781  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Psychology of Investing in Bitcoin on: February 03, 2024, 02:46:55 AM

And for a privacy supporter like me I just realized this recently that im more into Bitcoin because of its privacy and freedom, I don't like being controlled so I chose to be free with my finance with the help of Bitcoin.

Is this right? Because I see most people always talk about privacy, freedom and that's the main reason for them to choose bitcoin. But meanwhile, most people just talk about bitcoin's volatility and price on a daily basis. It doesn't stop there, the majority are using bitcoin as an investment and people are using centralized exchanges to buy and sell bitcoins. Most of us are here for profit, few of us are here for technology or privacy if bitcoin is not profitable. We don't need to deny our true purpose when choosing bitcoin.
I like to believe Bitcoin is profitable because it gives us the possibility of being over control of our own money when transacting it worldwide without frontiers and when storing it in our self-custody wallets, without intervention from regulators and governments. Bitcoin has become profitable due to its features and benefits to adopters, and not due to a temporary hype. It has come to stay and to improve our personal experiences when dealing with money in this digital world we live nowadays.

Profitability is a consequence of technology and privacy. So I think we should be thankful for every characteristics of Bitcoin, otherwise we wouldn't have access to the profit factor, after all.
782  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Will you invest on this kind of offer? on: February 03, 2024, 02:19:34 AM
I don't like this idea, because the concept consists in investing in gambler's bankroll, which is always known for being unprofitable on long run. The profitable concept has always been to invest in the house's bankroll, to profit side by side with the casino, since we know they are making profit on long term against players. Moreover, there aren't any assurances lenders are going to receive their money back from the gambler borrowers, unless you add some kind of collateral on the deal.

Anyway, it doesn't make sense at all, because why wouldn't you want to move your own funds in order to gamble? To borrow money for that reason would involve extra costs, what means it would end being more expensive than using your own money to gamble. Also, the concept is pretty much the same as borrowing money from a crypto lender platform in order to gamble, what is never a good idea, since the outcomes can be devastating for your finances and create unpayable debt in the end.

PS: This is not real bankroll offer but just a hypothetical idea just to know if the community will like this kind of offer. This is only possible for user that has good reputation since trust is the main issue here. This method might help someone who regularly loan for gambling to stop paying loan interest in exchange of profit sharing.
Some time ago a highly trusted member has lost all his reputation for not being able to continue running the auctions he was operating in the forum, due to being a gambler addicted and having lost big money betting. There are reputable members who can be gambling addicted, so you never know if you are doing a good deal by lending money to them. I would be very careful with this, despite their reputations being intact on the current time.
783  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Are people still interested in bankroll investment ? on: February 03, 2024, 01:53:33 AM
The question is in the subject  Kiss I’m genuinely just curious if people are still interested in this because I believe it’s a good way to “HODL” your bitcoin.

Since when has the bankroll investment become a good way to HODL bitcoin?

I think only a few now are interested in bankroll investment since when that was quite popular before, it did not become a big thing as a whole. We can assume that it's not profitable even in the long run even if the house always wins. Most gambling sites nowadays are well capable of running the site operation without offering a bankroll investment,

Not unless the new gambling site offers a bankroll investment, the hype might be built, and maybe others will try to test the waters.
It was very profitable years ago when Crypto Games and Yolodice offered this feature on their platforms. There was an investor who made 50% BTC profit in a year time period by investing at Crypto Games' bankroll many years ago. It was a specific lucky year for investors and the casino, but even though the next years weren't so profitable like that, they were still consistent for investors.

However, after those two casinos ceased the feature, bankroll investment kind of disappeared, although there are other casinos offering it. The point is that they don't have enough traffic and don't make enough income to make it a profitable investment for investors, so people don't talk about it anymore too often.

For those who are still interested in a similar concept of investment, they can try freebitco.in. They don't offer the classical bankroll investment feature, but they pay daily interest over your BTC balance (4,08% APY) and run a casino on the website, so you are funding their casino anyway, just like you would do at other casino bankroll investments. There are always risks involved, but the platform has conquered reputation along of more than 10 years operating in crypto market already.
784  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Another health benefit of online gambling on: February 02, 2024, 09:33:06 PM
Yes, physical casinos can be overcrowded places where there are sick people transmitting their diseases to other people around due to the environment being closed and not having too much flux of air. Besides that, there is usually people smoking frequently inside these casinos, what is also very harmful for someone suffering from lung diseases, as they will be constantly breathing smoke to their lungs (secondhand smoke). With these informations in mind, it's highly advisable that ill or low immunity people should gamble from home, through online casinos.

It might not be their favorite alternative, as you said, but it can still be enough to offer some relief from the pain and suffering of being ill. In terminal illness cases, it can be the final palliative pleasure the individual may have access to in order to not keep thinking bad things all the time. However, if health issues aren't present, I think gambling at physical shops can be even healthy if we think it can be an opportunity to interact with other people and improve our social skills, especially nowadays that people live so lonely and end prejudicing their mental health for this reason.
785  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Black Rock Influence on: February 02, 2024, 09:14:26 PM
They can manipulate the market through massive Bitcoin sales, just like GrayScale did recently.
~Snipped

That sell-off a few days ago was more about Grayscale customers selling their GBTC in order to use other ETF partners. Grayscale was charging a whopping 1.5% fee for manage assets for customers whereas BlackRock and others charged around 0.25% or less. So it was only ideal that some users sell and put those funds back in other ETFs.

The only concern about a case like this would be a firm that acquires Bitcoin for itself rather than a customer base. That's when it should be a matter of concern.
Hmm, I didn't know about it. It makes sense customers would prefer a middleman service which charge them lower comission fees. At same time, I can't ignore the fact there was a massive flow of Bitcoin dropped in the market for sale by GrayScale in a very short timeframe, what makes me wonder if their customers would be really able to act all together at once to generate such huge negative effect on market's prices. I think it's hard to believe a coordinate movement like that could be done only by independent customers moving from one asset management company to another.

I fear heavy centralization in general is bad in every cases, even when it's a company managing the funds of a wide customer base. After all, it's the company behind the funds which is getting more and more powerful each new day... And too much power concentrated in few hands it's never good.

I don't know how they benefited but I can think of ways they could, for instance by telling a few trusted individuals to place levered short positions on Bitcoin, since the market obviously did not expect they'd sell so much Bitcoin in 1 week.
The market is unpredictable for most of us, but imagine if you could know exactly when BTC is going to dump and pump, in order to buy or sell your coins. There lies the benefits of being close to the whales of crypto market and knowing their next movements beforehand.
786  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: World female football. on: February 02, 2024, 05:18:16 PM
Do you genuinely care and feel excited by women's sports categories? If so, feel free to create threads respective to women championships and leagues and start talking about it. However, don't feel like it's your obligation or duty to do so, just because there is a modern political agenda imposing it to the global population. Sports have to be entertaining to watch and bet on, however if people are watching and betting on them just for the sake of following the media and ideological movements' orders, then it doesn't make sense at all. It's like doing something you don't really want or like, but just because other people told you to do, so you feel you belong to their group somehow, although nobody there really cares about you at all, anyway...
787  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Black Rock Influence on: February 02, 2024, 05:06:49 PM
They can manipulate the market through massive Bitcoin sales, just like GrayScale did recently. But we expect they to have this heavy influence only on short run, because once they manipulate the market once, they are going to lose the resources to do it again in the future, unless they purchase the coins again when the price hits the bottom.

That is why average independent investors should take advantage of such manipulative events to buy Bitcoin cheaper and take the coins from the hands of the whales of this industry, so their power decreases as Bitcoin becomes splitted among more different investors' hands, decreasing the potential of future manipulations happening in crypto market, at least in big proportion.

About Black Rock, only now people are starting to talk about it more frequently. They not only own huge sums of BTC, but also large positions in titan global companies like Google, NVIDIA, Microsoft, Apple, Amazon and Disney.
788  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: To what extent have you hated yourself due to your gambling losses? on: February 02, 2024, 04:48:55 PM
In your entire gambling journey, have you ever had a series of losses to the extent you hated yourself so much for being so unlucky?
To hate oneself is a tough extreme feeling, so I don't think I have been on this situation at some point. I already felt heavily regretful, but never reached to the point of hating myself for losses faced in gambling. On the other hand, if I wasn't able to learn from my mistakes and continued gambling and losing money without limits, that is, if I became a gambling addicted, then it's possible I would hate myself for not being able to get out of this vicious circle.

And actually, when people reach to this level, it becomes very dangerous for them, because it keeps leading the individual to further negative consequences and habits, possibly reaching to suicide, since they feel too bad about themselves that they just want to escape from this aversive conscious state of mind. It's the complete opposite of the narcissist person, who is always superior to everyone else. The one who hates himself will always feel on the bottom, unable to elaborate any positive concepts about his own personality and traits.

Therefore, everyone should be careful to not reach this bottom. If you feel like you are hating yourself, that your self-esteem is too low, or that you are a complete failure, these are signals to be attentive to, because they might be leading you to self-destruction. Seek for help, and be assured that it's not too late to revert the situation and find qualities in yourself, besides achieving goals in life which you will make you proud, satisfied and self-realized.
789  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Beware of Crypto.com (difficulties cancelling debit card) on: February 02, 2024, 04:37:17 PM
If you have time, you may wanna take this to their public community. Perhaps, they'll pay attention to your case more, see: https://www.reddit.com/r/Crypto_com/
Ok, thanks. I shall see this alternative, if I can't solve through app's support.

Anyway, if this is how hard it is to cancel your card, is it not a more practical option to just unstake and withdraw everything from your account and forget about your card? I'm not a user of Crypto.com's debit card but it seems this is the easier way out. And possibly a way to avoid cancelling fees, dormancy fees, and whatnot.
I can't unstake. I have over 4000 CRO staked, but the platform doesn't let me sell more than 20 CRO. I guess it's because they are attached to the debit card feature. Also, if I don't use the card during a year time period, there is an inactivity fee to be paid, so I don't know if they would use the staked CRO to charge this fee from. There would be a 50 euros fee as well to cancel the card, but that would be only in case I desired to recover the left balance to some address else, although it's not the case here.

These services try to save money by using AI in the support team and hiring fewer people, which results in a bad experience that ends up leading to long waits and duplicate responses. It seems that they do not want you to cancel the card, so stop using it and it will expire soon.
If you read some responses to similar problems, you will find that some of them were solved after more than 8 months.
https://www.reddit.com/r/Crypto_com/comments/182jht0/support_not_answering/

Pressure on Reddit about the support team's delay may force them to hire more, especially if they receive a lot of complaints.
Lol, they have money to hire Matt Damon for a marketing campaign, but don't have money to hire more support employees... Although I believe all this delay and precarious service is on purpose. If it was someone willing to invest instead of getting investments out of their platform, I believe the treatment would be different.

24 hours have passed. No reply from app's support, which was supposed to take up to 12 hours.
790  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is it valid to invest in a gaming projects? on: February 01, 2024, 11:43:56 PM
What does the game offer? Is it an innovative, original and unique game which we haven't seen before on the internet? Is it going to overcome the popular titles of the genre it belongs? If your answer is yes, then I would say you to invest in this game immediately.

However, if you aren't sure or if your answer is no, then definitely you shouldn't go ahead, because it's probably just another copy from any popular consolidated MMORPGs of the moment trying to milk some money from crypto enthusiasts through speculation.

Gaming projects were a hot topic in the last bull market of 2021, although they didn't last once crypto entered a bearish market in 2022, so if you are going to decide investing on these projects, be assured they might work temporarily due to the hype factor, and not exactly because the games are enjoyable and long lasting.

Even the ones which are enjoyable don't have a decent flux of new content being added to the game, or are neglected by developers who allow massive abusers to take advantage of the game through bots, hacks and multiple accounts. Considering you have invested money in a game like this, then it becomes a big issue because the tendency is that legit players will get annoyed and leave, remaining only the cheaters who subtract and prejudice the ecosystem, so think carefully before putting money into something you are likely to not be able to recover later.
791  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you believe visiting a seer or spiritual house could make you win a game? on: February 01, 2024, 11:27:37 PM
I've seen a lot of people who spend their hard earned money to visit spiritual houses just to get the future results of games and in most times still fail to win those games despite their visits to spiritual houses or spiritualists.
It happens because once in a while these self-proclaimed seers match a correct result through their predictions, and once it happens, several media channels start sharing these news, giving legitimacy to the seer's predictions. And since a lot of people in our socities are guided by what the media tells them, immediately these people go to the seer asking for advice and blessings.

However, since the correct result was predicted by coincidence, and not by theoretical supernatural skills, the seer starts giving incorrect predictions to the people who go after him. Then slowly, all the hype cool down and we don't hear about the seer anymore on the media, unless he matches another result once again. Then it's possible the hype restarts and more people go after him for the same purposes.

That is how these seers and the media make money, while the fools following them lose everything... Tongue
792  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling addiction does more harm than mere financial loss on: February 01, 2024, 11:15:40 PM
Addictions cause more harm than solely financial losses, because they are directly related to a disfunction on the mental state of the individual. A financial loss can be recovered without difficulties, if the person is focused on that goal and displays responsability, skills, knowledge and endurance. However, if the person is an addicted one, hardly every he is going to achieve any financial recoveries, because as soon as he accumulates some money on this pockets, he is instantly going to spend it due to their addiction. In this case mentioned by OP, the individual is simply going to put everything on the table in a casino.

So, this cycle of financial losses never end for the addicted individual. He is never able to recover himself entirely, because he lacks focus, endurance, discipline and responsability. For that reason, I fully agree with the statement of this thread's title. First of all, an addicted person has to get rid of his addiction, and only once he achieves doing this, he can start reverting his financial status for the better, otherwise, I fear he is just going to waste time and make the addiction issue even worse, as he isn't prepared to deal with money in a benefical way before getting healed from addiction.
793  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Proverbs and Sayings that Act as Triggers to Gambling on: February 01, 2024, 11:05:37 PM
What other proverbs or sayings could potentially act as triggers, enticing individuals to initiate or perpetuate their gambling activities?
"Risking is always better than regretting". ~Unknown

"At gambling, the deadly sin is to mistake bad play for bad luck". ~Ian Fleming

"Life is like poker, in the end, you have to go all in". ~Unknown

"Quit while you are ahead. All the best gamblers do". ~Unknown

"Life is a gamble so roll the dice". ~Unknown

"If you don't like trading, gambling and betting, then you don't like living". ~William C. Brown

"It's hard work. Gambling. Playing poker. Don't let anyone tell you different". ~Stu Ungar

There are many quotes in gambling's favour which can trigger an optimistic and proactive behavior on potential gamblers towards the practice of this activity. These sayings can be quite inspiring if you aren't aware of the possible negative outcomes from betting with so much enthusiasm, confidence and belief that it's going to be a life changer. Always use your critical sense when reading such quotes on the internet.

And we can't forget the classical one:

794  Economy / Exchanges / Beware of Crypto.com (difficulties cancelling debit card) on: February 01, 2024, 04:03:42 PM
I'm trying to cancel my VISA Crypto.com debit card, but the platform makes the request hard or nearly impossible to be concluded. They give two alternatives: send request through email or through app's chat.

First, I tried through email. Sent a request, following their guidelines and waited 3 days until getting a reply asking for my 4 last phone number digits and 4 last ID digits, which were linked to the platform's account.

Did it on the next day, and waited more 4 days for another reply, asking me to spend the 0,33$ left on my debit card's balance first, before cancelling it.

Few hours later, I replied once again confirming and ordering the cancel, giving up on the left balance for crypto.com.

Then, 8 days have passed until I received a new reply from them:

Only nonsense and bullshit. I tried contact again twice after that, asking if the debit card was already cancelled or not, so after 7 days they replied asking for the same 4 last digits from phone number and ID.

Ok, I sent the digits asked on the next day, and 6 days later they replied me asking for the same 4 digits AGAIN!

I even tried arguing after that, but it didn't work, as they kept asking the 4 digits.

So, I appealed to the app's chat. Opened support and had to choose fixed alternatives as reply to the bot. It didn't give me the option to talk to someone real. And inside the category VISA card there wasn't any alternative which fit my request.

Then I had to take a long walk around it, justifying some technical bullshit issue in order to force the bot forward my request to a real attendant. Now I'm waiting for a reply, which accordingly to the platform takes up to 12 hours.

What I mean is, avoid this platform, so you don't have a lot of headaches with a poor and scammy service like this which prevent customers from having their requests met and solved. And if someone you know is a customer of them or thinking about becoming one, warn them.
795  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Viewpoint of a fan gambling on: February 01, 2024, 03:18:19 PM
It actually doesn't work like this. You don't have to choose to always bet on favorites or underdogs on every of your bets exclusively. I believe most gamblers will adapt their bets depending on the matches. Sometimes they will prefer to go for the favorites and in other times they will go for the underdogs, accordingly to the respective analysis made towards a specific game.

It's important to mention that personal passions for determined players or teams should never speak louder in gambling matters. Be technical and strict with your analysis, otherwise you are going to raise your chances of losing money due to betting on a team or player just because you are a fan and have an emotional attachment to them. We have already read many stories of gamblers who lost money because they were betting for passion, instead of reason.

Sometimes it can be that the team you are fan eventually become the favorite one of the competition, so in this case you can combine business with pleasure. Cheesy
796  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Is politics really necessary? on: January 31, 2024, 10:24:14 PM
There can't be organized societies without politics. It's part of civilization since the early tribal times in Stone Age. Politics define the path a society is going to trail, so you can't get rid of that, otherwise I fear we would reach to a chaotic state where each person would be living inside his personal universe without any external contact anymore. Of course people will be threated, put aside and defamed for their political views and opinions, but it's better to suffer all the negative consequences, keeping your conscience and integrity intact than becoming a sheep of someone else and giving up on all your personal opinions and views.

Many historical figures have died for political reasons such as Jesus Christ and Socrates. Although the legacy they have left is what really mattered in the end, while all the ones who conspired against them remained in the shadows. Therefore, politics are totally necessary for our moral and intellectual development. That is, the good politics, not the "politicking" which is practiced in most countries nowadays and is well known since the ancient Greece through the called "demagogues".
797  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Who among you here is gambling at work? on: January 31, 2024, 10:08:04 PM
Gambling isn't a must activity, meanwhile working is a must. We understand which one should be the priority, don't do both at the same time because it will be very possible to decrease the quality of our works.
I believe the main point in this case is that once the person applied for the job and was hired by the employer, he accepted the terms and conditions of the business, which implied that from X to Y hour this person would have to execute a series of tasks. If the employee is gambling at work, it means he is already breaking the deal made with the employer, so he is wrong and there are no excuses for his behavior, especially if it's done in a frequent basis.

People who gamble at work should put themselves on bosses' shoes and think if they would be fine if they were in reverse roles. I'm sure they wouldn't pay someone to do a job, knowing they were doing something else instead of the activities they were supposed to be executing.

I know somedays are stressing and we want to give a big "F" to the whole world around, however, we can't impose our own wishes and desires to a group or society and force them to accept our behaviors because we are in a bad mood. So, if someone isn't able to work for whatever reasons, better to call the supervisor, explain the situation or try to get a sick leave for a while than acting irresponsibly or rebelliously at work.
798  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Are there Casinos that offer Birthday Bonuses to their users? on: January 31, 2024, 09:55:24 PM
There are some online casinos offering birthday bonus feature to its customers, including some accepting Bitcoin, but they are all minor unknown casinos, so I'm not going to share them here, because I don't have any clue about their legitimacy. With so many online casinos nowadays we have to be careful to not fall for scams. I really don't know why the bigger platforms haven't offered this kind of bonus yet, because it doesn't seem a big investment from their side, although for gamblers it can make total difference when choosing where to deposit their money.

I would like to see the main crypto gambling houses, especially the ones being promoted on this forum, giving birthday giveaways to their customers. Maybe introducing something like a wheel where they could get from 5$ to 50$ or free spins on slots games could be an interesting idea. Of course there would be lots os cheaters trying to take advantage of the feature, but I guess KYC requirement in order to be able to claim the reward would solve the issue, or it could be a bonus destined to old veteran players from the platform exclusively.

After all, it's all a matter of supply and demand. If the casino is under heavy demand, hardly ever they are going to put more supply available for gamblers, that is, more bonuses and giveaways. On the other hand, if the casino needs to increase its userbase, then marketing department may start thinking on introducing such ideas.
799  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you believe visiting a seer or spiritual house could make you win a game? on: January 31, 2024, 08:01:50 PM
No. I believe luck is something individual and there isn't any human beings with supernatural powers to change one's luck or predict accurately your next gambling session's results. People who promise doing this are scammers and charlatans trying to take advantage of people's naivety or greed in persuit for easy money. If such things really existed, these spiritual guiders and their adepts would be the richest men in the world. However, what we see in reality is that they are poor men or beggars.

I saw an impacting phrase these days, and it really makes sense. Adapting it to the context of this thread, it says: religions and spiritual matters are a big business in the world.

Of course more frequent in determined cultures than others, but I believe every cultures have their scams involving supernatural matters in some proportion.
800  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is there anything else like bitcoin? on: January 31, 2024, 05:52:05 PM
What if I knew Bitcoin around 2010. I would have more fun seeing how much Bitcoin progresses than getting rich. What do you think is going to develop tremendously in the future? Please leave your comments. Maybe someone will get it right?
Why don't you just invest in Bitcoin, since it's the safest bet we have at this moment, instead of looking for something else nobody knows for sure if it's going to skyrocket in the following months or years? You can still make decent profit by investing in BTC right now and waiting till the next bull season.

I wouldn't look for anything else for now, since we have Bitcoin under our disposal. It's an opportunity signaling to us which shouldn't be neglected in order to pursue something more profitable. That actually would be greed from our side and rudeness towards the gift which is being offered to us.
