money and that's something a desperate guy would do. That's what they will think of you. It will seem lame to most people and I don't think it's a good way to convince people to use bitcoins. Maybe a mobile wallet such as Mycellium which is easy enough to install and then you get your private keys and you can direct your mining to your own wallet, Coinbase along with most other online wallets own your private keys which in turn means they own your bitcoin in a similar way that banks do.
